Night 41: Recreational Field
[From here]
Just as in the hallways inside the building, the field looked completely deserted. von Karma saw not a single person nor creature upon it. Far to the northwest was his destination: an old supply shed that contained items that he would find marginally useful to defend himself -- at least until he could acquire something better. As much as he dreaded making that trek once again to that filthy, dusty old structure, he headed for it, keeping under the cover of the shadows of the main building. As he did so, he warily looked around for signs of potential danger, gripping his flashlight tightly in his hand in case of a sudden attack.

He remembered being dragged away from his room and injected with needles, and HK-47 telling him to "have fun". Once they had taken him upstairs, everything went fuzzy and he barely registered anything after that. The only thing he knew was that when he was coherent again, he was back in his real body and had orders to guard the Recreational Field. Lockdown had happily obliged.
A lone human wandered onto the field, oblivious to his presence. His stealth mode had done the job perfectly. Time to move in and do what he had been ordered.
The muscle car revved his engine loudly, came out of stealth mode, turned on his red high-beams, and quickly drove towards the human with the intent to hit him. He wasn't going fast enough to kill the human, but it would certainly cause the man a great deal of pain.

He became only vaguely aware of a gradual roaring sound in his mind, quite similar to that which he had experienced during his... disoriented state during that particular incident fifteen years ago. Thus, he almost noticed too late when an even louder noise suddenly snapped him into full consciousness. At the same time, four bright red beams illuminated the darkness of the field, and he quickly turned his head towards their source, fearing that he had tripped a security alarm.
...A car?! What was such a sinister-looking car doing in the middle of the field? Where had it come from? And... it was speeding directly towards him!
von Karma had little time to react. His trek to the activities shed now abandoned, his immediate goal was to retreat for a much safer area. Without delay, he bolted towards the west door leading back into the building, hoping that he was close enough to avoid this literal speed demon.

Tenzen opened the door at the end of the hallway, and quickly discovered he had indeed reached an outside area. His eyes looked over the field, noticing the strange structures with the netting and the small shack a little further up ahead. Like the courtyard, this area was also surrounded by walls. Most likely to prevent anyone from escaping, but a wall wouldn't stop one of the ten chosen Iga.
The ninja decided that the little shack might be worth paying a visit too before trying to climb the walls. He headed into it's direction, all the while keeping watch of his surroundings. Even if he remained skeptical about the nonsense he had heard, the ninja was no idiot. Monsters or not, it'd be foolish to let his guard down in such an alien place.
And he couldn't help but think this had been incredibly easy thus far...

Lockdown thought about trying to run him down like he had the last man, but then decided to shake things up a little. Doing the same thing over and over would get repetitive.
The muscle car revved his engine loudly, came out of stealth mode, and flashed his red high-beams. He quickly drove towards the dark-haired man, slamming on his brakes right before hitting him, hoping to get a good scare out of him.
Lockdown revved his engine threateningly again, and growled, "I'm only gonna say this once, so listen up. Go back to your cell and I won't grind you into pulp." The threat was half-empty, of course, since he was under strict orders not to kill. Didn't mean he couldn't scare them, though.

Yuuhi pushed open the door and slipped outside, glancing around the field. It seemed empty, but one never knew when those birds might come down and attack. It was best to stay near the building and be as unobtrusive as possible. He debated turning off his light, but left it on, just in case.
With any luck, Ururu and her friends would be out here soon and he could leave her to them. She'd probably be safer there anyway.

He turned off the flashlight, hoping he hadn't been spotted already. He couldn't leave until Ururu or her friends showed up.
When the car transformed into a big robot though, it looked like it might be a lot more troublesome. Since Yuuhi wasn't trying to cross the field or pass it by, maybe the big metal robot wouldn't come after him? He could always hope.

At this point, Sora wasn't too surprised to see that the field was completely empty. It hadn't looked like many patients had been coming this direction, though the fact that he was out here on his own was still pretty eerie.
He strained his ears, trying to detect the sound of any monsters that might be moving around beyond his field of vision, but there was nothing.
Allen also wasn't here yet, obviously. Sora really hoped that the boy would show up. Even if Allen was mad at him, Sora still wanted the chance to say he was sorry and try to explain himself.
Still, all he could do was wait, and so Sora leaned himself against the side of the building, taking as much strain off of his wounds as he could.

Though his concern about his friend was completely forgotten when he heard the sound of a car and turned to see just that racing toward two of the patients. "Watch out!" he yelled without thinking, taking a step toward them. Luckily, the two managed to dodge, but then the car transformed into something else entirely.
Sora might have been more shocked to see such a large robot if he hadn't gone up against similar enemies in the past. This robot didn't really match up to the Ice Titan, for instance. Still, the fact that something like this was here was pretty surprising...
He wasn't sure if he should try to help the two patients who were being terrorized, although it looked like they were making the decision to retreat. That might be the best idea, since Sora didn't really know how he and Allen were going to get past the robot -- if Allen ever showed up, that is.

After much wandering through the unlit corridors with absolutely nothing to kill, they were finally outside. Which he usually hated in his meatbag state, (the germs!) now...
The first thing he noticed was the havoc that had been caused to the grass. Marks that matched those of a four-wheeled vehicle. He had guessed right! Unfortunately, he couldn't see anything, even in infrared. He ventured a little out onto the field itself, scanning the immediate area. There might be heat trails that he could detect, if nothing else...

She brought her hand up to her katana, ready to draw the blade from across her back if necessary. She did not move beyond the immediate area surrounding the doorway. "What do you see?"

The girl paused at the doorway, eyes scanning the area. Good thing she did, too, because there was a--
...Fuck. Was that a fucking car? Seriously? Talking? Man, someone watched too many movies.
Well, this was ridiculous. First thing tomorrow, Senna would find a different route to get to that town--shorter, and without an enemy almost every night. By the greenhouse, there was.... But that was for another time. She looked back, motioned silently to move around the border of the field, and started off.

Momo entered the rec field to find it empty. She paused and narrowed her eyes, scanning the area for anything. It was quite odd for it to be so empty. Seeing nothing, her sightless left eye keeping her from picking up the tore up ground, she started across to the wall.
Something felt off. She didn't know what it was, but her instincts were telling her to be on guard. She checked to make sure her sword was clear in its sheath. Just to be safe.

This time he decided to try something a little different. This time he transformed without coming out of stealth mode. The sounds of gears turning and metal shifting was sure to give his current position away, but oh well, perhaps it would scare the human a little.
Lockdown crept along as silently as he could, until he was almost right beside the human. He waited to see what she would do next before he made his move.

There were no giant birds out tonight that he saw. No fog, either. What he did see was a mechanized creature of sorts fighting a couple others. It was hard to distinguish who they were in the dark.
He wanted to stop and help them, but with his injuries he might be more of a hindrance than anything. If he could use his wings... but no. From what his roommate said about the birds targeting virgins, he could only assume that an angelic presence was what had drawn them out that night.
His best option was to leave the area - head for the other door as he'd originally intended.

Well, Keman thought as he stepped out onto the field, at least there weren't any birds in sight. There was, however, a giant metal...thing fighting some other patients. The dragon froze, shooting Valyn a slightly panicked look. Birds were one thing. They were organic. They bled and died. Metal did neither. He had no idea how to deal with metal.
"How...do you want to handle this?"
Maybe the metal monster would be too absorbed in his fight with the other patients to notice a couple more.

He wasn't prepared for a giant sentient construct of metal to bar their way.
"I...can't fight something made of metal," he admitted, wetting his lips in a clear display of fear. Monsters and creatures were one thing. He could use magic and his knife on them. Metal...his knife wouldn't harm it, and he couldn't use magic on it. Not unless he wanted to set himself on fire or worse.
He wasn't even sure it was safe to use magic in the proximity of the thing!

Hitsugaya's eyes scanned the field for his friend, but he couldn't find her. Had he made a mistake? No, that couldn't be. He was certain that he felt Hinamori's reiatsu. While he had considered searching for her spirit thread, Hitsugaya's weakened, spiritual sense picked up a faint trail of reiatsu to the north. Because it was rapidly disappearing, like tracks in the desert sand, Hitsugaya suspected that Hinamori had used Kido. Since he couldn't see Hinamori, did that mean she was beyond the wall? Hitsugaya stealthily made his way over to check, the cool grass quietly squelching beneath his feet. If Hinamori had somehow scaled the wall then so could he.

Lockdown sped towards the white-haired human, his exhaust pipes producing smoke and his red high-beams washing the field and human in a wash of red light.
Hopefully this one wouldn't be fast enough to dodge him or otherwise get any ideas about trying to fight him. He also really hoped that this human had no powers, like the last one.

Keeping close to the wall, within the shadow of the building, Leon scanned the field for danger. It seemed awfully quiet, which could mean either good or bad. Out in the open air it was difficult to smell blood left from past fights but there was a definite sharpness in the air, like a storm had just passed. Lightning? If they were facing the electrical-based demon Leon had seen described on the board... this was going to suck. He was the only one properly armed, and he didn't trust one of his companions at all. "Careful. I think something might be out here."

He could see a shed against the far wall; their goal? Hopefully... it wasn't too far, but distance didn't matter much when something more powerful than you were was in the way.
...this reminded him way too much of when he met Dymlos.

Mori pushed the door open and slipped out into the field. At first he didn't see anything as his eyes adjusted to the moonlight, and he was about to motion the others forward. At the last second, however, he saw it. Or...yeah, an it? Definitely. It was a car.
Where in the world did someone get a car?
And more importantly: did the car just talk?!
...that was, well. If it wasn't saying it would crush someone, that would be kind of cool. Stopping in front of the door, Mori eased it open with the end of the staff - just wide enough to let everyone behind him see what was going on. If Hikaru or Mitsukuni said to press on, then he'd go and he'd protect them - injured or no. But if either of them said it was too dangerous and they needed to leave, he'd obey.

But when Honey looked out onto the field, all he saw was a car and some other patients retreating back into the building. He'd expected something a little more amazing. Like a T-Rex or space aliens. But a car could be good. Well, if not for that big fence. He was pretty sure the car wouldn't make it through that, even if it was a souped up muscle car. With spikes. Lots of spikes. If someone was driving it, that could be... bad. Depending on who's side they were on.
"Uwaaa," Honey cooed, taking only one or two steps outside.

Falis stepped out into the fresh air and leaned back against the wall in between the two doors. A quick glance around told her that guy who's ass she was going to kick hadn't made it yet. What she did see was an interesting sight. Keeping still, the hunter watched the scene being played out before her.
At least she had some fucking entertainment while she waited for that pansy ass to show up. Maybe he got too fucking scared and decided to hide under his blankets.

He was outside, finally, though it didn't appear to be the front of the Institute. Didn't matter. There was a wall, and Rorschach spent more time entering over walls than he did through doors. Unlocked doors, anyway.
He spotted the small group at the door he'd just come through (a kid and some teenagers; didn't look like trouble), and a girl skulking about in the shadows. He didn't mind her either.
The one odd thing at the field was the presence of a car. He hadn't arrived in time to see it in action, and so wasn't sure what to make of it. It looked strange, nothing like any car he'd ever seen, but it didn't look particularly threatening. There wasn't even a driver, as far as he could see. Still, he tread carefully around it, heading toward one side of the wall.

Lockdown quickly sped towards this human who had invaded his territory. He didn't seem to be too impressed with the muscle car. That was okay; Lockdown would show him something to worry about soon enough.
The muscle car stopped a little ways away from the man, preparing to ram him if it came to that. Lockdown growled threateningly, "If you want to keep all your limbs, I suggest you go right back the way you came."
