And then he was back in his room again. Sai frowned at the ceiling momentarily, but was soon sitting up. He was back in the Landel's uniform again, which really saved him the trouble of having to change, didn't it?

It was disappointing that he hadn't had the opportunity to finish his discussion with Usopp, but luckily they'd already made plans for the morning meal - to include their new cohort, of course. Hopefully whatever had been responsible for making Usopp act the way he had the night before had worn off with the sunrise. Otherwise things would get troublesome.

The moment his nurse came to get him he was ready to leave, and as usual she was pleased with how willing to go along with the daily routine he was, though he hardly offered her any attention. Breakfast was... unpleasant looking, so Sai stuck to milk and fruit. Finding a table, he didn't yet take a seat but stood so that the two men he'd be meeting with could spot him easier.

Time to get down to business.

There, he had gotten the pleasantries out of the way. And he'd even managed to pull them off, at that: polite exchange of names and even an amiable comment.

Aidou thought he was doing quite well at the idle chitchat that night, as he passed into the autopsy room and took a look around. A very standard looking room. White walls, autopsy tables for the bodies, the assorted trays and lights. His gaze flicked to the cabinets on the wall--no doubt where the supplies would be, scalpels and dissecting equipment and the like--but it slid away soon enough. He wasn't interested in that stuff.

The noble put his hands on his hips. In fact, this was an equally pointless stop for him. What else had he been expecting? Aidou sighed. Time was short, after all. What now?

Aidou was a lot of things, but fearful of the unknown was not one of them: he entered without preamble, at home in the dark. And the frigid cold. Morgues of this kind were supposed to be cold to preserve corpses, he supposed, but it only helped him if something were to attack. The room was certainly well inclined towards ice at its temperature.

But he didn't see anything out of the ordinary, which was part of his chagrin.

"Come in, then. Looks fine so far," he announced to the other two. He wasn't sure if he wanted them making a clamour out of his sight.

He also didn't smell anything except maybe some antiseptics--not a whiff of anything vampiric. The noble hadn't seriously expected to find his cousin's dead body just lying out in the open, awaiting identification, but the fact he couldn't be sure there was anything related to Akatsuki's case was frustrating and worrisome. Aidou didn't let it impugn on his 'I've got a misson' mask, though. There were other avenues to explore, and while he was here, it wouldn't hurt to see if there really was a corpse and what kind of injuries it had. Multiple stab wounds, allegedly?

Respect for the dead was usually something he'd promote, but not here.

Focussing in on the line of drawers, Aidou marched right up and yanked out the fourth drawer, just as the intercom had said.

"Oh yay," she said aloud. "Another hallway."

The vengeance demon tried the nearest door. It was locked, but it didn't seem as well-locked as the one Angel had failed to break down - the lock jiggled a bit in her hand. It would probably fall apart with a couple good kicks. "What's behind here?" she asked Willow.

She shone her flashlight down the rest of the hall, which dead-ended not too far away. There was one more door, on the same side, further along. "And where does that go?"

Away from the windows looking down onto the Sun Room, the darkness was complete in the way it only can be indoors. Farfarello didn't mind, though--he preferred to rely on senses other than sight, anyway, since his sight was rather seriously flawed on account of his missing eye.

Farfarello kept an ear out for Faust, making sure the other man was indeed following him, but most of his attention was dedicated to scanning the area for foes. If it could be heard or scented, if it disturbed the air, Farfarello would know it was coming. That there could be things in this place that did none of that was a disturbing thought, but one that Farfarello quickly shrugged off--if he couldn't do anything about it, no point dwelling on it.

Stairs, stairs, stairs, Weren't they annoying? Kadaj's impatience made it difficult for him not to hate them, but thankfully, he wouldn't need to be stuck on them for long. The second floor wasn't that far away, so once he got past them, he could literally and figuratively get over the damn things. Their fault for impeding him anyway.

Nakago opened the door that led to the outside world as quietly as humanly possible, closing it as quietly as he had opened it. The former general, however, knew full well what happened if you remained outside for too long. Strange creatures appeared and attacked you; he still bore the healing scars of his encounter with the wild dogs, after all.

Best to make things quick, then.

A quick scan of what the rec field revealed rather familiar-looking territory on the opposite end where he had fought with the dogs the night before. That meant the door he and Mozenrath had come through to get here the night before had to be on the other side. Satisfied with this determination, Nakago took off as quickly as he could for that other door, having no desire to waste any time. He just wanted to get the map and then get back to his room.

Running it was, then. He would leave this place as quickly as he had arrived.

It didn't look like anyone had come through this way just yet.  The file room was still a long way off, on the other side of the building, but at least now he'd put some distance behind him.  He hadn't really been up this way much, not alone at least.  He'd seen some of it his first night, exploring and looking for supplies with Harry and the others.  Yuuhi tried to quiet his breathing, but his heart was beating faster than usual.  He continued on at a slightly slower pace now, on the lookout for creatures both in front and behind him.

After all of the painfully bright light he had been subjected to throughout the day, the pitch black halls of this place at night were a blessing. Recluse kept moving, far more silently than anyone would expect for such a large man. This shouldn't take long.

The hallway looked terribly long and empty when he stepped out.  The night had just barely begun and already he could feel a slight tremor in his hand.  He steadied it and began walking down the hall, toward the next, reminding himself that the more he lingered, the greater the chance that he'd run into someone he knew.  It was best to hurry.  The file room was on the other side of the building, so it would take a little while just to reach it.  He spotted a few other lights further down the hall and quickened his pace.

As usual, the door to the hallway had been open. He was never certain if it started that way or other prisoners opened, it, but he guessed it was probably the first option, now. He paused for just a moment to listen, then continued on. It wasn't that much further until he reached Daemon's room.

Falis strode down the hall from her room, a look of anticipation upon her face. The wooden rod rest easily upon her shoulder as she headed directly to the women's bathroom.

She wondered if the pansy wizard was even going to show.

“What?” Kairi had been in the middle of getting off of the bed when she heard the announcement the head doctor made, surprise overtaking her face. Hadn’t the man on the radio been well known? Hadn’t he helped all kinds of people?

Her look of shock slowly turned into a sad frown as she moved across the room, not saying a word other than the “what?” she had muttered before. This place was so horrible –

Moving to her dresser, Kairi pulled open the doors in hope of perhaps finding another flashlight. What she found instead was something much better (in her opinion, anyway) and much more useful!

“Oh!” she exclaimed happily as she pulled the pink dress out of the wardrobe, a grin crossing her lips. It had been such a long time since she had seen the pink dress she usually wore, and to see it now just randomly sitting inside the large wardrobe was a pleasant surprise! Before she could really even think, she slowly began to change into the outfit, pausing once she was done to look down.

She looked like herself again! (Minus the bandages, anyway)

Pumping her fists, Kairi did a quick hair flip and let out a happy giggle.

Now all there was to do was wait for Axel.

After a few moments of waiting, Kairi decided that perhaps it would be better to wait in the hall. After all, nothing would happen ... and if something suspicious came, she'd just run back into the room.

Jade was met with more silence as he stepped out of his patient block all together, keeping his senses wide open in case anything was prowling about further downward. It looked as if he had beaten the rush, if but slightly, yet his destination was still far from his grasp.

The Colonel was looking forward to leaving the blocks, having been confined there for the past few days without much to do but wander to aimlessly with his comrades. Yes, a change of pace was in order, much to the point where he hardly felt guilty about it, if at all. He had taken it as part of his responsibility to find some means of escape, and hanging around the sidelines wasn't bound to do anyone any good.

Now that his eyes had fully adjusted to the darkness, Jade quickened his pace and strode forward into the next hallway.

River's feet were finally beginning to catch up with the rest of her. Movements didn't come in slow, painful motions, at least not so much, and there weren't any hot coals left to fear. Where they lay, sprinkled in the earth, they were just as easy to see as she was quick to step around them. Her tightrope was taut, and she wasn't falling anymore. Or yet. It was hard to tell in the middle of the storm when there were so many other things to see and not.

Lightning. 1...2...3...4... Thunder.

Under the watchful eye of the nurses, the firestarter stepped into the showers, among the first of the cattle to step up for cleaning. Efficiency was the key. A record time to let her sins be washed away before they pulled her out for taking too long.

At least her hair would be softer once all the tangles were out.

Burly orderlies and agile Calm Effect nurses flooded the cafeteria from the Courtyard while regular hall nurses filed in from the Sun Room and ushered out those not involved in the rebellion. It indeed seemed as if Landel was sending out all the cavalry, and an effective cavalry they were: The riot didn't continue for much longer after the alarm sounded, though it seemed strange just how quickly all of the mutinous patients fell, even the ones who hadn't been injected with anything.

The hall nurses were quick to escort their well-behaved charges back to their rooms, praising those who hadn't joined in and chiding those who muttered under their breath in response. There were some exceptions, of course: One nice young man had even defended one of the nurses from the violent patients! Now, wasn't that exemplary behavior? Dr. Landel would be so proud to hear about it...

Within half an hour, all of the so-called "loyal" patients had been safely deposited in their rooms, and it was then that the alarm finally stopped and the true difficulty of the situation was tackled. There certainly weren't enough rooms in solitary to accommodate such rampant disobedience, and yet measures would have to be taken to ensure proper consequences for each and every patient involved. After all, something like this couldn't be allowed to happen again!

Different options were considered. Perhaps they should make an example out of the girl who had sparked the riot, but then again, perhaps not. This certainly wasn't the first case of patients attacking nurses or their peers in a crowded area, but what had been different this time was the sheer support that the other patients had shown for her. Should the staff then make examples of all those who had tried to "protect" her from the well-meaning nurses? No, there were too many for that...

In the end, it was decided that the best immediate solution would be to treat the rebellious patients in the Medical Wing while they were unconscious and then move them back to their rooms to await punishment. To ensure the safety of both their roommates and the patients themselves, however, the staff decided to securely fasten their limbs to their beds and keep them heavily drugged. Such a sad sight they were to see, but... it was necessary.

Finally, when each and every patient had been escorted back to their respective rooms, the staff hurried off to an emergency meeting upstairs. Strangely, Head Nurse Lydia was the one taking care of the proceedings in the Head Doctor's stead. She calmly told them that he was preoccupied with more urgent matters, and as she began to speak to the crowd, the staff could only wonder what could possibly be more important than an unprecedented patient riot...

Hitsugaya woke with a start.

His entire body ached, but the pain was nowhere near as bad as it had been the night before. His injuries had been tended two with clean gauze and bandages, and he found every movement wasn't agony. He wasn't in the best of shape, but thanks to the miracle of landel's strange time distortion, he had mostly recovered from the vile poison without having to waste anyone else's talents.

And in his hand, still...there was the key.

He dressed quickly, sliding the key onto the key ring from his desk drawer and stuck it into his pocket. Whether the key stood to gain them anything or not, it stood as a vital reminder that they could succeed in this place. There was hope, as insignificant as it often seemed. They could beat this place.

That small shred of hope made getting up worth it.

The nurse who escorted him to breakfast was cheerful, and commented idly about how wonderful it was to see young Tommy Winters up and about again after his unfortunate run-in with a bad case of food poisoning. He smirked slightly, knowing that any lies the institute forced into their heads were only that: lies. He wouldn't buy it for a second. And on top of that, the concept of muffins sounded almost appetizing. While he still preferred his authentic Japanese cuisine, the food here was slowly becoming more and more bearable. He would have preferred a warm bowl of sweet nattou over rice over the mufffins, but they would do. The plain yogurt and fruit, on the other hand, was excellent. He piled his plate high with fruit as usual, and got several small bowls of yogurt as well.

Finding the most convenient table to the end of the food line, he took a seat and scanned for the new arrivals. New arrivals meant people who would be lost and confused. Renji did a good job of making a bulliten post last time...he should recommend abarai-fukutaicho do the same again this time.

"O-oi!" Sousuke hissed, following Miku into the darkness. He looked over his shoulder and gesturing to Mousse to follow. Walking blindly into an unlit room when there was 'something' there that Miku was trying to follow was right up there with leaving his apartment without his Glock in his jacket--it just didn't feel right.

"Hinasaki-san," The sergeant caught up to the girl and put a protective hand on the center of her back. "I respect your desire to follow your instincts, but entering a dark room unarmed is reckless! We should leave immediately."

His senses were open all the way, trying to sense anything that would be a threat. Something didn't feel right... his skin was prickling and his throat was suddenly blocked. Something was in here...

"We need to leave. Now."

Miku kept her footsteps hushed as she followed the growing buzz in the back of her head. Here it was, just behind this door with it's rusted lock. Miku tried it, hoping that maybe her meager strength would help her, but to no avail. She kept one eye over her shoulder, her ears opened for the click of claws or worse.

Nothing, just the stupid sound of the lock not moving.

"Come on, come on, please...!" she whispered fiercely at it. "Please let me in..!"

Miku hurried up the stairwell, pausing on the landing only once to catch her breath. She'd been running too quickly, it was taking a toll on her shoulder. Still, the heavy sense that she was only a wall or two away from her target ghost kept her moving.

She had to keep moving.

Hurrying up the second flight, Miku pushed the door open quietly and looked for a monster. So far, so good.
