Nightshift 23: M11-M20 Hall
Gin sat quietly on the edge his bed, hands folded in his lap as the doors unlocked. The knives were still beneath his pillow, where he'd stuffed them before Naoe came in for dinner. He'd prefer the man didn't know he had them, but if Ran arrived before Naoe left, well, it wasn't that important.
He still didn't know if she was going to show up at all. He'd wait a few minutes, check and see if her spirit thread was getting any closer, if not... there were plenty of other things he could do tonight. Jack was reliable if nothing else and wouldn't be too difficult to find. The disembodied voice of the announcer was right though. It was possible, terribly likely in fact, that he was not on the grounds. That he was somewhere else entirely. It would help if he knew a little more about how their announcement system worked. Obviously the Head Doctor wasn't the only one who could use it.
Regardless, he had to focus his thoughts on the here and now and then proceed forward. He sat patiently, for now at least, waiting for his visitor.

But there was only so much time for thought before the doors clicked open, and with a grin, Homura stood. He could feel the same sense of anticipation from the night before, only greater, as he had defined objectives this time. He took the flashlight with him, the feeling of the short handle again making him wish for his sword as he moved into the hall.
Soon enough, however, and Homura was nothing if not a patient man. Still, he would only wait so long for this River to make an appearance before he proceeded to the Sun Room. He had no desire to spend a second night with no ground gained.

"Do either of you know where the paitents are taken that the Head Doctor just spoke of?" he asked with a hint of urgency in his voice.
His guess was the second floor. He and Sasuke had found a lab up there. His plan was to go to Takaya's room, find out anything he could if Lee was still there, and then go looking, but if someone already knew then all the better.

"I'm afraid I have no idea." Homura spoke without concern. None of the names called out had been familiar to him, after all. "I've only been here two days."

Specifically outside M17
After taking a couple of right turns and walking up a bit, Reno found himself in front of M17 for the second night in the row. There was no one else here yet - assuming Rufus hadn't invited anyone inside the room.
The radio message went unnoticed by him. He'd left his radio behind yet again, figuring he could just get it from Rufus or something. There was really only need for one, after all, and he was already carrying enough stuff with him as it was.
Reno gave a few short knocks on the door with the end of the flashlight. He twisted the knob and pushed the door open a small crack, not wide enough for him to see inside.
"Hey, boss," he said, pulling the cigarette from his lips. "You in?"
Re: Specifically outside M17
In afterthought, that didn't sound as right as it should have. Shaking his head, Rufus slid on a sweater over his clothing and straightened all of it. Not as good as the layers he preferred, but it was close enough. Now if he could only do something about the wretched smiley faced on everything.
Opening the door further, Rufus ran a hand through his hair. Nervous was not a feeling he liked. It wasn't everyday he met a telepath, and rarely had one possessed the potential for value as this situation. He left the door open, leaning against the frame. If something nasty decided to attack, he and Reno might very well need to head in for protection.
"Dare I ask where you got cigarettes in this place? Find a new place to raid?"
Re: Specifically outside M17
"Rude," he said by way of explanation. "Or the guy they claim was Rude. One good thing out of the whole visitor deal."
Flipping the flashlight around, he pushed it towards Rufus, handle-first.
"Here. Might as well take this."
It had less to do with the fact that he'd destroyed Rufus's flashlight, and more that his hands were already occupied holding the gun. It was too hard to juggle everything.
Besides, he didn't want the President wandering around completely without a weapon, makeshift or not. If he somehow managed to grab enough metal for Mustang to make two knives, he'd be able to hand one over to Rufus. Until then, the flashlight was about the next best thing.

He'd taken the usual precaution tonight before the door had unlocked for the night. He'd pulled his coat around his shoulders and loaded it up with the things he needed - pens, journal, radio, flashlight, half a cookie. This time, though, he took a couple forks along in his pockets, and both of the sharp-edged ladles he'd seen last night.
Where to go first? There were so many options. He had to get Xigbar at some point tonight - he'd promised the man that, and he'd promised himself that he'd try to save number II from number X.. He briefly toyed with retrieving Dias, but the way the man had acted on the bulletin board had kind of cut him a little bit. While Ashton didn't have anything to prove to the man, necessarily, he felt rather ashamed and sick, and some good old-fashioned heroism would do the trick tonight. On the other hand, he considered going to see Naminé... he was glad she'd marked her room on his map, and the chance was very good that Xigbar wouldn't try to .. take advantage .. of him in front of the girl.
Flashlight off and in his pocket, metal ladles in his hands, he began to jog down the hallway, not stopping to greet anyone in his path. He'd figure out just where he was going a bit later.

Outside M16 and beyond.
When his blackened space of the map had been filled with a new hall and another dead-end, the judge turned about-face and took the familiar path to Larsa's room, keeping his eyes on the shadows around him and the light of the lamp securely in front of him.

Hisoka began walking the moment Tsuzuki returned and flicked on his flashlight. He wasn't one to enjoy being held up when there were things to be done and the sooner they got moving, the better.
This had nothing to do with the fact that they were in the dark. It didn't.It didn't take long for the boy to reach the next hall over and the boy frowned at the number of people also there as well. Hopefully none wished to stay and chat... They'd be sorely disappointed.
no subject
He glanced to Hisoka. "So...Which one is he?" Then as an after-thought, "Do you even know what he looks like?" If the guy had already left his room, they were going to have a horrible time finding him...
no subject
With that the boy slowly walked further into the hall, eyes glancing at the others there as well as he attempted to discern who they were supposed to meet.
Note to self, always ask for a damn name.

"I told Faust we would meet at the stairwell just outside the M-block," he said over his shoulder to the captain. "I believe it's the one just down the hall."
no subject
"Yeah, I know which one he means." Thus far, he'd always bypassed the stairs and made straight for the women's halls. It was definitely going to be nice to be doing something different.
Hopefully, the plan would go smoothly.
"You all right with flashlight duty? I'll do the head-bashing." He couldn't help smiling down at the bat in his hand. Yes, it was a bit primitive, but since when had he been dignified?

He did wonder where Mal had obtained the - large metal object. It seemed a bit like an overlarge truncheon; the former inspector had no doubt it would function nicely as a weapon.
Javert barely glanced down as the radio crackled to life; he understood little of what it said, so it probably didn't concern him. He did remember seeing a chapel on the second floor of someone's map in the Sun Room, but decided not to worry about it. There were other things to do tonight.

M19
How far were the women's room from here? She seemed confident she could make it in time, but...
He turned his focus to the radio as the broadcast came on. Jack had carried his with him last night and it had provided some interesting insights to the ones running things here. He did in fact, have a few minutes to spare, so he held the radio in his hands and listened.
It seemed to be as he'd thought before. A game. This man, though different from the doctor, was enjoying his little play of words just as much. A lot of babble about good vs. bad. Light and dark. Things were never as simple as all that. There were always shades of gray. And the more light cast on something, or someone, the greater the shadow hidden behind them. Simple facts.
The advice was of interest though. The second clue was obvious enough. He'd heard there was some kind of religious sanctuary on the grounds, which was no doubt where most of those that believed in this... other Jack person would be going. The first clue was more cryptic. Or perhaps just seemed that way to him since he had yet to visit the place in its entirety.
The origin of the broadcasts was still a puzzle. Though if this other Jack were to be trusted, there was a good chance the doctor was still on the grounds. Gin had suspected it, a man like that... liked to be close to his work.
The broadcast finished, he hung the strap on the apron's straps, to rest at his hip. The excess noise could be a nuisance, but he preferred not to miss any additional information.
Now all that was left was Ran. He'd give her a couple more minutes and if she didn't show... well... it was entirely possible one of the others had gotten to her since their morning conversation. It was still too early to call it a loss just yet.
Re: M19
Rangiku knocked lightly on the door, leaning close so she could speak quietly. "It's Ran," she said, loud enough for him to hopefully hear her. She knew better than to walk in unannounced on another shinigami, let alone one as powerful as Gin.
Hopefully he was still waiting for her. It was difficult to guage time in this place.

Sasuke frowned as he noticed the large concentration of people in the hall. Some of them he recognized and considered speaking with, after he reached his first goal.
"The room I'm looking for is here," he told Alphonse after the boy had caught up. "Looks like we part ways."
He indicated the room number he'd been looking for with a movement of his head, hand on the doorknob.
"Stay in the room area," he ordered, voice authoratative without meaning to be. "I'll send back anyone I find."

Then he smiled. "Good luck. I won't be very far from our room."

They made it to the men's block fairly quickly and without being attacked. There seemed to be a lot of people out and about. Maybe it was too crowded for the monsters to want to attack. Enough people to make the danger outweight the rewards.
She slipped along the corridor of the men's block, checking the number of the first door in each one. Finally she reached the one she thought was correct and glanced back at Sora. "M19 would be this corridor, yes?"

She looked to Sora when Rangiku questioned him.

Sasuke stepped out into the hall again, noting with irritation that it was still as crowded as before.
This time, though, he was unencumbered by a weakened roommate, and he set a brisk pace as he headed down the hall, obviously expecting Yoshiaki and Lee to follow him at the same speed.
Complications arose in this place like in the early stages of Kabuto's experiments, but Sasuke was itching to fight someone -- or something -- that would actually test his strength and his new sword.

Silently, he made his way through the quickly and silently, noting all that was around him, and ready to fight if need be.
He thought of Sakura, as well as Naruto, Gaara and anyone else from his home. He prayed that all of them were safe, and that if need be, he would be able to help protect them.
