Hallway Outside Sun Room

[[from here]]

The feeling was strong.  There was something out there.  And as he neared the Sun Room, it was even stronger.  It felt like an Akuma, but he couldn't be sure, not in this place.  As much as he didn't want to wait around here, he had to meet Emily.  He couldn't help thinking that they should have picked a safer place.  He'd never been very good at planning things though.  He just had to take things as they came, one at a time.

He leaned against the wall with a sigh and settled in to wait, moving his flashlight up and down the hall just to be sure nothing was coming after him.

"Like hell he's going into a potentially dangerous area alone," Artemis said flatly, stepping around Farfarello. "At this point, considering that I have no healing blood and an injured shoulder, my only use is target practice," he said with a wry smile. "But even that has it's advantages."

Strategically, it was the best move Artemis could think of. Hitsugaya could still fight and was armed. Farfarello's shoulder was healed and he was, as far as Artemis could tell, the best fighter they had. The things he'd encountered his first night weren't protecting something--they wanted a meal. Either way, the monsters here didn't seem to have any logic to speak of, only instinct. They'd pick on the weaker, sickly calf before taking on a fully-grown buffalo.

"Well, if we're going to brave the hounds of hell and so rescue the fair Lady Hinamori, I'd suggest we move quickly," Artemis said, taking a step forward.

There wasn't time for this arguing and bickering. Farfarello wanted to stay. Artemis wanted to go. They could sort it out amongst themselves. He didn't care. All that mattered was Momo.

Brushing past both of them, her bolted into the darkness, turning his light back on and retracing their steps.

"Hmph. No." And with that, Farfarello picked Artemis up and tossed him over one shoulder. "Off we go. Room M47, was it?" Farfarello was nothing if not direct.

"E-EH?!" Artemis' eyes nearly left their sockets as Farfarello hoisted him over his shoulder with what seemed to be very little effort. "Farfarello, I demand that you put me down this instant!" the boy fumed, obviously embarrassed at being carried like a child. "I am fully capable of making my own decisions and--"

Hitsugaya turned the corner and disappeared.

"Captain!" Artemis called. No response. "He's going off on his own--what if those... those Weiss people attack him? He's not in any condition to fight. He shouldn't be off on his own!"

But the tail end of his sentence didn't come out so well. His head was swimming at the sudden shift in the relation of his brain to his butt. His shoulder didn't like the change in position either.

"If he's dead tomorrow," Artemis mumbled, "I'm going to be upset. He's fun to bother."

"I don't know what kinda crackpot shrinks you had, but you're obviously not a sociopath. No self-respecting sociopath would have such a piteous self-preservation instinct." The matter of Artemis haring off into dangers unknown was obviously not negotiable, as far as Farfarello was concerned. "Anyway, Weiss are the least of the problems around here. No powers, they're lightweights. But as badly off as the taicho is, you're worse. And if you are dead tomorrow, I'm going to be very annoyed."

Artemis would have crossed his arms in defiance if he could, "I never said that any of my psychiatrists were even close to figuring me out. Most of the time I just gave them textbook answers, strung them along for a bit, then changed the diagnosis myself.

"But that's not the point!" The boy said sharply. Or, as sharply as his wavering voice would allow. "I couldn't possibly be worse off--he's run off into who-knows-what. I'm possibly in the safest position right now," He sighed and jerked his head towards the Sun Room, "Sans Doctor's Death over there."

"He is a trained fighter. Even injured, that puts him ahead of you at your physical best. Right now all you'd do is get yourself killed, which does no one any good and is a waste of a fine intellect. Now, I'll let you down once we're out of this hallway. And don't think I won't catch you if you try to do something stupid." Farfarello strode off at a decently brisk pace, Artemis' slight weight not slowing him at all.
