Night 70: West Wing, South Hall 1-A
[From here.]
It was quiet -- so quiet that Castiel slowed his pace slightly, keeping a careful eye on the dark hallway that stretched out in front of him. With the help of his flashlight he was able to spot the stairs that would have taken him up to the second floor, if that was where he wanted to go. Instead, access to the third floor was supposedly found here on the ground level. That was the exact sort of confusion that he would expect from the Head Doctor, however.
As empty as the area was, there didn't seem to be any sign of monsters or ghosts, either. He was alone, and while that might have been frightening to a human, Castiel saw it as liberating. He squared his shoulders and kept moving toward the meeting place he and Kratos had decided on.

He slowed down because he realized he was being ridiculous. Even if he'd been told that such things similar to ghosts did exist and even if Gabe had corroborated the story, the circumstances hadn't been reproduced. He wasn't traveling with two guys taller than he was, one of whom had been chanting something, and it wasn't the same night, and—
And it wasn't the same hallway. His step faltered, but only once. This was the only way forward that he knew. He'd deal with anything if it came up.

As usual, the halls were fairly empty, so Kyousuke made his way as quickly as he could while scanning the are for any potential threats. Normally he was slow and incredibly careful, but tonight, he was more aggressive about the process, which meant that he exited the patient halls a bit more quickly than usual. His ribs still stung and protested too much movement, but it was getting better and better, and at this point, it wasn't nearly enough to slow him down. At the rate things were going, it might even be gone within a couple of days.
Accelerated healing... Vaguely, he wondered what caused it, but it didn't matter too much. It was good, to be able to move around like this, and that was all he knew about it. In a normal case, he probably would have been confined to bed for at least a few days after that injury, left inactive and useless and with nothing to preoccupy him from dwelling on what had happened. ... Not that he was doing a very good job at right now.
Why did he keep reflecting on this...? It was... hard, but he didn't have the time to dwell on that. He had to keep moving forward. And right now, that meant helping Kratos and Lloyd, so that something like with Sora never happened again.
[ Lloyd! ]

Even though Lloyd had hoped to run into Tsurugi, he hadn't really expected to see the dark-haired boy in the next hall he turned into. He pulled in a breath, nearly calling out - only for that breath to catch and cut off when he thought he saw something out of the corner of his eye.
Again, though, there was nothing, even when he let his flashlight play across that part of the hall longer than he necessarily needed to. A quick turn made sure that no one had come up behind him, either. Paranoid. He was being paranoid.
He thought had good reason to be.
Only once he was satisfied did he start forward, picking his speed up. Had Tsurugi already moved on? "Tsurugi!" he whispered. He thought there was someone still up ahead.

Well, whatever. He'd probably tell him if he felt like it.
"I was just heading to the second floor," he said, nodding in greeting. "Do you mind helping me find wherever they took you?" He half wondered if he shouldn't put that another so he didn't remind Lloyd too much of what had happened, but he guessed there wasn't much he could do about it. Considering what they were looking for, it was going to come up in some way or another no matter what.

They'd probably need all they could get.
His eyes glanced around again when Tsurugi spoke, unable to resist the urge to check again, to make sure they were alone. Even so, he shook his head, missing the silent evaluation. "Not at all," he said. "I was actually hoping I'd find you." He started moving down the hall, heading toward he was pretty sure he remembered there being stairs. Sure enough that he didn't think he needed to consult his map to check. Knowing that, though, didn't keep a pensive frown off his face. "I'm not sure how well I can lead us there, though. They knocked me out before they took me up there, and I couldn't see when they let me go. I didn't have a flashlight until Kratos..." A flicker of something unreadable pinched his face. "Until Kratos found me. I was bleeding, though, so maybe there's a trail we can follow."

Anise passed the main hallway, noting that Guy and Claude hadn’t arrived yet. That was good; maybe she could get her little errands done before they’d even notice she wasn’t there.
Her pace quickened as Anise hurried to the men’s block, her pillowcase sack still clanging with each step.

As he neared the next prisoner block, Zero forced any unnecessary thoughts to cease immediately so he could return his full focus to his surroundings. First thing's first: sweeping the flashlight beam across the hall to see if X might be anywhere in sight. A few seconds of searching was enough to confirm that he wasn't there, however. So chances were, he was still in his own block, or maybe even his own room...but he usually beat Zero out here, though. Hmm...
The once-Reploid tried to beat back any instant alarmist thoughts as he slowly moved ahead to the block entrance. He was most likely running late...that's all.
(But Zero himself was already running a little late, as far as he knew...)

The going was a bit slow without his light, though his eyes were beginning to adjust to the vague shapes and occasional skip of light from other groups as they began the night's adventures. Tonight's task would likely be more dangerous, but much as he might wish to avoid conflict, if he didn't seek out the demons and creatures that supposedly lurked here, he might never find out where Ririchiyo had gone.
The Sun Room then, was where most had urged him not to visit. Though it was calming and quiet in the daytime, in the night, it supposedly held untold horrors. He steeled his nerves and continued.

It wasn't too far to their meeting spot; in fact, it wouldn't take much more than a few seconds to get there. How many times had he walked down this hallway in the past...it almost seemed routine now. Kratos still kept an eye out for anything suspicious, though: even routine walks could swiftly become messy without the necessary vigilance.

Now he kept even more of an eye out, remembering what Scar said about where he got attacked, flicking the beam of his flashlight across the path to reveal anything that may be there.

"Um, by the way," Claude added as he fished through his pocket, "I brought that thing I meant to give to you before. It's not much, but--"
Finally, he extended his gloved hand out to Guy. Resting in his palm was the flash drive he'd been holding onto, attached to the chain that originally came with the military's dog tags -- essentially a necklace, although not in the traditional sense.
"It's a device used to hold data," he casually added. "Supposedly, it's storing a bunch of stuff I've written, but considering how this place operates, who knows if that's true. Since it was just collecting dust in my room, though, I thought it might be better off with you since you're interested in this kind of stuff."
Well...the story was actually more complicated than that. But with how often Claude had been sleeping lately, he had to at least face the possibility that his days in Landel's were numbered. And if that did end up being the case, he wanted to believe that Thomas Appleby would want to visit long enough to reclaim his flash drive from a good friend. Fortunately, there wasn't any reason to say all of that out loud. He didn't want to ruin the present, after all.

When Claude suddenly brought up that gift he'd mentioned the other night, Guy blinked, glancing over at his friend. He'd completely forgotten about it because so much else had been going on, between Lloyd's disappearance and their trips down to the caverns.
Carefully, he reached out to take the not-quite-necklace from Claude, listening carefully as he explained what it was. "To hold data?" He glanced down at it. It was so small. He couldn't imagine that enough writing to make up a book would actually be held on something like this, but he also trusted Claude. "How does it work?"
Either way, he was touched by the gesture and broke out into a warm smile. "Thank you, Claude. I look forward to when I get to read all of it for myself. And in the meantime, I'll take care of it." He slipped the flash drive into his pocket, figuring that it would be safer there than worn around his neck.
At that point they reached the door into Luke's block, and Guy led them through.

But to waste time on a nostalgia that was about nothing more than use was precisely that: a waste of time.
Building allies had increasingly become the same waste, too many patients here and gone again. How many were left from Sasuke's first days at the Institute besides Aidou? The Elrics had mentioned a name Sasuke had known very briefly and mostly in passing, but to have been gone so long and returned again made pursuing that line of inquiry a doubtful proposition.

A different looking door led him to yet another hallway. This one, however, was different. It was bigger. Empty. Eerie. 6 wasn't sure if he liked this place. An open door stood at one end, though he couldn't see what was beyond it. The other end seemed to open into something bigger. He thought he could hear something from that direction. It was quiet, and he couldn't be completely sure of what it was, but it almost sounded like footsteps. Excited, he decided to go that way.

It felt like an eternity since Skulduggery last saw this hallway in the dark. He hadn't had a chance to leave his room after killing the Scarecrow, and at least two days passed after that without his being aware of them. The night before the last time he saw his roommate, Skulduggery was drugged and taken from the room while unconscious.
His memories of this place were certainly less than satisfactory, but in a way, they were easier to think about than Skulduggery's companion. Being in the company of an Archangel was something he still hadn't fully processed, and didn't intend to fully process while he still needed his full wits about him. Particularly if Gabe was still hallucinating.

Memories of a skeleton. Memories of necromancy. Of shadow-vines. Of hearing things. Of a friend who'd forgotten who he was.
He turned back to the front, quickening his pace. "We should move fast through here. We're almost at the point where we got attacked the other night."
