... the doctor sounded tired. Shawn wasn't sure if he preferred that voice or the more youthful one in the second announcement but either way, he figured, this guy's still fucking nuts.

Talk about Sci-Fi gone wrong. Gus would've loved this, even if Shawn knew the other wouldn't have been able to stop shaking in his slippers long enough to go into full dweeb mode. Shawn committed both announcements to memory-- just because authenticity sounded verified, it didn't mean he could trust anything that was being said especially when it involved so-called advanced technology, a "shield", and some kind of super hacker. Hackers, honestly. If the act didn't involve Angelina Jolie in any way Shawn just wasn't interested.

He held pushed at the prematurely opened door, looking out into the dark hallway warily. Pulling back in, he cast an almost-cautious grin at Peter. "After you...?"

Like he was going to go out there first. Yeah. Right.

"I'm not a very good teacher, Shana." Valyn settled in comfortably beside her, pulling her too him. She was warm and soft and against his precautions, he responded to her. And he knew she could feel it.

"Not now," he said, gently, holding very still. "We have... too much else to do."

"They're not here yet," she murmured, letting him pull her close to her. Without his shirt, she had the freedom to be able to lean in, pressing her lips to his pale throat. She'd wanted to do that for a while, longer than she could even think to admit, even though she hadn't even known it until now. "Just until they come? Please?"

"Shana..." Valyn sighed, closing his eyes at the feel of her lips on his throat. "Once we begin... it's very difficult to stop. Until... we're finished. I've already...."

He trailed off, helpless. But surely she knew, understood that much. She could...feel him, after all.

Much to his embarrassment.

Of course she could feel him. Although it took her a moment to realize what it was.

Shana flushed, drawing back slightly, dropping her gaze in awkward embarrassment as she tried to think of something to say.

Glancing up, she met his gaze tentatively once more, searching his face. "There's not enough time?" she questioned, her cheeks flushed from far more than just embarrassment, her eyes dark.

"Not if we're going to do anything properly."

He supposed they could rush, but why on earth would Shana want it to be like that?

"This... I understand you're full of feelings, and you want to explore them. I..." he glanced down as she had, and flushed in turn himself. "Trust me, I know. But rushing into it and denying ourselves the chance to take our time and enjoy one another...."

She bit her lower lip, shifting restlessly against him. She wanted nothing more than continue, but she couldn't deny the logic in his words. "Will there... Can we... Will we get the chance to do it properly? Sometime?"

She resisted the urge to add Soon? onto the end of that.

Valyn nodded, and kissed the top of her head. "Sometime," he promised. She'd hound him to his death if they didn't. He was tempted, sorely tempted, to place a piece of clothing on the doorknob, lock the door, and spend the night inside with Shana.

Shadow would understand the signal, after all. But he knew they couldn't. He'd already taken one night off for carnal pleasure.

"I think you should realize now that I do have desire for you."

"You promise?" Shana murmured in inquiry, leaning in and pressing her lips to his shoulder once more, trailing kisses across pale skin. It hid her smile at his next words.

"Do you?" she asked lightly, a teasing note in her voice as she shifted closer, one hip pressed against the irrefutable evidence of his desire. She felt rather smugly pleased about that.

"Shana...."

Valyn gripped her, burying his head in her shoulder. Why was she tormenting him so? He was breathing heavily, clinging to her, his mind telling him to pull away but his body telling him to stay right where he was.

"Hmm?" she murmured softly, rather liking the knowledge that she could have this much effect on him? Who would have guessed? Her body remained still, although her lips continued to trail light kisses up his throat. She was enjoying learning how to do this seducing stuff. Shadow would be proud of her!

"Alright, that's enough." Valyn pulled his body away, an eyebrow raised. He didn't move off the bed or release her from his embrace, however. The only thing he put a stop to was the pressure of her hip between his legs.

"I believe I just said we didn't have time for...that."

"Kissing?" Shana asked innocently, glancing up to meet his gaze.

"Don't play coy," Valyn said. "You aren't quite as innocent as you seem. I hope you realize the amount of pain I'm going to be in once we get up from here."

Passion without release was torture, but he had no other choice at the moment. Other than to politely excuse himself and do a rush job on himself. But where? In the closet?

Shana did look apologetic at that. "I hurt you?" she asked, uncomprehending as she pulled back quickly, casting a worried glance down his slim, half-dressed form.

"Ah...." Valyn wet his lips. "It's...painful to begin something and not finish," he explained, as delicately as he could. "Certain things...don't simply go away on their own. And I'm not at liberty to find some other means of release."

Which was hardly Shana's fault, and he didn't blame her for it. It was simply what happened.

Understanding slowly flickered through dark green eyes. "Ohhh," she murmured, blushing as she glanced down curiously at his pants. "So if you... umm. Find release, it won't hurt anymore?"

"Yes, but I'm not going to be finding any release, so put whatever thoughts just entered your mind right back out of your mind." Valyn hoped she'd listen. "I'd rather deal with that than... having to rush one off."

He blanched at his own lewd language, but he wasn't certain how else to explain himself.

Shana rolled her eyes with a sigh. "Alright, alright. Be stubborn about it," she teased lightly, her gaze flicking up to meet his once more. "You're the one who's going to be uncomfortable. Are you sure?"

"I'm sure." Valyn reached for Shana's hand and kissed it, gently. "I'd rather be able to enjoy this. We've never been intimate before, and I don't want to simply do so because I'm in need of a physical release. I want to enjoy you, Shana, and I want to have the time to enjoy every part of it, every part of...you."

Hopefully he hadn't lost his touch for charming her.

She blushed, her gaze dropping to where his lips pressed against her hand. "I'm just worried that we're never going to get another chance in this place. It's not like we ever really have time alone."

"We can find the time," Valyn promised. "But... we should give our respective brothers warning not to come looking for us. I imagine if Keman walked in on that, he'd die of shame and Shadow...."

Shadow would stand there and watch.

Or worse.

"Would make things awkward," Valyn finished.

Shana couldn't help but break into giggles at that. "Oh, come now, give him some credit. Although knowing Shadow.... he'd probably want to join," she finished after a moment of speculation. Then she flushed a deeper shade of red.

Valyn closed his eyes and flushed as well.

"That's what I was implying when I said 'make things awkward'," he clarified. "Shadow is... still very much ruled by his desires." He knew it was only his cousin's age, and mostly he didn't mind, but sometimes it could be a touch tiring.

"There's nothing wrong with that," Shana replied with a crooked grin. "He knows what he wants and goes after it. I think its an admirable trait."

Even if it did land him in trouble now and then.

"Mmm." Valyn rolled over onto his back, one arm still under Shana. "But there are things he shouldn't want, and times he shouldn't move to acquire what he wants. And I'm sure you remember the Triana incident." Which had been a mess.

"I'm not blaming Shadow for anything, simply pointing out an instance you're aware of where chasing his desires wasn't a good idea. He'll grow out of it, though. I...was much the same at his age."
