They'd made it to the basement, but hadn't done much more than that. Allen sighed as he rolled out of bed. It just wasn't fair. It seemed like he was destined to fail every night. This was getting ridiculous. Give him an enemy to throw himself against and he'd do fine, that was his function after all. A weapon. But when they played these mind games or made them run through this maze... all it did was make him more and more frustrated.
At least no one had been injured, they hadn't even been attacked! That in and of itself was a rarity. Though, of course, any small amount of good luck he had was immediately followed by a terrible disaster.
Like this morning, for example. The nurse woke him up late, too late, in fact, for him to get any breakfast! He groaned as he followed her to the next activity, stomach growling loudly enough that she fetched him a juice box and half of a waffle left over from this morning. He took it gratefully, but had finished long before they reached their destination. He was still hungry.
Things went from bad to worse as he realized who Rinali was speaking with. He didn't trust his temper not to get upset at the boy again, so he made certain to put himself on the other side of the room(though he did have a fairly good view of their conversation). There'd been no sign of Ravi for a couple of days and he was getting a little worried. Rhode seemed to have occupied herself with annoying a stranger again. Though the man did look a little familiar. Allen tried to put it from his mind.
