Nighshift 41: F21-30 Hallway

Franziska did not trust her roommate, which was just fine with her, since it seemed that Maki Shouko did not trust Franziska either. There was something about her protective nature that brought out the worst in Franziska's investigative nature. Pulling the truth from Maki Shouko would have to wait, however, until Franzika was better armed with evidence and proof that she was, in fact, something more than a mere unemployed, ex-psychologist homemaker. Taking her journal, her flashlight and her radio, Franziska made a note of the night's announcement and then headed outside.

Only to find it entirely blacked out.

So this was the night that people spoke of with such terror? A little bit of dark wasn't going to kill anyone. Pathetic. Flicking on her flashlight, she noted that the beam was unusually weak against the dark and scoffed. Giving the inmates sub-par equipment would need to be added onto the list of complaints when she lodged her class action suit against Martin Landel.

Heading down the hall, Franziska recalled the map she'd seen in her head. She needed to go and find the second floor, get to the patient possessions room, retrieve her whip and then she'd take this place by storm.

[skipping from here] (http://community.livejournal.com/damned/630419.html?thread=53232787#t53232787)

It was perfectly okay for Junpei to skip, like, once or twice when humming that jaunty tune. No one could tell him otherwise without a boot to the head. Okay, Chidori could, but she was special.

Speaking of his redheaded girlfriend, Junpei came to a stop outside her room and knocked. "Yo, Chidori! Your hunk of a man is here to sweep you off your feet and... get some pipes."

Okay, that sounded kinda lame. Maybe Chidori wouldn't comment on the lameness. Maybe she was wearing his jersey like he'd asked her to. Sure, it was huge on her, but there was just something about her that looked good in his shirt...

Chidori hadn't quite known what to make of Junpei's request that she wear his jersey. It was just going to get wet again if she did. So instead, she answered the door in her usual uniform, with the jersey draped over one arm. "It will get wet if I wear it, Junpei."

Awwww, man. She wasn't wearing it. Sure, she had a good point but still!

Junpei trailed his fingers through Chidori's hair. "Yeah, okay, you're right, but I was liking the idea of anyone that sees you tonight knowing that you're my girlfriend since that jersey has my name on the back."

He smiled. "Wear it later?"

Chidori just barely resisted the urge to roll her eyes at Junpei. It wasn't that she took offense at his wanting to show her off, as it were, she simply found the idea rather silly. But then again, what did she know about relationships?

And on that note, "My roommate said we should go on a date on the field trip tomorrow."

"..."

Her roommate said?

"We can. I dunno what we can do there, since I've no clue what there is, but if you want to..." He grinned. "Maybe they'll let us have regular clothes instead of these," he added on plucking at his shirt. He then started picturing all the various outfits Chidori could possibly wear.

Junpei's silence worried Chidori, for a moment. Did he not want to go on a date? Had she skipped steps again? But, no, he seeemd okay with the idea. "She said there's a nice restaurant, and parks. No movies." Chidori still wasn't sure she wanted to waste time sitting in a dark, loud place where she couldn't really communicate with or see Junpei, anyway.

"Sweet!" Junpei then frowned. "But... they took my wallet, so I don't have any money to treat you to dinner."

He scratched his head. "Maybe I can talk the manager into letting me wash some dishes to pay for it."

Re: F21

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
It was definitely true that they had no money. But Chidori's roommate probably didn't, either, and she had known about the restaurant. "Well, if we're there all day they have to feed us lunch somehow. Maybe they pay." Having a nurse tagging along on their first 'real date' didn't exactly seem like it would be very fun, but the chances of their being let out without intense supervision were never good to begin with.

Re: F21

[identity profile] whos-da-man.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
Junpei's thoughts ran along similar lines when it came to supervision. "This sucks. I don't want a chaperon on our first actual date. We're not kids," he whined.

Re: F21

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Chidori shrugged. "They think we're mental patients." From the perspective of the daytime staff, provided they weren't in on it, it did make sense that supervision would be required. And, of course, if they were in on it they just didn't want anyone escaping.

Re: F21

[identity profile] whos-da-man.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Junpei let out an overly dramatic sigh. "Yeah, I guess you're right." He then grinned. "You think we can sneak off and, like, make-out in the bushes? I've always wanted to do that," he said with a wink.

Re: F21

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Making out in bushes sounded like a very good way to get into trouble. Chidori didn't want to get sedated, and she certainly didn't want Junpei to get sedated. On the other hand, it kind of sounded like an interesting experience, too. Chidori blushed at the thought, and turned away in a bit of a huff to cover it. "Hmph."

Re: F21

[identity profile] whos-da-man.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
With a bit of a chuckle, the teen wrapped his free arm about Chidori's shoulder to pull her gently against his chest. "You're so cute when you blush," he told her. "Come on... it'd be fun!"

It'd also get them in trouble if they got caught, so... they needed to not get caught.

Re: F21

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Being held by Junpei certainly wasn't stopping Chidori's blush, so she changed the subject abruptly. "We should go get that metal."

Re: F21

[identity profile] whos-da-man.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, man! Chidori was getting flustered and it was so cute and Junpei was liking it and then... she had to change the subject. The teen pouted a little before letting her go.

"Yeah, I guess so," he replied. "Hey! Lemme see the axe." It was a curious weapon. He idly wondered why she'd chosen it. Swords were so much cooler, but if it made her happy, it worked.

Re: F21

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Chidori sighed in relief, her heart beating far too fast for her liking. Her axe was a much safer topic.

She lifted it to show Junpei, flipping it over to offer it to him handle-first. It would be the first time someone outside of Strega handled her axe with her permission. She'd made a braided wristband that held one end of the chain and freed up her hands, and which could be released with a simple twist in case she needed to let go of the chain in a hurry.

[identity profile] whos-da-man.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Even though it had only been a week since he'd witnessed first hand exactly how deadly Chidori could be with an axe, it always amazed him how smoothly she handled it. One look at her, especially when she was all Gothic Lolita'd out, and it'd never occur that she could fight, but then she did something like this, flipping the axe like it was nothing, and it was apparent she knew what she was doing.

Junpei wasn't sure he could flip his sword like that without cutting himself. Then again, he did use a two-handed sword that really wasn't meant for something like that.

Taking the axe, Junpei looked it over curiously. It was just so different. "So why'd you decide on an axe back when, you know, you decided?"

Re: F21

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Chidori had actually put a fair amount of thought into her choice of weapon, though she realised it seemed a strange choice on the surface of things. "It's small enough to hide in my clothes--well, my regular clothes--and small enough to throw, but it does more damage per throw than a knife would." Stamina was not one of Chidori's strong points--the extra energy needed to throw a heavier weapon was worth it if it shortened the time she'd need to spend fighting.

Re: F21

[identity profile] whos-da-man.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. That makes sense," Junpei replied, hefting the axe like he was seeing what it'd feel like to throw. He didn't really throw it, just went through the arm motion slowly before handing it back.

"I kinda miss your regular clothes," the teen mused. "I mean, you look hot in whatever you've got on at the moment, but the dress really leaves an impression."

Re: F21

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"I miss them too." The various pointy bits of her old outfit had made Chidori much more unapproachable--people avoided her very nicely, back in Japan. Well, normal non-Junpei people did, anyway.

"You know, Yuka-tan got her skirt and sweater thing back. Maybe they'll give you yours," Junpei offered. He wasn't entirely sure the big poofy dress was the best thing to be traipsing around this place at night in given it was white but if it made her happy...

Re: F21

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-06-06 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Chidori had noticed some people wandering around at night in different clothing, but she still wasn't sure how that all worked. Why did some people get their clothes back and not others? All she said to Junpei's suggestion, though, was "Maybe."

Obviously Junpei was in no hurry to give back her axe and get to work on gathering metal, and it wasn't exactly Chidori's idea of a good time, either, but if they didn't get it done tonight then they'd have to waste another night on it. "The metal?"

[identity profile] whos-da-man.livejournal.com 2009-06-06 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh yeah... Here," Junpei said, giving the axe back. "I suppose we should get that done. Then I have this awesome idea!"

With that, he headed down the hall tot he bathroom from the night before.
