... the doctor sounded tired. Shawn wasn't sure if he preferred that voice or the more youthful one in the second announcement but either way, he figured, this guy's still fucking nuts.

Talk about Sci-Fi gone wrong. Gus would've loved this, even if Shawn knew the other wouldn't have been able to stop shaking in his slippers long enough to go into full dweeb mode. Shawn committed both announcements to memory-- just because authenticity sounded verified, it didn't mean he could trust anything that was being said especially when it involved so-called advanced technology, a "shield", and some kind of super hacker. Hackers, honestly. If the act didn't involve Angelina Jolie in any way Shawn just wasn't interested.

He held pushed at the prematurely opened door, looking out into the dark hallway warily. Pulling back in, he cast an almost-cautious grin at Peter. "After you...?"

Like he was going to go out there first. Yeah. Right.

"Alright, that's enough." Valyn pulled his body away, an eyebrow raised. He didn't move off the bed or release her from his embrace, however. The only thing he put a stop to was the pressure of her hip between his legs.

"I believe I just said we didn't have time for...that."

"Kissing?" Shana asked innocently, glancing up to meet his gaze.

"Don't play coy," Valyn said. "You aren't quite as innocent as you seem. I hope you realize the amount of pain I'm going to be in once we get up from here."

Passion without release was torture, but he had no other choice at the moment. Other than to politely excuse himself and do a rush job on himself. But where? In the closet?

Shana did look apologetic at that. "I hurt you?" she asked, uncomprehending as she pulled back quickly, casting a worried glance down his slim, half-dressed form.

"Ah...." Valyn wet his lips. "It's...painful to begin something and not finish," he explained, as delicately as he could. "Certain things...don't simply go away on their own. And I'm not at liberty to find some other means of release."

Which was hardly Shana's fault, and he didn't blame her for it. It was simply what happened.

Understanding slowly flickered through dark green eyes. "Ohhh," she murmured, blushing as she glanced down curiously at his pants. "So if you... umm. Find release, it won't hurt anymore?"

"Yes, but I'm not going to be finding any release, so put whatever thoughts just entered your mind right back out of your mind." Valyn hoped she'd listen. "I'd rather deal with that than... having to rush one off."

He blanched at his own lewd language, but he wasn't certain how else to explain himself.

Shana rolled her eyes with a sigh. "Alright, alright. Be stubborn about it," she teased lightly, her gaze flicking up to meet his once more. "You're the one who's going to be uncomfortable. Are you sure?"

"I'm sure." Valyn reached for Shana's hand and kissed it, gently. "I'd rather be able to enjoy this. We've never been intimate before, and I don't want to simply do so because I'm in need of a physical release. I want to enjoy you, Shana, and I want to have the time to enjoy every part of it, every part of...you."

Hopefully he hadn't lost his touch for charming her.

She blushed, her gaze dropping to where his lips pressed against her hand. "I'm just worried that we're never going to get another chance in this place. It's not like we ever really have time alone."

"We can find the time," Valyn promised. "But... we should give our respective brothers warning not to come looking for us. I imagine if Keman walked in on that, he'd die of shame and Shadow...."

Shadow would stand there and watch.

Or worse.

"Would make things awkward," Valyn finished.

Shana couldn't help but break into giggles at that. "Oh, come now, give him some credit. Although knowing Shadow.... he'd probably want to join," she finished after a moment of speculation. Then she flushed a deeper shade of red.

Valyn closed his eyes and flushed as well.

"That's what I was implying when I said 'make things awkward'," he clarified. "Shadow is... still very much ruled by his desires." He knew it was only his cousin's age, and mostly he didn't mind, but sometimes it could be a touch tiring.

"There's nothing wrong with that," Shana replied with a crooked grin. "He knows what he wants and goes after it. I think its an admirable trait."

Even if it did land him in trouble now and then.

"Mmm." Valyn rolled over onto his back, one arm still under Shana. "But there are things he shouldn't want, and times he shouldn't move to acquire what he wants. And I'm sure you remember the Triana incident." Which had been a mess.

"I'm not blaming Shadow for anything, simply pointing out an instance you're aware of where chasing his desires wasn't a good idea. He'll grow out of it, though. I...was much the same at his age."

"Were you?" Shana sounded absolutely delighted at this revelation as she rolled over, half sprawled against his chest. She propped her chin in her palm and grinned down at him. "Oh, do tell."

"Oh, there's nothing much to say," Valyn said, shrugging. "I just meant... I met Triana when I was around his age. And I was an innocent young man, and Triana was... Triana. And I was silly and let my physical wants cloud my better judgment."

And he supposed he didn't regret it. Triana had known what she was doing, after all, and it had been a most enjoyable night.

Shana shoved away an irrational pulse of jealousy at this admission. "You and Trinana?" she echoed skeptically. "Really?"

"You didn't know?" Valyn blinked. "That's how she and I knew one another. We...were lovers, for a very brief period of time." He had to laugh a little.

"And I do mean very brief. One night. She seduced me at one of her parties; and I was very easy to seduce. I was a sixteen year old innocent and she was a beautiful, talented older woman who allowed me to think it was all my idea."

He shook his head at the memory, knowing full well now that she had played him like a fiddle.

Shana's expression turned into a faint grimace at this and she wrinkled her nose at him. "I think we should go back to talking about now instead, thanks," she informed him wryly.

"Shana...." Valyn shifted, propping himself to put his arms around her. "I've had lovers in my past. And there's nothing I can do about that. But that doesn't change how I feel about you. You don't have any reason to be jealous of... old memories."

She curled against his chest comfortably, liking being able to get so comfortably close to him. "It's not that I'm jealous about your past lovers - I know you've had more than I care to know about. But at the same time, I'd rather not have to think of you and Triana." She wrinkled her nose again, a distasteful shudder slipping down her spine.

"I know. But...Triana is a part of my past. I'm not proud of that, but she is. I didn't feel anything for her, though. And I know she felt nothing for me. I was a conquest, and she was... there."

And perhaps that sounded cold, but that had been all it was.

Shana glanced up at him, her chin propped on his shoulder as she reached up to brush his hair back from his face, studying his expression intently.

"And now?"

"And now if I see that woman again, I'm going to throttle her." Valyn was perfectly honest as he answered Shana, because he would throttle the woman. He had no patience or good will left for her, after what she had pulled on them all.

After what she had done to Shadow.
