After a pretty uneventful dinner Tyki gratefully inhaled from his cigarette. Oh, how he had missed his nicotine, and it'd be a cold day in hell if he'd ever have to go without them again. The Noah took a moment to enjoy his smoke properly before finally stepping out into the still-deserted hallway.

Landels was another distance away from a smoke-free nut house.

Now that he had everything he had been looking for, Tyki found himself wondering what to do for tonight. He could track down that Shinigami person, but the odds of randomly running into this 'Hinamori Momo' were pretty slim. Searching the building for someone who he wouldn't even recognize wasn't the way he liked doing things, anyway. He'd have to find something else to do for tonight.

He guessed he'd think of something entertaining along the way.

Even though Archer didn't really feel energetic tonight, he might as well make this quick. There was no sense in wasting the nightshift's time.

The cool breeze of the night greeted him as he stepped outside. For now, he needed some melee weapons. Having his bow was nice, but he didn't want to get caught without a propper weapon if it came to short ranged combat.

The intercom's jingle rang out and the somewhat uninhibited movement that was going on between the main activity rooms halted as the Head Doctor made one of his usual announcements.

"Good evening everyone, and I'm very pleased to see so many of you in such high spirits after meeting with your loved ones! However, like with all good things, it can't last forever, so I ask now for nurses to escort our patients in the waiting rooms and in the main areas back to their rooms, where they will be treated with a special Sunday... steak! That's right: today, we'll be serving juicy, delicious steak with fries and cooked vegetables on the side – simple enough for everyone to like and good enough for everyone to thoroughly enjoy! (Our patients with specialized diets will receive their alternate meals, of course.) Our usual beverages are available, and for dessert, we'll be serving warm slices of apple pie.

"After all, patients, t's always wonderful to see all of you cooperating with the staff even when given so much freedom, so I'd like to personally thank and congratulate all of you for helping us, your family, and more importantly, yourselves. Hopefully, we can help you to a speedy recovery so that you can see your loved ones more often, but first... dinner! I hope to speak with you all again soon."

The intercom clicked off.

The announcement screeched on and off twice, once for the Doctor and once for Martin Landel. He didn't seem to give the patients any clues tonight though, other than his usual taunting and hints that he was omnipotent. He wasn't though. The Radio People had power as well and it didn't sit well with Okita how no one was actually sharing any with the rats in the maze. Guy was getting ready to go, so Okita did the same. He shed his Institute clothing and dressed himself in his yukata, still wincing slightly as he pulled the obi tight around him. He hid a few pens in his sleeve nonetheless.

Guy was not fortunate enough to receive his old clothes, but perhaps that wouldn't put him at too much of a tactical disadvantage. Western clothing still didn't sit right on Okita. When he fought, it pulled at his knees and slowed him down. He preferred the openness of his yukata or even the wide legs of his hakama over pants and slacks. Even the t-shirts were tight. Once he was dressed, he looked over in time to see Guy leaving with a meat cleaver instead of his old weapon. Good to see that his roommate was upgrading. "Yes, I'll see you tomorrow."

It was a promise, a thin one, but a promise nonetheless. They would meet each other again and they'd have another dinner together. Okita would survive through the night and the day. Now he had to. Waving to Guy, Okita started toward the bed when he suddenly felt his chest constrict and he faltered, coughing. It wasn't hard, more like something got caught in his throat, but the action didn't exactly help his broken ribs and the wound in his side. Gritting his teeth through the pain, he sat down on the bed and tried to ride it out so Guy wouldn't see.

The patient corridor widened out as it hit the Main Hall. Patients were already moving about, his senses told him, but he was unable to identify who they were. Qui-Gon moved on in the darkness.

Unlike the week before, the buses pulled in to the front of the Institute before the sky became dark, and so the departure was a very organized situation rather than a chaotic one. Nurses and orderlies escorted patients off the buses, and just as the front doors to the Institute opened and the patients were taken back to their rooms, the intercom clicked on with its usual jingle to the sound of the Head Doctor's cheery voice.

"Hello, patients, and I hope you all enjoyed a delightful day at our neighboring town! I regret that last-minute duties prevented me from joining all of you on your trip, but I'm glad I can talk to you a bit now before you retire for the night!

"As far as dinner tonight, we have a wonderfully exotic meal of tasty, spicy lamb curry for you, served on a bed of steamed rice and with a side of seasoned vegetables and plain Indian flatbread. For desert, we'll be having sweet rice pudding, and we'll be offering our normal assortment of juices, milk, and water as drinks. As always, for vegetarians and for those of you with mild tastebuds, a large, fresh garden salad is always an option.

"And... I believe that's all! I hope you all enjoy dinner and that you're able to wind down from the excitement of today's excursion."

The intercom clicked off.

Rukia filed out of the bus with the other prisoners, shivering a little in the cool autumn air. She was a little irked that the nurses hadn't given her mittens on this trip. Forced to stuff her hands in to the pockets of her jeans, Rukia hunched her shoulders and wandered to the edge of the park before turning around to look for anyone she knew.

Nurses and orderlies were already milling about, supervising and watching the prisoners. Rukia's plan was to get a hold of something - anything - that she could use as a weapon when they returned to the Institute that night. It would be difficult with so many staff members around, but she was determined; the last thing she wanted was to be trapped on the buses again with no weapon.

Claude couldn't fight the sinking feeling in his stomach when he woke up. Nightshift was over, and they hadn't even made it into the basement. Man, how tough was that? Sometimes it seemed like the night could drag on and on, and when he actually needed the extra time, it went by too fast. It didn't make any sense.

Too bad he wouldn't have much to report to Ashton. But now the blond's curiosity was peaked, and he had to admit that he was pretty interested in finding out just what was under there. But first things first -- he needed a sword, because walking around there unprepared was probably one step short of suicide, really. The scars in his side were a stark reminder of what happened to people here who weren't ready to face the dangers.

Until that time, the Earthling had plenty of projects to keep him occupied. It really was too bad that they couldn't get anywhere, though. And when Ashton had finally let him borrow a sword, too...

The blond decided not to dwell on that for too long, especially once his nurse came to wake him up. She handed him the same set of clothes he'd worn for the last trip to Doyleton -- a dark, faded jacket, a blue, button-up shirt, some casual slacks, a brown paperboy cap, and a red scarf. He knew he'd have no problems staying warm today, and he didn't really look all that bad, but he kind of wished they'd given him a better pair of shoes than the over-sized sneakers that kind of flopped when he walked around.

As he exited his room, he caught sight of someone sleeping in the other bed, and while he'd never formally met his roommate before, Claude knew it wasn't Asch.

Once he'd boarded the bus, the blond didn't waste much time in finding a seat. There weren't many people here yet, so he opened up his sack and took a bite of his muffin. It was kind of sad how small the portions were for today's breakfast, but he was an adult, so he wouldn't complain about it. At least Landel bothered to feed them at all.

((For Sync, I believe?))

Both nightshift and his Noah kicked in after what seemed like forever. Tyki slicked his hair back and grabbed his things before stepping into the hallway. It seemed he was pretty early considering no one was around just yet, but that would mean no one would beat him to the kitchen, right?

With a glance on the map he had decided to try going via the courtyard. Going through all the hallways seemed like a detour, and an incredibly boring detour at that. And unless whoever had made the map completely sucked at drawing like Allen, going outside seemed much shorter.

And the sooner he could smoke, the better.

It wasn't long before Albel reached the next hallway. One that was so familiar that he didn't even have to see where he was going. But it'd be foolish to let his guard down, even when he was still walking around in a patient block hallway.

But it seemed to be pretty empty, so the warrior quickly moved to the door leading to the next hallway.

A hand upon the left wall, Momo paused and looked around. Empty. No monsters, so it was clear. She hoped the colonel wasn't going to be too angry at her for not getting the key back to him at breakfast. She didn't have the heart to tell him it was because she'd simply refused to leave her room that morning after having her own silent fit about the frustrating results of the previous night.

It would be kind of embarassing.

The intercom came on, and as it did, it seemed to carry a little more interference than usual for a daytime announcement, a little more static. While the patients might have thought for a moment that once again the elusive woman on the radio had hacked into the Head Doctor's system, the man himself soon proved that theory faulty as he laughed over the broadcast.

"Hello, hello, everyone, and I'm sorry for the bad quality of this broadcast; we've been having some technical difficulties lately, you see, and we wanted to make sure everything was fixed by tomo...."

His voice crackled out into inaudibility for a moment before fading back in.

"Yes, hopefully that will be done soon. In any case, now's the time that you all head back to your rooms to enjoy a delicious meal... seasoned salmon! Yes, we have filets of very tasty, very juicy salmon seasoned with herbs and garlic; on the side, we have mashed potatoes, peas, and to drink, our usual assortment of beverages. For dinner, you'll all be enjoying vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce."

The intercom's broadcast crackled again. The Head Doctor laughed, seemingly a little nervously.

"Ah, yes, perhaps we'll be able to finish the repairing tomorrow, when all of you are away at... Doyleton! Yes, yes, you're all in for a fun and exciting day, a day whose activities will be new for some and a welcome familiarity to others. You'll be under strict supervision, of course, but... well, I suppose you'll find out all about the circumstances tomorrow, before you set off, mm? Yes! In any case... I hope you all enjoy dinner!"

The intercom clicked off again as the nurses began ushering patients back to their quarters.

Artemis Fowl was, yet again, exceedingly displeased to be naked.

As much as Haku insisted that since he had experienced public bathing before, this time would be easier, the feeling was not mutual. Artemis' body was his own personal business, as far as he was concerned, and no one else's. His only comfort was the fact that he was not hideously tattooed anymore with various and sundry insults branding him a moron.

Still, that did not stop him from taking a towel into the shower area once again, Nurse Hedgerow grudgingly allowing it. She could see no other way of getting the boy to bathe. He was as stubborn as ten teenage boys. And after that lecture on psychological torture through means of public humiliation...

The boy let the water run over his head, the towel clutched firmly around his body. And he thought. July. How was it July when it had been fall just a week previous? It was impossible, logically speaking. But what part of this place fit in with any sort of logic Artemis had ever encountered? No, if he didn't let go of the fact that things would be as insane as people claimed he was, he would lose his mind.

His fingers brushed the burn mark Caleb had given him for what seemed the fortieth time. ...He had to get himself together, or this would only be a small taste of what awaited him in the hallways.

The whole not-bursting-into-flame thing was still a perk Angel could get used to. He ended up sitting just beneath a tree by a patch of sunlight, hoping maybe he'd go undisturbed just this once. The courtyard was more relaxing during the day, with its distinct lack of hyenas.

Journal on his lap, he plucked a blade of grass between his fingers. It was nice. He didn't think he'd ever just sat on the grass for no apparent reason before. Except for the couple of dates he'd ended up having with Buffy in the cemetery, but those always got interrupted by the undead.

The fact that he sort of counted those dates, anyway, probably said a lot.

Omi dropped down from the wall, landing in a crouch. He flattened himself back against the wall as he waited for Yohji to join him, letting his eyes adjust to the dim moonlight. Better momentarily blinded than making himself an easy target with the flashlight, though.

Outside the walls was definitely no paradise, even compared to inside. Then again, Omi would have been happier all around if he'd jumped the walls to find himself miraculously back in the middle of Tokyo, so it was perhaps unsurprising that he was less than pleased with his new surroundings.

[Coming from here.]

The door was unlocked, much to his relief, and Tyler wasted no time in slipping outside, keeping his flashlight turned off for now. He didn't want to attract the attention of anything, especially since he was probably alone out here until Reid showed up.

Moving as quietly as he could, he slid the door closed behind him and stepped to the side, between the two doors that led back inside once more, and leaned back against the wall to settle in and wait for the blond to join him.

Tyler turned into the wider corridor, pausing to take a quick glance at his map, making sure he could get to where he needed to go from where he was. Seeing there was a door at the end of this hall, he turned left, figuring that was the quickest route to outside and where he was to meet Reid.

It didn't look like many patients were out and about yet, which suited Sai's purposes just fine. The less bodies there were to maneuver around, the more quickly he could reach his target destination. He supposed making any haste at all was unnecessary, as it was doubtful Usopp would be going anywhere, but it was never a good idea to stick about in one hall for very long anyway if it could be helped.

The beginning of nightshift, mmm? What a strange and funny thing had happened. It wasn't like normal Landel's nights by any stroke of the imagination; indeed, the radios and the intercom were playing this time. How fancy! It was like three voices talking at once, once from the wall and twice from the two radios in Peony's and Siegfried's room.

The voices were lighter, brighter, as if many years had stood to pass between the first recording and Dr. Landel's subsequent cursing and damning what had happened. Peony could tell as much. And he wondered if, perhaps, there had been such a change between his and Jade's voices from so long ago and their voices now.

Funny how this place made him think about himself sometimes.

Yes, it was a rare and introspective moment for the emperor, and he was rather glad it was dark. Not for long, though; his flashlight flicked on in the darkness, and the tube of light passed over Siegfried for a moment before the emperor grabbed the few scalpels he'd harvested the other day. And - well, hell, why not. The radio, too. Which meant he'd need his coat. For the pockets.

"Bye," he said abruptly, excusing himself into the hallway.

Now all there was was to wait for Gailardia. He was actually quite curious on what the young man would say about such a strange thing. So he leaned against the hallway wall outside their rooms, waiting. They would get going quite quickly tonight! It would be glorious.

"Good evening, patients and staff!" the Head Doctor said just as the intercom's usual jingle ended. Strangely, he seemed even more tense now than he had been throughout the day, though as he continued to speak, he seemed to get back into the usual swing of things. "I hope you all had very productive outdoor activities today and helpful therapy sessions to boot. Now, however, we must all begin to retire, and as always, our nurses will be bringing your dinner to your rooms shortly after your being escorted there. Tonight's meal includes a generous portion of delicious spaghetti with tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese (and meatballs if you choose), along with sides of hot garlic bread and fresh Caesar salad. For dessert, we will be serving slices of moist chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream."

The Head Doctor paused, and there was the sound of rustling and then muffled voices, as if the doctor had put his hand over the microphone and was clarifying something with someone--a female voice, probably Lydia. He took his hand off the mic and cleared his throat.

"Yes, that's all for now. I hope you all enjoy dinner, and remember, some of you tonight will be lucky enough to participate in our CM-US Experimental Therapy Trials, so look forward to that after the meal. Goodbye for now!"

The intercom clicked off.
