Day 32: Sun Room (2nd shift)

After the couple glasses of water Leon managed to gulp down during breakfast, the mage felt immensely better. He was still a bit tired, but that was nothing a little lounging on one of the sofas wouldn't cure. Stretching his arms above his head, he couldn't help but wish he'd had the chance to grab one of his new doctor's coats before leaving his room that morning. Maybe they would have let him get away with wearing it. Maybe.

He grabbed an empty sofa, pulling out the journal he tried to keep on him at all times. It was nearly complete now. Just a couple more pages to go. It might not improve his spellcasting that much, but any improvement was better than none. It was getting to where it might be too dangerous for him to use spells at all, if it left him so worn out without even finishing a monster off.

The bulletin hadn't helped to clear up any confusion when the nurse had shown him it, making part of the very short tour of this place that he was getting. An entirely unhelpful tour. So many people seemed to believe that they were from other places and times, more than should be normal even within an asylum. And none of them had even heard about the major power or... or Celestial Being, even if some of them had heard of Gundams for some reason.

She led him over to a seat and told him to make himself comfortable and meet some new people and he bit his lip to keep from saying something foolish or allowing Hallelujah to guide his words. He took a seat almost gingerly, looking around the room at the people wh were gathering. There were so many of them as he'd seen at breakfast. It was making him twitchy being around so many people he didn't know. There were reasons why he preferred to stay in space when he could.

For once waking up had been unusually surprising, by this point SubZero expected to be awake one moment and then waking up in bed the next, but he didn't even remember going out last night.

He didn't see anyone he recognized and wanted to talk to, so SubZero decided to take his chances with someone who didn't yet have anyone to speak with.

"Morning," SubZero said, slightly unhappier than usual this morning with the lack of what he had done last night. Maybe this person would at least prove useful.

[[Waiting for... Subaru~]]

Her breakfast conversation had been nice, Miku decided as she found a nice, empty couch and a kitten to play with. It was small, and feisty, pouncing on her hand and bunnykicking, before curling up on Miku's lap and kneading her thigh. Though the antics of the kitten was very cute, Miku felt a bit of familiar unease as she watched people mill around the sunroom.

It was like she was in her own personal bubble. No one seemed to see the slight photographer, no one stopped to talk as they lounged on couches and chairs, and certainly, Miku's seat was one of the brightest, catching a big, golden beam of light. But, the photographer thought down at the kneading kitten, it was probably for the better. If people didn't notice her, she was always in the better. Always.

Pulling herself away from such a maddening train of thought, Miku hummed the priestess' lullaby, closing her eyes and resting her cheek against her hand.

Subaru was still a little shaken by his experience at breakfast, and speaking with a nice, polite Japanese girl seemed like just the remedy. Unfortunately Subaru found it quite difficult at first to track Hinasaki-san down--the nurses wouldn't acknowledge him when he used that name, and he didn't know the "real" name the staff here had given her. Eventually, though, one of the nurses took pity on him and pointed him in the direction of "Miss Rhodes."

Approaching the quiet-seeming young woman, Subaru bowed from the waist and said politely, "Excuse me, Hinasaki-san. You probably don't remember, but I'm Sumeragi Subaru. We spoke on the message board once, about... ah, tattoos?" Subaru didn't really want to say 'curse marks' aloud just now, since the nurse who had helped him was still watching.

[Unknowingly waiting for Sync!]

Anise didn't want to get out of bed that morning. While most of her bumps and bruises had faded overnight, her head still throbbed and her chest still stung. When a nurse came to wake her for breakfast, the girl pulled her bedsheets over her head and ignored the woman until she gave up and left. It wasn't easy to fall back asleep, but Anise had been tired enough to manage it, even if only for a little under an hour.

When the nurse returned, the girl reluctantly agreed to get up, but found doing so to be a little more painful than it was worth. It took a great deal of effort on the nurse's part to convince her to swallow a few painkillers - after all, who would want to take any pills from this hospital? - but Anise eventually gave in, recognizing that spending the whole day in agony wouldn't exactly be productive.

Finally, Anise was led to the Sun Room, where she sat at the edge of one of the couches, leaned an elbow on the armrest, and waited for the medicine to kick in. She was offered some ice, but declined. Not only did Anise not want any friends in the area to notice she was still hurting, but she really just wanted the nurse to leave already. She got her wish, and was left alone for the time being.

Even though he gave them his word to cooperate, Sync wasted no time making a run for it once he stepped out of the room. He may have been quick, but with a man intercepting him at every corner it was hard to make a clean getaway. Eventually one of them managed to catch him, holding him high in the air so he couldn't get away. The God-General cursed, meeting eyes with the same nurse from earlier before snorting.

"Nice guards."

Sync didn't bother with another attempt, reluctantly following the woman as she led him down the hallway. He remained silent even after she tried to start up a conversation, glancing off to the side whenever she looked over her shoulder. It was only until they stopped did he finally pay attention, looking about the spacious room with feigned interest.

"Now Stephen," She began in that chiding tone of hers. "Please behave. We don't want you getting hurt again." The God-General clenched his bandaged fist, but he nodded before inching his way through the space between two of the orderlies. He hated wasting his time like this, but at least there were people to 'gather' information from.

However, as he got closer to one of the couches he couldn’t help but notice something strange about one of them. The replica paused before leaning his weight to one side, trying to get a better look at the face while still remaining out of their peripherals. He blinked once, looking again to make sure he wasn’t making a mistake before a smirk slowly crawled up his lips.

Anise. She couldn’t fool him. He didn’t know of any other girl that sat like such a boy. It was always fun to mess with her head, but how dare she compare him to someone so naïve as Ion.

Sync kept his movements smooth and natural, approaching the girl like a predator would to their prey. It was only until he was a yard away when he slipped onto the couch, slipping his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder.

"Anise…" He whispered with Ion’s voice.

Free as can be!

Harry flopped down in a couch, staring moodily around the room. He still wasn't sure what was going on in this place or why he was here. His conversation with Omi over breakfast had only served to confuse him and the nurse who brought him to this room had avoided answering any of his questions about how he had come to be here.

Harry contemplated approaching another patient, to see if he could get any better answers but, really, what sort of idiot would he have to be to trust the word of someone in a mental institute? True, he was in a mental institute too, but he was sure that whatever had resulted in him being here, he was completely better now.

Just so long as his father didn't start pestering him again - no. He was fine, he was going to get out of here, go back to New York, find Peter and MJ and then everything would be fine.

Harry snorted to himself, if he actually believed that things would work out like that then he was definitely delusional. Sighing, he sat back and tried to come up with some sort of a plan of action.

[hope you don't mind? :3]

As fucked up as it sounded, Reno had to admit to himself that talking (well, "talking") to Kadaj had somehow, for whatever insane reason, sort of...put him in a better mood.

God. Wasn't that a hell of a twist.

He flopped down on a couch nearby to another patient, someone he was pretty sure was new. Because he would've definitely remembered a guy with a face messed up like that.

"So when did they drop you in this shithole?" he asked, not bothering with an introduction.

In all honesty, MOMO wished she could've stayed in her room. She had been surprised when the nurse informed her that she had managed to sleep through breakfast, but she found that she was still tired. That in itself was a little worriesome. This place was bad enough when you were healthy; she could only imagine how it could be if you became sick.

Nevertheless, her nurse assured her that the sunlight and being with other patients would help her feel better in no time. And, though the realian had her doubts, she offered no arguments and instead followed the nurse quietly.

Once left on her own, however, MOMO found an empty chair and curled up, resting her head on her arms and her arms on the armrest. Hopefully a little more rest would do some good.

Well, it was looking like he wasn’t going to be able to catch a word with Abarai Renji, after all. Maybe he’d forgotten, or was just busy. Either way, Ren didn’t consider it a great loss, as there was plenty of time for talking during the long days, and there were other things to look into.

Having not seen Ojou again didn’t phase him, for that matter. She’d come around, or she wouldn’t.

Getting in some more talk with the other prisoners with just as good a way to keep investigating as anything, and the servant took a moment to look around before striking up a conversation. A small girl stood out among a few groups on one side of the room, her head down. Hopefully she wasn’t...?

"Excuse me, hope you don‘t mind," he murmured quietly as he slipped into a nearby seat, loud enough for her to know she was being spoken to, but soft enough so that he didn‘t spook her.. And if she was fast asleep (which wasn’t a bad thing in a place like this), then she might not be disturbed at all.

Something was wrong. Eileen wasn't sure exactly what had happened, but this wasn't where she was supposed to be. She remembered being taken to St. Jerome. It was one of the few clear memories she had of the last day or two. She remembered the ambulance, being hooked to an IV, being terrified of what was happening....

Even if what had happened after had been just some strange nightmare, she didn't understand why she was in a mental hospital. She wasn't crazy. And didn't normal hospitals have trauma counseling for patients who'd been...who'd been...

Who'd gone through something like she had? Disoriented and confused - and still unclear as to why her arm was fine and she could see out of both eyes - Eileen stumbled awkwardly to a chair in what the nurse called the Sun Room and sat down, wishing she understood anything that was now happening to her.

As ZEX limped to his next location, helped along with a nurse by his side, he sincerely hoped that he wouldn't repeat his embarrassing performance this morning. One unfortunate fall was enough for his tastes, but thankfully it seemed he wouldn't have to spend much time on his feet for the duration of this shift either.

He sat down in a nearby chair with something of a relieved sigh, unconsciously rubbing a bit at his wounded leg, and noticed that he was sitting near a human female. How fortunate, he hadn't had much chance to speak with female humans yet!

ZEX gave her what he hoped was a normal looking smile. "Hello, human!" Trying to keep his voice as smooth and pleasant as possible. "You seem... is it confused? I'm not entirely familiar with human expressions just yet..."

As usual, completely lacking any kind of self-awareness.

[Waiting for Junior and Kunzite]

Breakfast had been an interesting one, leaving Homura to consider the plans and possibilities for the upcoming night. It was an interesting game, picking which players were best suited for the tasks, and one that grew more difficult with the addition of people he knew nothing about. It was one thing when the demi-god could place people together based on personality and ability. The situation he was in now, however, didn't always allow for it. Time was simply too limited to meet everyone he had to meet during the day, and those he wanted to meet.

Such as Sanzo. There the priest was, looking as thrilled as ever. But Homura didn't have time to say hello to his favorite mortal, and so he kept out of the man's path and waited by the bulletin, reading the various notes left so far. He was supposed to meet three this shift, and could only hope good things came out of it. Between the routine necessities and everything Homura wanted to accomplish, he needed numbers.

Breakfast had been interesting, but it went a bit quickly for Junior. He'd have to find that Leon guy again sometime, and maybe catch him in a better mood. He seemed like he'd be interesting to talk to.

But now it was time to get to work, and he couldn't miss this meeting again; or at least, he didn't want to. It wasn't fair that he schedule time with the guy and then miss it. Junior knew how busy it could be running something.

The redhead made a beeline for the bulletin board once he got out of the cafeteria, spotting a tall man standing there reading posts. There were always a few people coming and going here and there, but the guy had said he'd be waiting there for them. "Hey," he said as he got closer. "You Homura?"

Eddie had been such a sweetie, Elle found herself disappointed when the nurses broke them up and ushered her into the Sun Room. Maybe she'd bump into him later, though.

The table by the cafeteria door; that's where she was supposed to meet this mysterious guy who seemed to know a little too much about her. Adam, or maybe Peter? Ooh, if they were here, she'd need to have a chat with them about running away. That sort of thing just wasn't nice.

Taking a seat against the wall, so the table would be between her and whoever she was meeting, Elle pondered this place she'd woken up in. From what she could tell, there were monsters at night and all the patients were from different worlds. She wasn't sure what that meant, exactly, but unless there was some sort of mass hysteria going on, too many people on the bulletin board believed it for her to safely ignore it as lunacy.

And her lack of powers. That had to be the pills, or even the Haitian himself. Something similar, at least, but the gaps in her memory seemed to indicate his involvement. How had she gotten here from the beach? She must have been unconscious for a while, or the Haitian must have removed quite a lot of memories, but bullet wounds didn't just magically go away.

Unless someone had dosed her with Claire's blood. Claire was here, apparently, so that was a possibility. But the thought of having that cheerleader's blood in her body made Elle feel yucky.

Hopefully whoever she was meeting would have some answers.

[waiting for Sylar 8O;;]

[personal profile] darwinism 2008-05-17 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
Rukia hadn't been wrong. The bulletin board had proved to be an incredibly useful source of information, and from just a few exchanges on it, Sylar felt like he was already getting the hang of this place, beginning to see how it... worked. Nightshift, dayshift, monsters, and multiple worlds all seemed to be the assumed reality here, and Sylar was willing to put aside his doubts in the face of so many testimonials. Why, he'd even learned about the possible presence of Claire Bennet and others from his supposed reality, not to mention an immense amount of people with muted powers.

Imagine! A place with so many abilities, so much potential! And yet, he couldn't partake in the harvest, couldn't reap the benefits. He couldn't even be one of those who were special, and it was all thanks to them, to the Company.

He could only hope that this "Elle" was who he suspected she was.

As soon as he was done with his last scribble on the bulletin board, he moved away and began heading towards the area the woman had specified--the table near the cafeteria entrance.

He saw her almost immediately, sitting on the couch furthest from him. Blonde, petite--it was her, the girl who had knocked him out. He had to admit, it was strange to know she was here, after everything he'd learned from the bulletin, but it didn't make him any less enraged at his captivity and the role she had played in it.

He walked towards her, all pretense of his harmless persona dropped as a wide sneer spread across his face.

"Elle, right?" He said when he was close enough for her to see just how huge a mistake she had made.

Mason wandered aimlessly into the Sun Room. He'd manage to fold a waffle up, stick it in one of the styrofoam cups, and stuff it down his pants for later.

The reaper wandered over to the bulletin board and stared at it for a really long time, wondering how he could use it to make money, or at least what passed as a profit around here. Maybe he could trade some of the stuff he'd found. Well... stolen. But if anybody asked, he'd found it.

Leaning against the wall next to the board, Mason pulled the waffle out of his pants and began to chew it, enjoying the wonderful flavor he'd missed so much since arriving here.

[*ahem* Gluttony]

Gluttony was disconsolate when he found that yet again he had missed the tasty nightshift with its tasty goodness, and on top of that had also missed the not nearly as tasty as nightshift but also quite yummy breakfast! All he was left with was the annoying shift where he couldn't eat ~ANYONE~ without the stupid nurses coming and telling him he couldn't eat anyone and sticking the un-fun drugs into his body and making him sleepy and wand to nap and have pleasant dreams of eating people and doing what Lust told him to do, because Lust was good and smart and wonderful and....

where was Lust, anyways? It had been DAYS since he had seen her. More time than he would ever want. He'd never want to spend a second away from her, unless that second was spent eating someone who screamed a lot and was really tasty and didn't like the idea of being eaten, but he'd eat them anyways.

He was really hungry.

So hungry, in fact, that his stomach seemed to growl constantly. He wanted to eat someone badly, but he couldn't unless Lust said he could, could he? No, that wouldn't be right. Lust wouldn't like that at all, and then she'd be mad, and he didn't like mad Lust anymore than he liked being hungry. And he was ~really~ hungry.

He saw a man who looked particularly tasty near the board, eating a not quite as tasty but still food and thus something he'd want to eat waffle that he had just pulled out of his pants. He wondered why the man had pulled them out of his pants, unless he wanted to enjoy the flavor of his body. Maybe he wanted to eat himself? That made Gluttony sad, because it meant there'd be less for him, and he needed all of the food he could get, because he was so incredibly hungry.

He walked up to the man eating the waffle with the flavor of the man that smelled so good. He was going to ask about his Lust before he'd seen the waffle, but a higher priority surfaced. "Can I have that?" he asked, with hopeful, hungry eyes.

What- no! What did- She was supposed to be a secre- Whoever took Lady was going to pay!

Luxord had returned to his room after the meeting with VI and Naminé as to write the information into his journal. The fact of the matter was, he would not have even noticed the doll or the alcohol gone had he not accidentally twirled the pencil out of his hand and reached under the bed to retrieve it, noticing the items taken. He automatically assumed Nursey to have confiscated them, but that note on the bulletin board proved something more aggravating: it was stolen by a petty thief.

The Gambler picked Tyche up and into his arms immediately after entering the Sun Room in an attempt to not lose control of his thoughts. He tried to think straight and logically, petting the kitten's fur with as much affection as he could muster. If he needed to lie to the thief to regain the objects without incident in daylight, so be it, but at night... Oh, whoever did this would learn what it was like when all the luck in the world can not help you!

In theory, Marcus had almost all the time in the world, but despite that, wasting it still bothered him. He had actually fallen asleep last night instead of going out.

There wasn't really much to do, at least in the Library he could read a book to pass the time. Sitting around relaxing was the last thing Marcus needed to do right now. He hated waiting, and he had never been good at it.

Marcus stared up at the sky-light, drumming his fingers impatiently on the arm of his chair.

If Albel had any say in it, he would have picked a spot as far from the other scum in this room as humanly possible. Unfortunately for him, a certain wench had other plans. The nurse simply moved his wheelchair to another patient sitting by himself in one of the chairs.

"Here is someone to talk to, Jonathan!" she said cheerily. "Now, be nice!"

His expression said he wanted to do anything but being nice.

[Waiting for Cloud.]

Well, that had been interesting. It was time to go to the Sun Room now, though, so after cheerfully deciding to ignore his entire conversation with Reno, Kadaj went to find himself a place to sit and, with any luck, sleep. He was reasonably sure that pain medication had kicked in by now, and while that did mean he was essentially free of discomfort right now, it also meant that he wasn't feeling quite as sharp as usual. That was fine, yes, but it made for a fairly dull morning.

And so he would sleep. He probably needed the rest anyway, after last night, so once he'd found a couch of his own to monopolize, he laid down on it and shut his eyes. Now he just had to hope no one would be stupid enough to try talking to him...

[identity profile] 1mperturbable.livejournal.com 2008-05-18 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
He wondered how he could have missed breakfast. Were the nurses not supposed to wake him in time to get out of bed? And how did he miss in the first place, especially being that he was normally an early riser without the need for a reminder. He had not even heard all the radio announcements, which was disturbing.

Still, he felt like he had cotton stuffed into his ears and throat, walking in a sort of daze. He could not even remember what he had done last night; there was this fog clouding his mind that kept him forgetting something important. He remembered meeting Brooklyn and deciding to do something, but then he just drew a blank. It was terrible, but he did not have the energy or heart to dig around in his own brain looking for answers.

He felt like he needed more sleep. There was only one place to go in order to find some refuge to sleep in.

Trudging slowly to the Sun room, he walked over to one of the couches and stared down at the familiar face already lying. His normal danger-sense when around Kadaj was not even blinking, and he simply made a soft noise. "...shove over a little," he mumbled, not even really waiting that long before he was considering the easiest way to get on the couch space.

flashyaudacity: (Kaito: hmm?)

[personal profile] flashyaudacity 2008-05-17 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Kaito hadn't been surprised to see that Kid's notice was already gone from the board. What had surprised him was how quickly Hattori had honed in on the thief's presence on the board. He wasn't sure whether to be pleased that the detective was still focused on his job here or disappointed by the reminder that the friendship between two of them was little more than a ruse in the end.

He left a reply, careful to write more than just Kid's in case he was seen, and then looked around the Sun Room. It seemed that most of the people who'd come in so far were already engaged in conversation or otherwise occupied, so he decided to settle down on one of the couches, closing his eyes.

[if you don't mind the pokings~?]

Incredibly weird breakfasts were starting to become a trend, weren't they? Somehow, in one way or another, those were always leaving Yukari's mind feeling odd as she was ushered into the sun room next. Yesterday, she was simply downright confused. Today... it was quite a melancholy topic to leave on. Tomorrow she'd try to have a normal breakfast, with a normal conversation. There would definitely be a tomorrow.

In the meantime, there was, once again, the sun room, the only place so far Yukari felt like she could actually relax in. Mainly because it wasn't some sort of crazy danger zone during the day and there were plenty of comfortable places to sit at. It would have been better if she wasn't familiar with the true nature of the institute, but unfortunately those wishes were already far beyond her reach.

A good amount of people had been in the large room already once an accompanying nurse pulled her in, leaving the young girl briefly indecisive on where to place herself. So many unfamiliar faces left her feeling that way, but the nurse alongside took it upon herself to pick a spot out for Yukari. Part of the couch in question already looked to be occupied by a boy who must have been around her age, and... sleeping? She couldn't tell, but the other half was empty and she wasn't exactly begging for company that was awake, either.

That decided, she sat herself down on the opposite end of the couch, leaning back far enough to get a good view of the ceiling.

[Waiting for Artemis.]

Light was fairly quick to write off breakfast as a loss on his part, but that was more due to the fact that he'd been unable to locate someone suitable to escort Misa at night (Kiddo currently wasn't an option, unfortunately, for a variety of reasons) and that he hadn't been able to eat anything when his attention had been taken up by that woman for the majority of the meal than because he felt he'd lost to L or anyone else in particular. That could easily change, however, so he'd need to be on the lookout.

For now, he went to find a seat that would allow him to keep an eye on L as well as the rest of the room. There had to be a pattern to these meetings the detective had been holding, and while it was entirely possible L would tell him what he was up to himself at some point, it wasn't enough of a chance to make Light drop his guard. He appeared perfectly at ease when he finally did sit down, though, and like many others in the room, he soon shut his eyes. Sleeping was out of the question, but that didn't mean he couldn't rest for a moment.

[identity profile] byname-bynature.livejournal.com 2008-05-18 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Artemis wasn't feeling particularly up to being social yet again, but his nurse insisted. After his little chat with Hitsugaya, he wasn't feeling much up to anything save crawling into a hole and dying.

He looked around the room, adjusting himself in his sling for what seemed the forty-seventh time. The thing was so restricting. He spotted Light across the room, apparently asleep. Normally he wouldn't bother anyone who appeared to need rest, but Artemis remembered that Light owed him enough metal for a weapon. And... well, he already had a weapon, so there wasn't a need for the metal anymore. It would be courteous to let Light know that he didn't have to continue risking his life for something Artemis didn't need anymore.

He quietly approached the teenager and sat down in a chair next to Light's. "I'm sorry to disturb you, but I believe I should inform you of some changes to our agreement."

[ Waiting for Jack Skellington. ]

Glad to see that Roxas had found Axel, Sora didn't hesitate in heading to an armchair near the bulletin board and plopping down into it, since he had arranged a meeting with Jack Skellington earlier.

He could only hope that the Pumpkin King didn't have any trouble finding him, though he didn't think it would be too much of a problem. He was curious to see how he looked now that Landel's had put him into a human body - it definitely was going to be weird, considering what he looked like normally!

Then there was the fact that this Jack didn't even know him, but they could probably figure out more about that once he showed up. Sora tried not to bounce in his seat. It was so exciting to see old friends again, especially when it was someone as neat as Jack!

[ooc; D: I THOUGHT MY POST WENT THROUGH, apparently it did not DX]

Spikey brown hair. That's what Jack had to go on to find this mysterious boy that so many people here linked to him. Sora was a friend, someone who had travelled to Halloween Town, Christmas Town, someplace called Destiny Islands, and had met Sandy Cl-- Santa Claus. There had to be some explanation as to why Jack didn't remember him when it was the skeleton's policy to remember everyone who just so happened to waltz through his home. There weren't many who could claim to have done so, after all.

Ducking through the doorway, Jack shielded his eyes from the sun with one hand as he surveyed the room before him. Spikey brown hair, shortish probably, male and-- there! The boy was practically bouncing with excitement and Jack strode over to him, waving heartily before extending an all too human hand. "Sora, I assume? Good to meet you for the first time and the second perhaps!"

ext_203323: Malcolm Jamieson as Armand St. Just in The Scarlet Pimpernel looking down while outside with a tree in background (blue eyes)

[identity profile] secret-orchard.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
He hadn't really had time to get anything to eat, but Armand didn't worry about that. His hands were much better thanks to Citan but he'd woken up with them still bandaged, though not as heavily. They were flexible enough that he quietly challenged his nurse's authority by going to take his hair ribbon from his jacket in the closet. He lifted his chin and watched her steadily as he tied his hair back with the ribbon. In the end, she shook her head and allowed him to keep it.

Mostly he felt frustrated with the situation and that carried with him as his nurse led him to the Sun Room. He'd gotten into the hallway, but then everything had gone blank. Armand rubbed his eyes, still feeling tired somehow. He checked the bulletin board to see if there was anything more from Thursday Next and paced nervously in one corner, watching for her. He wondered what she wanted to talk about.

[waiting for Thursday]

[identity profile] jurisfictional.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The Sun Room was already quite full by the time Thursday arrived, still blinking the sleep away from her eyes. Overslept again, by the looks of it. She didn't particularly mind - she and her group had gotten quite a lot done last night, even if they hadn't been able to get past that bloody strange room with the rocks in. And her leg no longer bothered her, thanks to Renji.

She spotted Armand pacing nearby and hurried to meet him, smiling slightly. "Morning. How was your night?"

Zelgadis wandered to the sun room, his head spinning with Xelloss' carefully parsed out information. What stood out most was his mention of someone, outside of Zelgadis' knowledge, being here-- more likely enemy than friend. And Amelia's reaction...

He found a remote corner and hoped Amelia might wander in so they could talk it over.

[Amelia-mun? Care to join me?]

[identity profile] pacifistcrush.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a relief when the shift change came. While the talk with Xelloss hadn't been on bad terms, Amelia still didn't like having to make deals and compromises with Mazoku.

This was the first time the princess really had a chance to look around the Sun Room, so she took the opportunity to check things out, her attention quickly falling on the large bulletin board. It looked like the other patients posted all kinds of things here! It was a shame she hadn't found it sooner.

She read over a few posts, but soon caught a glimpse of Zelgadis out of the corner of her eye. Seemingly oblivious to her friend's serious thoughts on their recent conversation, Amelia smiled cheerfully and waved.

Beatrix wasn't sure what to make of Light after breakfast. The young man was interesting, extremely intelligent for sure, but there was something else there. It was almost like he was smug about it, except... he hadn't actually done anything to warrant that assessment. It was just a gut feeling. Regardless, she decided she really didn't care enough to analyze it.

The Bride chose to sit to the side and observe the room's occupants. She was on the lookout for the revenge-set Uchiha boy, but that didn't mean she couldn't keep an eye on everyone else.

Falis glanced around at the nurses and once again up at the staff circling like cultures overhead as she entered the Sun Room. Why did these people insist on putting her in a place that seems to open and yet only further impresses upon everyone how not open it was?

The blonde looked around quickly and then let out a long sigh of relief, seeing as Hokuto's brother wasn't in the room. She was also rather happy to see Usagi talking to someone so she wouldn't have to answer any more of those probing questions about the girl she was interested in. It was just better this way and it wasn't like the bounty hunter ever wanted to talk about her feelings. Feelings were... complicated and uncomfortable and really, really hard to express without looking like an idiot.

Finding herself an empty couch away from the crowd that tended to form around that communication board, the princess lounged in the corner of the couch. Her injured ribs were against the back cushion of the couch and she painstakingly draped her mane of blonde hair over the armrest where it dangled to the floor. She rest her chin in her hand and went over what she knew about vampires. She was curious what Ami knew about vampires, but the girl hadn't made an appearance just yet. She wasn't sure if she was worried about the girl or not.

Intelligent minions were hard to come by.

Last night could have been horrible, but Hokuto thought it had gone pretty well; any exhaustion was taken care of when she overslept, her nurse made sure she got something to eat anyway, and when she got to the Sun Room she was greeted by a kitten rubbing against her ankle.

"This isn't so bad, really," she whispered, cradling the little bundle of fur. "I think I did choose this--I can be there for Subaru again, and I like the people here." It wasn't much of a place to call home... but for now, it was her home. And she wasn't leaving.

Looking around the room, she spotted Falis; it was good to see her, too. She went over and dropped down next to the princess, flashing a smile. "Good morning." She wasn't sure how much Falis liked affection under normal circumstances, as well as still having the kitten in her arms, so fortunately she didn't hug the girl.

For once, Peter was in a good mood. His attempt at talking to the random patient population had actually garnered some interesting information, and he had gotten all the important details recorded in his journal to show Logan later that night.

He wasn't sure how he had worked himself into that mindset that he needed to find ways to almost impress the older man, but he knew that it was just the practical, decent way to feel about it. When Logan kept bringing him more and more information about the institute and he just kept on shrugging his shoulders and having to admit that he didn't know any more than he knew yesterday, it started to wear down on him a little.

Still, he had made some progress. Maybe it wasn't much in the grand scheme of things, but it was a start. Figuring he should stay on his roll (or make sure it was a roll rather than a one-time event), Peter started toward the bulletin board in hopes of gathering more information there.

[Because it does a body good! >:D]

Brock was pretty sure he had a boner thanks to Elle and what had to be the closest thing to a lap dance he'd ever had in this dump.

If he did, the nurse wasn't saying anything. Brock was sorry to have to leave the cafeteria, but he supposed if he was lucky, he might run into Elle again and hopefully before she got her ass kicked by the night shift. Just because they'd personally prefer to do the horizontal tango with a certain Spider didn't mean he was off limits to any contenders.

And speaking of Spiders...

Brock sensed him the moment he stepped into the Sun Room, the symbiote perking up at the same time he did. It was natural he'd just know if he was in the room, though he still wasn't entirely sure how that little sense worked, and what Brock knew he needed to do right this very second was to march their ass over there and get personal with Parker. Right. Now. It wasn't very hard to sneak up on the kid. Despite his vaunted spider-sense, he really couldn't see them coming unless they made a big racket about it, and soon Brock was practically breathing down the Spider's shoulder, taking a moment to just drink in his turned back.

Done with that, Brock clapped both hands on Parker's shoulder, almost brushing his ear with his mouth as he said: "Enjoying your homework, are we?"

[Meeting RE4!Leon]

Qui-Gon woke up with the taste of death in his mouth.

It hung in the back of his throat like a thick veil, cloying and heavy. Grimacing, knowing that food and drink wouldn't be enough to simply wash it down, the Jedi Master took the trip to the Sun Room to center himself. Death was just as much a part of the Force as life, he reminded himself.

He was feeling a bit more alert when he finally made it to the Sun Room, his nurse leaving him to his own devices. Obi-Wan was already here, his own distinct presence in the Force standing out above all the others to Qui-Gon; their training bond gone, no longer between a Master and a Padawan, but Qui-Gon still felt a connection to his former student, one that he felt with no one else - Jedi or otherwise. Eventually he spotted Obi-Wan. He was talking to another patient, a boy on the cusp of adulthood and quite tall, even seated.

They would have to talk another time, it seemed.

Qui-Gon searched about for a place to sit and meditate. Eventually finding a spot he liked, the Jedi Master knelt down and relaxed, his hands resting on his knees.

Leon entered the Sun Room after breakfast, feeling a little unsettled by the conversation he'd had with Diva. Something was off about the girl, certainly, but he still wanted to look out for her.

He left a note on the bulletin board, and reminded himself to check it later in the day. He'd pass on information that seemed useful to Diva next time he saw her. She'd seemed so worried about her children...

Leon flung himself into a chair in a relatively remote corner of the room, trying not to brood too obviously. Four days. He'd been trapped in this place for four days, with next to no progress made on escaping. Hell, he didn't even have a proper weapon. He needed knives, damn it. Or a gun. Gods, what he wouldn't give for a twelve-gauge pump action shotgun right now. A rescue attempt wouldn't go amiss, either. The fact that four days had passed and no one had tried to break in to free him was also worrying. If his bosses in the government had placed him here, as he suspected, then there'd be no help from that quarter... but certainly Ada or Claire would have tried something.

But what if they had tried, and had been killed in the process? Guilt at their imagined fates washed over Leon. There was no way to know what went on in this place, they would have come in totally unprepared for the monsters locked inside... One or both of them could be dead now, dead while trying to save him.

Leon was so lost in his own dark thoughts that he didn't even notice the older man kneeling a few feet away from him. He just stared at the floor, arms folded across his chest, as his mind spun out increasingly doomed scenarios.

[waiting for Sano!]

Ever since breakfast, Kenshin had been thinking that maybe telling Okita about his eventual fate wasn't such a bad idea after all. He'd withheld the information--and instructed others to do the same--out of a somewhat misguided sense of protection, but...the rurouni respected him too much as a fellow swordsman to keep refusing to tell him.

He owed Okita that much.

To the untrained eye, it looked like Kenshin was dozing on a couch, knees to his chest, but he was as alert and tightly-wound as ever. What had Sano wanted to talk about? The rurouni thought he might have a good idea, though you never knew with Sanosuke...

[identity profile] damnrudecock.livejournal.com 2008-05-17 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
It was pretty rare that Sano didn't linger at the table after a meal. Even if it was Kaoru's cooking, the fighter took the chance to sneak off a few extra bites. But this time was different, and Sano quickly headed to the Sun Room when Pinky came to get him.

"Hey, Kenshin." Sanosuke sat beside his curled-up friend, knowing the guy was awake. Wasn't hard to tell, at least for the fighter, but in a lot of ways Sanosuke knew Kenshin best. Guess that happened when you spent a lot of time fighting for the same things. Besides, he had wanted to see how Kenshin was different from the start. And it was pretty damn obvious, wasn't it?

"You can probably guess what Okita asked me." Sanosuke leaned back against the couch, rolling his head so he could stare up at the ceiling. Wasn't a bad room, really. Just in a hellish place. People were like that too. "I didn't tell him. But I was thinking, Kenshin. We're in the future. They could be able to save him here."

It wasn't enough that Landel's institution put its patients through trial after trial in some kind of disturbing game, but even when he did succeed, the night had ended before he could even claim his prize! Just as that child had reached the finely crafted sword that they'd somehow missed in their search before running into the beast, everything faded to black. Well, at least he knew where to start looking. The boy with blue hair relied on his magic and seemed used to defensive fighting anyway, what was he going to use it for? And the other had already had a sword, so what use would a second one be? Gin, on the other hand, had dispatched the monster with a kitchen knife and minimal injuries. They'd been almost useless in fetching the item, why should they get to keep it? He'd just have to have a word or two with the boy later today.

His injuries had already been tended to. Even if it wasn't an ideal place to stay, the daytime staff was usually fairly competent. From his best guess it felt like he'd dislocated his shoulder and cracked a rib, maybe two. Nothing that would keep him from business as usual, but still an annoyance.

As he hid away the chemicals he'd pilfered and the other night-time items and his nurse took him along the familiar hallways, something seemed off. "You were just sleeping so soundly," the nurse explained. "Probably because you were playing a little too roughly the other day, wasn't it?"

He gave a polite reply, not bothering to deny any of the story she'd come up with to explain his injuries. It didn't matter anyway. What did bother him was that he'd missed one of the day's shifts and there were few enough already. As she escorted him to the Sun Room he went through a mental checklist of things to go over for the day. His initial target was already pre-occupied, but there were plenty of other people.

Shana slipped into the Sun Room quietly, a slight frown on her lips. Frustration over the night before was beginning to become a reoccurring theme, and while she spotted Reid across the room talking to some stranger, she didn't approach. She hoped their night had gone well, but she wasn't in the greatest mood at the moment and probably not up to interacting with them just yet. Things felt very... uncertain, when it came to her friends at the moment, and she wasn't entirely certain why. Maybe it was her own strange feelings she was dealing with.

Instead, she looked around for somewhere else to occupy her time. Spotting a pale-haired stranger, she moved in that direction with a hesitant smile. "Do you mind company or am I interrupting?" she asked in inquiry, shifting from one foot to another as she eyed him curiously.

Had she just drifted off? She was back in a bed, her bed, she noted; the journal on the chest of drawers could belong to no one else. Her injuries from last night were already bandaged, no longer in the makeshift scraps they'd been forced to use last night.

Unfortunately, Bridget was nowhere in sight. She cast a worried glance around the room only to notice that her roommate was nowhere to be found either. It was a little troubling, to say the least. Kagura really hoped he was doing alright. She couldn't remember someone ever helping her quite as he had. He might be a little small, but he'd protected her, acted like a hero just when she'd needed him. But... friends like that were only in stories; manga or television. People couldn't really be like that, could they?

It didn't help that she hadn't been able to find any of the Sohma family for at least three days now! When she'd heard Hatori was here, she'd thought this would all be a quick fix. However, nothing seemed to be working out as it should. Hatori hadn't even seen her, let alone spoken to anyone on her behalf. ANd why was Hatori working here anyway?! She couldn't figure it out and that just served to make it more frustrating.

Not to mention the trouble she and Bridget had at the fence. They'd both made it to the top only to be knocked down by some unseen... thing. Kagura was a trained martial artist and could think of only a couple explanations. Either there was something much, much stronger out there that they hadn't even seen, or there was some kind of... barrier that was keeping them out. They both seemed just as unbelievable, but what it all came down to was that... they couldn't escape. If she wanted out, this was going to be a fight. Her fears and anxiety melted away into a cool anger. If it was a fight they wanted, she would give it to them.

Well! After spending breakfast curled up with Ed, Tamaki was in a far better mood than even when he'd woken up. He waltzed into the Sun Room, and his attention was immediately drawn to a young woman, sitting by herself. Well, it had been far too long since he properly Hosted to anyone!

"Fair maiden!" he began, bowing deeply as he approached her. "May I have the honor of sharing your company today?"

They'd made it to the basement, but hadn't done much more than that. Allen sighed as he rolled out of bed. It just wasn't fair. It seemed like he was destined to fail every night. This was getting ridiculous. Give him an enemy to throw himself against and he'd do fine, that was his function after all. A weapon. But when they played these mind games or made them run through this maze... all it did was make him more and more frustrated.

At least no one had been injured, they hadn't even been attacked! That in and of itself was a rarity. Though, of course, any small amount of good luck he had was immediately followed by a terrible disaster.

Like this morning, for example. The nurse woke him up late, too late, in fact, for him to get any breakfast! He groaned as he followed her to the next activity, stomach growling loudly enough that she fetched him a juice box and half of a waffle left over from this morning. He took it gratefully, but had finished long before they reached their destination. He was still hungry.

Things went from bad to worse as he realized who Rinali was speaking with. He didn't trust his temper not to get upset at the boy again, so he made certain to put himself on the other side of the room(though he did have a fairly good view of their conversation). There'd been no sign of Ravi for a couple of days and he was getting a little worried. Rhode seemed to have occupied herself with annoying a stranger again. Though the man did look a little familiar. Allen tried to put it from his mind.

Well, breakfast could have gone worse. The 'small talk' experiment at least didn't blow up in his face. It was still incredibly boring, though, and Leon doubted he'd ever understand why people put such importance on being able to chat about nothing.

Needing a break from forcing himself to be inane and 'friendly', Leon went over to speak with one of his companions from the previous night. "Walker. I'd like to speak to you, if you're available." It was always possible that the other man was waiting for someone, after all.
