Nightshift 33: M21-M30 Hallway
[from dinner post]
... the doctor sounded tired. Shawn wasn't sure if he preferred that voice or the more youthful one in the second announcement but either way, he figured, this guy's still fucking nuts.
Talk about Sci-Fi gone wrong. Gus would've loved this, even if Shawn knew the other wouldn't have been able to stop shaking in his slippers long enough to go into full dweeb mode. Shawn committed both announcements to memory-- just because authenticity sounded verified, it didn't mean he could trust anything that was being said especially when it involved so-called advanced technology, a "shield", and some kind of super hacker. Hackers, honestly. If the act didn't involve Angelina Jolie in any way Shawn just wasn't interested.
He held pushed at the prematurely opened door, looking out into the dark hallway warily. Pulling back in, he cast an almost-cautious grin at Peter. "After you...?"
Like he was going to go out there first. Yeah. Right.

Starting in M26
Part of his brain was worried about not being able to wake up again in time, so his sleep wasn’t as deep as he would have liked. But by the time the intercom made its first announcement, Wolfram was suddenly aware of things again, disoriented but awake. What he had caught of the first message that had woken him up was definitely strange sounding, at least stranger than what was normal. He sat up, leaning against the wall on his bed, drifting in and out of sleep until the second announcement occurred. Something strange was definitely going on, although he had no idea what it could be.
For now, he had to get to the entry way and soon. Aidou certainly wasn’t going to be able to say that he wasn’t up for the challenge of being able to keep up for the night – he would make sure of that. And perhaps the other boy would understand what the strange comment meant having been here longer.
But what to bring? Wolfram groggily pulled off his pillowcase as he’d seen John do the night before, and stuffed in his worthless radio, the extra set of batteries, and an extra shirt to be able to rip apart for bandaging if needed. The only problem would be carrying it; should he have to defend himself, whether or not he found a weapon, the makeshift bag could get in the way. He tucked it under his right arm, since he wanted to use his wrist as little as possible anyways, and if he needed to find a better solution later, he would. The flashlight was held in his hand, currently off as he reluctantly stepped back out into the darkness and down the dark corridor.

Brock got up in a smooth motion, heading to the door. The symbiote's third eyelids slid sideways to cover his own eyes, forming a white, filmy covering he could see through. The blond's own vision was about as crappy at night as a regular human's, but having an alien hitchhiking in your body tended to bolt on some improvements. Its night vision was pretty grainy, like watching an old school movie, but hey, he'd settle for this instead of nothing, even if it was creepy. Brock took comfort in having someone in here with him - the symbiote was clearly a person, no matter what Parker thought of them - and he stepped outside with two goals in mind.
Deal with Sylar. See what he had to show for himself - if nothing, then they'd kill him tonight. The chances of Elle running into them again were pretty small.
Then they'd check out this security breach. Maybe this was their ticket out!
Brock licked his lips, running his tongue over the points of forming fangs, and left his room, heading down the hall.

Outside M23
Screw the previous mission. The key could wait. If they could actually scale the walls tonight, have a chance at escaping and hiding even until the morning, they could find out a lot more than just discovering where the key he had went. Who knew how long this opportunity would last?
Still, first things first, he had to meet up with Rukia. So after dressing into his uniform and grabbing his blade, he stepped out of his room and leaned against the wall, waiting for the other shinigami.
Re: Outside M23
Rukia's flashlight was flickering badly by the time she reached the hallway in which Captain Hitsugaya's room was located. She noticed that shaking it seemed to help for a moment, but it dimmed again soon after. She couldn't make out the room numbers on the doors in the dim light, but she thought she could see a small figure with light-colored hair further down the hallway.
Hesitantly, she approached. "C-Captain?"

And there was nothing to make, alchemy-wise. Zuko hadn't posted, and he didn't have a copy of the keys. Well... that left him free to try something else, at least. Perhaps to see if he could get out of the Institute and try to explore or something. At least he was rather more armed than the average individual; he took flashlight and rapier in hand, and waited outside of the door as he considered his next course of action. ...and once again, he was shocked at himself, hesitating because he didn't have a partner. In times past, he would have sworn that he needed nothing of the sort...

He dressed quickly, pulling on his coat and pants but leaving the gloves in his pocket for now. He didn't want to bloody them with Envy's filth. He stepped outside and quickly spotted Adel along the corridor. He should warn him about Envy, and probably ask him to keep an eye on Tamaki, just in case Ed didn't... No that was stupid because Ed always won. It wouldn't be like last time. There was no familiar face that he could change to to make Ed pause.
He approached Adel, expression deadly serious. "Hey, Adel. I have a favour to ask."
no subject
Very worrisome, if Adelheid was right. The taller boy inclined his head, worried about what that request might be. "I do owe you one, so ask away."

Outside M23
This wasn't the first sign that something had just crawled up Landel's ass, but it was the biggest one he'd noticed so far. That intercom message (no doubt not his doing), the strange behavior, the doors opening right in the middle of his speech?
All signs pointed to Landel losing the control he'd so prided himself on. Even though he'd killed Jack, another head had risen from that particular corpse.
"Jill", huh?
Sanzo dropped the used cigarette on the floor and ground it out with a sandle.

What, he supposed they'd find out. Something about the walls? He frowned, pausing as he picked up his trousers. Had the rebel faction that used to be led by the radio man actually broken through the defenses?
He hoped the others showed up. Maybe they could make some progress tonight....
Re: M25
Shana moved quickly up the hall, the sound of Valyn's magic getting louder now that she was closer. Knowing he was expecting them, she didn't bother to knock, merely pushed the door open and...
Froze in surprise two steps in, as the elven lord was illuminated by the beam of her flashlight. And was currently standing facing away from her without his pants. Emerald eyes widened in surprise, then roamed over over the nice view of his backside and legs with appreciation, even as her cheeks flushed hotly.
After she'd looked her full, she reluctantly cleared her throat to alert him to her presence, although if she was honest, she was half-tempted to stand there and admire the sight until he noticed on his own. It was such a nice sight, after all, and it made her stomach flutter around in very unfamiliar ways.
Re: M25
"Always on....Shana?" He froze, trousers held at his hips, feeling a bit awkward. How long had she been standing there? Didn't she know to knock?
"I... assumed Shadow would be here first. Please pardon my state of undress."

Before they even got a chance to talk, though, the intercom was going off. It was a lot different from normal, too, seeing how the doors opened before they were supposed to and some strange recording played. Things obviously weren't going right for the Head Doctor, which made Peter wonder if outside forces really were trying to help them.
The loud noise that came from somewhere in the distance had him frowning, but he didn't get much of a chance to think over it, seeing how it was already time to go.
Nodding to Shawn, Peter grabbed for his shovel and flashlight and headed toward the door. He glanced at his roommate as he stepped outside. "Did you have plans for tonight?"
no subject
But back to Peter's question:
"Nothing solid." Shawn answered honestly, though he was already picking up his flashlight and, to a more cautious degree since the thing had made that loud static-y noise earlier, his radio. Curiously and without explanation: "Do you know where the front door is?"
no subject
Then again, he would have to know how to get there first, and Peter didn't think he would have much luck finding it if he just wandered around.
"Maybe you could ask someone else?" he suggested, looking around the hallway that had a few other people still in it. "I've got to go meet someone, so..." He could have asked if his roommate wanted to come along, but it would be pretty boring for someone to just watch him test out his powers, and there was also a chance that it would be dangerous. Besides, he needed to go see what Nathan was up to first.

Outside M22
This place. . . it controlled him, it used him, it even mocked him. The old resentment, reawakened from his slightly more impulsive youth, simmered behind his dim and fettered eyes. How degrading, to presume that his abilities could simply be directed as the Institution wished. How bewildering, that he could lose control again and again in this place. And on top of it, he still could not see, but none of that would affect him. It would rationally determine his motives for taking down the Institution, but it would not affect him. He would proceed with the mission.
Re: Outside M22
M27 to hallway
It made him angry enough that he had to jump through self-made hoops to get to where he wanted to be, and now... he had to figure something out before Eddie found him.
The strange intercom announcement came on, rife with the Head Doctor's fumbling. Sylar smiled slightly, thinking about how he'd make the Head Doctor his final target once he'd gained all the powers he could possibly take. As the announcement degenerated into strangely old recordings, Sylar glanced at the man on the opposite bed; he was still sleeping even now. Sylar considered killing him to appease his potential "ally," but... he had a feeling Eddie wouldn't be impressed by an obviously easy kill. He'd have to head out into the hallway and find someone different, so maybe...
Sylar's eyes wandered towards the flashlight under his pillow. He pulled it out and tested it--it had a good amount of heft, and he'd used things as mundane as paper weights before. If he got one clear shot when no one was around, he could probably take someone down just like he had with Brian Davis, though if he did manage that... the only point of having Eddie around would be for protection from the monsters before he regained his abilities. Maybe he wouldn't need him after that, which would be... gratifying, to say the least. Eddie was pretty difficult to deal with, but Sylar knew he could use him with enough work.
With a new idea in mind, Sylar grabbed his flashlight, a couple of pens, and headed out into the hallway. Luckily, his stalling had paid off; it looked like most people had left the patient block already. They were probably getting themselves distracted by the implications of the hacked announcement, which was fine by Sylar so long as they didn't get themselves killed before he had the chance to do the deed himself. If he could just find one person...

Uh-huh. Rude wasn't much for the spreading of information, but jeez, what the hell did he have to do, anyway? And while Reno wasn't entirely sure why, being ditched by his partner last minute was kind of irritating.
Oh, well. Whatever. He'd use the fact that Rude had sorta stood him up to guilt Rude into doing stuff later. For now, he needed to grab the stuff and then go find Mustang.

M26
It was pretty lucky that Kaoru's new room was just one hallway over from Tamaki's. Made things a lot easier for Hikaru to come get his twin, that was for sure. But...was Kaoru even there? Was he really sick, or had he just faked it to get out of doing the totally asinine daily activities? Kaoru wasn't above doing that. He and Hikaru had managed to "contract" various childhood ailments with frightening regularity until their parents had caught on to the fact that each new case of measles, mumps, rubella, scarlet fever, chicken pox, and the common cold all seemed to coincide with tests or homework assignments.
It had been fun while it lasted.
Hikaru knocked lightly at the door and prayed that his worry didn't show up on his face. He'd already had one moment of weakness in front of Ritsuka in the last few minutes. No need to make it two.
"Hey, Kaoru? It's me. You in there?"
Re: M26
He tried the communicator one more time before giving up and shoving it in his pocket. Having seen himself on his trips to the bathroom, Kaoru was aware how rough he looked, but there was little he could do about it. He considered doubling up his clothes to stop Hikaru worrying about his weight. But the hot and cold flushes were unbearable enough as it was. How the hell was he going to lie his way out of this one? With sheer determination and distraction. That's how.
Kaoru jumped out of his skin when he heard the tapping. But as soon as he heard his brothers voice, he lunged at the door and yanked it open. "You're supposed to meet me halfway!"
