Day 31: Intercom, Evening
The intercom's jingle came on with its usual overly-cheery quality, echoing through the halls and doctors' offices.
"I trust, as always, that you all enjoyed the last shift and that all the staff-patient interaction went smoothly. Of course, we're nearing the end of another day and so we must begin to bring things to a close. Nurses and orderlies, please escort all the patients to their respective rooms and make sure everyone gets their dinner--which is, by the way, chicken teriyaki and assorted tempura, along with rice and miso soup--before they retire for the night. A vegetarian substitute is of course available, and we have our usual assortment of drinks; we also have a special of hot green tea to go along with the meal.
"Thank you, everyone, for an exceedingly pleasant day, and our therapy sessions will continue tomorrow as scheduled. Enjoy your dinner, and I will be on again before bedtime to say goodnight."
The announcement ended.
[ As always, individual dinner threads go in response to this post, and it helps to put your character's room number in the subject line. Thanks! ]

Re: F33
Beatrix knew she was being somewhat cryptic, but one just doesn't blurt out to another how they were serial raped for four years while in a coma.
Re: F33
Re: F33
"The patients never know what's going on unless they happen to have moments of semi-consciousness from time to time or they happen to wake up in the middle of it all..."
Re: F33
"But you can't let it define you or dictate your life. I may not know you that well, but I know you enough to be sure you're the sort of woman who can overcome anything."
Re: F33
Her eyes were sharp as she watched for any signs of pity from her roommate. She saw none, so her eagle's gaze relaxed and the underlying anger that drove the Bride seeped back in.
"I'm not letting it and I can overcome anything." She crossed her arms. "I've just not had to deal with it. Besides, what decent guy would want to have sex with a woman that has no idea how many men she's been... she's been..."
Her eyes flared. "Serial rape - the conversation killer."
Re: F33
She leaned back, crossing her legs. "It's an awful thing, but it happens. I see it happen all the time. And I see it either break women or make them stronger. And you haven't let it break you, so let it make you stronger."
Re: F33
"It hasn't even been a year," she growled. "And I am working on it or else this conversation never would have come up in the first place."
Re: F33
She kept her eyes on the other woman. "I know you are. And it's good that you are. But I'm not going to sugar coat anything for you or talk down to you about this. Would you really want me to?"
Re: F33
She set the knob down on the top of the dresser a bit harder than she intended and then traversed the room to the door and back, trying to calm herself down. Maki was right and the Bride knew it.
"At least Buck and his trucker buddy aren't doing that shit anymore," she hissed.
Re: F33
Re: F33
She was too wound up to even meditate the anger out. Worst of all, it was mostly anger at herself. She should be stronger than this.
Re: F33
And she knew she felt better after physical exertion.
Re: F33
"Fuck," Beatrix growled. "That's soon. One of my wards is coming here after the doors unlock. Fuck. I have to calm down..."
She crossed over to the closets and touched the wood on its side with her fingertips. It took her longer than she'd have liked to find her center but, eyes closed, she did. She was about to put a hole through the wood when she stopped and stepped back.
"No... I don't need to do that," she said, her voice calmer. Pai Mei would have been disappointed in her had she used destruction as a way to regain control over her emotions.
The Bride sat down on her bed, lotus style, and rest her hands upon her legs. She had time. She could calm down before Rena arrived. It was wonderful what a healthy fear and respect for a man who was long dead could do for a girl.
Re: F33
It looked like the other woman had everything under control, though.
Re: F33
She closed her eyes. "Thank you, though... for the offer," she said in a quiet voice.
Re: F33
Re: F33
"Same to you, though," she added on.
