Night 30: Main Hallway, 1-East

[From here]

Homura had to pause for a moment when he came to the main hall, just long enough to grit his teeth against the pain. His eyes were never still, however, his guard never lowered as he lingered. One minute, two, then onward, refusing to delay any longer than absolutely necessary.

He hated being this way.

Edging closer to the adjacent hallway soon revealed to be a bad idea, and in response, Ken halted just short of the entrance. Something was happening in the setting; without looking, the boy knew they had stumbled onto the heat of battle.

He threw a worried face up at his companion, uncertain of what to do. They could not let another fight slip through their fingers, could they?

[identity profile] remedying.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yukari stopped right beside him. She, on the other hand, didn't echo Ken's actions and look down at him; instead, she stared at the battle going on in surprise. It was hard not to watch them-- if there was a monster involved, then the scene would have made sense, but weren't they all people?

She was hesitant to go out into the hallway, but they had to move on somehow. Being able to do something would have been another concern, but they looked to be really at it, and she... well, without her equipment, she was nearly rendered useless when it came to fighting.

Nodding her head in the direction they were headed, Yukari finally spoke up for the first time since they left the room; "C'mon-- we gotta be careful."

His luck with the other halls had run out: from what they could see, there was some kind of fight down this hall, one patient pitted against the others. Brainwashed, probably, like that time with Luffy. Unlike that time, though, Brock didn't give two shits about the people who were getting attacked (or doing the attacking), and he was of the mind to let them slap each other as long as they wanted. With luck, someone might even get killed.

Scavenging wasn't really very becoming, but the symbiote didn't care. Food is food. So long as it was reasonably fresh, it didn't matter who did the actual killing.

Although there was always the bragging factor.

Brock hovered at the entrance to the hall, one hand on the wall as he peered around, watching the fight intently and not bothering to lift a finger to help his fellow man. Screw that. He'd tried that once with Luffy and almost ended up drowning, of all the dumbass ways to die. And that had been over someone he actually liked.

Marcus noticed that there was already a fight underway in the hall, probably with one of the brainwashed patients. It was difficult to tell in the confusion how it was going but he was quite certain that the people involved weren't the type to kill a brainwashed patient.

He didn't want to get in anymore fights than were necessary, hoping to actually get to the basement. There was also the chance that other patients might think they were brainwashed as well, and they could get attacked in the confusion.

[Clark's wandering in from here (http://community.livejournal.com/damned/306425.html?thread=24483321#t24483321)]

All the halls looked the same. They were like that during the day, but at night there was just something a lot creepier about it.

Clark crept down the hall. He thought he heard the sound of fighting further down, still distant but the closer he got, the harder it was to pass it off as something he'd imagined. He took his time approaching, deciding to play it cautious instead of just gunning in like he normally would. Normally he'd have his powers under control. But he didn't - his bandaged arm and his throbbing cheek were proof of that - so he'd have to be cautious.

Wesker noticed Clark cautiously edging down the hallway and decided to approach him. He might as well get to know him better if he was going to continue to be close to Claire.

"Hello, Clark," He spoke softly to avoid having the sound carry and draw unwanted attention. There was no telling what Birkin would be doing tonight, and Wesker had decided that it was usually better to have a companion at night if only to ward off monsters that mistakenly assumed a lone patient was easy prey.

The Bride paused as she saw, and heard, the fighting up ahead. This was rather inconvenient.

The battle looked intense and those involved were focused on their opponent. This would have been a good opportunity to kill one of them if she'd been on an assignment. Lucky for them, they weren't part of her assignment.

Watching the flow of the battle for a moment, the Bride judged the best course to take to slip by. She needed to get to the Sun Room. A moment later and the Bride moved silently under the sounds of the battle, low to the ground, and darted past people (including that woman she'd beaten up a couple nights ago and her guardian friend) and the battle without interfering.

Assassins were not to be seen unless they wanted to or had no other choice - even ex-assassins.

[From here (http://community.livejournal.com/damned/303653.html?page=2#comments), unknowingly waiting for Fayt]

After finally reaching the main hall, Albel paused. He still needed the raw materials for the alchemy stuff, and though he wanted to find it as soon as possible, he had no idea where he should look first.

Soon enough, the hall joined into a wider hallway that lead into another direction. A hallway that looked exactly like the other two before it, which Fayt seemed to notice was a bit of a trend. It was like the maker of this place was hoping they'd lose their minds trying to find their way around this place.

Based on what he had been hearing from everyone else, this didn't sound too far off.

Fayt frowned as he stopped just a few feet away from the hallway itself. People were fighting one another, how was Fayt supposed to ignore that? Though, when Leon and the others had told him about monsters the young man had been under the impression that the monsters weren't other patients! Or maybe they weren't patients, maybe the guy who wasn't wearing a uniform was actually working for Martin Landel.

This was frustrating. He wanted to help, but with no weapon he would only make things worse for the people already fighting. They didn't need to worry about him over everything else, but still...! He couldn't just leave them! Fayt looked around quickly in hopes to find something to fight with before his eyes caught Albel lurking in the shadows.

"...Albel? What are you doing?" He was beginning to feel like a broken record.

A thought occurred to Mason. There had been a rather unpleasantly large fire-breathing monster in the kitchen last night. Hopefully it had gone off to bother other people. The reaper glanced sideways at his new traveling companion. He just hoped the man could keep his head in a fucking fight.

Too bad Zel was off getting laid. That kid could be a right bugger, but he was a bit handy when it came to hitting things on the head. Or at least distracting them so Mason could run away.

As Mason turned the corridor, Scar quickly followed. His feline eyes scanned the darkness for any shapes, quickly noticing the battle further ahead. All three silhouettes looked human, though it was difficult to say with such a minimal amount of light.

He used to be able to see perfectly during nighttime. This place hadn't only transformed his body, it had also dampened his senses. All in all, this was terribly inconvenient.

The feline glanced at his traveling companion. He didn't appear to notice the fight, which the lion considered a good thing. Some fool trying to play the hero, therefor putting them in the center of attention was the last thing the King needed.

"Let's continue."

Rinali turned into the next hallway and glanced to the stairs quietly. Just go up. Find the truth. There had to be an answer...

[identity profile] broken-exorcist.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
There were fights already breaking out among some of the patients, but Rinali didn't even seem to notice. She was so... feverish in her search she was forgetting everything around her. He didn't dare call out to her now, not with a dangerous patient so nearby, but once they were clear, he had to do... or say something. For now, it was difficult enough just to keep up.

There was already a fight in the corridor? One of the brainwashed patients that she'd heard about apparently. Blood was running high and hot and it made her mouth water as she slipped past, forcing down the urge to join the fray.

This hall seemed a little crowded at first glance. Turning her head to look around, Amelia noticed no people to her right, however. Instead, there was a stairwell leading upwards. While the nurses had led her this way and that around the main floor, she hadn't even been aware there was a second floor! It made her curious. Anything could be up there, right? Perhaps even that Head Doctor himself!

But maybe she was getting ahead of herself. After giving the stairwell a long look, she turned back to Zelgadis with a questioning expression, as though asking him if he thought it was worth checking out, too.

[identity profile] accursed-rock.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Zelgadis followed behind Amelia and looked up to the stairwell. He hadn't even realized there was a second floor to this place! Was it dangerous?

Probably no more dangerous than anywhere else was. And exploring someplace new... something had to come of it.

He nodded to Amelia and began to climb the stairwell.

No small monsters to beat up, but there did seem to be something going on in the next hallway he came to. A fight, and quite the heated one. He didn't see any monsters involved, but humans could be just as deadly with the right training and abilities. A human appeared to be behind this fight as well. Of course he had to occupied, otherwise Kurogane would have lept at the opportunity for an actual person to fight. He didn't though and clung to the side of the hallway, dousing his lamp and rushing quickly by. He didn't have time and didn't need to temp himself by staying to watch either.

Peony stopped dead as soon as he got into the hallway, realizing that there was a big ol' fight in the middle of the hallway. Unfortunately, both sides looked like they were gonna be tough to get to if something noticed them.

"Heeey," he whispered to Haseo and Siegfried behind him, hoping that he wouldn't be noticed. "Stairs both ways. You strapping young men are fighters, right? C'mon, you gotta be. Which way do your impressive combat-honed eyes think we should go? Siggy? Mr. Mysterious?"

[identity profile] multiweapon.livejournal.com 2008-03-06 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
The rationale that was given for having come in this direction made Haseo's lips creased into a thin straight line of indifference. They had come here to find some closed off room and see what was inside; Peony never said was "it" was that was guarding this room--Haseo assumed it was a staff member or something--therefor it had to be some important staff-only room. The way Peony had worded it though made it seem like he'd recruited the two to play a part as petty thieves and Haseo wasn't fond of the thought of them being thieves, though the chance to get into some sensitive information was very tempting. He gave a tentative glance in Sigfried's direction, "I guess that's constructive." Though he agreed with obvious reluctance. The rogue couldn't shake the fact that something about the whole thing sounded fishy.

As for where to go in order to avoid the squabble, well, how would he know? He didn't have any idea where this room was and knowing the best route to take was difficult if he didn't know the destination to begin with. 'A guarded room' didn't really narrow things down. "Who cares? If they go to the same place let's just pick one." Haseo pointed to the nearest one just to give them a decisive direction, "That way."

Oh, great. A fight -- and not the kind with monsters, either. And given the circumstances, Claude had no way of telling for sure whether it was because of brainwashing or the fact familiarity often bred contempt. They'd all been trapped together for awhile, right?

It was hard to keep himself from getting involved. Generally, it was in his nature to want to play mediator when other people were arguing, and to fight when someone needed help. But there were herbs to find, and Claude knew it was possible he'd do more harm than good by flinging himself into the midst of a battle that didn't involve him.

Not to mention he could practically hear Dias's reaction to finding out he'd dug his nose into other people's business and had come out of the deal empty-handed.

Briefly closing his eyes, Claude turned away from the conflict and hurried down the hallway.

As they drew closer to the male and female blocks, Ken noticed the commotion from earlier was still transpiring. This time, however, they had no choice but to move on; neither of them had a decent weapon.

"Are we going to your room or mine, Yukari-san?" he whispered to his teammate.

It was, so as she thought about his question, Yukari ushered Ken to continue on.

The answer was simple; right now, she was someone who was trying to avoid her room thanks to a certain other possible occupant of it. "Yours," she replied without a beat.

Alec gritted his teeth as he looked down the hallway. They had two options: stealth, or making a break for it and running as fast as they could. He wasn't sure how quickly he could move, but he hoped it would be fast enough. Perhaps stealth would be the more prudent option.

"Let's go," he said, and started moving down the hallway slowly, eternally thankful for his old combat suit that helped him blend with the shadows.

Javert glanced back at Leon and Kagura, then up ahead at the patient. He seemed to be busy at the moment, but who knew how long that would last?

He followed Trevelyan quietly, keeping his bat at the ready. Perhaps his outfit wasn't as inconspicuous as Trevelyan's, but the old, battered greatcoat faded into the darkness far better than the patient uniforms.

The radio from earlier had worried her, but there wasn't much she could do for now. Only keep a close and keen eye on the shadows that her flashlight couldn't touch. Even though so many seemed to easily wander through, it was too risky to try. Those who ran seemed silly in a way. Running wasn't fantastically intelligent, stamina was needed in case she bumped into anything and if she ran then there would be nothing left to fight. She noticed greatly that she had been greatly weakened here. Not just her abilities but her strength itself.

Caution, that's all that she could hold. She walked on steadily to the next hallway. She was almost there. Now wasn't the time for distractions.

[identity profile] floraltempest.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 08:03 am (UTC)(link)

There was something going on in this hall. The realian wasn't sure what exactly, but it was clear that people were fighting. Her first instinct was to stop and see if she could offer any help. That was what she wanted to do, but she knew better than to do so. She didn't have a weapon (since pens weren't likely to do much), and using Ether again tonight was out of the question. She'd be more of a hindrance than anything else...

Murmuring a soft, "I'm sorry," MOMO remained close to the wall and hurried down the hall.

Just looking down the stairwell gave him a dizzy feeling of vertigo, and Allen gripped the bar that ran down the side as if his life depended upon it. The girls seemed content to worry about their own injuries, which was fine with him. They had enough to concern themselves with as it was.

Slowly, one step at a time, he made it down the stairs. He stumbled only a couple of times, and had to stop to keep the world from spinning around him, but he made it, near exhaustion, to the bottom. His breath was ragged now, as if he'd been running the whole way, rather than stumbling along at a snail's pace. At least they were close now, it wasn't much further to the clinic.
