DAY 37: MEN'S SHOWERS (4th Shift)

There had been an awkward air left between him and Tyki after their conversation. Yuuri knew he wasn't the best at explaining much of anything, and for the tenth time he wondered why Murata wasn't here to answer the difficult questions for him. Everyone had been herded out of the cafeteria after that, and Yuuri had simply followed along in confusion as he headed towards the showers.

Yuuri still hadn't seen Wolfram yet and the young Maou was wondering if the blonde Mazoku was alright. Stretching his head up higher, Yuuri attempted to look over the heads of the other patients around him in an attempt to catch sight of Wolfram. Unfortunately, though, he was unsuccessful.

"Where are you, Wolfram?" He muttered to himself while stepping under the shower's spray. Maybe a shower would help clear his mind.

[Waiting for Wolfram]

Hanatarou couldn't help but feel slightly more cheerful after his conversation with Demyx. After all, it wasn't often that someone told him that they liked him. Clearly the other was just being nice about some of the stuff he'd said, but that was okay. Besides, he was going to be in a band now.

...well, if he could get Hitsugaya-taichou's permission. Or if they confined band-ly activities to the day hours, when it didn't really seem to matter how he spent his time. That would probably be okay, and wouldn't potentially invoke the wrath of the grouchy captain. Or at least his glare, which was bad enough.

His good mood faded just a little, though, when he realized the meaning of the mention of "showers." He froze in place, staring wide-eyed in something approaching horror at the shower room until finally forced to undress and enter. It had already been proven to him earlier today that his bully magnet was still fully operational, and something like this was just asking for trouble.

The shinigami took what was probably the fastest shower ever known, then re-dressed and fled as quickly as he possibly could, not even bothering to completely dry his hair.

Wolfram was actually grateful for the shower, despite the distaste in the idea of so many others being around that could possibly see. But then he spotted a familiar dark head of hair, and his anxieties over his lunch meeting were gone instantly. He had something more important to worry about.

Like make sure that Yuuri wasn't looking at anyone besides him while they were in the shower.

Footsteps almost silent, he made his way closer, until his breath was almost in Yuuri's ear. "Did you miss me?"

[Danny? (and maybe Hikaru? <3)]

Showers. Kaoru looked at himself. Skinny and....well, healing, at least. Bite marks all down his arm and sides. Still, he wasn't going to let it get him down. If he looked confident, he'd feel confident and if he was exuding all this confidence....maybe nobody would notice the things he was worried about? Except Hikaru but...he had his own injuries.

Kaoru put on a happy face and strode into the showers, hoping to either find a quiet spot or somebody to bug.

Haha, oh man. There was Wolfram. Looking pretty....well...those eyes....that boy. Was that Yuuri, or was Wolfy just really into the plan to make this so-called demon King jealous?

[identity profile] totallytheseme.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
"So is that the lucky husband-to-be or is your roommate a player?" Hikaru asked jovially, nodding at the place where Wolfram and another boy seemed to be sharing a private moment. He had mixed feelings about showers, really. It was such a great place to find new and unsuspecting targets, but it was also the only place where the twins were truly different. They were both wounded, both had scars from their weeks here, but they weren't identical. The marks on their bodies were in different places. Anyone could tell them apart now.

He sighed, leaning into the spray from Kaoru's showerhead to wet his hair. "There's a little girl asking about sex on the bulletin board. It's pretty hilarious."

[For Haku]

Artemis' nurse was glad that she didn't have to fight with Artemis to get him into the shower today. No clinging, no snide remarks, nothing. The boy calmly undressed and, sans towel, moved to the closest showerhead and turned on the water.

He stood there, letting the water wash over him, trying to meditate. Despite everything that Haku and Badou and Schuldig had said to him, nothing would still his grief. But at least he wasn't blaming himself anymore. No, this was probably normal, healthy grief for one who had lost a friend.

[identity profile] faithful-frost.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
Haku spotted his friend right away and, taking his towel from his nurse, quietly took the stall beside him. He was careful not to draw too much attention to himself incase Artemis wanted to be left alone, but he wanted to be nearby incase he was needed.

Lunch had been spent moping.

Why did Kid have to post another notice? Probably because Shinichi was here now, but goddammit. What the hell. The one thing he could finally push to the side was now center stage again--and no doubt Shinichi would grill him for details on people's behavior, possible suspects, things that had been stolen, et cetera. At least he'd kept the note in the notebook safe. He'd intended to dust it for prints, but everything else just seemed to make him want to put it off.

He sat on one of the stools and, having lowered the showerhead some, let the spray drive into his skull--as if that would help him stop thinking about it.

[The Canadian and The Liar~ Sounds like a kids book. :<]
flashyaudacity: (Kaito: hmm?)

[personal profile] flashyaudacity 2008-12-03 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
After Kaito had posted Kid's note to Kudou before lunch, he'd spent his meal quietly observing. Neither Kudou nor Hattori had raised any sort of fuss over the note, and he had been rather pleased to see that they hadn't gravitated towards either other to discuss him as a case. They would talk about Kid sooner or later, he was sure, but the longer they took, the safer he'd feel.

It was probably just an illusion of safety, but frankly, Kaito would take whatever he could get.

Once he reached the showers and stripped down, he looked around for either of the detectives. He didn't see Kudou yet, but Hattori was sitting on a stool under the spray of one of the showerheads. If he got to Hattori first, maybe it could further delay a second meeting between the detectives...

He crossed over towards the Osakan, leaning over when he reached him. His head caught the spray of Hattori's showerhead, quickly soaking his hair.

Kaito frowned; the detective wasn't exactly the picture of cheerfulness today, and Kaito didn't like that. Nevermind that he'd probably had something to do with putting a damper on his mood... "Oi, Hattori. You okay?"

[Once upon a time, the Canadian never learned that the Liar lied, and they stayed BFF's. The End.]

Sousuke was never one to linger in the shower. He couldn't understand why people liked to stand under water for long periods of time--especially when the point wasn't relaxation, just getting clean.

He shampooed, washed, and toweled almost in record time (thank you, submarine showers) and headed out to the Sun Room.

Preoccupied with his conversation with Grell, his plans for tonight, and the information he'd received on the institute so far, Brainiac 5 wasn't paying much attention where he was going as he automatically followed the flow of other 'children' from the cafeteria. He'd heard the word 'showers' in the announcement earlier, which was something he supposed his body could do with right about now. Humans weren't as efficient as Coluans after all, and he was missing his nanotech systems that would have handled all the mundane processes that were so often just a waste of time.

He froze up when he entered the room, all current thoughts brushed aside by the horror of realising this place had communal showers. Of course in theory he'd known about such social customs, but the good thing about theories was that they were just theories and he didn't have any practical experience with them. And, in this case, didn't want to. Seeing so many others - people that he didn't even know! - in such a state of undress was thoroughly different from Coluan society that he just couldn't cope. A sentiment which was, from him, rather unusual as the level of social contact he allowed with non-Coluans would have gotten him shunned from his homeplanet if he hadn't already left some years ago. But this? This was too much, even by his standards.

Brainiac 5 turned, hoping he could just back out of the room without being noticed, but was brought to a stop when he saw the several nurses and orderlies standing nearby. Obviously taking a shower on his own or otherwise avoiding the communal area wasn't going to be allowed. He was given no choice but to cautiously strip off his clothing, face heating more and more by the moment, and edge past everyone to locate a vacant shower as far from others as possible, all the while desperately trying to avoid looking at anyone. Clearly he should just clean up and leave quickly. Then he could put this whole thing behind him and hopefully never speak of it again.

Tonight seemed simple enough, but Clark was worried. He knew he worried a lot, but he didn't see how he could afford not to when so many things could go wrong: his powers were already unreliable enough, they could get attacked, Kvothe might see something he wasn't supposed to, there might not even be phones there. The list went on. As nervous as it made him feel, he knew he'd go anyway. They needed to know.

The showers weren't exactly his favorite shift of the day. He'd gone through this a few times not to get too shocked about it, but that didn't mean he wasn't still uncomfortable. Clark kept his eyes down, not wanting to stare at what was a lot of other naked guys, and headed toward one of the showers. He began showering and was in the middle of shampooing his hair when he finally snuck a glance over at the other guy and realized one, he'd never seen him before and two. Two was a biggie because Clark couldn't help staring this time now.

There were three circles on his head, like scars or something.

Well, lunch had certainly been a pleasant change! Tamaki was actually in something close to a good mood when he shucked off his clothes - making sure to set his hair ribbons down gently and ask the nurse to keep them safe - and headed into the showers in his towel.

While he was still a bit nervous over communal showers now, he could mostly ignore the slight rise in nerves that came with being exposed to strangers. Potentially dangerous strangers. Really, he was being silly! The particular person he was afraid of wasn't even there, and no one was going to try anything in the showers!

Humming under his breath, Tamaki found an open shower slot and turned on the water. There were going to be new hands to help out at the clinic tonight, and he'd have to be at his best to handle it all!

[For Ed!]

[identity profile] lost-metal.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ed was a bit more subdued by the time that lunch ended, the threat of losing someone else close to him seeming much more real and immediate. It was no surprise then, that once he got into the shower and spotted a familiar figure, that he headed right over to Tamaki immediately.

He slipped into the spot next to his boyfriend and smiled at him warmly. "Hey," he said, glad to see him and know that he was there and real.

Chopper just couldn't get used to the idea of showers here.

It wasn't the fact that it was communal bathing; he was well enough used to that, having taken communal baths with his fellow pirates. It wasn't even the fact that he didn't know the majority of the people he was told to bath with. What felt so awkward to him was washing a fully human body.

He'd always bathed in Brain Point before, with his hooves and fur and antlers. Water hitting against fur-less human skin felt different, and served as further reminder to how he'd been changed.

Chopper wandered to an unoccupied spot, reaching out to turn on the water. At least having fingers was a little more convenient than his hooves...

Keman was, in all honesty, kind of relieved to get away from Brian. No matter what he said, he felt like he'd kept sticking his foot in his mouth. Something about the human man had been slightly unnerving. They may have bonded over their respective missing siblings, but Keman got the feeling that their roles as big brothers was about as far as their similarities went.

Now it was time for a shower. Just a few days ago, everything had been so different. Shadow had been changed and it was all very awkward being washed by your own biddable slave, but Shana had been there, keeping them together. Now she was gone, and they were all falling apart without her.

It had all changed so fast.

Keman finished his shower in record time. He didn't really feel like interacting.

The showers again. Once more, Adelheid was shocked about the fact that he wasn't shocked about the routine. He'd gotten used to the ordeal, and in a way, that worried him; he was getting accustomed to playing according to Martin Landel's rules, and he couldn't afford to keep losing the initiative. So then, the question presented itself... what could he do?

For now, remain a decent distance away from Suou Tamaki, and get himself cleaned up. There was no point in remaining unwashed, after all, and perhaps the warm water would help relax him enough to make the night's work even easier to handle. He could hope so, at least.

Allen had hoped that the showers would have emptied at least a little by the time he got there, but that didn't seem to be the case. There weren't many places left, so he picked one and walked quickly over, trying not to look at much more than the tiles and the adjustable knobs on the shower.

He gave a shy and quiet "hello" to the man nearest him before he started washing up.

Kon was disappointed he hadn't had a chance to show Donna his powers but there was always next time. It wouldn't be hard finding her again - he never forgot a babe - and Rex had always told him that you should always leave the fans wanting more. The nurse who'd come to fetch Kon informed him that since he'd somehow managed to make a mess of himself already he'd be joining the other patients in the showers.

Now that she mentioned it he did feel pretty gross. Taking a whiff of himself Kon wrinkled his nose. God, he stank of pond water. That might explain why Donna hadn't been as into him as he'd expected. Definitely time for a shower.

Kon got a good look around the room he'd been brought to, grinning happily as he took it in. Shared showers were way more fun than doing it alone. Just like other things he could think of to do in here. Too bad the women must have a different bathroom, it would be even better if they all got to share.

Humming as he stripped off Kon wandered easily through the room, checking out the other patients. Taking up station below a free shower head Kon began cheerfully washing himself, checking out the new arrivals and enjoying the scenery. After a moment he began to sing to himself. His team mates always complained about his singing. He didn't care what they said, he did not sound like the dying cries of rabid tomcat that had just tried mating a lawnmower.

[But how honest are you being about that, Kon? :D]

Toboe's nurse had finally managed to rouse the wolf-turned-boy just before lunch ended. He'd been rushed into the cafeteria for a quick meal, and then herded off to the showers. He'd protested, but the woman hadn't listened, and so Toboe shortly found himself naked and shoved into the showers.

Why she couldn't have just left him alone like he asked, Toboe didn't know. After what had happened last night, he certainly didn't want to be out here. Artemis was in the room as well, and Toboe had gotten it in his head somehow that the other boy might blame him for some of what happened, as ridiculous as the thought may have been. Either way, he didn't want to see him. The wolf hung his head and quickly went across the room to an empty shower, and after a few moments managed to remember how to work the taps.

Now if only the guy next to him would stop singing. It was making his ears ring.

The worst part about showers was that he couldn't take Usa-chan with him to make it less awkward and scary. The nurses promised to give him back after he was all cleaned up and he knew Soubi would be waiting in the Arts and Crafts room (possibly with treats!) so it was good incentive to wash up.

He scrubbed away the sticky berry mess from lunch and the remaining bits of syrup that'd followed him since breakfast. His hair was easy and even without gel and mousse he toweled it dry and it didn't look so bad. Honey was dressed in a flash and reunited with Usa-chan as he headed right back out the door.

That last conversation had been interesting, but Junior was glad he'd been able to answer the kid's questions, even if he hadn't ever gotten a name. It gave him reason to go find him again, right? Especially since he'd forgotten to explain about the experiments and stuff at night.

The redhead was at least happy that today was a shower day. He took a quick one, but the water felt good, and it was a nice way to keep his mind off of the fact that he'd now been here for a week and hadn't gotten much done. Looked like he really needed to step it up a notch.

That done, he quickly dried off and combed through his hair, figuring it was short enough to air-dry the rest of the way.

Possibly it was just because Jamie enjoyed cleaning things, and that included himself, but he'd actually been sort of looking forward to a shower, when he heard the Head Doctor mention it over the intercom. Regardless of the fact that he'd woken up every morning so far looking and feeling inexplicably clean, there was something reassuring about actually doing the cleaning oneself. So he'd left lunch feeling almost...chipper, at the prospect of a shower.

Until he realized that these were communal showers. He didn't know what he'd been expecting, but it certainly hadn't been this. Stripping naked in front of complete strangers was not his idea of a relaxing time. He'd been able to tolerate all the other infringements upon his privacy, but this was just pushing things too far. No way was he going through with this. No way, no how.

Predictably, all it took was one vaguely firm look from the attending nurse to convince Jamie otherwise. The teen all but huddled underneath a vacant showerhead, looking distinctly unhappy as he let the water soak his hair.

Ugh... having to shower with other people? That was not what Joshua wanted, at all. His distaste only grew as he squeezed out a test amount of soap on his hand, rubbing the slimy material between his fingers. Some sort of generic brand rubbish, it had to be... and the shampoo was the same way. No conditioner either, which had Joshua as close to a frothing fury as he could possibly get. And no Neku or anyone to bother either... that was aggravating in its own right.

Normally the boy might have tried to tease some of the other participants, as many people reacted quite strangely when they felt vulnerable, but... no. This place didn't deserve his time, and he wasn't going to spend more time with that travesty of a hair-care product. He only rinsed out his hair and applied a cursory amount of soap- who knew what kind of irreparable damage such a thing could cause!?- before waltzing right past the orderlies and into the sun room.

Mission Start: Find name-brand shampoo and soap. Three day time limit. Failures will be unsanitary.

Kratos disliked lingering in the showers: not only did it feel like wasted time, but previous habits dictated that he be on guard rather than relax.

He took pains to get all the orange juice residue from the other day off and then dried off and dressed as quickly as possible. Time to head to the Sun Room.

Normally Sora would have worked past the fact that the showers made him shy and talked to someone while he cleaned himself, but he was in a hurry this time. He had an appointment to keep, and he didn't intend to be any later than necessary.

It wasn't like he was obsessive about showers, anyway. Sure, he wanted to be clean, but he didn't take forever with it like some people did. It was easy to just turn the water on, rinse himself off, scrub some soap here and there, and then dump a bunch of shampoo in his hair and lather it around until it had gotten everywhere before washing it out.

His nurse didn't seem to approve, but since he gave her a bright grin and was generally so well-behaved, she allowed him to towel off, get dressed, and rush off into the Sun Room. Now, he just needed to find this Mello guy! Since he apparently had a scar on his face, it hopefully wouldn't be too hard.

Sasuke hadn't expected to be taken to shower, given the burns, but his nurse had tsk-ed at him (such a silly injury, Sean) and instead handed him a sponge and a bucket, telling him to fill it with water and give himself a nice sponge bath. The alternative being that someone else gave him a nice sponge bath, Sasuke took both items and went into the showers.

He wasn't sure that she was allowed to do such a thing, but he'd rather not take his chances that his nurse or some orderly was going to have him at their mercy with a bunch of hot water.

The burns hadn't been too bad, anyway -- worse than a typical second-degree burn, but he'd put out the flames quickly enough, and the worst of the damage was mostly along his left arm. Landel's had healed it as eerily quickly as usual, too, so it ended up not being too difficult to fill a bucket with hot water and start sponging it up over the parts of him that were less bandaged.

The process was still irritatingly slow. Sasuke wasn't sure if getting clean was worth the trouble.

"Will you be needing help, Sasuke-kun?" Sai seemed to be in the habit of following people around today, and as Sasuke had been separated from the others and yet still headed in the same direction as he was, Sai had taken the opportunity to stick with him. The conversation from lunch was still on his mind.

It was much easier to tell how injured the other ninja was at this point, and he'd definitely been hiding more than just a bruise under his clothing. Burns, it looked like. It seemed ironic, somehow, given the boy's propensity for fire.

He took the next shower head over, receiving a cold blast in the face through which he grimaced only momentarily. "I don't understand why you insist on separating yourself from those that are fond of you."

The hot water felt nice. Tony wasn't prissy, but he liked being clean. It let him feel more awake. But there wasn't really any reason to linger in a room full of wet, naked boys. He'd never felt that way, even at the orphanage, so he washed quickly and dressed in clean clothes. The nurses offered him the choice of the arts and crafts room and the Sun Room. He didn't want to see the arts and crafts room again so quickly, though it made him think of the people there last night. How had they done?
