At first, the idea of being stuck in this meatbag dwelling sector at night seemed like a wonderful idea. So many targets, such an open field, and so many things that could be repurposed for use as weapons!

...Then he saw all the zombies. After the talk of those 'space barnacles' last night, it was fairly easy to identify them as such. But the only thing was, those things were supposed to only affect droids.

Now there were meatbag zombies. All over the place. And he didn't have a flamethrower. Oh no no no nononono.

In short, HK freaked out.

Before anyone could come to any decisions for their next move, the room suddenly filled with a thick fog. Faster than he could realize what was happening, it had filled up the entire room and swallowed every single one of his friends. Then there was that undeniable stench of iron, blood and... he last remembered taking a step back and feeling that slippery skid and the realization of what that was. By the time he yelled, he was sitting straight up in his bed like he'd bolted awake. Like it'd been nothing more than a bad dream. ...What the hell just happened?!

"Oh! Good morning!" The nearby voice made him yelp with a half squeak-like noise. Oh, for hell's sake. It was one of those freaking nurses again. She was beaming at him like nothing had happened at all. Before he could so much as ask one question, the hag started blathering real fast about some field trip and buses and getting changed and hurrying up before everyone left without him and... OH MY GOD, WHAT WAS SHE DOING?! She was grabbing at his shirt like she was about to start helping him get dressed (or undressed in this case).

He flailed in a desperate attempt to get away from her and yelled his consent to go along if she would get out and let him change HIMSELF. What was the matter with her?! Thankfully, she left but told him to hurry. Hell if he knew what she'd do if he took too long. So for the sake of not getting freaking stripped, he quickly changed into the clothes she'd left on the bed. Clothes being the ugliest looking white-and-black track pants he'd ever seen and a bright blue sweatshirt with a cute little penguin design on the front. This was some kind of joke, right? ...Not to say the penguin wasn't cute or anything but there was no way, no way, he was wearing something like this in public.

But the nurse had burst right in again, and before Kanji could offer much protest, he was being pulled down the hallways and through the doors of the bus. He'd yelled some things her way, but she totally wasn't listening at all. By the time they stopped, he was standing at the front of the bus with a paper bag and the nurse had run off to cart another poor sap along. Frickin' PERFECT. For the sake of not standing up there like some kind of zoo animal for everyone to stare at, he plopped himself into one of the seats by the front and sighed in complete exasperation.

Another night, another wait. This time, Miku made herself stay put. It was hard to do much without her flashlight, but she was sure Sousuke would bring her bag with him. She'd have to see about reinforcing it, and finding proper sewing needles and thick thread. With a little sigh, Miku rested her elbows on her knees and her chin in her hands. She wiggled her toes as she waited, feeling the nylon of her stocking stretch up and down.

The waiting always seemed to be the worst part of the evening. Were you eaten tonight or not? Would someone come after them? Would it be a friend?

I can't think like that. I need to think positively, Miku worried her lip. Because I made a promise for tomorrow. She nodded to herself and watched the doorway. Sousuke would be coming soon and she'd have to be ready. Idly, she found herself watching her roommate. It was better than nothing.

[From here. Outside F3]

Because she needed to get to Orihime and Shiki's room before either of them left, Ururu had practically run the short distance down the halls. Normally she might not, since she knew better than to run inside. Tessai-san didn't like it when Jinta-kun did that at the shop especially, since something usually ended up broken because of it. In this case, though, Ururu decided to take the risk if it meant getting their sooner.

Plus Ururu thought that trying to walk right then would be even harder than running.

It only took a few minutes for the girl to get to the door of F3. She'd been there a few times, so that helped. Ururu knocked hard, then tried to be patient and not knock again right away. There were a lot of possibilities. Maybe her friends were asleep, or maybe they had left before she'd gotten there. Ururu didn't think they could have, but she couldn't say they didn't, either. At least not until she saw inside the room for herself.

But she couldn't do that yet. Ururu had to be patient, so she began to fidget outside the door. Then she knocked again, just in case they hadn't heard her the first time. And in case they hadn't heard her then, she called out too.

"Um, Orihime-san, Shiki-san? It's Ururu. Are you okay?"

Yuffie was in two minds about how the 'meeting' with Orangello had gone. No, scratch that; two was way too small a number. Maybe four? Or five, no, make it six. Maybe. The only thing she knew for sure was that something had to give, and it sure wasn't going to be her. Whether or not she actually joined up with anybody was irrelevant, as long as she got the results she was aiming for; Yuffie wasn't so proud that she'd refuse help when it was offered. But whether or not that she could trust the ones offering…

It was enough to give her a headache.

Still, messing around on the bulletin had brightened her spirits a little. There, she could pretend to be friendly with Orangello. There, she could pick on Yukari. There, she could gather and exchange - haha - information with people like Suzie, who (like Yukari) was the epitome of entertainment. And with the likes of Lelouch, who she really didn't know quite what to make of. He was an arrogant bastard, but even Yuffie couldn't deny that he'd be handy to have on-side.

The day's schedule, apart from the time in the Rec Field later on, looked like it was designed with the sole intention of boring her to death. Yuffie sighed noisily at a plant, easily kidding herself into believing that nope, she wasn't happy to be around some genuine greenery again. Gardening was for people like Aerith. Hopefully Elena wouldn't take too long to find her.

The Head Doctor seemed a little rushed as he spoke on the intercom, not taking as much pleasure as he usually did in describing the delicious food that would soon be served.

"Hello, everyone! Tonight is turkey night, which means turkey breast in a great turkey gravy with some nice turkey sides: peas, herb potatoes, a small garden salad, and for dessert, a slice of pumpkin pie. We of course have vegetarian substitutes available, as well as our usual assortment of drinks.

"...I believe that's it! I'll talk to you soon!"

The intercom clicked off abruptly.

That had been a very interesting shift, Miku decided as she was wheeled around. Not only for making a new friend in Endrance (well, perhaps not friend, but very kind acquaintance), but for the overload of unwanted information from the bulletin. It was enough to make her want to hide until there was no chance of a blush ever forming on her face (and ears, and neck and anywhere else a blush might decide to raise its wily head).

Her nurse was oddly quiet for once, as she gathered her meal (vegetable pizza and milk) and wheeled Miku away from the crush of other patients being herded in. Well, then it would be a quiet lunch, she decided.

"Now, Alice, I expect not to see a crumb of food left, do you hear? Not a crumb," her nurse chastised her gently and Miku winced. So, they were noticing. She'd have to be more careful to eat a little more.

"Ah... yes. I'm sorry," Miku ducked her head and started picking at her meal with her knife and fork. "I'll eat." Even if the nurse was really a monster at night, she hated that tone of disappointment. She sighed and picked at what appeared to be a piece of broccoli on her pizza.

That really hadn't been the breakfast she'd been expecting, but Yuffie couldn't bring herself to complain. The kid made for good company, and was, if nothing else, pretty entertaining. She could've just done without the whole choking thing. That… That had been embarrassing. A bit. Okay, a lot. Yuffie was starting to get a feeling that this day was -- for once-- actually going to ping on her ‘interesting!’ meter.

Whether or not that was a good thing, she didn’t know.

By the time she’d reached the Sun Room's bulletin board, a kitten on her shoulder and a pen twirling between her fingers, Yuffie was starting to put her finger on why she had that weird, nagging feeling. Though on second thought, it was less like putting her finger on it and more like it had jumped up and punched her right in the nose; the feeling wasn’t just about waffles, magicians, or tricky candy thieves. Sagara hadn't answered her bulletin post; he hadn't answered any bulletin posts. She hadn't seen that stupid, spiky head of his all morning. It was like radio silence without a radio.

Agai-- No, Yuffie cut herself off sharply, frowning. She was just jumping to conclusions. It wouldn't be the first time, right? Right! And yet… instincts were instincts for a reason, and in a dump like this, who knew what could happen?

Ah, that was right. He should roll up-- Huh?

Cross blinked his eyes open to stare up at the ceiling, then sat up quickly. That was odd. Hadn't he just been in the hallway? This was the second time he'd woken in a room like this and it was baffling. He didn't even recall anything that would cause him to fall unconscious again. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he took a moment to scratch his head and try to put together pieces of a puzzle that had no intention of fitting.

This was ridiculous.

He wasn't allowed much more time before a boisterous woman arrived saying something about breakfast. Too surprised to put up much of an argument, Cross allowed her to lead him out of the room to a familiar and yet unfamiliar hallway. This wasn't the same room he'd been in the night before.

Trying to ask what was going on proved to be fruitless, and he decided to just take the food he was served and sit down. There had to be someone around here who knew something. And what had happened to Ryuuzaki?

[From here.]

This was the room that she'd been brought into when Tseng had his "visit". Maybe there would be some sort of clue somewhere.

It was a simple enough room, and Elena didn't think there would be a whole lot in here. But she had to try something. Maybe there'd be a trap door or something somewhere, or hidden documents, or cameras, or...

She stepped farther into the room, not really sure what to look out for, but determined to see if there was any chance of learning something new.

Ophelia carefully opened the door, listening and looking around in both directions for any signs of monster activity. When she was satisfied that there was none that she could detect, she swung the door open and hurried down toward the main hall where more of the moonlight could be seen faintly. Once she got there, she knew she was definitely going to have to keep her guard up, considering that the main hall had been where the big monster from the previous night had been.

Though experimenting with playing cards wasn't exactly the hardest of bodily training, Ophelia did feel that the rigorous testing of her speed, accuracy and throwing power had sharpened her mind for the coming night, and she went out into the night confident that she would be able to handle herself much more gracefully than she had previously. It still irked her greatly that she was no longer able to face any challenge that came her way head on, but she realized now that if she was going to make any progress in attempting to get her power back and shove Martin Landel's balls up his own esophagus, she was going to have to turn down a few fun opportunities here and there.

Ophelia left her room with Kio's maps and a handful of pens in her pockets. She felt more than a little naked without anything else in hand, and she was reminded instantly that she missed not having her full night vision, but no matter. She had to get to the Sun Room quickly. There was no way she was going to get tied up again and miss the opportunity to get further into the basement. The fact that Landel had mentioned something about "down there" specifically in his intercom announcement only made Ophelia more eager.

The Claymore hurried down the hall as fast as she could while making sure she didn't bump into anything in the dark.

She’d never been in the Game Room before.

It didn’t look spectacularly interesting, she had to admit… but it’d be more fun than just hanging out in the Sun Room, right? Yuffie idly thumbed through a deck of cards, walking around the room to examine various bits and pieces. Board games, video games, chess… No really awesome prank material that she could see, but maybe she could rope somebody into a game of poker? That could be fun, but… ah, then again, most of the patients were just like her -- they didn’t have anything really cool that she could swindle out of them. Not until Nightshift, anyway.

Still! She’d keep it in mind. It wasn’t like there was anybody else in the room yet anyway, so any potential swindling would have to wait a little while. What could she do in the meantime, huh? Pick- pocketing a nurse could be fun..! Wait -- no, not when it was quiet like this. She’d have to wait until there was more cover, unless she got distracted. Yuffie hadn’t stolen anything in days, not since that time in Doyleton, with the Kaito kid…

Yuffie smirked. That had been fun.

What a singularly delightful evening he'd had. It was dampened, of course, by two things, but those were small things and he supposed he could overlook them for now. First was that his powers had still not returned. If he truly were on punishment as he thought, though, he couldn't very well expect those to come back. Second was that the little brat had gotten away and was likely gearing up to blow his cover. That was something a little more concerning, but he had a story he could use to sweep all that under the rug. Still, he'd gotten a beautiful box of scalpels out of the deal and even with the annoying pain of his skin being irritated by the drops of acid, he wasn't any worse for wear.

And just as he thought that, Grell woke up in his bed, disorientated as he had been the previous night, still cluthing the box of blades, but no longer in his own clothes. The indecency of it all! Honestly! To strip a lady when she was unconscious was just unheard of! Stupid future and its stupid lack of any sort of propriety. At least it seemed someone might be dead according to the last announcement. That brightened his day a bit.

Getting out of bed before Mr. Grumpyface did, he hid the box of scalpels in his desk and sighed. His old glasses were gone, replaced with the ruddy circular pair and his clothes had been all but ruined the night before. He doubted he could do much for them either, since he'd been the one to rip the sleeve off. Such a shame, but it had kept him from getting permanent scars on his arms.

It wasn't long before the nurse came and Grell once again put on his lovely little play for her. Confused, bumbling and asking for a hair tie, he was perplexed by the little round elastic thing he received in return, but used it anyway to put his hair back. Led into the cafeteria, Grell realized he was the first one and took a bit of breakfast before finding a seat.

[from here and about to be perved upon]

She'd been upstairs once, to visit the Chapel, but that had been during the day. There were no staff members escorting her this time, which only made things more dangerous, in a way. The shinigami, Abarai Renji, had been killed battling nurses at night.

When Tsubaki stepped into the stairwell, she did a quick check--stairs, behind the stairs, the door behind her--before putting a foot on the first step and slipping the makeshift bag off her shoulder to balance on her knee. The sound of her boot shifting against the edge of the step was eerily loud.

Once she'd fished out her flashlight, Tsubaki lifted the bag of cloth again.

A deep, silent inhale. Let's go.

Aw, no reply?  Yue wasn't as fun to tease as Kurogane, Yuuhi decided, because he just didn't get upset the same way the ninja did.  What was the fun in teasing if he didn't get a reaction?

"Mm hm," he confirmed, "right down here I think.  I haven't been down this way, but I remember passing it before."

He hadn't seen anyone go down this way just yet, which might mean they were the first ones for the night.  All the better their chances then, that they could get to the alcohol and other goodies first!  He just hoped that Yohji was right.

It became more obvious as he went down the hall that he'd been moved rooms: this wasn't the same room as it was the night before, he realized, shining his flashlight for a second on one of the room number plaques. Before, it'd been in the hundreds. Now he was passing M8, M9. Dean moved quietly, keeping up a good pace but not breaking into a run and stopping every now and then to listen. He stopped at the end of the hall, examining a door. This one led to a bathroom, which was where Skuld suggested he get metal for the knife.

Glancing around, he checked for anyone else - or anything - before turning back to the door and testing the handle. It turned, the men's bathroom door swinging open...

As far as dinner shifts went, that one had actually been enjoyable. It had been nice to have somebody to talk to, to show off for, and Sen hadn’t seemed to mind all that much. Except for that one teeny-tiny little slip, just after Yuffie’d revealed that she was a ninja…

What was with that?

Yuffie knew that it was a little unorthodox to be quite so ‘open’ about what she did, both back home and here in Landel’s. She had her reasons, though; logical reasons, no matter what anybody else had to say about it. And those reasons had a lot more to them than a simple love of showing off.

Maybe Sen was going to be another one of those who underestimated her, then - the woman had seemed to soak up everything she’d said like a sponge, hadn’t refuted anything, but… Yuffie couldn’t quite shake the feeling that something was off. Sen seemed so normal and, yeah, totally defenseless - but as far as she could tell, Landel had a weird fetish for kidnapping fighters, or people with some kind of ability or significance...

Ugh, maybe this place was just making her paranoid. Besides, now wasn’t the time to be cross-examining and mentally dissecting her roommate! She had places to go, people to see, and a Turk to interrogate! With that in mind, after a quick double-checking of her ’equipment’ - a small bunch of pens tucked away in various places, the gardening claw, and her flashlight - the young thief headed out into the night.
