Day 30: Cafeteria, Dinner

The cafeteria was all but empty when Zelnick got there. He was a little disappointed; he had gotten the impression that patients usually ate dinner in their rooms, so he hadn't arranged to meet anyone, and there really wasn't anyone to sit by and engage in conversation yet.

Quietly, he collected dinner and a big glass of orange juice, and chose a seat near the food-serving counters. Talking for so long had made him thirsty... and, well, fruit juice was a luxury he had missed.

Moving again was once again a welcome thing. The Sun Room incident had kept him from being able to rest, both his own mess with Fai, and the following one with the chase. Though he wouldn't admit to it, the man who had chased after another giggling idiot was... very familiar. He'd been sure to note their faces, particularly the one belonging to the one being chased. People like that were ones that he should avoid. He had the magician to deal with, and that was enough.

This time, the chatty nurse led him through the food line, explaining what he was supposed to do and what was what food wise. He didn't recognize half of it, but it was no matter. Food was food, and so long as it wasn't dripping with sugar, he had no problem with it. His condition at breakfast had kept him from eating anything all day, so the food was welcome.

He took a seat to himself and kept a wary eye on the doorway leading in. Fai would have to come through that door eventually. He was welcome to avoid sitting with Kurogane - the Shinobi wouldn't have minded if he didn't - but he wouldn't be avoiding Kurogane's glare. They still had things to settle. Not now with the people in white around, but later tonight when things changed.

[hope you don't mind.]

So that had been Uchiha Itachi? Admittedly, Zabuza's first impression wasn't all that... impressive, but in this place it was hard to find out how strong a person really was. Perhaps the Uchiha clan hadn't really been as strong as everyone had thought? Perhaps they were all like that brat Sasuke? Then again, Zabuza knew better to judge a person's strength without fighting him, and part of him really did want to fact Itachi, just to test how powerful he really was.

Zabuza grabbed some meat to eat and then turned to go to his usual table where he always watched the door. Some other man was sitting there, but that didn't stop him. He wasn't shy and he didn't run away just because someone else was sitting in his spot. Instead, he just went over the table and sat right next to the man, not even paying him any attention. He also completely ignored the orderlies following him around because of his part in the riot.

ZEX engaged the nurse who accompanied him in small talk to be polite, but when they entered the cafeteria he broke off mid-word in favor of something infinitely more important. Where could his human have gotten off to...? Surely he must be here.

Ah, there he was. Unaware of his presence for now, but that was fine with him. He liked the advantage of surprise. Rather than exercising his usual caution about human foodstuffs, he picked up a little of everything available for dinner, and tried to keep everything in balance on his tray while he walked. Ironic that a body that was so stiff and rigid would feel so untrustworthy.

He glanced around with the intention of making it look like he wasn't making a direct line for the Captain, but he found that he couldn't keep it up for very long.

"Fancy meeting you here, Captain!" ZEX said, with a perhaps inappropriately satisfied smile. "What are the odds? Hee! Hee! Hee!" Mmm, he's so beautiful. After a short pause where ZEX practically leered at him without much shame, he adjusted his tray slightly and tried to keep his voice smooth. "I was just wondering if, since you were so helpful and informative with me before, if you might explain some of these... items. Human food is still quite foreign to me, and the utensils even more so."

ZEX shifted his weight onto one foot in what he thought might be a coquetteish way, but instead he nearly lost his balance entirely. He cut a rather pathetic figure trying to make sure everything on his tray stayed in place and salvage what dignity he had in the process.

ZEX stared at his tray with a tinge of disappointment, like it was the tray's fault he'd overbalanced, and then he smiled at the Captain sheepishly, although that was not the emotion he thought he was conveying. "There was something else I wanted to ask you as well, actually. I'm surprised I didn't ask before, but I suppose I lost track of time."

[ waiting for Hanyuu~! ♥ ]

The rest of the shower was uneventful, as Rika and Hanyuu had to leave Mion and Rena to their own devices. Rika briefly wondered if she would be able to squeeze some information out of Rena, but... well, Rena and Mion would hopefully tell her about the events of last night eventually.

But it still frustrated Rika, to never be able to find out what her friends were thinking. She was aware, as always, that something was wrong, but she never knew the extent of her friend's suffering until it was too late.

Well, at least she had Hanyuu to tell her everything, as usual. But now, even her friend didn't really know what had happened to Mion, it seemed. After getting her dinner, Rika sat near the door so that she would be able to spot Hanyuu once the other girl walked through the door.

[identity profile] meironohosoku.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
For the first time since realizing she had gained a physical form, Hanyuu wished she could become invisible once more. At least then she'd be able to listen in on important conversations, and report back to Rika accordingly. Unfortunatly, as with everything in this place, the matter was out of her hands, and the spirit was forced to continue without knowing what had happened.

The cafeteria was still emptier than usual when Hanyuu entered, making it easy to spot Rika. Her first thought was to immediately return to her friends side, although she did have enough of a mind to get some dinner first.

Setting her tray on the table, Hanyuu sat beside the other girl and commented, "That... didn't turn out so well, did it..?"

Renji felt a little better, after seeing Rukia. Yes, she was hurt, and obviously worried about her brother. And it was still disconcerting that she was minus a couple of toes. But she was still basically okay, and that was the important part. Beyond that, there was something for her to do tonight that would help her feel useful but also keep her from getting hurt more. It was a solution he liked.

He didn't feel light-hearted precisely when he got his dinner, but he did feel relieved. And the food looked pretty good. Maybe this Western barbecue would taste like Chinese barbecue. He really liked that stuff. And even better, he managed to get his mashed potatoes without gravy so he didn't have to waste the time scraping the nasty stuff off.

He took a seat where he'd be able to keep an eye out, though he wasn't looking for anyone in particular, and started eating his dinner.

Overall, the shower shift had been a good experience. Kairi was in a good mood after Naminé’s kind words, and now she was all re-bandaged and ready to go. Her hair was still damp (she had tried to towel it off the best she could) but it wasn’t all that bad.

Moving into the cafeteria, she even waved goodbye to her nurse when the woman left. Dinner in the cafeteria was a weird thought, but she really had no qualms over it. Rukia was a nice girl, but she couldn’t help but sometimes feel claustrophobic in that tiny room. At least now she was able to eat with whomever she wanted.

But who?

The place was mostly empty, and she sighed. Well, so far there was no one she knew – Oh, except for Renji.

Kairi blushed as worry filled her. Should she go and greet him? She hadn’t spoken to him in a while as it were anyway … so …

Moving silently towards Renji with her tray balancing in one hand, Kairi gave the older man a shy smile and waved with her wrapped hand. “Hello, Renji.”

Jack was amused. Highly amused. Not that he wasn't normally, but he found the idea of all the prisoners that had gotten into fights having to sit bracketed by the large, knuckle-dragging orderlies. It made him more glad than ever that he'd just slept through the entire mess.

And there was barbecue. He was a big fan of barbecue; he'd spent a little time in the United States, in Texas to be precise, during the mid-twentieth century. Those people had made barbecue into an art form. He doubted this would be up to the standards, but it was still certain to be better than anything he'd been able to get in Wales for the last decade.

He loaded his plate up and found himself a place to sit; there weren't many people in the cafeteria yet. Hopefully someone interesting would sit near him soon.

[Feel free to Falcon Punch me if you're waiting for someone else. 8D;]

Insolent nurses... Luxord tried to get into contact with Naminé when he was sure she was properly dressed and clean, wanted to warn her about her pathetic Other... And of course, Nursey McNursingson just had to deny him this because she "didn't want him causing another scene."

Fine then. He'd do it on his own time. Obnoxious, rude little...

With the conversation with Anya still fresh in mind, X entered the cafeteria (and made a face at the offered pork. Disgusting.) to see a familiar face. Perfect.

"Pleasure seeing you so soon, Mr. Harkness," the Nobody greeted, smile wide. "And how has this fine facility been treating you?"

Faust frowned down at the food the nurse had piled on his plate. Something about needing to put some meat on his bones, then she'd laughed and he hadn't gotten the joke.

Taking a seat, he kept contemplating the food like it was some kind of strange monster ready to leap up and attack him.

[waiting for Kyon and Akabane :3]

Ginji didn't mind having dinner the in the cafeteria. He liked being around big crowds after all. He thought about trying to stand to walk to the line, but he thought he might as well save that for the night, when there weren't people watching him if he failed.

He piled his meal onto his plate, all too happy with the sight of the food. He really was never going to get used to having so much food every day. Then he sat it in his lap and used the wheelchair, that he was also getting very used to, back to a table to eat.

He politely gave thanks for the meal and then started eating. He had missed breakfast this morning, so the food was even more delicious to him.

[identity profile] bloodysurgeon.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Not having breakfast was definitely a mistake, Akabane decided. He hadn't realized just how hungry he was until he entered the cafeteria. Filling his tray, Dr. Jackal looked around for a seat. It was relatively empty, with only a few people present. None of them were familiar- wait. A slow smile spread over his face as he strode over to the table with its sole occupant. Not even being flanked by the two orderlies could ruin his amusement now.

Setting his tray down across from Ginji, Akabane fixed the boy with a most disarming smile.

"My, my, Ginji-kun. I must say what an absolute delight it is to see you here."

Dinner was going to be in the cafeteria? That was certainly different, but given what had happened during breakfast, this whole day had been different. And by different she meant odd, especially when compared to the typical Landel's day.

Nevertheless, MOMO gathered her dinner without questioning her nurse about the slight change (the woman on the intercom had given a reason for it, anyway). Honestly, though it was a little strange, it was nice to have things changed around for once. Living by the same basic schedule day in and day out became tiresome after a while.

As she sat at a table, the realian only hoped they were able to return to their rooms before night fell. Not only were her journal and maps there, but she was supposed to meet someone there shortly after nightshift began.

[Care if a Mazoku lord joins you?]

Phibrizzo did not want to deal with the princess again this meal. If anything, he did not want to deal with her ever again. In fact, in a perfect world, she would have been struck dead the moment she opened her mouth to cry his name that morning. But things were not that 'perfect' at the moment and he had the feeling he would be dealing with her for quite some time. At least she wouldn't speak his presence around. He hoped.

He'd have to disappear amongst the other patients and go unnoticed. Even if she saw him, it would give her the impression that he was pulling strings or finding joy out of stringing someone along for his master plans, whatever she supposed those might be. Therefore, he took his food and sidled up to a 'nice' looking soul, playing the age card to its fullest. "Excuse me, miss? May I join you?"

[free to bug, since Hermione dropped]

Harry didn't really pay attention to his plate as dinner was served. He was looking around the room, completely distracted by the thoughts of Hermione being here. So far the mess hall wasn't filled very much, but he would have to keep his eyes open to find her. If she really was here... he wasn't sure what he would do. For one, he would be grateful to have his friend with him. Hermione was one of the few people he could really count on. The problem was that he wasn't really okay with the idea of anyone he cared about being in danger.

He moved to sit at a table where he could see the rest of the room, nervously torn between wanting to see her and the hope that the person who had posted on the bulletin board had been incorrect.

[Attack of the red-heads!]

It wasn't that far from where he and Kairi had been to the person he was hoping was Harry Potter. Renji set his tray down across from the young man and sat. He wasn't all that good with the social niceties; he tended to forget them at times.

"Evening," he said. "I think we've been wanting to meet. I'm Abarai Renji. And this is Kairi." Introductions were always important, after all.

Naoto had enjoyed a relatively quiet day, even with all the strangeness and chaos. A shower, a bit of uninterrupted time in the library with a decent book, and now dinner--in the cafeteria instead of in their rooms. Naoya would come in soon enough, and they would likely sit together--yes, Naoto was about as pleased as he could be. He didn't mind his roommate, but he would much rather spend his time with his little brother.

He took the 'vegetarian alternative' to the barbecued meat sandwich, and sat down to one side of the room, watching the door intently for Naoya.

[identity profile] entropy-effect.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
It wasn't usual for Naoya to sleep through the day, he had done it several times before--usually after a painful meeting with even more painful memories. What was odd, though, was that Naoya couldn't think of anything traumatic that happened the day before and-

He was scared. He wanted to see his brother, to make sure he was okay and once again he didn't know why. His brother was always okay whenever Naoya got into these kinds of states, but right now the young man didn't care. He had to see for himself, he couldn't assume that his brother wasn't hurt.

Not when he was just a bundle of nerves.

The walk to the cafeteria had taken longer than it seemed and Naoya found himself wanting to run, as if getting there sooner would fix everything. Yet he managed to, somehow, control himself and eventually his nurse escorted him into the packed room where Naoya looked around worriedly. He wanted to believe he was being paranoid, but he felt like this before and...

"Come on James, you have to get something to eat," his nurse spoke, breaking into his thoughts. Naoya turned to look at her, eyes pleading.

"Please, I need to find my brother, I just want to see if he's alright..." Miraculously, the woman didn't press the subject and merely left Naoya at the door to get him his dinner. Once gone, Naoya returned to his search, quickly locating his brother within moments before he started towards the older sibling.

[free to annoy]

Knives had so far been reserved judgment about this place. His roommate had told him that night would show the truth, so he waited until then to made the choice if everyone in this place was really crazy, or if what they were saying was what was really going on. If the first was true... then Knives had to consider a few things about his own mental state. The second at least gave him the thought that someone more powerful than him had forced his body back into one piece and had taken him from Gunsmoke to bring him here.

He wasn't hungry so instead he walked to a table and sat down, arms crossed and waiting. When the sunset he would know for sure what was really going on and then he could make up his own mind what to do next.

[identity profile] mozenwrath.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Mozenrath wasn't hungry; he was still bitter about the whole situation. Where was Nakago? He wanted to leave and there was no one to help him take on the staff. Perhaps, if he was "so easy" to find, his caretakers could do the work for me.

"If I must be forced to eat," he glowered at the latest woman assigned to leading him. "I wish to be with Nakago."

Of course that produced confused expressions and contension that there was no one "at Landel's" named Nakago. Idiots, every last one of his jailors, or else damn fine actors. The sorcerer gritted his teeth. "He's blond, you buffoons! And he's strong looking! And I do not care what you say, there is someone here by that name!"

The nurse scanned the cafeteria, once again insisting that there was no one there with the name 'Nakago'. Her face lit up slightly as she spotted someone. "Oh, you must mean Michael," she laughed. She motioned to the man she to whom she referred.

Mozenrath took one look at 'Michael'. He didn't even have blond hair! THIS WAS RIDICULOUS! "No," he said flatly.

"Michael's sitting all by himself! He could use the company! Don't you think so?"

"No. I do not wish to speak with 'Michael'. I'm looking for Nakago."

"I think you and Michael would get along just fine!" She chirpped, taking his hand and starting to lead the man. Mozenrath pulled his arm back.

"Don't touch me!" He snapped. The nurse looked pained, but then motioned to the orderlies that waited around the room. She nodded to Mozenrath.

"Mr. Mami, if you don't behave,..."

Mozenrath stared incredulously at her. How dare she threaten him! WHERE WAS NAKAGO? However, he was ill equipped to face down the stronger men and he knew it. Muttering a string of curses under his breath, he didn't even bother to take any food. He stalked over to the table Knives had chosen and sat down, glaring at the nurse the whole time. Without so much as paying the Plant mind, he said dryly, "Hello, Michael. I'm here to keep you company."

Quatre was calm as he entered the cafeteria and looked around briefly before making it to the line to get his food and sit back down. He sort of wished he had thought to bring his journal with him, seeing as the bulletin board had had a long list of the monsters in this place that people had come across, but at least he had managed to read it over a few times and commit most of it to memory. He noticed Renji in the room but he was already talking to a girl around Quatre's age.

He set to eating his dinner, remembering that the food would give him the energy he needed to face the night. Perhaps now he could actually get something done. He was still a little more than worried about Heero and Duo though, he hadn't seen them all day.

Apparently, Omi'd taken a bit longer about his shower than he'd thought. It had just been nice to relax for a while, and for once no one had bothered him. Sometimes he just wanted a good bath, though. First thing he'd do when he got home would be to soak for a week.

At least the hot water had loosened up his arm, so he didn't have trouble with the tray like he had at breakfast. He didn't see Aya, Ken, or Yohji, so he chose a seat at random, which happened to be next to another boy. "Hey."

Haku walked into the cafeteria and spotted Zabuza-san instantly. He bowed his head slightly to his Master before heading to the food line. The meat looked .... strange, so he asked for the 'alternative' instead.

Food in hand, he found a fairly empty spot and sat down, looking around as he began to eat.

[identity profile] tsunagari.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 02:40 am (UTC)(link)

The situation in the cafeteria this evening had Sai frowning in thought as he walked slowly through the tables with his tray. The fact that they were in the cafeteria at all and not in their rooms might be trouble. With all the orderlies around, and the fact that dinner shift usually went straight into nightshift...

He caught sight of the boy from the showers earlier, finding it odd that he had an escort. He hadn't seemed like the type to join in the rioting, but Sai wasn't always the best judge of character. And then there was Haku a few tables closer. Taking a seat beside the Mist ninja, Sai leaned closer and said "Are you worried, leaving your friend over there?"

Should he look for Usopp? He would have an escort too...

[This Space Reserved for Pirate Hunter Zoro]

Working on a ship had built up Usopp's muscle tone quite a bit, though he remained generally wiry in build (when putting it politely; scrawny might also be appropriate) especially when not actually straining any muscles. And so the happily smiling and freshly cleaned young pirate looked pretty funny with a burly guard on either side, when each one of them looked as though they could easily wrestle the kid to the ground and hold him there should he start anything.

Usopp had no intentions of starting anything other than dinner, fortunately. Barbecue was practically 'party food' in Usopp's book, and although this tasted a little different from the way he'd always had it cooked it was good. It also sounded from the intercom as though Dr. Landel was going to be coming back for the night. In a weird way, that pleased him; it was strange to have the nurse talking instead, especially at night, when he had seen what the nurses became. He'd never seen Dr. Landel himself but could imagine him as some unassuming evil man in a labcoat at a speaker. Much less disturbing. If he'd just had his bandanna to keep his hair out of his eyes, he'd have had nothing to complain about. And that after running over a table and giving someone a bloody nose! This place really was different in the daytime.

... Unless the punishment would come at night. Suddenly Usopp didn't feel quite as cheerful.

[*parks car*]

The sight of his nakama flanked by two guards wasn't something that really surprised Zoro anymore. Of course, this was Usopp, not any of the others commonly associated with the words "reckless endangerment" but the sniper was a Straw Hat Pirate. Trouble was an integral part of their lifestyle whether they wanted it to be or not.

"Hey Usopp," Was his greeting as he settled across the table from the sniper. "I need to ask you something."

By the time Archer had got to the cafeteria there were only a few people there. That meant he got his pick of the seats. Oh joy. At least he was having barbecue for a meal. Hopefully it was decently made because he hadn't had any for awhile now. That was how many centuries or millenia ago? It was hard to keep track of among all the evil entities he whacked that endangered the world. He picked up some barbecue, mashed potatoes, and vegetable mix consisting of corn, carrots, and string beans before finding an empty seat by himself.

[Hope you don't mind a hungry demon companion for dinner ^^; ]

Afetr the showers, with all of the people there so utterly helpless, Argilla had managed to spend a shift curled up in the furthest corner of the games room, studiously ignoring everyone as much as she could. She intended to do the same when dinner came, which she was glad to know wasn't to be in their rooms alone with their roommate. She didn't want to take it.

But the nurses shook her head and told her that she should be socialising, not sitting on her own all the time and guided her to a seat near a white haired man. Argilla suppressed the urge to snarl, or even worse, try to bit her. The orderly on the bus had been edible, why not the nurses?

But no, she wasn't Heat. She could control herself.

She took a seat and began to poke at the food which looked even less appetising than it had last night.

ext_203323: Malcolm Jamieson as Armand St. Just in The Scarlet Pimpernel looking down while outside with a tree in background (distant)

[identity profile] secret-orchard.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The announcement was from that woman again, Nurse Lydia not Dr. Landel. Armand resisted being made to stand as long as possible. Finally the orderly who'd spoken more often said, "It's time for dinner, Gilles. I'm sure after missing lunch, you're hungry." It was exactly what one of the kindlier female nurses would have said, but the tone was far more hostile.

Armand glared at the man, then sighed. "I am thirsty," he admitted. With that nominal permission, both men hauled him upright and led him to the cafeteria. They escorted him through the line, supervising his choices then sitting on either side of him at the table. It wasn't crowded yet, but Armand predicted that it would rapidly become so with more orderlies seating themselves with the "troublemakers."

The meat smelled strange with some heavy red sauce on it. He poked at it dubiously then drank down his water, hoping to be hungrier when he wasn't so dry-mouthed.

[identity profile] roger-hug.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Bridget had had an enjoyable shower time with Usopp, and not he got to eat! Roger in hand, he carefully picked out a selection of potatos, veggies, and water and then scanned the room for a place to sit. He brightened when he spotted the familiar face of Armand, but frowned when he saw the two giant men flanking him.

He walked up, rather hesitantly, and smiled up at them for a moment before looking down at Armand.

"Um... can I sit with you?"

For a few moments, Kikyo's touch lingered on the plastic keys, smooth alabaster beneath his cool fingertips. The feeble note had died away a long time ago, too solitary to carry a tune on its own. And then without a word Kikyo stepped away, finding a seat somewhere in the music room where he stayed for the remainder of the time, idly drifting on from time to time.

There was a light touch on his shoulder. He peered up through his dark strands of hair with a set of cold placid eyes.

"A shame that you should waste your time in here without any music," the nurse said with a smile and a voice that was gently reproaching.

With a brief chuckle, Kikyo replied. "Ah...but perhaps there is music in silence, too. Have you thought of that?"

"I would be more apt to believe you, if you didn't appear so bored," she teased.

Bored? True enough, there was little he found amusing, here. Even less so than the world he had left, which was equally colorless. His lips curled into a pale smile as he rose to his feet.

"Boredom, I am afraid, is a constant companion," he answered absently.

Kikyo followed as he was led, back to the cafeteria for the evening meal. Upon a tray, he set a sparse array of vegetables and drink.

His fingers curled around the tea cup as he took a sip, his food as usual, remaining largely untouched upon his plate.

So, a midget, a Fable, and a blind guy arrive in heaven...

Jack was still trying to figure out the best joke to tell in regards to his traveling party for the evening. If there wasn't the potential that Mark really did know what he was talking about and had a good idea where Jack's key went, the Fable might have decided to blow the arrangement off.

Of course, being so amused lowered the Fable's attention to detail and by the time he realized who he had seated himself across from, it was too late to leave and not appear awkward. "Oh."

[Waiting for Allen.]

When the shift changed, Rukia managed to scoot back into her wheelchair before any nurses could make a fuss over the fact that she had been in Renji's lap. Squeezing his hand, she waited for a moment as the nurse approached, and was wheeled into the cafeteria.

She wasn't very happy about being stuck with an orderly on each side of her; maybe she could convince at least one of them to go away...

She needed to speak to Allen, but he wasn't in the cafeteria yet. While one of her assigned orderlies came to take her chair, another went to fill a tray of food for her. When all three were seated, Rukia smiled sweetly. "Oh, thank you so much. You really didn't need to go to such trouble."

The dark haired one, who had gotten her food, gave her a sidelong glance. "Just doing our jobs." Hm, she would have to work on them. For the time being, though, she kept an eye out for Allen and dug into her food; she hadn't eaten since dinner the previous night, after all.

The shower had served its purpose, despite being humiliating and stressful. He couldn't very well complain though. The young captain said his schedule was busy and he had no reason not to believe that. He didn't know much about the other boy, but he was always writing things up on the board and making assignments.

He saw a few people he knew, but he wasn't very excited about meeting with any of them, especially the shinigami. If he couldn't control his Innocence again, what if he hurt someone else too? There was no sign of Rinali yet either. He wanted to speak with her, if only to selfishly ease his conscience and repeat to her what most everyone else had told him. There was a chance, if a slim one, that the monster hadn't been her brother. Allen wasn't sure he believed it himself, but it was better than having no hope at all, wasn't it? He didn't expect her to forgive him, regardless. It was simply too much to ask.

He took what food the nurses gave him and seated himself at least a few tables from the people he knew. He felt exhausted and wasn't thrilled about eating for once, but he knew if he didn't, he'd have no one to blame but himself if he couldn't protect anyone.

[Waiting on Vlad. Maybe. If Vlad still wants to chat. If not, s'all good!]

Mousse was a bit miffed when he sat down to dinner. True, it had probably been for the best that Sousuke had stepped in and stopped the fight in the showers, but the Amazon was not one to back down from a fight, especially not one that was uncalled. He tried to think why the other man might have hit him for no reason-- it wasn't as if he had mistaken him for another.

Sighing, he began to eat. He had taking a bit of everything, but none of it really made him feel any better. At least he'd have something in him. Skipping breakfast, albeit unintentionally, meant that he'd have to eat well this meal to keep his stamina up.

[identity profile] vladville.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Vlad loves his minio... wait, that's Freakshow's line, never mind!]

Ah. Barbecue. How... charming. Given the choice, he'd taken the vegetarian option; it was probably at least a bit healthier. Then it was time to decide where to sit.

Looking around and seeing the boy unaccompanied was almost tempting, but Daniel could be touchy and might see it as an imposition to spend both meals together. Although it was odd to see Daniel appearing to pick at his food--Vlad would have thought this sort of thing would be right up the regular Nasty Burger patron's alley. Ah, well.

Besides, it was more important to meet new people for the moment than to concern himself with Daniel. Already he'd gotten more information just from the brief conversations with Edgeworth than from his breakfast with Daniel, and there was such an odd variety of people here, at least a slightly wider base of acquaintances was in order.

Nearly randomly, he chose an Asian young man who looked a bit displeased but not hostile, and sat down after a polite, "Pardon me, do you mind if I take this spot?"

[Schwarz meeting tiem!]

Well, pork wasn't red meat, but at least it was meat of some kind, so Farfarello figured it would have to do for now. He'd have to be careful about cleaning any trace of sauce off his fingers and mouth, though--the last thing he needed was Roland deciding he smelled extra tasty with barbecue sauce.

Farfarello looked around for Schuldig, but he didn't seem to be here yet. Sending out a thought that he wanted to speak with him, he waited for the telepath to come find him.

[identity profile] k4t4str0ph4l.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Farfarello didn't have to wait long. Within a minute, Schuldig had slid into the seat next to him. "What a coincidence," he remarked. "I wanted to speak to you, too. But it might as well wait a minute; I think our fearless leader is planning on gracing us with his presence tonight."

He grinned, tapping the gauze over his cheek. "Looks like I'm the one nursing a war wound tonight. Look what happens when I don't keep you around."

[Free to bother!]

After her shower Usagi took a seat in the cafeteria with a plate covered in food. Landel's food was never spectacular, but she was growing to enjoy it more and more, she could never say no to a free meal!

Usagi didn't wait to start digging into her food, she wasn't meeting anyone for the dinner shift; she would find Ami later tonight, along with her roommate and Kunzite if all went well. They would be heading to the shed in the field to look for weapons, maybe they'd actually be successful this time! And tomorrow she would see what she could do about getting her and Ami in a club...

((I hope you don't mind. He's met her before, but he was blind then... If you'd rather now, let me know and he's gone. ^^))

Takaya was escorted into the cafeteria with an upset nurse. Apparently, she was annoyed at his behavior and thought he needed to spend sometime with less .... unsavory types. Maybe someone calm would keep your temper under control.

Tray of food in hand, he was shoved down into a seat across from a blond girl that looked .... familiar.

[reserved for the twin!]

The barbecued pork smelled really, really good--almost like the filling of nikuman. The fact that Subaru liked meat just fine made it more difficult for him to stick to a strictly vegetarian diet here, but he just couldn't take the risk that his powers would be weakened if he ate meat. So, with one last, longing look at the barbecued pork, Subaru took the vegetarian option and headed over to the tables.

[identity profile] akarusa.livejournal.com 2008-02-24 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Hokuto had no makeup to apply, no clothing choices to agonize over, and really couldn't do much with her hair, and she still took forever getting out of the bathroom. No matter how many times the nurse currently assigned to her (or any of the others) told her she looked fine and she just had to be careful so the bleeding didn't start again, she was still in front of a mirror for a while to make sure she'd at least wiped away all traces of blood; nearly a week in Landels, out every night, and rarely idle, and she'd managed to give herself her first injury. Worse (in her eyes), running into the wall had left its mark on the outside of her nose, too... didn't she look just wonderful.

At least they were having dinner in the cafeteria instead of having to spend another shift in their rooms. She'd missed having dinner with Subaru, and she wanted to find out how he was doing, what he'd been up to. Even when knowing the answer hurt.

Finding him was easy; she couldn't actually read his mind (technically), but she still had no trouble finding him in a crowd, no matter how packed it was. "Good evening," she smiled, dropping into the seat next to his. As good as the pork sounded, she'd elected to take the vegetarian option; it was what Subaru would be having, and he shouldn't have to watch her eating something he couldn't have.

Danny wasn't particularly hungry, because he'd actually eaten breakfast. But he wasn't going to skip a meal. After all, if he was going to stay up all night (running, no less), he didn't want to go without food. Especially since he'd be running around a lot. No powers meant all he could do was run and hope he wouldn't get caught. Maybe if he were sleeping all night he'd go without dinner...

Danny took his dinner and sat down at a table, poking at it for several moments before he began to actually eat it. He wasn't expecting anyone to sit down and start talking with him, but that was fine by him. After this, night would fall shortly, and Danny would have to go out without any powers. Maybe it would be okay...after all, he made it through last night just fine, with less injury than when he did have his powers, so all hope was not lost. He was just nervous about it. And being so nervous made him lose his appetite.

Perfect. So when he wanted to eat, he couldn't.

Peony was glad that he'd finally been able to get something to work with that little beeping box. So the Nintendo GAME BOY TM was all right! He'd have to utilize it again another time, now that he'd finally gotten the hang of turning on Super Mario Land (and promptly dying thirty-two times in a row.) He had to tell other people about this miraculous piece of fontech he'd discovered!

The emperor felt surprisingly like Gailardia, getting so excited over a piece of fontech. But.. watching the little man hop down the holes in the ground was so fun! Even if after every couple of times the game insisted that it was, in fact, over.

At any rate, it was a worthy distraction from his hunger. He hadn't eaten today, after all! How did they get off doing something like this, not feeding their patients just 'cause they wanted to sleep a little late in the morning?! Maaaaaan.

There weren't many empty tables left by the time the nurse finally dragged him away from the Nintendo GAME BOY TM and led him down the dinner line. If there were any familiar faces here, Peony didn't feel like looking for any of them. He'd see them later, anyway. And then Jade would insist on clinging to him. In the phrasing of Anise Tatlin, boooooo.

So Peony plopped his tray down at the first table he saw with only one person at it, a knowing little smile crossing his features as he began to eat his food with an oddly intense refinement. His speech, however, was significantly less refined. "Hey, uhhh, you doin' okay?"

There had been no lunch, after all, which Frey gathered was not usual, so he hadn't yet had a chance to find the person he'd spoken with on the message board. After a day full of strangeness and unfamiliar things, Frey found he was quite desperately wanting to speak with someone from his world, even if that someone seemed rather abrasive.

Frey took the tray of food offered by a helpful nurse, though he hardly noticed what was on it, and sought out a table that was visible from the door. Hopefully that person still wanted to speak with him, and would be able to find him in this crowd.

Brows instantly furrowing, the Star Dragon Sword snapped at his nurse as she urged him over to where the food trough was stations – the manner they employed here really was just like feeding livestock. Shaking the woman off, he angrily took the tray of food before setting back to finding his quarry. The moment he’d entered into the cafeteria he had been hit with a distant sense similar to that of that damned Sun Rune. It could be any possible connection, but he needed to find out for himself.

He’d spotted that treacherous rock skulking over in one of the corners – undoubtedly watching his every move – but paid the man no heed. Walking slowly past each table, he followed the subtle trail through the room until he found the one he’d been searching for. Dropping his tray on the table, the short man expression remained firmly set into a scowl as he addressed them. “You’re the one from the board correct? The one from that blasted Queendom.”

Decorum was never something the Night Rune incarnation had been good at.

Armed with his journal and the extra pages stuck between, Ken entered the cafeteria with the intent of searching for Yukari. He cared little for the food (even if he hadn't eaten properly the last few days) or the crowd; the boy just wanted to get started on tonight's plans. Of course, he had no idea what they could accomplish, but if the maps and the description from the bulletin were remotely useful, they could hopefully pick out what to work on.

Plus, there was a subject Ken wished to bring up with his older teammate.

Unable to find the brown-haired girl, he took the nearest open seat to the entrance. A nurse noticed the boy's lack of a tray and immediately brought over some food, an act he ignored, opting instead to watch out for Yukari.

[identity profile] remedying.livejournal.com 2008-02-23 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)

Although the food announced didn't sound like anything Yukari would want to eat, her breakfast from earlier had been interrupted and she couldn't deny she'd gotten hungry again. At least the shower made her feel somewhat more better than before.

As soon as she entered the cafeteria, Yukari immediately went on the lookout for Ken. Luckily it didn't take long before she spotted him, being so close to the door. She wanted to approach him first before doing anything else, but the nurse that accompanied her persisted she get some food first before she do anything first. Irritably, she agreed-- Yukari wasn't in the mood to put up an argument with anyone-- and grabbed what she could fast enough to make the staff member shake her head with a sigh.

Finally, Yukari was able to get to the table Ken was at. Across the table, she set down her tray of food and plopped down in the chair, letting out an exasperated breath. The day wasn't even over yet and she was already feeling exhausted with everything.

"Good, finding you wasn't that difficult."
