Day 31: Intercom, Evening

The intercom's jingle came on with its usual overly-cheery quality, echoing through the halls and doctors' offices.

"I trust, as always, that you all enjoyed the last shift and that all the staff-patient interaction went smoothly. Of course, we're nearing the end of another day and so we must begin to bring things to a close. Nurses and orderlies, please escort all the patients to their respective rooms and make sure everyone gets their dinner--which is, by the way, chicken teriyaki and assorted tempura, along with rice and miso soup--before they retire for the night. A vegetarian substitute is of course available, and we have our usual assortment of drinks; we also have a special of hot green tea to go along with the meal.

"Thank you, everyone, for an exceedingly pleasant day, and our therapy sessions will continue tomorrow as scheduled. Enjoy your dinner, and I will be on again before bedtime to say goodnight."

The announcement ended.

[ As always, individual dinner threads go in response to this post, and it helps to put your character's room number in the subject line. Thanks! ]

Nia nearly forgot how good sleeping felt, curled up into the crisp sheets until she practically choked. The princess remained blissfully unaware of this, however, drifting between sweet dreams about riding in Lagann's cockpit with Simon. That was enough to entice a small giggle until a hand began to pull her from dream-like state.

"Wake up Rachel! Sleeping all day with no food isn't good for a growing girl like you."

Mismatched eyes blinked open blearily as Nia yawned into her pillow, carefully pushing herself off the bed and stared tiredly at her nurse.

"G-Good morning..." She cheerfully called out, trying her best to rub the sleep out of her eyes. What she didn't know was that her nurse's next words would wake her up like a punch to the face.

"Morning? Why, it's already nighttime Rachel! You've slept all day."

Nia froze, all color from her flushed cheeks draining from her face.

"W-what?!" It was night already?! What happened to Ion? What happened to Anise? Did they get attacked? The poor girl was looking feverishly between her nurse's face and her own hands, trying her best to remember what went on.

"It's okay. I guess I should've woken you up sooner, but that isn't the point. Now, be a good girl and eat your dinner. You wouldn't want your roommate to eat alone, would you?" The nurse commented, setting down a plate of food on the girl's lap.

Nia had to admit that she was really hungry... but that wasn't the point!

"In you go, Sean," Nurse Hedgerow urged, her tone concerned. Artemis staggered into the room, still in a stupor from the drugs--the drugs he didn't remember, of course. He fell halfway to his bed, still unable to walk by himself. Thank goodness his nurse had let him back into the Sun Room to check the board, otherwise he could have met with a rather embarrassing situation concerning Schwarz and the coming night.

The nurse helped him to his feet and into bed, then gave him something for his nausea. Part of Artemis knew that it wouldn't do any good, but it was always worth a try. He was extremely sick to his stomach at this point.

"Do you need a bucket, Sean?" She asked, clearly very concerned. Artemis just stared at her, wondering why it sounded like she was talking to him from down the hallway.

Haku was led to his room, nodding as his nurse chattered, only paying attention when she suddenly stopped. He looked curiously into his room, and frowned at the state Artemis seemed to be in. His nurse hesitated and it was only a desire to NOT be sedated himself that kept him from going in to help.

Chris didn't know the first thing about medicine after all. His nurse frowned and glance at Miss Hedgerow, wondering if she shouldn't take Haku elsewhere. A shame, he thought, since he'd probably be able to do more than these two for him... and there was food he recognized and actually wanted to eat as well..

What to do.

So far Parker hadn't given them much information to work on, except confirmation that Logan did have some kind of powers. Brock wasn't really keen on the idea of a truce, even if they did plan for it to be temporary. But the fact was he knew jack shit about Logan or whatever powers he had, which could make any brawling a bit hairy if he didn't have any idea what he was going up against. They'd already been injured by Kasady just going in gunning for him. They weren't going to make the same mistake twice with Logan.

It still killed Brock to have to put on a smile and act like he didn't want to string up the dwarf.

It also felt downright weird to be on any kind of civil terms with Parker.

The dinner was tempura, which wasn't too out there as far as they were concerned. Brock didn't mind tempura, and, as for the symbiote, it didn't care about the stuff - human food kept the Host alive, it didn't do anything for it. The food tasted a little bland to Brock. The blond grimaced a little. Probably an early warning sign that they'd have to feed in a few days; he'd noticed that he started getting more and more bored, then nauseated, with regular food when they became hungry.

As for what they needed to do; Brock was all for finding Kasady and killing him, finding out Logan's freak powers and kill him, do something about their Spider (he wasn't sure just what), get some real food, and then it was fair game at that point.

His roommate appeared to be missing.

Qui-Gon hadn't seen the eccentric young man for quite some time, which was telling. It was common for patients to disappear in Landels, with no explanation, and Rabastan seemed to be the latest in a line of those who had vanished. Frowning, Qui-Gon set down his journal, sitting down at his desk and glancing over at the empty bed. It was neat, the sheets starched, and he supposed that one of the staff had straightened out the room. Checking his hiding place, he was gratified to find that the knife he'd received from the man behind the radio was still where he left it.

It was disturbing to see his roommate missing. Another thing he would have to look into, right up there with assembling a commlink and learning more about Martin Landel. Where did the missing go? What happened to them?

Overall, it hadn't been a bad day, although not quite as productive as the previous one. Given his condition, it was more productive than Vlad could have expected, even if a wheelchair did for some reason seem to be a magnet for little girls to come up and talk. Though really, dear little Rhode shouldn't properly be considered a little girl, and perhaps Ururu should have a category of her own also...

His thoughts as he was wheeled back into his room were disrupted by the sight of his roommate. Vlad waited for the nurse to finish helping him into bed, a task which was remarkably uncomfortable, then propping him up with some pillows and positioning the tray within reach of his uninjured arm.

Finally, the chirpy woman left, wheelchair and all, and Vlad smiled over at his new roommate. "Hello, I don't believe we've met."

Sanji was feeling much better come dinnertime than he had when he'd woken up that morning. All the same, he still suffered the occasional small dizzy spell, and the idea of doing anything too strenuous that night worried him a bit. He couldn't just lay about in his room, though. Not when there were more important things to be doing.

Laying about here wouldn't allow him a smoke break, either, and he rather thought a cigarette might help his foggy head some.

He'd situated himself in bed when the nurse arrived with his food, and the man was nice enough to bring it right to him. It looked far better than lunch had, but Sanji had resigned himself to not thinking much about what this place had in their food.

While Light was grateful for the chance to get away from the scheming twins and the overly affectionate Misa, it went without saying that none of these warm feelings extended towards the Head Doctor. After all, if it hadn't been for him, Light would probably be celebrating L's untimely demise by now, but with his interference, he was stuck instead with the prospect of yet another awkward conversation like the one he'd just left in the near future.

The promise of a distinctly Japanese dinner soothed his ruffled feelings somewhat, but there was only so much that familiar food could do. At least it guaranteed that L would be deprived of his precious sugary confections a little while longer.

Hungry as he was, he was tempted to go straight to the waiting food when he arrived, but upon spotting his roommate, he lingered near the entrance to their room for a moment and said, "Good evening, Sanji-san. I take it you ran into some trouble last night?" He glanced back at the door. "If you need anything, I can try to get one of the nurse's attention for you. It's better to take care of yourself now than struggle to do so when the lights go out."

The meal that evening looked nice. Oriental food of some sort? Not quite like the Chinese take-out they got every so often back in the Clock Tower. (Though now that they were back in the castle again, who knew what Xanatos had stocked in that huge kitchen?) Brooklyn wondered if they had chopsticks. He'd always wanted to try chopsticks properly, but they were so hard to handle in his larger clawed hands.

He made himself comfortable on the edge of the bed, tray in his lap, as he waited for his roommate to show. He hadn't seen the blue-haired kid all day (though to be truthful, he hadn't been looking too hard) so he hoped everything was all right with him. He'd seemed decent enough.

Rukia was feeling positively cheerful after all the information she had acquired during the day, not to mention all the new people she'd met: King Jack, Peter and Nathan, Ryuga, Edgeworth, Daemon, Kurogane, and Kadaj. She'd also gotten to speak with Captain Harkness again, and spend some time with Renji! Lastly, what better way to end the day than having dinner (aside from whatever the teriyaki was, it all sounded delicious!) with Kairi?

Once the nurse left her in the room with her dinner, Rukia got up out of her wheelchair and started stretching. She found that walking on her right foot hurt, but not so much that it would prevent her from moving around during the night. The wound in her knee was healing well, it seemed, though also still painful. Which was part of why she was stretching; the more limber she was, the less likely she was to make the injuries worse.

Stretching was a slow, meditative process that Rukia had always enjoyed. As she sat on the floor, holding various positions, she considered the topic she needed to discuss with Kairi during dinner: who had attacked the red head two nights ago.

[identity profile] heartcrown.livejournal.com 2008-04-15 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
When Kairi wandered into the room followed by her nurse, Rukia was stretching. Tilting her head to the side, the teenager moved to sit silently next to the black haired girl, staying silent until the moment the door closed behind the nurse. “Hello, Rukia. How’re you feeling?”

Kairi stretched her feet out in front of her, pointing her toes towards the ceiling as she leaned over and proceeded to touch her feet with her fingers. Letting out a grunt at the physical motion, she soon turned back to her roommate and took in her appearance.

She was still all bandaged up, and with the wheelchair so close, Kairi couldn’t help but be concerned for Rukia’s well being. “Are you sure you’re all right walking on your own? Be sure you take it easy tonight, okay? Or else I’m going to be pretty angry with you.” Flashing Rukia a grin, Kairi winked.

Max, for all intents and purposes, was in a better mood heading back to her room than she'd been in days. Plans - actual concrete plans - were in place for after dark and she was all but vibrating with anticipation, her fingers fidgeting restlessly in the deep pockets of her robe as she followed her nurse back to room.

The chance to get out with other fighters and hopefully make some progress into the basement was the best opportunity that had come along yet, and she was already counting down the minutes until light's out, as she entered her room and climbed up on her bed to start working on her dinner.

A Japanese meal, she noted with amusement. That should make some people here happy.

Kagura was a little nervous to go back in to her room, but the scent of a familiar meal was hard to resist. She was indeed happy that it was a meal she actually recognized this time. They even had green tea! It felt like ages since she'd had it last.

After smiling and giving a brief 'hello' to Max, she carried her tray back to her own bed and started in on her meal. She paused after a few bites, "How... was your day?" she asked, not sure exactly how things like this were supposed to work.

So far, night was always the time when Diva could do what she wanted.

When the sun was up, it was like being back in the Zoo in Bordeaux, only her cage were the places the humans would let her go. (And the more this thought occurred to her, the more Diva suspected this must somehow be her sister's fault. Killing Diva was one thing, but weakening Diva enough to be forced to abide by human laws seemed like something Saya-neesama would like.) But when the sun went down... The only humans she ever met were the ones living within too; Diva didn't know what to make of them yet. How could they be in the same situation as Diva when they were human and the staff were human?

It was sunset now. Diva agreed to go back to the room, because it was like the game Amshel sometimes made his experiments play. Unlock the doors and see what they did with their freedom. Only this was different, because they kept bringing her back to a room with a human locked in it with her...

But she wanted out now!

Diva stood in the area between the two beds, her back to the door, hands clasped behind her. She'd wait for the food, but then no more waiting.

The only thing keeping Yukari from being in a completely sour mood was the familiar assortment of food; not that there was a big problem with the variety they served, but it was nice to have something she was used to eating.

That was the plus she tried to focus on while she was back in her room. And come dinner, with her roommate in there with her.

Needless to say, thanks to yesterday morning, Yukari was a little unnerved about that. Diva simply standing there in the center of the room didn't help at all-- she really wished she would stay on her side of the room, as far away from each other as possible. It would have been rude to suggest as much, too, but on the other hand it wasn't worth feigning politeness to someone who previously tried to tear her neck apart.

From her spot on the center of her own bed, crosslegged and holding a bowl of rice, Yukari opened her mouth to tell her to just sit and eat her own food... and in the end, said nothing at all. She realized a comment like that might get Diva mad-- and the ebony-haired girl already had that aura of unpleasantness around her-- and she didn't want to find out what else would happen if it did.

Yukari sighed at herself afterwards, opting to keep a close eye on Diva in the meantime. It would be better for her not to start any potential conflicts at all, and she wasn't going to let Diva get the upperhand on her again.

Angel ignored his meal as usual, but he did take the tea. Therapy sessions? Curious, but...possibly useful, if he could find a way to figure out who they felt he was supposed to be. So far, all he'd gotten was a fake name. But at least they'd gotten his heritage right.

He sat on the edge of the bed, peering idly at the floor while keeping one eye on the door. His roommate was probably going to drop by soon and he wanted to know more about him. That was really all he had left to do right now—find stuff out.

It never seemed as if he got anything useful done in the day. Saetan let the nurse herd him toward his bedroom. You'd think they would give a man of his obvious years--he had gray in his hair--some concessions to dignity, but they didn't. The head stuffed with cotton feeling he'd had the entire he was here tended to make Saetan more irritable. He needed all his long years of practice to keep his temper in check.

However, he was almost happy to see that he still had the same roommate as the other day. It worried him that his first one had disappeared so quickly. He also noted that Angel was ignoring his food. Saetan sat and sampled while he wondered if he intended to eat it at all. The chicken at least might be helpful during the long nightshift if he or his family ran into any trouble.

"Good evening," he said amiably. "How have you fared these last two days?"

Volunteering to go out at night with a group again. It wasn't entirely a good habit--sure, at least it sounded as though he might get a look at the basement that had had everyone so feverish for a few days, but it had to be possible to do that without agreeing to wander off into the dark with complete strangers.

Well, not entirely strange, but not frequent posters, which meant he had little information about them. At least he had weapons of a sort, although borrowed ones. He really should return those to Sasuke, preferably after getting something of his own to replace them. And maybe he'd find some arrangement of his own, like last night, for tomorrow. His little group might have been entirely dysfunctional, but they'd gotten to where they needed to be, and that was more than most groups seemed to report from night to night.

Mark stubbornly insisted to himself that he wasn't uncomfortable with not being the leader of the group. Being a leader was miserable, to be undertaken only when he had no other choice. Last night just happened to be a cooperative that he'd directed a little. Tonight, direction would be on someone else's head, all luck to them.

Well, he hadn’t been “chosen” for therapy, which was a disappointment--being able to converse with one of the psychologists face to face probably would have revealed a lot. Oh well. There was plenty more to consider even without that.

The doll smiled, and thanked the nurse who brought a selection of dinner, considering the cup of steaming tea. A traditional Japanese meal, eh? How accommodating, given the oddly high Eastern presence in the Institute. Ren put his copy of the schedule away with his journal and other things, then sat down and pushed a chunk of tofu around his miso soup.

He wondered what Ojou had in mind for tonight.

The day had been an uneventful one for Amelia, save for the encounter with Zelgadis and Mason early that morning. The princess was still a little worried about Mason; he looked like he was really hurt! It had to be very difficult for everyone living here, being unable to rely on magic for healing, and unable to trust their doctors, too!

Fortunately, the lack of excitement in the day also meant no running into Hellmaster, which the girl supposed was a blessing. Not that she would ever think of turning her back on evil! She merely needed to grow accustomed to this place and this situation before striking back against the forces of darkness. And as an Ally of Justice, there was no doubt in her heart that she would! Eventually.

Those thoughts aside, dinner looked delicious. While little could compare to the luxuriant meals prepared by the palace staff back home, Amelia always found trying the foods of foreign lands to be a fun and rewarding experience.

While at first, she was grateful for the lack of competition, mealtimes were starting to feel a little too quiet with the absence of a certain hot-tempered sorceress and dull-witted swordsman. Without them stirring up trouble, a journey to a distant land just felt incomplete, somehow.

As soon as the Head Doctor mentioned rice and miso soup, Rena literally squirmed with excitement. The meal would be the closest resemblance to home in the hospital, and considering a week had past since her arrival, the girl opted to make the most of the experience. Even the nurse picked up on her happy vibes, to the point of mild exasperation. Anyone would be if they had to hear "Are we really having miso soup? Are we? Are we?" every few seconds.

Finally, much to the nurse's relief, they arrived at F2 fairly quickly. Rena burst into the room as soon as the door opened, casting a wide smile at her roommate.

"Good evening, Amelia-san!" she greeted as she headed straight for her tray.

Albel once again ignored his nurse as she escorted him back to his room. A quick glance around the room as soon as he arrived revealed that his roommate wasn't here yet. Not that the stupid maggot mattered to him.

He sat down at the desk, eating his meal in silence.

Scar's companion for the last shift hadn't proved to be an interesting person to have conversation with. Perhaps the unfortunate fellow had indeed lost his tongue.

As he entered his room, he noticed the absence of his roommate. Perhaps the man would show up. but for now it seemed he could finally devour his meal without any audience around.

A meal that he wasn't even going to begin to think about. He had contemplated his food quite enough for today.

At least Reno had managed to catch a nap in the Sun Room. Bothered a couple of people earlier...yeah, things were kinda looking up.

The food didn't look too bad, either. But seriously, tea? This place just got wimpier and wimpier. What was wrong with some coffee? Considering they had to stay up all night as it was.

He popped a piece of chicken into his mouth, only mildly curious about where his roommate was. Hell, he couldn't even remember if they'd exchanged names last time. Whatever. Roommates, not his real concern. Rarely anything was these days except, how bored am I going to be today?

Faust was led placidly into his room and was sat down in front of his food. The nurse was obviously worried with how easily he was going along with requests.

As soon as she left, Faust stood up and streched, ignored his roommate and dug under his mattress for the last bit of morphine he had.

Dr. Burroughs remained true to her word: there was steaming hot cup of coffee sitting on the tray with his dinner when he was led back to his room.

Clark wasn't sure what to make about his therapy shift. It'd asked a lot of questions he knew he couldn't outright answer. But at the same time, it'd felt nice to talk to someone who actually knew who Lex was and had some inkling about all of this, even if it wasn't exactly the version he knew. Dr. Burroughs herself seemed to be genuine - Clark thought he had a decent enough grasp on people and he believed that she was a good person and meant well, even if he couldn't tell her the truth.

The tempura was really good, like all the food was in Landels. The coffee was straight-up black and he spluttered a bit at the bitter taste of it. It was like the kick to the stomach that the heat of it couldn't be to him. Weirdly enough, it still managed to work with the tempura...once you got used to drinking it.

Dinner done, Clark lay down on the bed. Maybe he could get a quick nap in before nightshift. Before he'd have to break into the nice doctor's office and trespass. Sighing, wishing he was back home, but feeling a bit better now that he had a plan, Clark quickly fell asleep, sprawled haphazardly on the sheets.

The dream started out safe enough. Hearing something. A voice beckoning him. The glowing storm cellar, shafts of gold light seeming to shake the heavy wood doors and rattling the hinges. Opening the doors.

Jor-El.

The last son of Krypton.

Stepping down into the cellar, Clark threw up his arms as something in the middle of the cellar suddenly flashed. His heart skipped as he realized he couldn't move. Now he was lying on a table, straps binding him down. Straps he could normally shrug off - only he couldn't. Trying to look around frantically, he saw the all too familiar green glow of a meteor rock, pulsing as if it had a life of its own. Pain coursed through him in time with the pulses and it
hurt like most things didn't, like his blood was actually boiling up from the inside.

Gasping, he tried to pull away from the kryptonite, reflexively jerking away as if he'd been shot at. A hand held him down. Blinking, Clark was half-blinded by the light of the lamp hanging over him, but he could still see the outline of a man in a suit, his head bare and gleaming against the light. Black spots burned in Clark's eyes as he kept trying to twist away, his super-strength sapped right out of him and leaving him trapped right there with the man and the kryptonite.

Clark felt his breath hitching in panic as he spotted the scalpel in the man's hand.

To the side, right behind the man's shadow, was a little girl.

She, too, was dressed in white like the suited man. The girl giggled at him, flashed him a very-out-of-place smile, and continued to jump rope as she hummed tauntingly at him.

The scalpel descended -

Clark bolted up, stung. Instinct jerked him back and he was back-peddling from the kryptonite as fast as he could. He landed with a thump on the floor, sprawled on his back, chest heaving as he finally realized he was awake. The pain wasn't even real. There wasn't any kryptonite here: it was just a nightmare...

[LOL DAMN YOU MAGGIE. >:D]

At least he was kept busy at night, Sai thought to himself after his conversation with Captain Zelnick. That was one more person interested in working with Usopp. Perhaps he shouldn't be so suspicious. The pirate had wanted others to help them, hadn't he? But then, their stockpile kept growing. It wouldn't be a good idea to hold on to too much. They needed to start using the items for the projects they were intended for. At least the ones that were intended for projects.

The food this evening reminded Sai a bit more of home, and he drank the tea slowly, savoring the flavor. He could appreciate a good meal, at least.

That had to have been, hands down, the most boring day Leon had spent in Landel's so far. The highlight had been seeing Precis, but even that had been short lived. He'd spent half of the day off to himself, reading or napping. At least the talk with Claude earlier had cheered him up a little. Only a little.

Tempura was good. He wasn't too fond of the tea, so his nurse left him with a glass of water instead. It needed more veggies. Stirring the meal slowly around his plate as he ate it, he tried to give some thought to what he could do this coming nightshift.

Keman looked a little pale when he walked into their shared room. What little information he'd managed to glean from Stegman about "Calvin Jacobs" was...unsettling. "Calvin" sounded a lot like him, only...human. And from this world (wherever "this world" was). How was that possible?

The food smelled good, even if it didn't look at all familiar. Keman wasn't exactly used to frying his food.

Taking a bite out of a piece of what turned out to be breaded carrot, he gave his roommate a weak smile. "Hullo. How...was your day?"

Checkers was stupid anyway.

After losing twice (technically, Edward let her win the second time, but she still considered it a loss. Jerk), Bella decided that she, in truth, did not enjoy checkers, and mentally made a note to never play said game with her fiancé ever again.

Grumbling quietly to herself, the teenager peered silently around the room. No sign of her roommate. She hadn’t seen the girl since their first meeting – was she okay? Frowning, Bella moved towards the food that the nurse placed on her desk. Might as well eat before Edward made a big deal out of her skipping meals. It wasn’t her fault the anxiety was stealing away her appetite.

Leon shuffled into his room, still groggy from his nap in the Sun Room. He felt so... lazy. Ineffectual. Though the sleep would probably do him some good, as he was sure he wouldn't be sleeping tonight.

He dug into his food with some enthusiasm; he'd always been a fan of Chinese food. Reminded him of late nights in college, studying for chem exams. Those had been easier, calmer times.

He hadn't seen Yohji yet. He wondered if his roommate had any suggestions for the best way of getting to the second floor kitchen tonight. Leon was determined not to let another evening pass without getting some decent weaponry.

He'd seen Schuldig talking to Aya and it hadn't looked good. It had been all he could do to not go over there. Damn it, what the hell would Aya think? Aya had seen him like that before, but he wouldn't like it.

He entered the room, giving a small smile to Leon before sitting himself down on his bed and pulling over the tray. Huh, Japanese food. That made a change and he actually felt like he wanted to eat some of it. It was pretty decent, even if it wasn't authentic.

Now this was more like it. Food that Kenshin actually recognized! Rice--real, white rice without any sort of orange!--miso that didn't look half bad (even if the tofu didn't look terrifically fresh), and tenpura that smelled so much better than Kaoru's various attempts at it. Kenshin had never eaten chicken with teriyaki before, but he found the result quite palatable.

He'd been allowed some roommate-less time to enjoy his dinner this evening, it seemed. The people in white were sure to have taken everyone to their rooms by now, and yet Kurogane was still alone. Not that he minded the solitude. That "Seishirou" would have been an unwelcome annoyance while he ate something he actually recognized. Tempura, Miso, hot tea... and a hell of a lot better tasting than whenever Tomoyo got into one of her cooking moods. Being alone with familiar food would have been perfect if the usual fight with the strange utensils hadn't occurred. Another reason why he was glad to be alone: "Seishirou" would have had something to say over Kurogane's inability to use the things, he was sure.

Where the hell were the chopsticks?!

After managing somehow to finish, he dug the metal rod from the closet and the map from under the bed and sat a moment to study the floor plan once more. There was unfortunately nothing more to the second floor on this map than had been on Rukia's, but that wasn't so important now that he knew what the magician was after.

He determined that he would be taking the same route in getting to M99 as he had last night and that he would be leaving as soon as he heard the door click open. That path was fastest, and he was not about to give the blonde any time to "escape". It didn't matter that he was in that chair on wheels, something told Kurogane that Fai would try to run regardless of his condition. There hadn't been enough said in the Sun Room to think otherwise. Or maybe there had...

With his plan of action already determined, he'd returned the colored pieces of paper to their hiding place and taken to practicing a little with the metal bat. It was still far lighter than any sword he'd used, but the difference was nothing too drastic. So long as he could still use it as a proper weapon, it didn't matter. The thing was getting awfully bloody though. No way to really clean it since the blood was good and stained in by this point.

His shoulder twinged a little with each swing he took in practice, but he paid it no mind. After two nights with the injury, he was much more accustomed to having it, and since he'd practically rested from fighting the previous night, he was convinced that had been enough to let it heal. He didn't have the time to let an injury slow him down.

The swinging of the bat stopped when the voice - that of the Head Doctor, as he now knew - filled the room. Now he was going to pay it mind, though he wasn't about to let the man's taunting get the better of him. This wasn't taunting though. Sounded like the guy was panicked. Served him right. He made a mental note of the location the man had listed in his hurried panic, then eyed the door. He was still going to M99 first and foremost. After listening to the door click unlocked, he shouldered the metal bat, then headed out.

Finally a meal Momo could appreciate. Despite her worry over Signum, the shinigami sat at her desk and started on the food. As she ate, she brought her journal out and started Giving detail to the large feathery wings she'd drawn in the background, making them look more like an apparition than that of a winged person behind the knight that was the focus of the drawing. Soon, she would add in the best she could come up with as Hayate's face, the wings belonging to her, as if the girl was looking down over the knight.

She nodded to Arlene, who seemed busy, and took a seat at her desk. She hadn't forgotten what L had told her the previous night - and what L had told Arlene - but at this point, she didn't care.

She had other things on her mind.
