Day 29: Cafeteria, Brunch

Hitsugaya left the chapel no less frustrated than before. The head doctor once again had chosen not to hide his face, yet promised he would be making an appearance at some time in the near future. He didn't like being patient, but there wasn't much choice. Either the head doctor would show his face, or he wouldn't. Renji had already seen him, and knew how to find him. That was enough.

The thought of eating made him slightly nauseous as usual, but he knew he needed to get his strength up. He could either be weak and try to force his way through brunch without eating anything, or he could be smart and actually give himself something to eat. And there was rice. Rice and fruit. He took a heaping pile of rice, and grabbed as much watermelon as he could fit on his plate, then proceeded to an empty table. He scanned the room, watching for Momo. He wasn't exactly looking forward to their conversation, knowing how she'd acted yesterday; however, he knew he had to speak to her, and there was a good chance that she would show more restraint now that the drugs were out of her system.

Thoughtfully he consumed his rice and waited.

[Waiting for Claire.]

Kadaj didn't think he'd be able to eat when Mother's visit was still on the way-- or was she not coming to see him again? He didn't think he'd be able to stand it if she didn't. Even if she wasn't his real mother, just the thought of her not wanting to see him again...

Shoving these thoughts from his mind, he piled a random assortment of food onto his plate and found a relatively secluded part of the cafeteria to sit. He wasn't going to eat anything, of course, but he could still entertain himself with it until the shift was over... in theory. It had to be worth a shot, right?

Staring down at the food with an expression of deep disgust (why had he gotten those sausage patties again?), he began listlessly pushing it around his plate. It didn't improve his lack of appetite any, sure, but at least it was something to do.

Claire had wanted to stay and talk to Logan a bit more, but the nurses were leading everyone out the door and she lost track of him. There'd be other opportunities to talk to him -- and there was a bit of comfort knowing he wasn't as rough as he looked.

Grabbing some waffles and muffins on the side, Claire scanned the room for any familiar faces. It seemed none of her friends had arrived yet, and the place was filling up quickly.

Heading towards the back of the cafeteria, she spotted a less crowded area where one boy was sitting alone. Well, it couldn't hurt to meet new people, could it?

He couldn't help but feel much relieved after talking with Cliff. For a while yesterday there had been that terrible sinking fear that he would just disappear or die. It wouldn't have suprised him. Anyone he... that he liked seemed to end up in a bad way, he just had to hope that this time it wasn't by his own hand if it was going to happen.

He needed to check on Omi and Ken at least, make sure that bthey were okay since he hadn't got much chance to start patching Omi up last night. But for now he felt up to eating a little food. Rice, something Japanese at last.

[ooc; unknowlingly waiting for William Birkin]

Did they had any meat that wasn't burned?!

Though conversation with Kratos had been informative regarding the purpose of these chapels, the shift change seemed to be coming as some sort of relief. He had been hungry ever since he had awakened this morning.

But now that it actually was time to sooth his appetite, Scar was becoming increasingly more irritated with the meals around here. The assortment of food contained some sort of strings, rabbit food, things he didn't knew altogether and meat that was anything but the raw meals he was used to. He could live with the fact there wasn't any zebra or antelope, but this?!

Eventually, he sat at an empty table while glaring at his hamburger. He poked the offensive piece of food with one of the eating utensils, still not sure whether to eat it or not.

These humans had a talent for complicating simple things such as food. They didn't eat it raw like any normal creature. No, they burned it!

[identity profile] g-resolution.livejournal.com 2007-12-25 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
At last, an escape! Not that the previous conversation was dull or mind-numbingly disinteresting, not in the least, but William had to say he couldn't have been more pleased to know it was time to eat. Though this was more so because he could now work on his notes rather than listen to the troubles of a young, teenaged boy. That was Wesker's department.

After grabbing a meager lunch, the scientist allowed himself to be escorted to a table with one other patient who happened to be glaring at his hamburger. Perhaps he was vegetarian.

[ooc; unknowingly waiting for Cliff]

After piling his plate with random bits of food, Albel dumped it on one of the more secluded tables. He had no desire for any stupid maggots to go and nag him with their useless babble.

Ignoring pretty much everyone else, he began on his meal.

[identity profile] gotahunch.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Cliff made a breakfast sandwich. He'd used the pancakes for bread and tossed just about every other breakfast topping under the sun between them before drowning the whole mass in maple syrup. He was going to get fat and ugly but for some reason..he just felt like it. He was weirdly proud of his creation, the monster that it was.

He didn't really have any plans this shift, so it was obviously Bother Albel Time. Cliff sat across from him without invitation. "Hey Sunshine. Still around, huh?"

[Waiting for Gluttony]

Mousse had been a bit sad to leave Leon's side, somewhat because of the boy's young age and somewhat because their conversation had been interesting. However, he couldn't deny that he was hungry and brunch sounded like a good idea when his nurse showed up to lead him away.

He chose to sit alone, though he wondered if he would stay that way for long. People had a habit of showing up and chatting, and he didn't especially want to eat without company. Ah, well. Someone would come along eventually.

He debated putting his glasses back on, as he had removed them whilst talking to Leon, but he convinced himself that he looked better without them and besides, there were no monsters during the day...

The chapel conversation had been a lot of fun! He liked his notfoodbutnotlust friend. He was great!

But now was time for more food! Not good food, because it didn't scream or cry or beg to nto be eaten, but it was still food. So he piled his plate as high as he could with pancakes and sausages and eggs and hot dogs and rice and french fries and just about everything else that was on the salad bar, so high that he could barely see over it as he held his delicious but not quite as delicious as eating people snack.

He sat down at a table next to some other tasty looking person. He would much rather eat the yummy person, but this food would be ok for now. With a pleasant but vacant smile he acknowledged the tasty man's presence, and then set about devouring his mountain of mismatched foodstuffs.

Brunch had come too soon. Oriya had barely sat down before his nurse was cajoling him to stand up again! The swordsman was tempted to ignore her and just curl up and die, at least that way his head would stop pounding. The cafeteria did nothing to alleviate this and soon Oriya found himself seated at a table with a tray of food the nurse had graciously brought with her and his head pillowed on his arms. There was no such thing as peace in this place...

[identity profile] shiki-master.livejournal.com 2007-12-25 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
No one had bother him during the morning hours, so Tsuzuki was woke in time for brunch. Pulling himself off the comfortable couch was a pain, but he wasn't feeling quite as sick anymore. In fact, a little bit of his appetite had returned, meaning he could probably put away at least a whole plate of food.

Excited to be eating solid food again and being able to keep it down, the shinigami almost didn't notice how dismal everyone seemed this shift... especially a certain familiar face. It would have been easier to pass right by him and sit somewhere else, maybe find Hisoka and make sure he was alright, but Tsuzuki didn't always follow common sense.

"Are you sick, too?" he asked, sitting his tray down next to Oriya and waiting for a reply. He didn't sit down, yet, though. The other man would probably just tell him to get lost anyway.

It had been a week. Though, it seemed longer. Aya felt as if an eternity had passed since he woke up at Landel's last Sunday. Things had changed rather dramatically in a week as well. And kept changing all the time. Now it seemed as if he didn't have time for anything else than making sure everyone close to him were alive and as well as they could be. The lack of progress graded on his nerves, and made him wear a dark frown like a uniform of his irritation.

He picked up something to eat, mostly green stuff with some rise. His elusive appetite demanded fresh and familiar food. He'd need to eat something even if he felt rather like avoiding anything that was supposed to go down from his throat.

He took his tray to a table, not seeing any familiar faces aside from Kudoh's. He seemed uninjured and Aya saw no need to initiate conversation after the cheerful little talk they had shared at the town the day before. Finding an empty spot, he lowered his tray to the table and took a seat carefully, mindful of his wounds.

[identity profile] gentiana-clusii.livejournal.com 2007-12-25 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Ken had gotten his prayers for the next ten years out of the way at the chapel--honestly, he was probably the worst Catholic in the history of Catholicism, but nothing like that really mattered in his eyes. Going through the motions was calming because they didn't really require thought.

Aya and Yohji were both sitting in the cafeteria already once Ken grabbed his tray and loaded it with chicken and some rice. And he wouldn't mind talking to Yohji either, but Aya was closer and he really didn't feel much like moving unnecessarily. He did give Yohji a little grin and a wave though.

"Mornin'," Ken greeted, dropping his tray lightly across from Aya's.

Her first meal with the rest of the prisoners, Beatrix took brunch as a chance to get an idea of who all was also captive. Perhaps by seeing who else was held, she would be able to determine something of Martin Landel and who else he was working with. Like that bitch, Elle.

The Bride limped after the nurse to the cafeteria and chose a seat near the wall where she'd get the best view of the room. No food would she eat from her captor and no liquid would she consume either as she had yet to determine if they were mass drugging the prisoners.

Sighing, she watched the room with a hawk's gaze, scanning everyone as they entered, got food and sat down. She couldn't help but hope beyond all else, that BB would walk through that door.

Well, last night had been interesting. They had barely even made it off the bus and been attacked by giant birds.

Using his ice powers to create a solid weapon must have taken more energy than he expected, because he was quite hungry, and glad that he had slept all the way till brunch.

He had taken as much food as his nurse would allow him to have before moving over to sit with a woman who appeared to be watching the room quite intently. SubZero also noticed that she wasn't eating or drinking anything.

Not the most attractive woman he'd seen here, but as long as she was nothing like the woman who had tried to order him around in the middle of a fight a few nights ago, he really didn't care.

[for Artemis]

Harry was uncomfortable as he found his way into the mess hall. He wasn't all that hungry, but it would be foolish to turn down a meal. He placed at least the more edible things on his plate before he came to the drinks and remembered the request he had gotten on the board for tea. He asked for just the right kind and took it with some plain cool water back to his table. Looking around, he couldn't really see Artemis anywhere, but he planned to keep an eye out for the younger wizard.

[identity profile] byname-bynature.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Artemis entered the cafeteria, refreshed from his talk with Schuldig. Fortunately, the two were over the icy patch in their relationship, and had found they had much in common. It was relieving--at least he wouldn't have to stay around Farfarello while hating his partner's existence. He felt just a little bit more comfortable signaling for help from the telepath now.

Visitors... the thought made him slightly uneasy. He really hoped that he wouldn't have to talk to some complete stranger about how well he was getting along, and how many friends he'd made, and how the doctors and nurses here were very nice, et cetera, et cetera.

He stood at the end of the food line, a plate covered with a breakfast sandwich, some salad, and other assorted foods that Artemis' nurse thought he'd enjoy. The boy hadn't paid much attention. He was staring straight ahead and thinking about the impending visitor's shift.

[Waiting for Miku?]

After a quiet time in the Chapel, Ritsuka checked the bulletin board and felt that while some things had been resolved, some things had only gotten worse. He was supposed to talk to Miku about this, but he still felt nervous - almost sick to his stomach about it. He'd told one of the anonymous posters that he'd stop wavering, but then all that other stuff had come up and...

Ritsuka sighed, dropping his head as the new nurse took him through the line and tried scolding him for picking rice, hamburgers, and french fries only. If there was one good thing, it was that he was having hamburgers twice in a row. Twice! The food around here was finally starting to look good to him.

Setting his tray down at an open table toward the back, he began eating, taking small bites as he watched the door. He still hadn't seen Soubi yet, but he was glad to see that Alfons was with friends - or who he assumed were friends. News of visitors was troubling, but he didn't want to get upset over nothing in case his name wasn't called. Who would come visit him anyway?

[Here she comes to save the day! The Moe! It buuuurns~!]

Miku had left the chapel, and the very kind girl behind with an apology. Perhaps they would talk together later, when Miku wasn't so fretful about this visit.

About Mafuyu-who-was-not. The little photographer picked up some food, a bit of fruit, a cup of milk, a bit of bread, and went looking for Alfons, only to find him talking with someone else. Ah well, she was just happy he was alive. Happy that, for once, none of them appeared to be any more wounded than the other. It gave her a little confidence.

Perhaps they weren't the strongest, or the fastest, or the bravest, but despite all their pitfalls, they'd survived. Together. Like some kind of ever-living anomaly, she thought with a little smile. Surviving when we aren't supposed to.

Humming that strange melody that came to her when she slept, Miku looked around again, and spotted Ritsuka. She hurried over and raised her eyebrows in question.

"You aren't waiting for anyone, are you, Ritsuka-kun?"

Light and Naomi had yet to arrive at the cafeteria for brunch by the time L’s nurse had left him there. However, he did spot Arlene sitting at a nearby table with an untouched tray of food. As much as he would have liked to talk to her, she was already engaged in conversation. He would have preferred to speak to the woman after learning a little more about her from Naomi, anyway.

He proceeded to pile some pancakes onto his plate and pour an excessive amount of syrup on them. Once L was satisfied that his meal was perfectly drowned in sticky, sugary, brain sustaining delight, he took a seat at a nearby table.

[Waiting for Obi-Wan]

It wasn't often that Qui-Gon brought his journal with him, but he decided it would be best if he could work and eat at the same time, especially considering that they were on a daily time limit here. As always, he found the kinds of foods the Earthians offered interesting, if a bit strange, and he had to trust the nurse to choose wisely for him. While he still wasn't sure what had happened last night, he found himself looking at the staff differently. The changes he'd witnessed, the way the hole in the Force had corrupted and mutated those it touched, hadn't seemed voluntary. He didn't believe that the staff here really knew what was going on - their ignorance on the matter wasn't feigned. So that answered that question.

There were more where that came from, of course. Questions like why were only the staff "infected" - if there was a word for it - and not the patients trapped in the Earthian buses? Was it only Martin Landel who could control these effects? How had the Jedi never encountered anything like this before?

He didn't need to be a Master to know that none of these answers would fall into his lap. He would simply have to be patient. Such things took time. He should better focus his efforts on eating and on his journal. By now he was almost used to the Earthian stylus. As he idly took a bite of what the nurse called an "ang-glish muphen", he began to brainstorm, jotting down ideas for how to construct a commlink.

Jedi came with all sorts of talents that came in handy on missions, but building a commlink from scratch, with parts from a world no one had ever heard of before, would most certainly be a challenge.

As usual, Obi-Wan hadn't managed to get much meditation done during the day. Really, he didn't know why he even bothered trying anymore. Night was clearly the most practical time for such things, and yet there were often things Obi-Wan wanted to do at night, things that he could only do once the doors were unlocked.

It was just a bit frustrating, to say the least.

But it was a new shift now, and Obi-Wan knew it wouldn't do him any good to sit and lament over time lost. It would be better to use the time allotted to him to do what he could. Once the nurse had placed some Earthian cuisine (a burger and some bread rolls, from what he understood), it didn't take the young Jedi long for him to locate his former Master. After everything that had happened last night, there wasn't any doubt in Obi-Wan's mind that there were things they needed to discuss.

Obi-Wan nodded in greeting once he arrived at the table and set his things down. "Well, I'm certainly glad to see you made it out in one piece," he said as he sat in his seat. "Hopefully you made better use of your time than I did, because I know I didn't get anything worthwhile done last night."

[ Feel free to bother! ]

Normally, Sora would have been eager to stack his plate with tons of food so that he could feast, but he wasn't all that hungry today. It probably had something to do with something wanting to eat him last nightshift, but he didn't let it stop him from grabbing a hot dog, covering it with ketchup and mustard, and finding a place to sit.

The boy wasn't sure what to think of the fact that it was time for visitors again. The last time he'd been forced to talk to a Riku who wasn't exactly Riku, and considering he hadn't seen his friend around as patient in a few days, there was always a chance that could happen again. He wasn't sure how it all worked, but he knew he had to be prepared for it.

There had been a longer break than usual since they had last gotten new patients, which was weird. It probably didn't mean anything, but maybe there would be fewer patients coming in now? He could only hope.

((ooc: hope this is okay?))

Bridget had been slightly sad to be taken from Mr. Armand, but he was pleased that he'd made another friend in this place.

With Roger tucked securly under one arm, he gathered up a tray of food that looked like he might enjoy. Hot dogs, fruit, and a glass of milk. Should be tasty... right? Spotting another boy that looked like he might be around his age, Bridget walked up to him and smiled his best smile.

"Hi there! Can I join you?"

That earlier encounter had been strange, but Peter was starting to get the feeling that he was going to run into at least one person a day that recognized some version of him. It really put a damper on the fact that he liked to keep his two identities separate, but hopefully having his costume again would help with that.

He still had no idea how it had appeared there in the first place, but he wasn't going to question it. It didn't seem to fit with the rest of the image that the hospital was trying to present, which is why he only planned to wear it at night. It would be kind of ridiculous if he went to Arts and Crafts in his Spidey suit, after all.

Peter took a good amount of time putting together a breakfast sandwich that consisted of cheese, sausage, bacon, and egg. It was ridiculously unhealthy, but it was the little things that made the day easier to bear, he figured. Besides, nightshift was going to keep him in shape.

Once he found an empty spot, Peter sat down with his sandwich and started to eat.

Statesman was more than ready to eat by the time his nurse escorted him into the cafeteria. He got a nice plate that was loaded full of eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, and several other foods.

This was much better than the usual hospital food, and it was good to eat regular meals. He frequently skipped meals with his job as a hero, which was just fine for him outside this place, but in here he didn't think he would be able to hold up too well if he didn't start a few healthy habits.

He spotted Parker and sat down next to him. He had not seen Lord Recluse in the cafeteria. In fact, it seemed surprisingly empty. Perhaps a lot of patients were sleeping in after the ordeal last night.

"Good morning, Parker."

Haku was not in the best of moods. He hid it well, but somewhere in the back of him mind was the fear worry that he might see his father again.

He hoped not.

Smiling, and telling the nurse who had walked with him that he simply wasn't very hungry, Haku picked up a glass of juice and a small plate of fruit before going to sit at a fairly unoccupied table, losing himself in his thoughts.

Sai woke late with a mild headache and his nurse standing over him with a frown. He was shuffled off to brunch, which he didn't even realize was more than just breakfast until he got there, with nothing more than a few words about how he shouldn't stay up so late.

Memories of the previous night baffled him. Why had he considered himself on a mission? And further more, why had guarding the kitchen become so important that he'd attacked a new friend and his companions just to keep them from going through it? What was there to guard anyway?

He hardly noticed what was put on his plate, his mind spinning. He couldn't look for any of the pirates now. They'd surely be angry with them. Perhaps he could address them on the bulletin board and apologize. It would have been one thing if he'd needed to attack them, but now he could find no reason for his actions. That sort of thing would require an apology...

[identity profile] usoppsenchou.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Usopp had felt groggy when he woke up, and the sensation hadn't passed; he'd napped in a corner of the Sun Room to try and shake off the sleepiness and bruises. He knew he should check on everyone, especially Luffy and Sai, but he was tired and... well...

A hungry stomach outweighed an urge to dodge problems, so he let himself be herded into the cafeteria without protest. Hey, rice. All those guys who keep posting about how much they want rice should be happy. Leaving that for the people who apparently craved it, he took some french fries and fish sticks to go with his apple juice, considering with a sigh that these, like yesterday's meal, probably wouldn't taste a whole lot like fish either.

Seeking familiar faces, the first he spotted was Sai looking... not downcast, because Sai didn't look downcast. Thinking something was wrong with Sai's expression was probably just his own projections, Usopp realized, but that didn't mean Sai wasn't probably twice as confused and disoriented from last night as Usopp was. So he grinned widely, not thinking for a moment that he was imitating Sai, and sat down beside the ninja.

"Hey! Are you okay? You didn't get too hurt last night, did you?"

Jean had spent the rest of the shift waiting for her comrades, but they had never appeared. They must have been lost in the chaos outside last night, she thought. Secretly, she was relieved that all she'd had to do was wait; who knew what else would have happened if they'd decided to explore the second floor with those nurses looking around?

Seeing a nurse over her when she'd awoken, Jean couldn't help but recoil slightly. She felt like she'd remember them changing shape until the day she died.

Absentmindedly, she loaded her plate with fruit and rice and sat down to eat.

[ waiting for Claude. fuck yes~~ ]

Ashton had felt an odd sensation of nostalgia mixed with big-brotherliness as he had left the chapel. Ritsuka had been a kid he'd worried about before. That, combined with his lack of presence on the bulletin board recently (or so he thought) had made Ashton all the more worried. Still, it was good to know that he was well. ...Or at least as well as most people in Landel's ended up.

He had cultivated a hunger to rival that of Dias'; and what better to fill him up than a delicious, juicy hamburger and a healthy glass of grape juice?

The food in Landel's was excellent, Ashton had already decided, but the wide availability of hamburgers made it all the better. He could almost get used to this, he thought. ...Almost. Every time he thought of something like that, the mostly-healed incision on the back of his head seemed to sting him a little bit. Of course it didn't really - but it made him feel terribly guilty every time he thought about it.

Now all there was was to wait for Claude, right? He'd show up .. hopefully. Claude was usually okay about things like that. He was late sometimes, but he never just didn't show.

..In the meantime, Ashton would dig into this delicious hamburger.

[identity profile] full-score.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That conversation with Dias had started out awfully bumpy, but it sounded like things were kind of smoothed over, if only because Claude had insisted they drop the whole thing for now. After all, he knew from experience that he and Dias both had a terrible stubborn streak, and now seemed like the worst time to be arguing about something that was in the past.

As it turned out, the blond was pretty hungry by the time brunch rolled around. He was used to eating earlier in the day, so he was relieved when his time in the chapel came to an end. Favoring the breakfast items, he grabbed himself some silver dollar pancakes, a piece of french toast, and some English muffins before he paused to look for Ashton.

It was strange, not being able to rely on Gyoro and Ururun when it came to picking him out of the crowd. Without them, Ashton had a more understated aura about him. Which wasn't a bad thing by any means. (Claude tended to gravitate towards people like that anyway, as opposed to the loud, flashy types.) But It was still a challenge when looking through a room filled with people.

Finally, he found him, and he set his tray down on the table while giving his friend a cheery smile. "Good morning, Ashton," he said brightly. "How are you?" Without another word, he took a seat and began to chow down.

[Waiting for Tear]

Prune juice. He'd never been fond of the stuff, but as long as it granted him some space away from his nurse it was all the more reason to gain an acquired taste. And so, along with a small plate of waffles, Jade moved away from the line and towards one of the corners of the Cafeteria with hardly a spill.

The day hadn't exactly been eventful for the most part, though he'd be lying if he said that he wasn't interested in these 'visitors' that were mowing through the crowd each time it was mentioned. He'd read the bulletin posts and wasn't exactly thrilled with the outcome, but anything was better than nothing he supposed. He'd just have to figure out all of this for himself; if he had the chance anyway.

The Colonel made sure to sit in one of the corners that housed the shortest people as to give Tear an easier time with finding him. After all, time wasted was time lost.

[identity profile] trelesekrayotre.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Her message worked! Or it at least caught the attention of most of her companions. For now it seemed like a reliable way to contact the others. A lot easier than trying to conveniently bump into them, at least. Now all she had to do was find Jade. She honestly had no idea what this meeting would be about, but she trusted him to know what he was doing.

The food didn't seem that horrible but Tear stuck with a salad nonetheless. It was probably the only really healthy thing available. She then proceeded to walk around with her tray a little bit. A corner, correct? She wandered a little but it didn't take her too long to find Jade. He was rather tall compared to some here.

She gave him a quick nod to show she had found him then headed over and took a seat. "You wanted to speak with me?" Straight to the point. She was rather curious as to what this was about, after all.

gald_digger: (Relevant to my interests.)

[personal profile] gald_digger 2007-12-26 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
That Colonel sure knew how to use people, Anise thought to herself. But he had given her an objective to work on, and that had taken her mind off of home for the time being, putting her back into relatively high spirits. So she just had to get the dirt on some of the institute's factions? Easy! There was information about them all over the bulletin board, so finding someone who knew the details had to be a simple task. From the looks of it, they seemed pretty open about accepting new members, too. Cute little Anise could slip right into one of their groups!

After another trip to the bulletin board to thoroughly read the posts she had been skimming previously, Anise made her way to the cafeteria. Having a mission was great and all, but right now she was starving! The coupons she'd been given for Doyleton went unused, and the meals they served on the buses were hardly "meals" at all. Filling a tray with salad and a hamburger - while not the classiest meal, beef was sounding really good at the time - she found an empty seat and took it.

Glancing around, she tried to find people matching the descriptions given on the board. A man with tattoos and a white-haired kid... Anyone that appeared to fit those descriptions were already occupied. But, oh well! She could worry about them and their groups after eating.

Food sounded quite good to Citan. He was surprised at how rapidly his wounds were healing, even without helping them along some. Oh, he had enough Arcane to do so, but he wasn't foolish enough to use it.

Heaping fruits and vegetables onto his tray, he noticed the young woman he'd accompanied about town the day before. Smiling in his absent and bemused manner, he ambled over.

"May I join you?"

Productivity in the Sun Room had taken his mind away from the possibility of seeing someone that he knew in the upcoming 'visitation' time. Cloud found himself a light meal and found a spot by himself, going over in his mind what he had done right and what he had done wrong.

Having a serious debate about the sore points of history was out. Bugging Kadaj and flattening the logic that was often childish seemed to be a fairly safe road to travel so long as he did not rub it in the remnant's face. It felt productive though. He had only completely drawn Kadaj to abuse once, and Kadaj had only offended him to the core once. That was better then other meetings.

Picking at the cereal and fruit, he more swished around the milk in his bowl until it was all soggy before he bothered to eat any of it. The movement of the spoon focused his mind on anything but the nagging questions that were starting to make him restless. What was he to expect in next shift?

Maybe... maybe no one would come to visit him? He could not decide if that would be a disappointment or not. If Aerith came, it would hurt. Maybe he would be alright if Zack arrived as they could at least banter a little.

[[Hope he's not expecting anyone]]

Gin's cryptic conversation with River hadn't helped any with his headache or the strange sickness that man in the Sun Room had left him with. Just the sight and scent of food was enough to make his stomach queasy with nausea. He told the nurse he didn't want any food, but she followed him anyway, with a bright smile and a tray full of fruit and some simple grains.

Most of the seats in the cafeteria were taken by now and though he wasn't feeling up to conversation, it seemed to be the only way to really pass the time. He noticed the boy he'd spoken with the other day, on the bus ride back to the institution. He seemed no worse for the wear, which, given where they were, was fairly impressive.

"Mornin'," he said as he seated himself at the table. "Not expectin' anyone, are ya?"

Ami wandered into the cafeteria with Usagi in tow. She was suddenly very hungry - she hadn't eaten much in Doyleton yesterday, and then there was the bus fight last night. "I'm so glad you're okay," Ami said to her as she moved along the line. "And I'm glad that Logan ran into you. You missed the day trip into a town called Doyleton."

She put two pancakes with some jam and cream on a plate, and grabbed an orange juice before making her way over to a free table. She had no doubt that if Usagi slept all day yesterday, she'd be piling as much on her plate - or possibly two plates - as she could fit.

"Doyleton?" Usagi asked as she piled at least one of everything on her plate. It had been a day since she'd eaten, so she stuffed her face as they walked to the table.

After pausing a moment to stuff two waffles in her mouth and swallow she asked, "What was it like? Were there monsters?"

[ooc; to anyone who wants to join.]

In light of the nights unusual events, Haseo found himself having a rather ordinary lunch. (Or brunch or whathaveyou.) The rouge had made his way to the room, only to gather what food was given and plop in the nearest seat in a haphazard fashion.

He'd picked out quite a bit of food from the selection, but he was scarecly in the mood for any of it. Instead of eat it Haseo picked at everything; it reminded him of that one conversation he'd had in The World with Atoli about favorite foods. 'I could sure go for a Beef Bowl about now..'

The teen braced his head against his hand. All this food was fine and all, but every single bit of it was American. Not exactly the breakfasts he had become accustomed to.

Near the start of the day, Hokuto didn't have to worry about how well she ate; she'd have something healthy for dinner, and six hours or more was plenty of time for her system to deal with the grease a lot of her favorite foods were loaded with. Being a teenager, she could handle almost anything as long as it tasted good, but she didn't want to risk feeling sick during a battle for two reasons. She grabbed pizza and chocolate milk, then looked for someone to sit with.

Yet another white-haired person caught her eye; how come Landels had so many? Once he had her attention, she saw how down he looked. He was hardly the only one, but knowing she was almost alone in wanting to be here, Hokuto felt something of an obligation to cheer people up.

Putting her tray across from him, she asked, "Do you mind if I sit here?"

Raine still half wanted to go back to bed, but she'd been awake too long for that to be much of an option. She had at least been allowed to grab something from the library (at this rate, she and Reinforce alone were going to be restricted on the number of books they were allowed out at once), so she could feel like she was accomplishing something. Technically the library had no nonfiction, but there was always a little truth in every story, literal or symbolic. She couldn't always be sure what was made up and what was true to this world, but the stories she picked up were written by people from here, and that was educational in itself.

...less than a paragraph in, though, Brave New World was beginning to look like a poor choice for casual reading.

[Hope this is okay!]

Well, he might as well make himself useful, he supposed. Yohji spotted the white haired woman from the previous night and remembered his promise to help her with the medicine. He wasn't entirely sure how much use he'd be, but he felt like he should do something, anything, to give himself a purpose.

He grabbed his mostly untouched plate and crossed over to where Raine was sitting, smiling softly. "Hey. Sorry I didn't get back last night. It ended before I got much done. Mind if I sit?"

[Waiting for Sam!]

With no news from any deity on how to proceed, 'nor a chance to study the Head Doctor at his speechmaking either, M had been forced to consider her time in the chapel a near-wash. 'Near' only by the grace of one Sparda, gallantly volunteering to protect her from the monsters in the night.

Such a good-intentioned young fellow. And, truth be told, a sword and a sturdy arm to wield it might not go entirely without a use.

She considered her tray of food -- heavy on the fruits and simple grains, and not a cup of tea in sight -- with a wry grimace. And then, perforce, began methodically to eat it, glowering all the way. "Bloody health nuts," muttered M.

[identity profile] neverreallyfit.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Sam's own choice of meal was rather less healthy - dead cow on a bun, with a salad added as much to alleviate the disapproving looks he'd been getting from the nurse as for any other reason. No coffee, though he'd held out little hope of finding a cup anyway. Why caffeinate someone who might just need to be sedated?

There was no deliberate direction to his path as he headed to find a seat. Just the casual sweep of eyes holding too much intelligence to quite be called guileless. When his gaze settled on the woman he'd met as Emma Thornbridge the day before, he checked his stride, moving to take a seat across the table from her. A familiar face, even one familiar from only one meeting, was a welcome sight. A familiar face belonging to someone who seemed both intelligent and sane - or, at any rate, saner than some - was even more so.

"Good morning," he said by way of greeting. "Have an interesting trip yesterday?"
