Day 29: Cafeteria, Brunch

Hitsugaya left the chapel no less frustrated than before. The head doctor once again had chosen not to hide his face, yet promised he would be making an appearance at some time in the near future. He didn't like being patient, but there wasn't much choice. Either the head doctor would show his face, or he wouldn't. Renji had already seen him, and knew how to find him. That was enough.

The thought of eating made him slightly nauseous as usual, but he knew he needed to get his strength up. He could either be weak and try to force his way through brunch without eating anything, or he could be smart and actually give himself something to eat. And there was rice. Rice and fruit. He took a heaping pile of rice, and grabbed as much watermelon as he could fit on his plate, then proceeded to an empty table. He scanned the room, watching for Momo. He wasn't exactly looking forward to their conversation, knowing how she'd acted yesterday; however, he knew he had to speak to her, and there was a good chance that she would show more restraint now that the drugs were out of her system.

Thoughtfully he consumed his rice and waited.

Trick or not it would have been nice to get out in the sun for a whole day instead of being cooped up in the depressing building. But then again being faced with monsters on the way back didn't seem very fun. "I'm glad you're okay!"

"Visitors...?" Usagi almost remembered something about that, but she always had a problem paying attention to a guy with such a mean voice. She forked another pancake in her mouth and looked thoughtful. Now that she thought about it he might have even mentioned it a few times... "Oh yeah, I remember that! What do you think it means?"

The pancakes were good, but not as good as the ones at the cafe the girls always hung out at. "I'm not sure," Ami replied in between bites. "I wonder if either of us will have a visitor? But surely anyone who knows we are here would be trying to get us out?"

Ami flicked her hair out of her eyes while she considered the implications of a visitor. "I hope it isn't another way for Landel to imprison more people in here."

"It could just be people like the nurses, brainwashed people we don't know... They said visitors not patients..."

But Usagi's stomach clenched and she poked at her food with sudden disinterest. Landel's was a tricky place, if the other senshi showed up and were captured they would be just as powerless. Or it could even be her parents or brother... she didn't want to think of what would happen to them if they were imprisoned during a Nightshift. Or Mamo-chan...

"It has to be brainwashed fakes!"

Ami bit her lip at the thought of people being brainwashed into thinking they were visiting relatives and friends in a mental institution. "I hope not..." her voice trailed off. It was a possibility. One that Ami hoped wouldn't happen, although the alternative just as bad.

"I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But if it is someone we know, we have to make sure they get out of here before they become trapped like us." I wish I could figure out a way to get out of here and return everyone home! Ami thought, despairingly. She'd been stuck in here with Usagi for too long - who knows what had happened to her friends, Mamoru and Chibiusa, in that time.

Usagi nodded at Ami's words, they couldn't let anyone else get captured. But their conversation was suddenly interrupted by the intercom. No nurse came to escort her to the place where the new people would be, so she let out qo temporary sigh of relief...

"I-I'm going to go to the Sun Room, I want to see if I can find Naruto-san..." It was half true, she really did want to make sure her ninja friend was okay, but she also kind of wanted to be alone. If this was a mission it was a failure, and that meant it was her fault. "Let's meet later, okay?"

Ami's blood turned cold when the visitor announcement came on, but luckily no one came for either her or Usagi. She breathed a sigh of relief.

Ami nodded when Usagi said she was going to the sunroom. "Okay, say hello to Naruto-san for me if you see him. If I see him, I'll direct him to you."

The opportunity to check out the music room was too good to miss, and it was just off the sunroom, so she was sure she'd be able to hear Usagi if there was trouble. "I'm going to check out the music room, but if anything goes wrong, come get me, okay?"

"I will!" Usagi replied, grabbing her friend's hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze before darting off towards the doorway. She never expected anything to happen during the day, but the visitor announcement made her extra nervous. What if she was wrong and "visitors" was secret code for "horrible monsters"? Even so she preferred that to her friends being captured... While lost in thought she nearly smacked into the wall instead of the open doorway, but quickly whirled around and gave Ami one last smile before exiting.
