Day 26: Intercom, Evening

The intercom clicked on with its usual jingle, the Head Doctor clearing his throat before he made his last shift-changing announcement of the day.

"Well, now that everyone is clean and having fun, I suppose it's time for everyone to be escorted back to their rooms for dinner! Yes, yes, I know the game room can be entertaining and doctor sessions can be fulfilling, but we only have so much time in the day, don't we?

"Ah, and speaking of dinner, tonight, we'll be having an old favorite--seasoned steak, a baked potato, and peas! Yum, yum. You also get a choice of vegetable soup or caesar salad--just tell your nurse which you'd prefer--and may also choose from our usual variety of drinks."

He made his usual pause, perhaps contemplating what the night would have in store once the sun fully set. Now, however, wasn't the time to reveal such musings, and so he ended on his usual cheery note:

"That's about all for now! I hope you all enjoy your suppers."

And again the intercom turned off.

HK did his best to pick through the food that he was given, trying to figure out which one of the things on his plate was the 'potatoes' and which was the 'peas'. He had a fair idea, but with this place, he couldn't be sure. After all, the nurse had given him that white milk again. In a place where milk was white, he didn't have much certainty in any meatbag food products.

At least he wouldn't have to spend the whole night entirely alone with another sulking assassin. The maybe part-Ugnaught meatbag had been bizarre, but potentially tolerable. He was just rather unhappy about the prospect of dragging around noncombatants. They seemed to have somehow acquired two for the night. He sighed, letting his fork hit the probably-peas with a slight splat. At least he'd be able to kill things, soon...

Citan realized, as he was escorted back to his room, that he had not a single true ally in this place. He had never been one who gave or accepted trust easily, but it was still a touch disconcerting to know he was rather un-prepared for the nights.

Perhaps he could find those women he'd ran into last night. They had seemed pleasant enough company.

Ah well. Dinner first, and then he'd worry about that. He smiled politely to his roommate and sat down to eat.

Jack trudged bitterly behind his nurse as they trekked back towards his room for dinner. He was mad, especially at Haku and that big guy who'd taken it upon himself to break his face (well, technically just his nose). Then to have to GALL to kick him in the nuts and make HIM into the bad guy...Jack couldn't stand it, even if he had expected as much.

It made that bastard Recluse look like a NICE guy, even.

He was so caught up in his angry musings that, he didn't realize his nurse had taken him a new way until she stopped. "Enjoy your dinner, Mr. Trick!"

The Fable blinked and looked at the room number. "This isn't my room. I'm in M54."

"We've made some room swaps. You're in M32 now."

Jack seethed. Of course they'd switch rooms on him. His bat and silverware were still in M54, but at least he had decided to take his key and maps with him, so the bastards hadn't won completely. So what, he was going to have to waste this nightshift re-eqiping himself? Unfuckingbelievable. How much worse could this day get?

Glaring, he sat down at his new desk and began to eat the steak. It didn't matter that it actually tasted pretty good for a change- He was PISSED.

Wesker made his way back to his room, expecting another quiet dinner shift with a sleeping room-mate. However, something was clearly wrong as soon as he stepped into the room.

That was not his room-mate, and he had a bloody nose.

"Hello," Wesker might as well by partially polite to him, if this was going to be his new room-mate.

Recluse sighed once the nurse left, glad to finally be able to drop the 'nice, but stupid' act. He had work to do now, as usual. He started eating, writing yet another page of coded notes in his journal with his left hand. Hopefully, he wouldn't have to wait too long to get started. He had a sword and a knife to make tonight, and get the latest rust acid batch dried out. He had enough to make a few kilos of thermite, but there was still more to be made.

And he would have to keep a closer watch on some of his employees. It would be unacceptable to let things get out of hand again.

As the shift ended, the Superior found himself once again herded back to his room. Disregarding both the rambling from the intercom and his nurse's chatter, he proceeded to check upon his acquired items. After confirming they were still where he had left them, he sat down at the desk and began devouring his meal.

The last shift within the Sun Room had proved to be an interesting one. Although X hadn't quite succeeded in convincing Xemnas, he had no means to properly attend to the matter. Not yet, at least.

However, that other patient; Armand had been quite interested in the subject of nonexistence, something the Superior found remarkable. Perhaps this could be of use one way or another...

Even despite the change of scenery the game room had been a complete waste of time, which could have been expected. And of course, a certain worm apparently had nothing better to do but bothering him with stupid, trivial questions. Since when was he so interested, anyway?

Taking a seat as soon as Albel entered his room, he began eating his meal. That maggot of a roommate wasn't hear yet, which suited the warrior just fine. The more time he spend without any nagging worms, the better.

[identity profile] burningdigisoul.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that was pretty useless. It was looking like if he needed something, the staff wasn't going to very helpful, so he'd have to figure things out on his own. That suited Masaru just fine, but it didn't make it any less of a pain in the ass. He could have a quick wit if he really wanted to, but despite that, he was easily not the most resourceful of the human race.

The prospect of the night to come had him in decent enough spirits. It had been a while since he'd had a good man-to-man fight, and since his opponent was apparently pretty strong, he was fired up an just itching in anticipation.

So much so, that he absolutely could not sit still. His dinner was inhaled on the spot, and rather than lounging around on the bed as normal, he found himself pacing in a sort of bored anxiousness. Every now and then, he'd attempt sitting down, but was finding he could only stomach a few seconds of it before he was once again walking lines.

There was a busy night in store for a girl, a busy night that Miranda was all too glad to inform her nurse about quite cheerfully as she was escorted back to her room. Miranda often spoke of 'missions' as it were, so the woman wasn't put off more so than usual. Left alone, for the time being, when the door closed behind her, the girl sat down, staring curiously at her food for a second before taking a seat on her bed and beginning to consume it slowly.

River Tam made a face at the sight (and smell) of peas. Nutritious. Most disgusting forms of sustenance tended to be. Mildly aggravating, but she would need to keep her strength up for the evening to come. Evening come, and evening fall. The stars might even come out tonight, whether or not she could truly see them. And of course there were the missions... She was trusted with missions, being that she was missing so many parts and all. Most didn't consider her functional. Some could see the true worth in a machine of River's make. Now if only they could make sense of her reports.

It was as her mind swept itself to another path without warning that River realized she had yet to meet her roommate. Curious thing, that. Curious and curiouser.

At least the potato was good.

What a day.

Sakura really didn't leave the showers in a much better mood then she'd been in after lunch. Sasuke-kun wouldn't find himself useless. Wonderful. It still didn't put her fears to rest that, before he'd discovered this, he'd been so ready to just give up. She was torn between wanting to check up on him and not wanting to be any more of a bother. Sometimes it was hard not to feel like one around Sasuke and Naruto. It seemed that neither of them really believed her to be on the same level as they were, or at least that she deserved special treatment. It was Naruto Sasuke had asked to test his sight, and it always would be. Sakura would always just be that girl, the girl that couldn't be trusted for serious matters or to lean on when they couldn't walk.

And then there had been that weird, little girl in the showers... What was with this place? Now she was sulking.

With a sigh, Sakura decided to at least make a good show of not letting it get to her as she settled down to their meal for the night. The green peas looked questionable, but everything else seemed appetizing enough. Munching idly on her dinner, she sat back and contemplated just what to do with herself this evening...

All things considered, this day could have been worse. While Duo thought she was crazy, according to Quatre, he would meet with her and Quatre tonight. she hoped the blond pilot would calm down in the over-protectiveness. Perhaps he and Duo could teach her some self-defence while they were out tonight.

Relena hid her surprise that Sakura had beaten her to their room. "It's good to see you're safe," she said softly, sitting down at her own desk to eat. She stubbornly left the peas where they lay and focused on the meat, potatoes, and the salad she had selected.

Idly she considered drawing a map of the areas she had explored with the others. She did have the time right now, after all.

Ashe was at least grateful to have been gifted with some time to collect herself before her escort came to retrieve her for supper. That she would only be forced to share it in the presence of one, other person could also be counted as a blessing. The princess was hardly in the mood to deal with the hustle and bustle of those crowded, eating quarters; having to deal with one, other woman would not be unbearable.

The meals they were given at least seemed wholesome enough, and after scarcely getting down most of her lunch, Ashe found that she was indeed rather hungry. As there was not a proper table present, the young woman took a seat at the desk, stiff, regal posture never failing even when she happened to be dining alone, and began to eat the steak and vegetables that had been provided.

They ate dinner in their rooms? Oh great. Nadine - or Lilith, when she was careful with her thoughts - slunk into the room looking a touch put off. Though with her wildly roving eyes, it was difficult to tell what sort of mood the woman was in at any given time. Her white and gray streaked hair was already tangled and frizzed, and she stared at her dinner - not the other woman in the room - with a blank expression.

"I used to hate meat," she said, with no lead-in or other explanation.

Phibrizzo poked a spoon into the soup he had requested and watched it swirl. Humans ate so many meals within a short span of time. Wouldn't it have been more prudent to spread them out a bit more?

Whatever the case, the soup was only just tolerable, the potato was bland, the peas were disgusting, and steak...well, it was delightfully a dead animal, but the seasoning really wasn't doing it for him. If Excel hadn't eaten his lunch, Phibrizzo would hardly feel driven to try ANY of the items on his plate.

At least the juice was sweet. He took a sip and waited for the meal to end.

Quatre entered the room with a sigh. Then he noticed that someone else was in the room and instantly a smile hit his face. It wasn't entirely fake, but he wasn't sure he could trust this person right out, so he was cautious with how friendly he was being.

"Hello," he said, moving to his side of the room to examine his dinner. He hadn't eaten during lunch, but he wasn't really in the mood to eat right now either. "You must be my roommate. My name is Quatre Raberba Winner."

Dinner probably should have been the last thing on his mind; there were just too many thoughts bouncing around in his head, and they were all in conflict. But Renji had already missed two meals, and old habits took over. It tended to be like that; the more stress he was under, the more he fell back into behavior that had helped him survive, long before he was ever a shinigami. And part of that behavior said eat, before it gets taken away.

He sat at his desk and ate.

Hisoka wasn't sure what he was supposed to feel as his nurse escorted him back to his room. He was angry (oh hell, he was pissed) but at the same moment he was sick and scared and with everything else combined, he was left shaking from it all.

His nurse was sympathetic, therapy was always an ordeal, and Hisoka pretended to care that she pretended to understand.

Thankfully, as soon as Hisoka stepped into the room, the woman decided to leave him alone. For once, the boy was actually looking forward to having a roommate who wanted nothing to do with him. It meant that Renji wouldn't ask or prod him into conversation because right now, Hisoka wasn't sure if he could talk. Comprehensibly anyway.

Javert had returned to his room earlier that afternoon, preferring to sit and read in solitude rather than be forced to listen to the sound of other conversations going on around him. He only looked up briefly when the nurse entered with both his meal and his roommate's.

The food was good, as it always was, but Javert was distracted by both the book and thoughts of the approaching Nightshift. Aside from meeting, he had no idea what he, Trevelyan, and St. Just were planning to do.

Perhaps looking for the basement would be a good idea...

The orderly had mentioned a roommate before leaving; the room was still empty. Riddick took a seat at his desk and piled into the food, eating fast as he'd learned to do from a life of prison sentences and running from the law. One thing I'll give them, the food here is excellent.

Well, that certainly went as he expected, which ultimately wasn't as good of a thing as one would expect.

Jade held back a heavy sigh as he entered the room, putting on his usual smile as he looked about the cramped space. It would seem that he had a roommate after all, except this man hardly fit in with the picture he had in his head. Not that the Colonel minded, surprises were always a part of life and this Institute was certainly full of them.

He took his seat only after the nurse gave him his plate and left the two men alone, resting alongside the edge of his bed. Jade set said object on his lap, instead focusing on the latter whom occupied the desk.

"What a coincidence that we'd be assigned the same room." He started up with a smile.

Oh no.

Peas again.. and just when Ashton thought he was rid of them. Corn for a day had spoiled him, hadn't it? Of all the things to go pop in his mouth, he'd definitely much rather it be corn. Steak, though - he bet Claude was happy with that. Ashton had been able to experience a lovely hamburger on his first day in the Institute as well, so it seemed fitting that Claude should, too. It baffled him, though, why they had stopped serving dessert. If they were going to open the doors on them at night, it really only served logic that they should give them something sweet so they could have that extra burst of energy, right..?

Yeah, right. Nothing was logical. Nothing.

Ashton sighed. How was tonight going to work out? He wondered what Axel was going to do. He'd seen his roommate's message on the bulletin board, and a part of him really wanted it to be Axel that was going to come along with them tonight. He didn't have a problem with Lust - on the contrary, he liked her, actually - but.. some weapon-child who ate things? He wasn't really sure what to expect, except that Dias would be there, and at least that was going to work out fine.

Well, he supposed, all there was to do was wait for the redhead to stop in. Ashton pushed a couple of stray peas off his steak in favor of the meat, and began to eat.

Re: M12

[identity profile] bond-off-lame.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey beautiful." Axel grinned as he stepped inside the room, his nurse giving him a strange look before shaking her head. It seemed like he was in a better mood than usual, though the redhead was hardly ever in a bad mood. He quickly settled onto his bed, sitting up cross-legged while his food was prepared (after asking for the caesar salad) and waved the woman off when she left.

"So I see you got a lot going on tonight," Were the first words that came out of Axel's mouth when they were finally alone. He expertly stabbed a pea into each tip of the fork, nibbling at the pieces before continuing.

"You should get some rest one of these days, and I'm not talking about power naps either."

Rukia had taken her time getting clean, and the nurses had spent some time fussing over her and bandaging her ribs and hand. So by the time she was finished in the showers it was about time to head to her room for dinner. She was more than happy to do so, having had group therapy during lunch.

When the young nurse asked her if she preferred salad or soup, Rukia opted for soup; it was a comfort food, and she needed that right now. Mustering up a sweet smile, she bid the nurse good night, and waited quietly until the woman left.

Brushing her hair back away from her face, Rukia double-checked that Renji's katana was still where she'd left it, then sat down to eat. The steak smelled good, as did the soup, so she dug in.

[identity profile] heartcrown.livejournal.com 2007-08-22 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Kairi felt stupid. How could she have slept half of the day away? She had missed showering too, which was an even lower blow. Running a hand through her hair, she muttered something about how gross she felt before nodding to the nurse about whatever she had just said. Whoops.

The steak looked kind of gross – she wasn’t really that into meat … she liked fruits more – so she quickly chose a salad to go with it. Reaching the room, she strode in in silence, looking to Rukia with a soft smile before waving goodbye to her nurse.

“Long time no talk, huh?” came Kairi’s hushed greeting, her eyes looking to the ground. When she finally looked up, her eyes caught upon Rukia’s bandaged hand, and her eyes widened in shock. Running to the girl’s side, she didn’t touch her, simply looked. “Oh! Are you all right? What happened to you...?”

She hadn't appreciated being forced to move when she was so comfortable in the Games Room, but the nurses just wouldn't take no for an answer. Once back in her room, Rangiku sighed softly and flopped down on her bed. For once, the other bed was empty suggesting that her roommate was awake finally.

The meal was delivered and she pulled the tray onto her lap, starting in on the food. She hadn't eaten as much as she'd have liked during the day. Lunch and breakfast had been distracting, although she'd met a couple more people.

Walking into the cafeteria, Elphaba was surprised to see it quite empty. A nurse came up quietly beside her, and mentioned that dinner was in the rooms. She took Elphaba gently by the arm, her touch gentle, though the grip was iron-hard, and nearly as cold. Elphaba muttered responses to the nurse's inquiries about dinner, and after gently refusing the steak a few times, begrudgingly accepted that the nurse would not take no for an answer. Perhaps her mysterious roommate would want it.

Arriving at the room, Elphaba was startled to see another individual in the room. She'd seen the girl around during the day, but with so many others around, Elphaba hadn't seen the need to waste time trying to find her roommate.

The nurse left her just inside the door, closing it with a small click. Elphaba stood, rather stiffly, and coughed shortly to get the girl's attention.

"I am Elphaba, and whom might you be?"

Sai was somewhat distracted as he sat down for dinner ("What? Oh. Salad, thank you.") and he couldn't put a finger on why. But he was also refreshed after his shower, and that was a good thing with the night shift coming up. He couldn't only hope tonight didn't end up being as dangerous as the night before. The pirates had plans, it seemed.

He picked idly at his food. Peas were good. And potatoes. The steak was a little more hearty than he was used to, but getting some meat down too would probably do him well. He wondered about his roommate as he ate. Being sedated so soon to the beginning of night shift might put him in danger.

Being able to walk was one of the few things Kurikara had never been properly thankful for. It was a blessing to make it all the way back to his room, feeling a little woozy but on his own two feet. He hated being carried.

When he got in he reached imideatly for his food and, flopped onto his stomach in bed. He was so hungry after eating almost nothing he could care less what he was putting into his mouth - meat, potato, part of the plate... He didn't even look at his roommate until his hunger was stated.

He rolled over onto his back and pulled his shirt up slightly, letting his hand rest on his bare stomach. There were things he should be doing tonight. Seeing Byakko, yes, but also - Hisoka. All of his tension returned to him, and he felt his own claws digging into his side slightly. He looked over at Sai again.

"Boy. Did you look at the bulletin just before you were brought here?"

So when Peony came back to his room that evening, it actually sort of surprised him that there wasn't that big, roughly human-shaped lump in the bed that wasn't his. Hmm, maybe it'd been a person after all. And maybe that person was wandering around all day! He'd never really had a roommate before; the idea was rather foreign to him, anyway. To not allow the emperor his private chambers? Unthinkable.

Thank goodness he'd had that privacy, even while being locked up.

Well, at least it was good and light when he got to his room now - he could easier see what was inside. Throwing his journal on the bed and forgoing the food for now, he started going through the drawers and seemingly randomly tossing the contents of them on the floor. Maybe he'd find something cool after all!

What.. some pens, a keyring.. some shirts.. Huh. Could be useful. Maybe. Who could say just yet?

And his bat and helmet were still under the bed, too! Just where he'd left them. Awesome.

Siegfried had fallen asleep in the Sun Room and had missed the previous shift entirely, which did not bother him too much, but it meant that he had missed out on valuable time which could be used to gather more information about Landel’s Institute. Nightshift would soon set in however and he would be free to explore the Institute thoroughly.

By the time he returned to his room for dinner, Siegfried had almost completely forgotten about the person he had glimpsed in the other bed that morning and was therefore not expecting what he found when he entered the room. It was a complete mess, clothes and pens everywhere, and in the centre of it all was a tall blonde man. Judging from the state of the room, Siegfried guessed the other man was searching for something.

“What are you looking for?”

For once, Hitsugaya didn't have any major tasks ahead of him for dinner. Momo had finally settled down and given him the quiet to write up the maps he needed along with any extra orders. All that was left now was to wait until the doors opened.

He hated waiting.

Still, the salad the nurse gave him was almost edible, as were the peas. The steak was questionable, but at this point he was hungry enough that he wasn't going to complain. While he had eaten both breakfast and lunch, he still needed more food to power his reiatsu. Like other shinigami captains, his spiritual energy demanded a high intake of food whenever possible.

He sat down and casually ate, running through his head the plans for tonight.

Sanzo was getting sick and tired of all the crap he was getting because of Homura. Kenren had been the absolute last straw. The monk had been asking himself just why he shouldn't stand up and punch Kenren (there wasn't many reasons otherwise) when the shift ended. Lucky bastard.

Hitsugaya was already there. Sanzo ignored him for now, reaching under the mattress and pulling out the two files. With the way the day was going, the fact that they were still there was a miracle. Sanzo had half-expected the staff to have stumbled upon them with the way his shitty luck was going.

Pulling out the chair and letting it fall with more force than he'd intended, Sanzo sat down, spreading the two files out on the desk.

It had him listed as a Buddhist, and that he'd been training under his master. There was a brief mention of a break-in and that he'd been injured in it, not Koumyou. Sanzo frowned.

These weren't total lies either: someone either had done some basic research or something, rather than pulling all of it out of their ass. It was strange just how some of the smaller details were correct, enough that it made it harder to dismiss the rest of the notes as a complete fabrication. It also had it listed that he'd been put up for adoption as a baby before his master took him in, which was the first sign of bullshit that Sanzo spotted, aside from the part that had Koumyou being alive in the first place. Adoption would've been a far easier explanation to deal with, considering that he'd really been thrown into a river.

There wasn't any hints regarding Gojyo and Hakkai, and the only potential mention of Goku was that he'd had a student. No mention of stolen scriptures.

If he hadn't already gotten so much evidence to the contrary, he might actually have felt the first seed of doubt. As much as it'd hurt, that night with the doctor had provided him with enough confidence to say that the dayshift was just a front. There wasn't anything useful in his file, other than that nagging question as to that visitor he'd gotten.

Sanzo turned to Homura's file. It was going to be somewhat harder to pick out what was real and what wasn't, just because the monk wasn't familiar with the other patient's background.

Shitty childhood, check. Orphaned. Formal education was questionable. There was something about a woman getting involved with Homura, and her family being absolutely pissed about it. Unsurprising, considering what Sanzo had seen so far of the man. Homura had gone and joined the military, apparently with the idiot notion that it'd win the girl's family over. Sanzo rolled his eyes.

According to the last, Homura had gone through several missions before finally having flipped out after seeing his two friends getting killed. That in itself was a red flag: there hadn't been any major wars in the last twenty to thirty years, much less any large, organized military. Milita at best, and confined to smaller towns with the appearance of the first Minus Wave. The only real organization he'd seen for the youkai was from Kougaiji's camp. And that was still up for debate.

Sanzo closed the file and leaned back in the chair. Perfect. He was either dealing with someone with a bad case of shell-shock or Homura was telling the truth on some level. If Kenren hadn't verified it, Sanzo would've believed the former.

Steak! Yummy tasty delightful steak! Steak was good. Steak came from cows, which were once alive, which meant that maybe they screamed when they died. He liked that thought. It was a shame they couldn't give him a live cow, and the nurse only looked at him oddly when he asked.

But meat was yummy. Not as yummy as people, but Lust said he couldn't eat any of the people they were going with tonight. That made him sad, but hopefully they'd run into someone he could eat, or maybe they'd run into Envy. He could eat Envy. Envy was mean and not-nice to him, and Lust was good and smart and wise and gave him permission to eat him. He liked the thought of eating Envy. He'd never eaten a homonculus before. Maybe they tasted different. Would Envy scream when Gluttony ate him?

Happy thoughts.

He finished off his meal, then looked back to where the nurse had been, but she was already gone. That made him sad. He was going to ask for more. That or eat the nurse. She had pretty blonde hair. He liked eating blonde haired women the most. They screamed a lot.

The thought of traveling alone was not as disconcerting as Gin would have thought. He was familiar enough with the route now that traveling on his own would likely be fastest. And if that were so, it would give him plenty of time to give the kitchen a better look 'round.

The meal looked filling enough. When the nurse asked, he decided on salad with his food. It would be nice to have vegetables that hadn't been processed into something else. His roommate had been scarce even when they were in the same room together, so he wasn't terribly surprised that the man hadn't arrived for dinner yet.

Not that it mattered much to him. Gin started on his meal in silence, mapping out the route he would take in his mind.

Allen was disappointed that he hadn't been able to finish his game with Daemon, but there would be another time for that. He still wasn't sure how he was going to work things out, but he'd never been very good with planning ahead. Usually it was just play things by ear and figure it out as he went along. Tonight would be just like that. First he had to find Emily and put her into a group. Then would be the bigger problem, dealing with Rhode. What could he really do about her? If she hurt someone, he knew he'd feel responsible. They were supposed to be enemies, even if she was human.

If he knew what room she was in... if he was fast enough, couldn't he just keep her locked up there for the night? Then he'd be free to spend the rest of the night helping the others look for a way out. Or to find Ravi's Innocence. The boards had said something about a patient's possession room. Maybe it was there. He could always ask Emily if she knew anything about it.

The meal was hearty, but was small for his tastes. When asked for the option of soup or salad, he was disappointed when he couldn't take both. His arm did feel a little stronger, even if nothing else did. The rest... he'd just have to keep going despite his injuries. Many here were worse of than he was. Besides, complaining wouldn't get him anywhere.

Allen ate his meal quietly, waiting for his friend Sasuke to arrive. What had happened the other night? Just before the doors unlocked, some of the nurses had come in and... and now this morning he'd been wearing those strange dark glasses. Just what had happened between now and then? He was hesitant to ask, but he wanted to know all the same.

Sasuke left the Sun Room a little more encouraged than he had been going in -- if there was a way for a blind man to communicate with a blind-mute, there might be a way for Sasuke to be not-useless. He might have to deal with his former team more than he'd expected, but there would always be things he didn't want to do on the road to power.

"Oh, that nice Jamie is here already," his nurse said, as chipper as ever. Sasuke took that to mean that Allen's 'real' name was 'Jamie,' and with some effort convinced himself that she wasn't simply delaying a good trick by inventing an invisible person.

She hadn't so far. Actually, she'd been mostly professional so far (with the exception of her strange fixation on Naruto).

She still made him want to punch her, though, when she put a fork into his hand and told him to eat up and keep smiling before leaving.

"Allen," he acknowledged, once she'd gone. "Were you and your companions successful last night?"

Hopefully, he could get out of explaining his changed eyes and unexpected trip of the night before. Or, at least, explaining in detail. It would be obvious he was blind the moment he stabbed at and missed whatever they were having to eat, but there was no reason for another person to know how miserably unable to defend himself Sasuke had been.

Sousuke was escorted back to his room quickly, which was a shame. The sergeant had been looking forward to continuing his conversation with Mr. Hood. But, Sousuke had decided in the Game Room that disobeying his nurse wouldn't get him anywhere. Cooperating with his captor was the best way to get by without any trouble. Besides, if he disabled his nurse, several more would probably come, waving their needles full of the accursed drug.

The nurse put a steak, a potato, some peas, and a salad in front of Sousuke. He nodded to her, "Thank you."

"H-have a good night, Mr. Inoue," For the life of her, the nurse couldn't figure out why he was so polite and helpful now. Sousuke began eating his food--carefully of course. There could be tacks or rat poison in his steak.

It had been nice to get a shower, and although he'd toweled off, Usopp still felt his damp hair clinging to the back of his neck. He didn't bother asking the nurse for a hairbrush to avoid later frizzing, though, his hands still full with the day's bounty.

He stopped in surprise halfway into the room as it finally registered... the man in the bed across from his was not Kazuo. Zoro and Sanji were here for a while, but then they disappeared. He'd read about this sort f thing on the bulletin board too. Kazuo hadn't seemed like the type to just roll over and die, maybe he'd been sent home as unsuitable to whatever purpose they were supposed to be serving by scuttling around here. Maybe. It's not a question of rolling over and dying, if they can just knock us out any time then the only reason we're not dead is because they don't want to kill us. Or that's not the main thing they want. Or they want to watch us suffe... that's enough of that!

Realizing that he was still staring at the newcomer and that the nurse was asking him a little louder if he'd like soup or salad, Usopp muttered, "Um, salad please," then took the tray to place on his bed beside the pastels and the small medicine containers he'd gotten from his therapy session. He had important work to do between dinner and bedtime, while the nurse was out, not to mention the wounds on his arms and legs could use some of that cream. But he found himself still gawking a little at his new roommate.

"Hi. My name's Usopp."

Luffy was in good spirits by the time showers ended. Doing things with Usopp usually made them even more fun and interesting, and bathing was no exception. It made him a little sad that it was time for everyone to go back to their rooms, but he immediately perked up when he found out they were going to be eating dinner. The pirate was always up for a good meal, especially if it involved meat!

As tempting as it was to start digging into his meal right away, Luffy waited until his Cat Lady was gone before checking the closet to make sure his and Usopp's treasure was still okay. Fortunately, it was, which meant that he'd be able to give it back to Usopp tonight! Humming to himself now, Luffy settled down in front of his steak and began to chow down.

His roommate hadn't arrived yet. Come to think of it, he hadn't seen the boy around for the past couple of days, which was strange. They hadn't known each other well, but Luffy at least hoped he was eating this delicious steak somewhere.

It had seemed that Kyon was running into all kinds of interesting company during his day here. Leaving the newly aquainted Keigo, hopefully on his own a little bit calmer than he'd been in the showers, Kyon was escourted back to his room for ...dinner?

Had it really gotten so late? The day went by like it was nothing and Kyon felt as though he'd made no progress on the situation. He had some info, but otherwise he was empty handed.

Dammit he didn't even think to get Haruhi's room number! How was he going to find her again!? She couldn't possible run about on her own during the nightshift! What if one of those monsters got her!? Oh god, if that happened, he could just HEAR the crap from everyone.

Heading back into the room, food in hand, he saw that his room was occupied by another already eating.

Clark thought he had a little better idea what was going on in this Landels place, but not as much as he would've liked. He still didn't know how he'd got here in the first place, for starters, or what they wanted of him. The only thing that seemed certain was that this place definitely wasn't normal, not with the description of "monsters" that he'd gotten from Kasady and Barret. 'Course, they could be both crazy (after all, they were in what looked like a very convincing mental hospital during the day), but Clark wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Hopefully by tonight, he'd be able to find a way out - without betraying too much of his powers - and contact the police or the proper authorities about this place.

Clark didn't feel too hungry as he was returned to "his" room, but he dug into the food waiting anyway. The steak was okay, the baked potato was even better, but the peas? Clark didn't care too much for those and pushed them to the side of his plate.

When he woke this morning he was in a state of shock, and thus failed to notice the second bed in "his" room, but Leon was wide awake now. He stopped short just inside the door, shock and dismay flitting over his features for a brief moment. This place just kept getting worse--now he was expected to share quarters.

Quickly regaining his composure, Leon said nothing as he moved over to his bed and examined the dinner offerings. Pre-cut steak, how cute. Oh well, food was food, and it smelled okay. He set to eating, without ever looking directly at his roommate again.

Artemis Fowl was smug. A confused Nurse Hedgerow escorted him along the hall, babbling about how he should have had Group Therapy. She couldn't imagine what had happened to the nurse who was supposed to hold it. Fortunately her incessant babbling allowed Artemis to grin his satisfied grin. Someone somewhere must have caught wind that the boy didn't take kindly to psychologists, and he had already sent two of the Institution's therapists packing. It had been a good day--besides the chess game.

Until he got to the shower. Artemis' eyes raked over the shower heads and stools. The room was empty now, but it reeked of Communal Bathing. Nurse Hedgerow told him to shower quickly and then he could go back to his room to eat. Artemis complied, scrubbing two days worth of sweat and dirt off of him. It wasn't his beloved shower back at Fowl Manor, but it would have to do. He could only pray that he would never be forced into this room while other people were in here.

And then he was back in his room, a steak in front of him. It was, quite arguably, the best meal he'd had in this place. He opted for a salad, and Nurse Hedgerow left him to eat in silence. Hopefully Haku would show up soon. Artemis admitted to himself that he wasn't sure what he'd do if his roommate was taken tonight. Haku was so much stronger than Artemis was, and he was sure that the boy would make mincemeat out of Artemis. He sighed.

"Not the time to think about this," Artemis muttered to the room.

Re: M47

[identity profile] faithful-frost.livejournal.com 2007-08-23 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Haku was livid. Not that one could tell by looking or listening to him. If anything, he appeared frightened, upset, and the remains of tear tracks were still on his face. He sniffled a bit for good measure and the nurse was quick to console him.

She told him to 'cheer up', and that 'neither of those men would bother him again'. It took a great deal of self-control to not simply reach out and crush her throat.

He sniffled and scrubbed at his face when he was ushered in and nodded when the woman directed him to his food and told him to 'cheer up' once more. He didn't want to embarrass himself in front of his friend, no did he?

As soon as the door shut, Haku turned to Artemis and smiled warmly, using his shirt to wipe the tears off.

"Goodness, what a chore."
