Nighshift 41: F21-30 Hallway

Franziska did not trust her roommate, which was just fine with her, since it seemed that Maki Shouko did not trust Franziska either. There was something about her protective nature that brought out the worst in Franziska's investigative nature. Pulling the truth from Maki Shouko would have to wait, however, until Franzika was better armed with evidence and proof that she was, in fact, something more than a mere unemployed, ex-psychologist homemaker. Taking her journal, her flashlight and her radio, Franziska made a note of the night's announcement and then headed outside.

Only to find it entirely blacked out.

So this was the night that people spoke of with such terror? A little bit of dark wasn't going to kill anyone. Pathetic. Flicking on her flashlight, she noted that the beam was unusually weak against the dark and scoffed. Giving the inmates sub-par equipment would need to be added onto the list of complaints when she lodged her class action suit against Martin Landel.

Heading down the hall, Franziska recalled the map she'd seen in her head. She needed to go and find the second floor, get to the patient possessions room, retrieve her whip and then she'd take this place by storm.

Even though it had only been a week since he'd witnessed first hand exactly how deadly Chidori could be with an axe, it always amazed him how smoothly she handled it. One look at her, especially when she was all Gothic Lolita'd out, and it'd never occur that she could fight, but then she did something like this, flipping the axe like it was nothing, and it was apparent she knew what she was doing.

Junpei wasn't sure he could flip his sword like that without cutting himself. Then again, he did use a two-handed sword that really wasn't meant for something like that.

Taking the axe, Junpei looked it over curiously. It was just so different. "So why'd you decide on an axe back when, you know, you decided?"

Chidori had actually put a fair amount of thought into her choice of weapon, though she realised it seemed a strange choice on the surface of things. "It's small enough to hide in my clothes--well, my regular clothes--and small enough to throw, but it does more damage per throw than a knife would." Stamina was not one of Chidori's strong points--the extra energy needed to throw a heavier weapon was worth it if it shortened the time she'd need to spend fighting.

"Oh. That makes sense," Junpei replied, hefting the axe like he was seeing what it'd feel like to throw. He didn't really throw it, just went through the arm motion slowly before handing it back.

"I kinda miss your regular clothes," the teen mused. "I mean, you look hot in whatever you've got on at the moment, but the dress really leaves an impression."

"I miss them too." The various pointy bits of her old outfit had made Chidori much more unapproachable--people avoided her very nicely, back in Japan. Well, normal non-Junpei people did, anyway.

"You know, Yuka-tan got her skirt and sweater thing back. Maybe they'll give you yours," Junpei offered. He wasn't entirely sure the big poofy dress was the best thing to be traipsing around this place at night in given it was white but if it made her happy...

Chidori had noticed some people wandering around at night in different clothing, but she still wasn't sure how that all worked. Why did some people get their clothes back and not others? All she said to Junpei's suggestion, though, was "Maybe."

Obviously Junpei was in no hurry to give back her axe and get to work on gathering metal, and it wasn't exactly Chidori's idea of a good time, either, but if they didn't get it done tonight then they'd have to waste another night on it. "The metal?"

"Oh yeah... Here," Junpei said, giving the axe back. "I suppose we should get that done. Then I have this awesome idea!"

With that, he headed down the hall tot he bathroom from the night before.
