Day 39: Intercom, Evening
The Head Doctor seemed a little rushed as he spoke on the intercom, not taking as much pleasure as he usually did in describing the delicious food that would soon be served.
"Hello, everyone! Tonight is turkey night, which means turkey breast in a great turkey gravy with some nice turkey sides: peas, herb potatoes, a small garden salad, and for dessert, a slice of pumpkin pie. We of course have vegetarian substitutes available, as well as our usual assortment of drinks.
"...I believe that's it! I'll talk to you soon!"
The intercom clicked off abruptly.
[ If you are introducing your character during this shift, you may either choose for them character to wake up before their roommate gets back, or after.

Re: M96
"It's just common knowledge nowadays. I'm sure the people you were with would've told you anyway." Of course, it would've been fun to throw in a couple of fibs here and there, but the latter was bound to find out eventually.
"Will you be going with them again tonight?"
Re: M96
The question, however, immediately clamped the child's mouth into a tight line. He honestly wasn't sure how to answer that, especially with what happened this morning. Although Nigredo could easily kick a question down the link to his red-haired brother, he didn't feel like bothering him. When complications arose among the variants, it was easiest to leave the others alone, as silly as the reasoning was.
"I don't know," he finally said, eyes down to his plate. "Probably not tonight."
Re: M96
"No problem. All of us have the same goal in mind; well, most of us anyway."
The God-General quickly went back to eating, finishing up half of his plate by the time the kid answered his second question. Now, most people would've been more than happy to invite their roommate to come with them, but such a generous invitation was the last thing Sync ever wanted to give.
"Maybe you should explore the place on your own then," He suggested. "You might get a better picture if you spend a night or two familiarizing yourself with your surroundings."
Satisfied with how much he ate, Sync set his plate aside before hopping off his bed and reaching underneath the mattress.
"Have you gotten a map yet? If not I can draw one up for you."
Re: M96
"You're right," he agreed, despite sounding fairly apathetic to the whole subject. "I have a few things to see anyway." Or see if things matched up to what he suspected upon arrival.
When the older boy offered to provide him with a map, the younger blinked at the generosity. Compared to last night, dinner was turning out to be quite a contrast. A good one, certainly; it was just difficult setting aside first impressions.
Nigredo slowly shook his head. There hadn't been time to make a proper copy. "I memorized what I needed from the bulletin, though. I should be fine for tonight." If his roommate insisted on making one, however, he would voice no objections.
Re: M96
"If you're sure..." The God-General glanced around, like he was looking for a clock to see how much time they had left, before letting his gaze fall back to the other patient.
"I'll give you one tomorrow if you don't have one by then. I'd try to do it now, but I'd probably end up rushing and making it look messy. I doubt something like that would be of much help in the long run."
Re: M96
He managed a long exhale, sounding just about as patient as the other looked. "Oh," he said after a moment. "I'm Nigredo." The boy figured introductions would settle the last of his doubts.
Re: M96
"Nigredo. That's an interesting name." From what he could make out there was nothing that connected it to Ancient Ispanian, but that was to be expected. Had he kept to himself more he would've lied about his name, but since Joshua's room was nearby the chances of him popping up where the kid could overhear was high. And so he closed his notebook and nodded.
"Sync. It's nice to meet you."
