Day 30: Cafeteria, Dinner

The cafeteria was all but empty when Zelnick got there. He was a little disappointed; he had gotten the impression that patients usually ate dinner in their rooms, so he hadn't arranged to meet anyone, and there really wasn't anyone to sit by and engage in conversation yet.

Quietly, he collected dinner and a big glass of orange juice, and chose a seat near the food-serving counters. Talking for so long had made him thirsty... and, well, fruit juice was a luxury he had missed.

Takaya's frown deepened. "Shit. Can you fight at all?"

He was getting more and more tense inside. If they both weren't careful it would translate to physical anxiety and then Takaya wouldn't be any good to anyone.

"Well... kind of-- why?"

Usagi remembered Takaya being very coarse the last time they met, but he was starting to act just plain strange... It was making the princess a little nervous.

Takaya turned slightly and glanced around at the orderlies in the room.

"Because there's a really good fucking chance that we're going to be screwed. I don't think we're going to go back to our rooms before night starts..."

"W-why would they do that?" Usagi asked nervously as she searched a little harder to spot a familiar mop of blue hair in the sea of people. Takaya was spooking the girl, and if something really was going to happen Usagi wanted to know Ami was safe...

Takaya snorted. "Hell if I know." He glanced at Usagi and frowned. Could he try to NOT freak out at least one person during the course of a day.

"Uh," he began awkwardly. "Look, I'm sure it's going to be okay. As long as you, you know, uh, are prepared. Just in case." Well, that came out smoothly. Dumbass.

"Oh... okay," Usagi gulped, Takaya's words didn't do much to sooth her anxiety. Today had just been so weird, her paranoia was beginning to get the best of her! At least the girl finally spotted Ami, the other senshi was talking to her hairy friend Logan.

"So... can you fight?"

Takaya pushed his plate away finally, not having touched anything on it, and frowned at the table. "Sometimes." He could hold his own in a good fight, and he could use weapons. He wasn't sure he could take on any and all comers though he would fucking try.

He nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, I can fight."

Usagi stared mournfully at Takaya's discarded plate as he spoke, how could anyone waste food like that!

"You know, even if you aren't going to do anything tonight you really should eat... it's not healthy to skip meals."

Takaya shrugged. "I ate earlier. I'm not hungry anymore." The food was still warm so he pushed it slightly in Usagi's direction. "If you want it, you can have it."

The offer was one of his better attempts at being polite. He wasn't very good at it.

"No, I'm full!" Usagi shook her head, blushing slightly. Normally she would have jumped over the table to get free food, but she felt too guilty taking it from this boy. "But thank you," she added with a smile.

Takaya shrugged a shoulder. "Suit yourself." He wasn't feeling as upset as he had been before. He wondered for a moment why. Usually, all it took was human contact and he was ready to beat the hell out of someone. This otaku wasn't pissing him off.

It was ... refreshing. Not that he'd admit it. He tried to relax a bit, his expression losing some of it's anger as he settled a bit more into his chair. What good would it do to be so upset now anyway?
