Hallway Outside Sun Room

[[from here]]

The feeling was strong.  There was something out there.  And as he neared the Sun Room, it was even stronger.  It felt like an Akuma, but he couldn't be sure, not in this place.  As much as he didn't want to wait around here, he had to meet Emily.  He couldn't help thinking that they should have picked a safer place.  He'd never been very good at planning things though.  He just had to take things as they came, one at a time.

He leaned against the wall with a sigh and settled in to wait, moving his flashlight up and down the hall just to be sure nothing was coming after him.

Hitsugaya rushed down the hallway to the doors of the Sun Room. No sign of Momo or Rangiku...but there was Allen. He looked like he was waiting for someone, but the young captain didn't have time to worry about that.

"Don't go through those doors!" he said with a motion towards the Sun Room doors, his voice a mixture of his normal authoritative air and a little bit of panic. "Have you seen anyone go in there?"

He didn't stop, didn't pause, didn't even pay attention to who or what he might be sharing the hallway in. He recognized the sounds coming from the sun room, the voice, and he knew what he had to do. He ran inside.

Whatever lurked within the air, it became stronger as Xemnas approached the sun room. As he came closer, he could hear the commotion within, most likely the source of that which he couldn't quite place.

Not deciding to meddle -- nor with the other patients in the hallways -- he proceeded to the door opposite of the lounge. The Superior happened to be quite curious to see what was there.

Miku crept around the corner quietly. The weird heavy feeling seemed to push down on her head even more, making the goose egg throb and her spiritual senses flare up suddenly, like an angry cobra. She slowed a half-second to shake her head and kept moving on. It was painful, yes, but not unbearable. Miku hadn't met that kind of pain yet.

"It's just through those doors... what are all those people doing there, I wonder?" she whispered. "Ah, Matsumoto-san is there," Miku added her light catching the tall woman's hair.

"There's quite a strange aura about," Citan mused, feeling the heaviness in the air as well. It almost reminded him of Id.

"I wonder as well. That's quite a group. And no one seems to be passing through the doors." That didn't bode well. He looked to the doors, adjusting his glasses with an elegant finger. "I think perhaps there is something most dangerous beyond those doors. Are you certain you wish to proceed?"

The sun room was likely in total chaos. Bloodstains, the heaviness in the air getting thicker, people fleeing from there and rushing in ... someone, or something, was in there.

Caim's hands itched to grab a sword and charge in, slaughtering whatever creature lay within. But there was no sword. His entire body screamed for action, to see blood spilled that was neither his nor an ally's. Yet even he knew it was suicide to charge in there empty-handed and unprotected.

He had to arm himself first.

Naturally, when he got to the meeting place specified in the note, Hitsugaya wasn't there. He eyed the other people already in the hallway, then the doors and whatever was behind them that was giving him a serious case of the creeps.

He mentally gave himself three guesses as to where Hitsugaya was, and the first two didn't count.

He settled uneasily with his back to a wall, twirling a pen through his fingers. The note said to wait, so he'd wait. Until he got tired of waiting, anyway, and then he'd find out why they weren't supposed to go in there.

...turn back...

Artemis stopped in front of the Sun Room doors, looking at them as though he were a field mouse looking into the eyes of an oncoming horned owl. Somehow he managed to tear his eyes away from the door, the next thing he saw being a boy sitting against a wall playing with a pen. Cautiously, he approached the other boy. He wasn't sure if the foreboding aura was coming from the Sun Room, or from him. But Artemis guessed that since the boy was playing with a pen and not an actual weapon, he wasn't the one sent to attack other patients. But he was here--waiting. The third part of Captain Hitsugaya's team.

"Tsukiyono, I presume?"

There was something decidedly off about the atmosphere here, noted Javert as he and the others approached the Sun Room. It seemed as if the air around them were being slowly compressed - and it was getting harder to concentrate on their objective as they got nearer -

Really, he thought distractedly, it was not unlike drowning.

He didn't notice that he had paled slightly, or that his left hand had tightened around the filled pillowcase in something resembling a deathgrip.

Seishirou let the spot of his flashlight sweep over the mostly uncrowded hallway, only couple of kids by the wall. He walked unhurriedly to the sunroom door, noticing it seemed like this place was busy again tonight.

Whatever the spell was in use, it seemed to originate from the sunroom.

Seishirou sighed. He had to pass through to get to kitchen, and hoped it wouldn't mean stalling his way here. If he had known what fear was, he might have realized that was what nipped at the bottom of his stomach. As it was, he considered it to be just annoyance for the inconvenience.

Brows furrowing slightly, he pushed open the door and stepped into the sunroom.

As they moved down the hallway, it became obvious that the source of that power (because he was slowly realizing that that's what it was) came from the room to their left. People seemed to be gathered around outside, as if debating whether or not they should go in.

He was tempted to poke his head in, just to see what was going on, but he knew if he did that, he would just decide he needed to save the day somehow and then get himself involved in something he wasn't ready for.

What he did notice were the two rather young boys who were talking together. Kids that young were around? That was troubling, but they didn't seem too bothered by the fact that they were in a creepy hospital.

Peter glanced over at Clark, wondering what his thoughts were on the matter.

[identity profile] son-ofkrypton.livejournal.com 2007-08-26 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
Clark didn't think it was the best idea to stick around, but neither was it to turn his back on a couple of kids who might need help. They were hovering near the door. What was shocking was how young some of them were though. They looked like middle schoolers or something, and he had to wonder what kind of place this really was. Okay, so he wasn't that much older, but still.

"We better take a look," Clark said, frowning and indicating that he'd noticed the two kids that Peter had. "Maybe see if they want to come with us?"

Great, he had to keep asking for more people to tag along, as if it wouldn't be hard enough to conceal his powers with one person. Then again, maybe everyone would be so distracted with each other that they wouldn't be paying attention to him. Besides, that aside, Clark just thought it a pretty bad idea as a high schooler to let a bunch of little middle schoolers wander around without adult supervision.

And he was well aware he didn't fit that bill yet, but hey, Peter did that for him.

It seemed the air was getting thicker the closer he got to the sunroom. It was hard to breathe evenly, his fingers were nervous on the handle of the bat and senses jumpy at their best. And yet he found himself unable to care one damn bit.

This hallway was lit up by several flashlights and he still didn't feel the need to flick on his flashlight, just let his feet take him silently from one hallway to another, observing the surroundings as the best he could.

Two guys ahead of him, Omi with some kid at the side of the hallway, nothing out of the ordinary and yet something was horribly wrong. He paused to consider Omi and the strange kid, wondering if he should keep his distance or not.

Arching his brows at John's suggestion, Kougaiji eyed that grin for a moment, a glimmer of amusement in the crimson of his eyes. Usually intoxication was quite impossible state of being for him with his youkai stamina and ki-control. But here, now, with his round ears and sparkling fingertips, the case might have been something completely else indeed.

"Fine, we'll call it a deal then," he said nonetheless, stepping to the new hallways just few steps behind John. "But first we have to find this treasure of yours."

"HA!" Jack said, stopping by the sun room doors. "I'm POSITIVE it's right beyond-"

He blinked. He had been feeling odd and strangely agitated and concerned since the darkness had descended and now he felt that ever more. "...this door. I think."

Why was he questioning his judgment now? Of COURSE the library was just off the sun room. Why did he feel so worried about it?

Seishirou waited for Xelloss to step to the hallway after him, keeping his one good eye on the younger man, intent.

"Would you have a preferred location for our moment of heart-to-heart conversation on matters more pleasing than having been stabbed?" he asked smoothly. If he was bothered by the fact that his way to the kitchen was blocked he didn't show it.

[identity profile] enigmaticmedium.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Xelloss in turn seemed unaware or at least not alarmed by the gaze Seishirou was keeping on him, relaxing a bit as they left the room. Outside, the sensation on the air was pleasant again, a reminder of who and what he was despite the odd circumstances. It was only inside the room itself that the aura of despair became a slight bit overwhelming.

"I still don't know my way around very well, so any location that doesn't seem likely to lead to our immediate deaths would suit me perfectly well." Xelloss answered, voice upbeat. "Although privacy might be nice, it seems that this place is rather too busy to hope for such a thing. Unless, of course, you have a good suggestion." They might go to an especially crowded area and hope that would hide their topic, but he remembered the events of the previous night, walking upstairs with the little blue-haired boy and the flash of dark magic that had stood out like a beacon to him.

Sai stopped as they reached the next hall. There were people everywhere, injured or gathering. It was obvious that they weren't the only ones with plans on getting through the sun room that night. What was also obvious was that the sun room was the source of the unnatural energy - or rather, what was in the sun room.

"Is there any other way around," Sai asked without turning to look back at his companions, voice somewhat hushed. "I don't recommend this way."

[identity profile] rubbermancan.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Luffy traveled along with his two companions, practically radiating with glee. He hadn't had a chance to get back to the kitchen in what had felt like ages, and now they were on their way there! Not only that, but it was perfectly okay to steal as much food as they wanted. And metal for swords, too. But free food -- you really couldn't beat that.

He was a little surprised when they stopped. They were so close to the Sun Room! True, the air felt a lot heavier out here, but Luffy was never one to be deterred by small details like that.

"I dunno," the pirate admitted, scratching his cheek. "Why? What's wrong? Is it 'cause it feels funny around here?"

It hadn't been a long flashstep. Only from the sun room to the hall immediately outside. Still, he felt his insides cramp us as the reiatsu sought to work its way through his body and met resistence. He didn't cough up blood this time, but his nose bled freely from the internal pressure the flashstep had caused him. He collapsed against the far wall, letting go of the larger man he had been carrying.

"God damn you're heavy," He grumbled, slowly pulling himself back to his feet and covering his nose to stop the bleeding. He felt a little dizzy, but he could already tell that his strength would slowly return to him, given time. The 1st and 2nd degree burns covering his body would also heal, given time. He wasn't certain about the other man. While he could heal, he wasn't a 4th division healer. He didn't know what kind of injuries the man had taken.

He glanced back over at the man he had pulled from the Sun Room. "You going to be okay?" he asked gruffly.

[identity profile] blacksustenance.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Brock couldn't reply immediately. The most he could get out was a strangled wheeze as his body tried to decide once and for all if it was going to be conscious or not. It would've been better if he passed out, but no, they'd inherited Peter Parker's bad luck and he was left in a semi-aware state, trying to take a breath and feeling nothing but alternating waves of pain and numbness attacking his body.

They tried to gather their resources and heal enough to be able to walk. Well, the symbiote did most of the work. Brock just lay there with his eyes shut, gasping for air painfully, some of Kasady's blood welling in a trickle down the corner of his mouth as he tried to come to terms with the fact that he was actually hurt and hurt bad.

It seemed to take an eternity before Brock could muster up the strength to speak up. "I..." he coughed. Jesus H Christ, bad idea. "What happened?"

To add insult to injury, he still had the taste of Kasady in his mouth, and he couldn't even spit it out. Disgusting.

[[Coming from here (http://community.livejournal.com/damned/185460.html). Mmm, bloody!]]

Miku huffed softly, they were bleeding from all over, weren't they. It was making her dizzy; the smell of the blood, the pain, and hadn't they tried to leave?

Sort of.

Miku looked up at Citan. He needed help, quickly, and she didn't have any idea who to ask! Not Midget-san over there. He'd probably help her and the doctor into a grave with a smirky 'I told you so.' Her left shoulder burned so badly, and now, she just wanted to sleep, sleep deeply. She did her best to be Citan's counter weight, but it didn't help that he was much heavier. He didn't look it...

...maybe it was all that muscle...?

Now there was pain. Hot burning pain that made his eyes swim and his vision blur. He was vaguely aware of staggering out of the room, into the hallway.

"Set...me down," he managed, struggling for breath. He tried to blot out the pain, to remember his training. It was a bad wound, one that would surely drain his life away were it not attended to.

"I need to get a better look at it," he told Miku, carefully feeling at the edges of the raw wound. It was slick with blood. "And you... as well. We need to return... to the rooms. Blood will attrack creatures."

Whatever it was that was causing the change in the air was inside the Sun Room, and Siegfried didn’t like it one bit. It made him feel far too uneasy.

He’d planned to go through the Sun Room to get to the kitchen, where he suspected he might be able to find a makeshift weapon. However, it sounded like whatever was in the Sun Room was attacking anyone who entered, judging from the angry shouting of whoever was currently inside, and the blood leading from the room.

Siegfried was no fool. As strong as he was, he knew he couldn’t do any real damage unless he had a weapon, and a torch wouldn’t do much to defend him.

Leaving the Sun Room behind, he set off to explore the rest of the institute.

As he turned into the hallway, much wider than the one he left, Kikyo gripped his side a little tighter. The air was oppressive here, and he could feel invisible waves emanating from the walls, throb after throb.

He turned his eyes to the double doors. He remembered them from the night before...these were the doors he passed to the kitchen with Seishirou. Seishirou...of course, he was supposed to meet him there again. Somehow, with the mindless events of the day, it had slipped his mind.

He remembered him as an odd sort of man, this magician and illusionist. He had the same scent as Kikyo. Never before had he ever met one so alike as himself. A warmth to mask his cold heart.

His fingers unconsciously brushed over the bruise on his cheek.

The odd pressure he'd been feeling since he'd left his room seemed strongest here. He winced at the feeling, like the air was pressing down on his shoulders painfully. What little pleasure Light had gotten from his earlier immature moment (L started it) vanished once he reached the hall in front of the Sun Room, though, and he halted once more, eyes wide. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't dismiss it as his imagination any longer. There was... something, a kind of weight or force to the air that was more effective at pinning him in place than the straps he'd encountered the night before. At the same time, the all-too-familiar fear for his life was back and stronger than ever, but unlike last night, he couldn't seem to shake it off.

Whatever it was, it seemed to be coming from the Sun Room. The people clustered around the entrance certainly gave that impression, and with the radio transmission from earlier that night still fresh in his memory, it didn't long for Light to connect the dots.

"'In the Sun Room is perhaps our most experienced student in the betrayal of his peers for a higher cause,'" he muttered, then glanced back in the direction he'd come to see if L had followed. "If this 'student' the Head Doctor is so proud of is the one creating this... aura, for lack of a better word, it may be prudent to find another path for the night. This one is clearly unsafe."

His calm, clinical tone still shook under the pressure, but even so, it was quite at odds with his wide-eyed, fearful look. Neither emotion could win out just then: his pride wouldn't allow his fear to, but hiding it too well would alert L to how accomplished an actor he really was. That was the last thing he needed right now, especially after the little competition they had earlier.

[identity profile] el-lolly-eat.livejournal.com 2007-09-05 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
The next area the two of them entered made the hairs on the back of L’s neck stand on end. He was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with each step. It wasn’t just the scent blood lingering in the air, but the crowd by the door they were to enter next indicated that the room ahead was not safe.

“I agree. I don’t think we can safely reach our objective through this route. I seem to recall a staff only patio located on the second floor. There might be a kitchen up there as well.” He directed the flashlight towards the stairway that would be the shortest path to the destination he had suggested.

[being tossed from here (http://community.livejournal.com/damned/185460.html?thread=13427828#t13427828)]

The impact of the floor unforgiving, as Kougaiji was digging the floor with his face, quite unceremoniously tossed to the dark hallway. White haze behind his closed lids, pain finally ringing through him loudly as he was sprawled out on the cold ground. He could manage a small moan, struggling to sit up.

Dizzy, wild eyed, he whipped his gaze back at the sun room door. By experience alone, he knew the light feeling in his head was caused by blood loss and yet he could not figure out what to do with it.

Yaoine! She should arrive any moment now.

Or was it supposed to be the other way around? Was he to go to her?

Gasping for air, he begun to rise up to his feet. Had Dokugakuji been left behind? Was he still there, behind the doors? No, there he was, but why the hell did he have blond hair? He shook his head to get rid of the haze, resulting with even wilder spinning. "Tis 's no time for hair dy--" he muttered, and ended up tossing himself against a wall and slipping down to the floor again against the smooth support.

What the hell was wrong with his feet?

"Tis 's no time for hair dy--"

Jack realized that he was no longer in the sun room and no longer dealing with that smarmy git with the sword. Where he was, however, wasn't entirely clear, as it was dark and everything hurt. He knew he was laying facedown on an unknown hard surface, which he managed to remedy by turning his head towards Kougaiji's voice. At least his neck was uninjured, unlike the rest of his person. The Fable figured that if he were here, in the darkness and in pain, that he had probably failed in his attempts to make it to the library. He sulked inwardly-- why was it that the universe always gave him such potential, then squandered it for him? Still, hearing Kou's voice was a relief.

A very small one. It didn't say much about their current location. "Kou," He ventured, "Are we dead?"

Keeping close to the left-hand wall, Cloud walked into the more open hallway that he was certain would bring him close to the Sun Room eventually. He felt along the wall with his fingers before the obvious indent of a door caused him to pause. He felt along the door and recognized it at the Sun Room door after a moment, and he turned his back on the door.

Pulling out his flashlight, he flicked it on and explored the areas to his left and ahead of him. He had not been straight ahead, but he felt a greater tug to move to his left. He used the flashlight as direction as well as a method of amplifying the first hallway on his left. He spied more than a few doors, but moved passed until he paused at the second hallway.

It appeared mostly empty, and he eventually turned to walk down it.

"I don't know what it is with you girls, but you're starting to make me question this curiosity over my age." At any other time, such a statement might be followed by I know I'm more mature than others, but don't make me feel nervous! just to get a rise out of the female population. Tonight, however, nothing of the sort would come.

The makeshift bag was hanging heavy at his back. Another night spent progressing backwards. It seemed like the story of his life, ever since he'd aligned himself with Kaname-sama. As though he were just destined to be on the fringes of information, always. Through no fault of others, just his own; he didn't understand why it always had to be that way.

"I'm sure this'll be close," he said, almost speaking to himself. Then, as though remembering Bella was still present: "We really have to get back now."

[identity profile] his-singer.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Bella shrugged her shoulders then turned her gaze away from Aidou with a frown. “Age has always been a touchy subject with me,” she muttered under her breath, staring at the floor with a slight annoyance before turning back up and looking towards Aidou with surprised eyes at his next comment. “… Wait, why?”

At that moment fear coursed through her, and Bella couldn’t help the shudder that flew down her spine. What was going on? Why did they have to rush back?

Bella looked around at the hallway as it started to slowly light up from the sunrise and thought nothing of it. It was only the sun rising, why was it such a big deal?

(From the Amazing Stretching Hallway (http://community.livejournal.com/damned/198142.html?thread=13750782#t13789950)!)

Artemis poked his head around the corner and, confident that nothing was ready to stab his other shoulder, proceeded into the hallway.

"So, if I manage to find a weapon, I should be even better equipped to fight after training?"

[identity profile] whiteychan.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Hitsugaya was about to answer Artemis' question, when he felt it.

Or rather, the absence of it. That familiar sensation of Hinamori that he could sense anywhere in this hospital, and it was getting weaker. There was hardly anything left of her reiatsu at all.

Oh no...not again. He couldn't afford to lose her again. "Momo," he said softly, terrified at the thought of her in trouble again in this forsaken place.

His eyes went wide with shock, and without thinking he turned towards the huge double doors of the Sun Room. Maybe he could flashstep past Ichimaru in time, before the other captain could react? Maybe he could get to her before whatever was after her could kill her? Maybe she'd be ok...she had to be!

All of this walking was grating on him. How much longer was the shift going to last anyway? Kadaj wasn't sure, but he had to keep moving. His room was still some distance away, and like earlier, walking through this particular part of the institute was much harder than it should have been. At least there weren't anymore of those ghosts...

Glancing upwards as if to make sure the thing from upstairs wasn't about to melt through the ceiling and attack him, he hurried on. No point in dilly-dallying, was there?

Stepping in the familiar hallway, Cloud looked around as best he could. He thought that going back to his room for some sleep might be his best option. It did not appear as if he would get much done tonight, which made him feel slightly useless. He would be better off with using his flashlight, but the night seemed to be a bust.

The baseball bat told him different though, since he had accomplished that. He just needed to find some nails, and he determined that he would be set. Until then though, he would find somewhere to hide it.

Turning, he ran a hand through his spiky hair and began to pad back towards his room. He hoped he could remember the way in the dark, but if he was lost, he supposed that would be an adventure as well. He was just thankful he had not been attacked yet.
