Hallway Outside Sun Room
[[from here]]
The feeling was strong. There was something out there. And as he neared the Sun Room, it was even stronger. It felt like an Akuma, but he couldn't be sure, not in this place. As much as he didn't want to wait around here, he had to meet Emily. He couldn't help thinking that they should have picked a safer place. He'd never been very good at planning things though. He just had to take things as they came, one at a time.
He leaned against the wall with a sigh and settled in to wait, moving his flashlight up and down the hall just to be sure nothing was coming after him.

All of this walking was grating on him. How much longer was the shift going to last anyway? Kadaj wasn't sure, but he had to keep moving. His room was still some distance away, and like earlier, walking through this particular part of the institute was much harder than it should have been. At least there weren't anymore of those ghosts...
Glancing upwards as if to make sure the thing from upstairs wasn't about to melt through the ceiling and attack him, he hurried on. No point in dilly-dallying, was there?

Stepping in the familiar hallway, Cloud looked around as best he could. He thought that going back to his room for some sleep might be his best option. It did not appear as if he would get much done tonight, which made him feel slightly useless. He would be better off with using his flashlight, but the night seemed to be a bust.
The baseball bat told him different though, since he had accomplished that. He just needed to find some nails, and he determined that he would be set. Until then though, he would find somewhere to hide it.
Turning, he ran a hand through his spiky hair and began to pad back towards his room. He hoped he could remember the way in the dark, but if he was lost, he supposed that would be an adventure as well. He was just thankful he had not been attacked yet.

He would just have to ignore him, that was all. Shouldn't be difficult when there were other people in the hall he could watch. As long as his brother didn't notice him and try to talk to him, he could return to his room and fetch his flashlight in peace. Cloud would have no reason to talk to him anyway, so Kadaj was certain that the rest of his journey would at least pass in relative silence.

He toyed with stray ideas as he began to walk again, wondering if he risked another blow up and dismissal like the previous one tonight had been. He could not explain why he felt bad for Kadaj, but he did. Perhaps it was their similar identity scares when it came to Sephiroth?
He came to a stop at the corner, turning to face Kadaj. “Would you care to join me for a hallway or two?” His lips twitched before he forced himself not to smile invitingly. He would wait until Kadaj had responded to him. “Did you have a productive evening?”

With his mind continuing on that trail, he eventually shrugged his shoulders and rhetorically replied, "Do I have a choice? You're walking the same way I am, aren't you? Since you're so determined to talk with me, I suppose I could allow it just this once, but you're not changing anything by doing it. Does that bother you?
"And I didn't have a productive evening, since you asked. The second floor is immensely boring. If the basement isn't any better, I'll have to complain to the Head Doctor about it. His idea of entertainment is somewhat lacking, don't you think?"

“Not much bothers me,” he replied and turned to continue walking down the hall. “I am working on letting things go gradually, since it seems to get me into trouble.” It had for a considerable amount of time, but the little things like what Kadaj was asking for really had no effect on him. He would just continue trying. “Besides, I would not expect things to change in one day. It may take weeks or months, but I guess I am in it for the long haul.”
His lips quirked upwards a little as he walked, swinging the baseball bat in his left hand slowly. “It was a rather lacking evening for me as well. I only really managed to get one thing done tonight, but there is always the next night. Were you attacked at all? I certainly saw no battle tonight.”

Trailing after him after only a moment's pause, he said quietly, "The long haul, huh? Do you even know what that means in this place? I hardly think you'll be as enthusiastic as you are now after a week of this. I certainly wasn't." Granted, at that point he'd been... well, he couldn't remember exactly, but he certainly hadn't been enthusiastic. Yazoo's presence had sort of helped, but then Sephiroth had shown up and ruined everything. The eldest was good at that sort of thing. "You're overestimating yourself."
After a moment of silence, he added, "I can't really say that I was attacked either. I'm not disappointed by that, but there should have been something more interesting lurking around the halls tonight, don't you think?" His gaze wandered back to the entrance of the Sun Room, but he said nothing of it. He still didn't know what was in it (or rather who), but his curiosity was no longer strong enough to tempt him to wander in that direction to find out. What a shame.

He could thank Jenova and Sephiroth for that.
“I was not talking about the mental institute, Kadaj,” he said simply as he paused to look over his shoulder. Still, the structured boredom here would get to him, even if he had not been talking about that. “At least the nurses have not yet told me to take my pills and stare out the window a little longer so the days just bleed together…”
Nodding, he continued on his way towards the dorms. “The most exciting thing tonight was the Sun Room really, and even then… there was simply a considerable amount of blood in the air.” He had not stayed long enough in the darkness to find out what had bled. “It would have been a little nice to stretch my muscles with some training, though. Perhaps tomorrow night?”

"And, you know, you just might be the first person they decide to keep drugged all the time. Should be a fun experiment, right? It's about time you were poked and prodded by a bunch of doctors. A fitting fate for a traitor, wouldn't you say?"
Snorting softly, he turned at the next hall once they reached and headed down it. Such a pity that this absolutely enthralling conversation would soon end.

because they've been in that hall for way too long.]
