To this very moment, Xemnas' investigation of the building had gone quite well, without even the slightest interruption or delay. Luck appeared to be on his side for tonight, yet how long would it last?

The first thing he noticed when he opened the - surprisingly unlocked - door was the chill coming from the area laying beyond. He carefully took a step into the new room, closing the door quietly behind him as he swept the beam of light over the room, his gaze taking in the new surroundings.

On the far side stood a couple of tables, on these were a couple of sheets, but for now the Superior wasn't interested in them. Large units were lined up on the wall, reaching from floor to ceiling. These units were large enough to contain a body, a corpse, and considering the temperature of this room it seemed highly possible that such was the purpose of these units.

'Where the dead wait.'

The Nobody had stumbled upon the morgue by mere coincidence, but whether it was a fortunate one had yet to be proved. Grasping the knife tighter into his hand, he wondered....

Was this the very location the man of the radio had meant?

The laughing started from just a small chuckle, the static the only thing interrupting otherwise unquestionable mirth.

"Do you really believe you scare me, Alec? Do you?" A chair creaked as it swung forward, and the Head Doctor guffawed. "You always were the weaker of the two of us! Weak in body, weak in mind, weak in conviction and confidence. And now you blame me for your mistakes. Silly, stupid doctor... Always thinking you have power and morality that doesn't exist in this world, not after all we've seen."

He paused, flipping through papers as he normally did during the day.

"Oh my, is it time to call out the new patients already? Well, then, come forth! Group 2 is now a part of our wonderful Landel's purgatory--and I do say purgatory because I am stuck here too, stuck to deal with you ingrates day after day, night after night. When do I sleep? Who the hell knows."

He sighed, tsk-tsking in the absence of words.

"In any case, Alec, I'm amazed at your hypocrisy. Me? A charlatan? This coming from the self-proclaimed savior who spews no more than riddles as easily and happily as our friend downstairs. Oh, my, did I just give some cryptic clue whose origin is as hard to decipher as the words themselves? I thought that was your job.

"In any case, I'm done putting up with your goading tonight. Try me when I'm in a worse mood, Doyle. Then maybe you'll get a rise out of the 'monster' you freely insult but have no courage to face."

The intercom clicked off with a hiss and a crackle.

Xemnas found himself in yet another hallway, still quite fortunate he hadn't ran into any carnivorous creatures thus far. After passing a few locked doors, he eventually reached the end of the hall as he was greeted by the sight of yet another door.

His hand reached out to the doorknob, attempting to open it only to discover the door was locked. But it appeared the lock was weak, weak enough to be broken by the appropriate amount of force at least. However, such actions would certainly produce the necessary amount of noise, possibly attracting the various abominations lurking within the darkness. Yet, he supposed it was a risk he'd needed to take if he wanted to discover what lay hidden beyond this door. A lock pick suddenly seemed a necessary item, at least it would be a more subtle and especially more silent method.

Not having much choice at this very moment, the Nobody continuously slammed his shoulder into the door. Eventually, the lock gave in as the door slammed open, the amount of noise most likely enough to alert anything that waited in the area beyond.

Which proved to be another hallway.

Xemnas briefly paused as he reached the staircase, his orange eyes slightly narrowing as he gazed upwards, trying to determine whether something above waited, or not.

The Darkness didn't provide him the slightest moving shadow, nor any sounds broke the everlasting silence. For now, both the stairs and the immediate area around it were void of anything remotely sentient.

With that, the Nobody silently climbed the stairs.
