Nightshift 37: Main Hallway, 1-West

[From here]

As she entered the hallway, Ophelia stopped for a moment to quickly fold up Kio's maps and stuff them into one of her pockets. She had been hoping to take a peek at them at various intervals during the night, but in this dim light, there was no chance of being able to see them. For now, she would have to travel by memory of where she had been taken during the day.

At least this time the choice of where to go was easy. On one side she could just barely see the hallway ending, and on the other it continued for a ways. The path that continued would surely lead to the Sun Room and the areas around it. She started running again with a grin spreading on her face, emboldened by the long, seemingly unobstructed length of the hall. Perhaps she would find her first challenge of the night soon.

Clark winced at the bandage. It looked pretty big...

"Shouldn't we try to help them if people are getting attacked?" Clark asked. It just popped out unintended, even though he knew it was important to find a phone and get a call out of Landels. But it didn't sit well - never did - to just leave people to get hurt, especially if you had the means to save them. Clark wasn't so sure if he had the means anymore but that didn't mean he didn't think it was wrong. Clark's friendly smile had turned down into a worried frown, hands unconsciously on his hips.

Kvothe glanced back, obviously torn. "And do what? Nothing we did worked, and last night Tony and I were the ones that needed rescued." He sighed. "And I don't even have a real weapon. I want to help them too, but I don't know what we can really do."

Clark bit his lip, frowning. He had a point. Clark didn't like it, but he had a point: neither of them had weapons (or, at least, reliable and safe ones) and he'd learned the hard way he was no good on his own when he'd tried to protect Claire that time and ended up nearly getting her killed too. Clark heaved a reluctant sigh.

"Yeah...I guess you're right," he said grudgingly. He turned toward the center of the main hall, still too dark to even see that far. The shadows pressed in and his flashlight seemed really small even at full-strength. "The doctor offices are that way, I'm pretty sure."

"If we can get a message out, we'll be able to help a lot more people than we would getting sliced up by some creature." He turned his light in the same direction, but even combined it didn't seem to do much. "Lead the way then, since you have a better idea of where they're going. I'll keep an eye out behind us."

[To href="http://community.livejournal.com/damned/517686.html?thread=42484022#t42484022">here. Could you link us from the center to the west? It's totally cool with me to mode Clark is still leading.
