Night 37: Main Hall 2-West

[from here]

Coming to a cross hallway, Falis stopped and knelt down again. In the darkness, she couldn't see where the hallway lead, nothing more than a few feet immediately in front of her. Unbeknown to her, the stairs she needed to go down to the first level were just to the right. Falis had the same feeling as she had back at that dead end, so she didn't think there was anything down that hallway.

Seeing some very faint light to the left, the hunter headed that way. Once she found light, she could get her bearings.

"Yeah, I know how that is." He was around Mogi a lot, after all; another quiet guy whose expression hardly ever changed. Kinda like Rude, except minus the awesome sunglasses. Still, for knowing the other guy, Elena was pretty nice. Pretty nice, and standing pretty close to him, and...was she flirting with him? He could get used to that.

"Sometimes. Fallen off a few buildings, chased a few criminals down. Usually ended up being pretty fun." After getting over the initial terror of oh god, I'm gonna die, of course. It wasn't so much that he liked to live dangerously as that he liked life and wanted to have fun, but he didn't want to leave it too early. "Just so long as it's not the same old thing every day, you know?"

He looked over at Rude when the guy spoke up. "Oh, um...I didn't really go anywhere past the hall where they do the experiments. I think I've heard people mention a janitor's closet, though, so maybe there. The experiment hall isn't that far from here, so maybe the other end of the building?" Then Matsuda turned back to Elena and tried to do his best imitation of Rude's wonderfully non-expressive face, followed up by a whispered, "Does he get out much back home?"

"Oh, the fun part is the chase, for sure. And knocking them out afterwards, but..."

Okay, this guy was definitely interesting enough to at least be a one night distraction. She had to hold back a laugh at his Rude imitation, and she whispered back, "Oh yeah. He's just the strong, silent type, is all. Has his own language and everything."

Really, the teasing was only because he hadn't bothered to even tell her what they were doing tonight. She assumed it involved more pieces for the bomb, but it was hard to tell with Rude sometimes.

She looked down at her newly acquired suit, glad that falling asleep in it wasn't enough to cause any wrinkles. If nothing else, the familiar feel of it helped in her confidence a little. And Matsuda seemed to kind of like her. Maybe tonight wouldn't be completely horrible.

SO much for making use of the guy. Well, he was cheering Elena up. Maybe Rude should have just had the two of them meet while he went off and actually did the damn work.

He looked up and down the hall, trying to recall the map.

The halls were so quiet you could hear a pin drop. And that wasn't just a useful description to try and set the mood. You literally could hear it. So whispering didn't do much to keep conversations private.

Rude was just quiet. Not deaf.

And what the hell did his social life have to do with anybody else? Turk's generally went about together (who else could they trust?) so it was never a cause for concern. Unless, you know, one of them kept disappearing after work because some damn girl-

Anyway. There was nothing wrong with Rude being the way he was. If there had been, he might have made an effort to change. But he'd given up on that when all the other kids decided they liked his build more than his personality. Not that anybody dared to pick on a geek with arms like his.

"We're going this way (http://community.livejournal.com/damned/525712.html?thread=42807184#t42807184")," he muttered.
