Night 71: Sun Room

Now this place, he remembered intimately for a number of reasons. Goku couldn't feasibly count the number of times Taura, Birdy, and he had come through here to get to the basement. Most of the time they had been stopped by someone or something lurking in here. The memory started his heart pumping with excitement. It had been a long time since he had a proper fight!

The one with Birdy didn't count. Goku thought back further and stopped on the time he had attacked Kibitoshin in this exact room. He tried, but he couldn't remember why he had wanted to defeat the man... Either way, it had been a great fight. It was also the night he had truly met Taura and everything she was capable of. Yeah, those were all fond memories!

Welp. Goku flicked his gaze back and forth within the spacious room, but nothing seemed willing to assault him. That was a real drag!

"Ah well..." Technically, he had a job to complete. Reluctantly, he peeled his feet off the carpet and moved to the doors that lead into the main hallways. He could there'd be a lot of people out there to throw these bricks at.

Korra grunted painfully, Ed's automail grazing her chin and his other fist knocking the wind out of her. That was gonna leave a pretty good bruise. She hit the ground hard, not quick enough with her airbending to properly cushion herself. Did that guy have iron knuckles? She'd seen nonbenders carrying them before, even metalbenders who used them. Either way, this guy was dangerous. Korra knew now that she was fighting for her own safety. Forget the rules. The other kid was approaching her now, too. And Big Guy would undoubtedly follow.

The Avatar pushed herself up, supporting her weight on her hands and swinging her legs around in a fast circle. Now came the fire, originating from her feet and spreading through the air around her to try and scare off her attackers. She didn't care if she burned them, at this point.

There was that fire again. Scar had little doubts before, but it was now obvious that she could make it one her own. The attacks seemed movement-based, though. What if they could get her to be still...?

"Alphonse! Edward!" He lunged for both boys, reaching to try to pull them away from the sudden blaze. The light was, once again, disorienting in the darkness. Scar himself was putting himself dangerously close to the girl, but the instinct to protect the Elrics came before his own self preservation.

More fire?! Al gritted his teeth and dashed forward, diving through the flames to tackle the girl flat to the ground, quite oblivious to Scar's protective lunge.
The flash of pain reminded him he wasn't an empty suit of metal anymore, but it was too late to back out now.

Ed jumped into the air to evade the fire when it swept through where he was standing and the moment he touched down again, he threw himself forwards at Korra, determined to take her down before she could do something like that again.

Come on, who were these guys? Acrobats? Korra's back hit the ground hard once again when both brothers jumped at her. She was going to be pretty beat up when this was over, but right now, she was just getting frustrated.

"Get off!" Within a moment of being tackled, small spits of fire began to mix with her breath. Korra inhaled deeply through her nose, ready to breathe fire at the bad guys who'd just taken her down.

What the hell were they doing? That girl was making fire appear out of nowhere and they dove right into her? The best chance they had was to make a run for it!

Upon noticing sparks flaring up once more, Scar reached out to grab both boys by the backs of their shirts. Should he not miss, his grip would easily be strong enough to yank both boys back.

Alphonse yelped when she spat out fire, rolling to dodge out of the way while still at least attempting to keep her pinned. Instead, however, he rolled right into Scar's grasping hand, making him easy to haul away from the fight. "How the hell is she doing this?!"

"What the hell?" Ed yelped, although he elected to punch her again instead of getting away, ignoring the flickers of flame that's making his skin uncomfortably warm.

Yeah, Scar, you're just getting the younger one away from her, sorry.

At least one of them got the message. Korra didn't want to burn anybody, but if they were going to try and pin her down, she was going to do something about it. The small one meant business- that metal hand of his was coming in for another attack, which Korra lifted a forearm to block. She grunted painfully at the contact, the boy's arm far stronger than hers, which caved under the impact. She didn't doubt that he'd just fractured it.

In spite of the blossoming pain in her arm, Korra put full force behind the fire in her throat, shooting it at Edward. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew that she needed to get off the ground if she wanted some kind of chance. But first, she needed to get this freak off her.

Scar ignored Alphonse's question, more focused on the fact that

"What the hell are you doing?" he shouted at Edward, making sure Alphonse was balanced before advancing toward the scuffle on the ground. All that registered from the fire was that he needed to get Edward out; to hell with Scar's own safety.

He reached for Edward, again, trying to pull him away. He was still conflicted about hurting the girl, especially now that Ed had given her a bit of a beating.

"Brother!!" Letting go of Al was a mistake, as he ran forward again to block Ed from the fire, or pull him away, or something. "Stop it!!" Just who he was yelling at, even he didn't know.

Ed rolled to the side to avoid the flames and scissored his legs to trap hers. "Knock her out so we can stop dealing with this bullshit!"

Korra growled at Edward, struggling against the two boys to no avail. She didn't want to permanently injure anyone, or worse, though in the heat of the moment she easily could have, given her typical impulsiveness.

But now wasn't typical, and she'd been given orders. And even though she'd never been one to force herself to adhere to rules, this one was important.

Both of them were on her again, and she didn't have any good way of escaping without pulling something risky like that again. There was little she could do; Korra continued to struggle against Ed, her anger fueling small embers to form around her knuckles.

"Dammit Al-!" Scar was becoming more and more angry by the second. They were both being goddamn fools, throwing themselves at this girl who could make fire and wind out of nowhere.

Knocking her out was starting to look like the only solution.

Scar knelt behind Korra's head and unwrapped his shawl from around his shoulders. Combined, he was certain that the boys would be strong enough to hold her in place. He attempted to cover her mouth with the thick fabric of his shawl to muffle any more potential fire. He planned to choke her out, but only long enough for them to make their escape. This felt wrong, so horribly wrong. Even though she had been attacking them...

"I will only knock you out. You need not fear for your life." He knew that words from an enemy, even a temporary enemy, meant nothing. It did little to calm his conscience, but it was something.

Al grabbed and pinned her arms to her side the best he could, using his weight to hold her in place. He didn't like this any better than Scar, but they had to do something!

Ed switches to holding her legs properly, rather than using his own legs.

Now that the adrenaline was starting to wear off, he's actually starting to notice his burns and that the skin was warmer than it should be.

Korra's eyes widened when all three of them were suddenly on her. She was physically very strong, and it showed. Her limbs were hot and sweaty from the fire and the struggle, which she kept up. She could not manage a strong breath, though, and fire came from the breath. She was rendered helpless and undangerous, and she was terrified.

She still struggled, though. Squirmed and tried to lift her body off the ground. Big guy's words meant nothing to her; he was the bad guy.

Letting the boys keep her on the ground, Scar hooked an arm around the back of Korra's neck for leverage. He pressed his free hand against her wind pipe, putting weight down on her throat. If he only choked her long enough for her to pass out, that would give them enough time to sprint for another room. Scar could only pray that he didn't cause her permanent damage.

"I am sorry." He closed his eyes, scowling at himself.

Al bit his lip as he struggled to keep her still, wishing they didn't have to do this. But there was no way to reason with her--whatever the doctors had done, it had made certain that she wouldn't back down on her own.

"I'm sorry," he says, almost the same time as Scar.

Ed just gritted his teeth and focused on doing his part to keep her still, with a side of wishing that they had something to tie her up with so they could do that and stick her in a closet somewhere.

There was little more than a weak noise out of Korra's mouth, in spite of her protests. The room was quickly spinning, and she was lightheaded. She'd been knocked out before, but that didn't make it any less terrifying.

Her head settled back after a moment, and her squirming ceased.

Scar released Korra's throat as soon as she was unconscious, muttering another apology before picking up his shawl and standing.

"Come. She will wake soon." With that, he ran for the nearest door as the intercom beeped on.
