Night 68: Main Hallway, 2-West
[From here.]
Zero wasted no time ascending the stairs and getting out into the next hallway. Here, he could hear and see nothing moving or living. So he was probably the first prisoner to make it up here...just as he'd hoped. Now he could make it to an obscure part of this floor and no one would hopefully come across him.
... ... Though, problem. He had a (flexible, not permanent) idea of where to go, yes...but would he be able to find his way, without any light to assist him?
His eyes were finally adjusted somewhat to the darkness, but it wasn't enough. From here, he couldn't see where the connecting hallways were, where any doors were...and he had little experience with this area, so it wasn't like the prisoner block where he knew from instinct practically where to go. How was he supposed to figure this out? Guessing?
He couldn't just stand here, in any case. If other prisoners were going to come up here, then Zero could bet they wouldn't take much longer to do it. He had to get moving, now.
And so Zero walked forward quickly, immediately coming across a second hallway right in front of him. It probably wasn't the one he'd planned to enter - that one had been the farthest on the left of his map, the farthest one from the center main hallway - but he didn't care too much anymore. If it was still a place he could go to get away from the other prisoners, then he was going to go there... It wasn't like the other hallway had been the only option for him, anyway.

Under the circumstances, getting to the top of the stairs was about as quick as could be expected. Kyousuke stopped here, both to investigate that state of the halls, and to catch himself a quick break. Even if he'd said no, he didn't want to push himself too hard, or else he'd end up stuck like this for a lot longer.
They were going to be there soon, it looked it... He'd have to make sure he was mentally prepared for come what may, although to tell the truth, he already didn't expect much. It would be too much to get his hopes up over something like this.

And there. They had made it to the second floor. It had been a surprisingly painless (relatively) journey, and for that he was thankful: the last time he'd come here, as with most times Kratos bothered to think about the last time he'd come to a certain location, something traumatizing had occurred. In the second floor's case, it had been his pseudo-death, and that, unfortunately, was still haunting him every so often. In fact, just thinking about it brought the urge to look around for that specter lurking in the corner of his eye, an urge he firmly resisted.
"Not much further now," Kratos said, nodding in the direction of the appropriate hallway.

Another hallway, another empty and frustrating sight. His frustration bubbled in its belly, turning into a terrible scream that echoed off the bare linoleum floors. Against the nearest wall, the monstrous creature slammed its fist into the brittle paint and concrete. It crumbled like tissue paper under its heavy strength, bits of it falling to the floor like shifting dust. It may have had little in the way of intelligence, but it did know enough that if it kept going, it would find something eventually.
Its only option was yet another door across from him. The door frame dented from impact as it hurled itself at the steel door.

Scar's assumption seemed to have been right. This hall was exactly like the main hallway on the first floor. Which meant...
The Ishbalan bolted off toward the end of the hall, where he knew there would be stairs. He needed to get back to everyone else, and had no idea how long he had been out.

Just as he'd suspected, the hallway was empty. If there had been anyone here, then they were long gone by now. Zero was lucky on that end.
But he was unlucky in another; it didn't take him long to recognize that his injured right leg was going to be more of a problem than he'd originally thought. It wasn't just the pain, or his having to walk with a limp, or even the fact that his blood was probably going to attract more unwanted 'friends' of Landel's... He was also unaccustomed to the effects of blood loss. By the time he'd made it to the major hallway and had turned right to head for his original destination for this evening, he suddenly found himself feeling a little dizzy. Being so uninformed about human bodies, however, he wondered instead if it was because he'd pushed his body too hard, or because he was feeling so cold...
He muttered a curse about his frail human body as he forced himself onward, not wanting to waste any time in such a dangerous location.
