Nightshift 38: East Wing, Hall A
[From here.]
Soubi was certain he knew the way now. He'd come along here with Ritsuka, alone....teasing the boy with that can. Oh yes. He'd enjoyed that, though they'd had discussions about things Soubi would rather have hidden from. But you can't win them all.
Finding the door, he gave the handle a twist and a push but, like last time, it was a job for his shoulder. He stepped back before forcing his weight into it. The door opened and he shone the light in from the torch, checking for monsters.

Without further ado, he raced at it, and once he had almost reached it, he half-jumped and shoved his side against it. It hurt - it always did - and the lock budged, but didn't break.
Sora took a few shaky steps back and eyed his "opponent" for a moment. The locks never broke on the first try, though, so he was prepared to go at it again.

"H-hey!" he called out, hopefully before Sora took another bound toward the locked door. "I can help too, you don't have to do it by yourself." Allen hurried over to assist, hoping Sora wouldn't be so stubborn as to not take him up on the offer.

Indy rounded the corner and saw two scruffy-haired teenage boys by the janitor's closet door--the one they needed to get through. One of them had evidently just done a flying leap into the door. It hadn't been successful; he looked like he was getting ready to give it another shot.
He felt good about this for two reasons. The first was that the kids didn't look like the types to try to kill them. The second was that their trying to break down the door meant that they were the first ones here, which meant that he and Pierson would have the run of the toolkit, aside from whatever the two boys needed.
He rubbed his left shoulder instinctively. This wouldn't be fun, but you did what you had to. "Get ready for some noise," he muttered to Pierson, who would doubtless be just as amused by Indy's door-busting performance as he had been last night. Well, Indy would damn well be happy to stop hurling himself at doors as soon as they found a better--make that any--alternative. At least this time the door was demonstrably locked.
Indy strode toward the door, leaning the pole against the wall once he got close to show that he was friendly. "Need a hand with that?" he asked.

He didn't offer his own aid in the endeavor; if three people to a single door was a little bit of overkill, then four would be absolutely ridiculous. He halted his approach several feet back to leave more than enough room, clasping his own makeshift weapon loosely, as though not quite sure what to do with it. From this remove he studied the two teens. Neither looked very threatening upon initial assessment, though he didn't take that as reason enough to drop his guard. The same could have been said of him, and had been on more than one occasion.

Luckily, the first man seemed nice enough, and was even offering to help get the door open. Sora smiled at him, though he was also wondering what the pair hoped to find in the closet. If they were also after an extension cord, then there might be some trouble, but Sora got the feeling it wasn't the most sought-after item.
Both of the men had strange weapons with them, but it wasn't like Sora was one to judge. Either way, they weren't being mean, and so Sora saw no reason to turn away the offer.
"Yeah, sure! I mean, I could get it open on my own, but if you want to help..." He shrugged, not really sure how they should go about this now that there were a lot of them willing to give it a try. Though for now, he figured they should just focus on getting inside, and they could work out the details of who got what after that. He took comfort in the fact that they had been here first.

"Um... I can give it a try this time Sora, along with ah... this gentleman here; then neither one of us has to push ourselves too hard yet." There weren't even any monsters out so far and it was always a good idea to save one's strength.
"Besides," he tried offering a smile, even if it was only a small one, "wouldn't want you to have all the fun." He glanced at the man who'd offered to help, tilting his head toward the door as if to ask him to join in, then readied himself once again to make a run at it.

He backed off a few paces, not as far as the kids had. "The trick is to weaken it first, before you put your weight on it." Bracing himself, he landed a sharp kick just to one side of the lock. Then another, just above that. The door was starting to splinter.
He could've kept going, but the two boys were obviously eager to play hero. Indy stepped to one side. "You can smash it with a blunt object if your slippers aren't tough enough to kick. But don't waste your energy until you've laid some groundwork." He shot Pierson a glance intended to point out that there was a method to the madness, one that it probably wouldn't kill his roommate to learn. It would sure save Indy some bruises.

He thought he spied Jones shooting him a look, and contrived to look innocent and a little sheepish, though he didn't spare enough attention to look back to meet the other man's gaze. If his roommate had decided he was incapable instead of indifferent, he wasn't going to say otherwise and destabilize the image he'd already projected. Even if Jones' idea of what an academic was seemed broader than the usual definition, it would raise questions.

He knew how to kick doors, after all! He'd tried that method before, but as far as he could tell, it took a few hits no matter what way you went about it. On the other hand, the man did have a point, and so he nodded thankfully to the stranger to indicate that he'd listened.
After those two kicks, it looked like the door was almost done for, and so Sora glanced to Allen with an encouraging smile. "Want to finish it off?"
The second stranger was a bit more withdrawn, but it looked like he just wanted to make sure they didn't get ambushed or anything like that. That was fine - someone had to keep a lookout, after all. While Sora also thought they should go through introductions at some point, opening the door was top priority.
no subject
"Oh, yes, thank you sir," he nodded at the explanation and with Sora's offer to let him finish things, he supposed he ought to hurry and get on with it. No use keeping everyone waiting.
