Night 37: Main Hall 2-West

[from here]

Coming to a cross hallway, Falis stopped and knelt down again. In the darkness, she couldn't see where the hallway lead, nothing more than a few feet immediately in front of her. Unbeknown to her, the stairs she needed to go down to the first level were just to the right. Falis had the same feeling as she had back at that dead end, so she didn't think there was anything down that hallway.

Seeing some very faint light to the left, the hunter headed that way. Once she found light, she could get her bearings.

Celes had only thought of their crossing of the stairwell in hindsight, though there certainly hadn't been anything there of particular note. "The experimentation area should be just ahead," she took a quick glance behind her, reminding herself that her long legs carried her at a pace quite quickly, and that the boy might have been left behind on the stairs.

She'd taken off faster than he had expected, but he'd hurried to catch up with her. Having to run for a few minutes to keep pace didn't upset him, but once he was alongside her again he found himself watching Celes in case she might dash off again.

Looking around the hall, 'just ahead' seemed to cover a lot of possibilities. He hadn't been able to take the stairs during the day, but recognized the balcony that was visible overhead from the first floor. Still carrying flashlight and radio, he nodded at her glance, between looking around and trying to commit the area to memory. The radio was still silent, but she'd said they'd be saving people from experiments. He wondered what kind of experiments were performed here, and how long it would take for them to encounter a monster.

There was a cry of pain from the area below the balcony, and from just to their right, something that sounded unfamiliar. Celes paused, wrinkling her brow. Investigate, or carry on? If no one had yet been released, they could be waiting around for who knew how long. Celes kept walking though, boots clicking along the floor. "Straight ahead is that room. To the right, there is... there is the balcony that overlooks the sun room, and to the some other rooms."

Celes's mental map was foggy at best, as she'd spent the bulk of her time outdoors. "Considering the amount of noise that is coming from that walkway, we should keep on our path."

Looking straight ahead, he could clearly see three paths available. He had to assume that Celes meant the most direct route by their path, since he still wasn't sure where they were going.

The sounds of conflict were more comfortable, since they were a sort of a confirmation that this place had the threats otherwise described. So, more of the stories he'd heard turned out to be true, or at least partially true. Now, if the radio voice would talk to them, so they could complete their mission...
