Day 26: Intercom, Evening
The intercom clicked on with its usual jingle, the Head Doctor clearing his throat before he made his last shift-changing announcement of the day.
"Well, now that everyone is clean and having fun, I suppose it's time for everyone to be escorted back to their rooms for dinner! Yes, yes, I know the game room can be entertaining and doctor sessions can be fulfilling, but we only have so much time in the day, don't we?
"Ah, and speaking of dinner, tonight, we'll be having an old favorite--seasoned steak, a baked potato, and peas! Yum, yum. You also get a choice of vegetable soup or caesar salad--just tell your nurse which you'd prefer--and may also choose from our usual variety of drinks."
He made his usual pause, perhaps contemplating what the night would have in store once the sun fully set. Now, however, wasn't the time to reveal such musings, and so he ended on his usual cheery note:
"That's about all for now! I hope you all enjoy your suppers."
And again the intercom turned off.

Re: F9
Arriving at the room, Elphaba was startled to see another individual in the room. She'd seen the girl around during the day, but with so many others around, Elphaba hadn't seen the need to waste time trying to find her roommate.
The nurse left her just inside the door, closing it with a small click. Elphaba stood, rather stiffly, and coughed shortly to get the girl's attention.
"I am Elphaba, and whom might you be?"
Re: F9
"Matsumoto Rangiku. Rangiku is fine. Pleased to meet you."
Re: F9
Elphaba headed over to her desk, pulled out her journal, and began slowly scrawling in some of her thoughts from the past day or so (she wasn't sure, time pulled like taffy here). She still wasn't used to so much paper, which caused her to grimace at the largely blank book. She was amused that the girl was sitting on the bed as she ate, reminding her of her first year when she'd return to her dormitory after supper to find Galinda and her gaggle of acquaintances lounging on the bed with some snacks that Amma Clutch had likely pilfered from the kitchens. Still perhaps even though she was attempting to be charming, she'd have some wit behind those bright eyes.
When Elphaba's food arrived a few minutes later, she tore into her meal, excepting the steak. They'd even been kind enough to bring her some tea, albeit lukewarm, and a bit bitter. Still, it wasn't water, and she'd had far worse tea.
"If you have no qualms, I'm not touching this steak," Elphaba said, sliding the cow meat (or was it Cow meat?) away from the rest of her food.
[ooc: do you know if we got knives with the steak?]
Re: F9
With her roommate settled and her own food very much finished (she was still hungry all the time which meant reiatsu was still being produced. A comfort although a little frustrating), Rangiku reached out to grab her notebook, flicking it open to an empty page and pulling out the map she had been making. She'd need to see if anything had been added from what other people had found in the morning.
She looked up when Elphaba spoke shrugging elegantly. "I've no problems with it, although if you want to pass it over here, I could use the extra energy." And she hated food being wasted.
She finished off the map and tore it out, marking out details about the monsters that people had mentioned (http://community.livejournal.com/damned_bulletin/70476.html) on the back. With that done, she held the map out for Elphaba. "Map of everything the Arts and Crafts groups have seen, plus details about whatever monsters are around that people have seen."
Re: F9
"They'd mentioned earlier of a basement, yet I don't see any stairs leading to such a level..."
She turned over the map to look at the beasts described, a few she recognized, many she did not. "These have all been spotted here?" she inquired. It seemed the Wizard and her captors were working far beyond what she considered their level of expertise and security. No matter, nothing biological was without its weak points.
She handed the map back to Rangiku.
Re: F9
She nodded, a contemplatative look on her face. "Until earlier, I don't think anyone knew there was a basement. It's quite possible that someone has come across a stairway and just hasn't told anyone, or possibly that a doorway has been blocked off until now. They mentioned work had been done on it although I'm not sure how far I believe them." She wasn't sure how plausible it was hat they'd simply missed a stairwell though. Unless it was extremely well hidden, maybe out in the grounds. They hadn't been spending so much time searching out there. She tapped her lips consideringly. Something to mention to Captain at least.
She nodded grimly. "All of those have been encountered here. From what I've gathered, the rats and cats are the most common but also he least dangerous." She let the sleeves of her top fall down, showing off the bandages which covered her arms. "There was also something I encountered last night. A spirit, vengeful. Took the form of a woman wearing a blood stained kimono. She chased my team with blue flames and her touch causes wounds across the body." She gave a self depreiciating smirk. "I was a little too slow unfortunately."
She blinked in surprise when Elphaba tried to return the map and then shook her head with a slight smile. "Keep it. I already have a copy."
Re: F9
She grabbed the alchemist's torch and the box with the dials on it, and queried her roommate, "What are these?"
[ooc: the torch is a flashlight, and the box would be the radio]
Re: F9
She glanced at the items. "A flashlight and a radio. Press the button on the top of the flashlight and if you switch the radio on, there's a man who speaks from it sometimes at night. He mainly taunts the Head Doctor but sometimes offers clues about where to find things. I wouldn't trust him as far as I can throw him, but it can be useful."
Re: F9
She sat for a while in silence, and when the intercom played it's first two messages and then the lights shut off and the doors clicked open, Elphaba wished for a moment that she was surprised.
In any case, Elphaba now had a map, a method of lighting her way/attracting beasts to her presence, and apparently a method of obtaining clues to further information.
When the radio clicked on, she nearly dropped it. She listened to the words of the announcer, and decided that, until she found a better method of defending herself, an object which could turn on and cause loud noises of its own accord would not be wise to bring along.
"Happy hunting," she said to her roommate as she put on her jacket and outdoor slippers, pocketed the flashlight, and headed out into the darkness.
