Night 37: Main Hall 2-West

[from here]

Coming to a cross hallway, Falis stopped and knelt down again. In the darkness, she couldn't see where the hallway lead, nothing more than a few feet immediately in front of her. Unbeknown to her, the stairs she needed to go down to the first level were just to the right. Falis had the same feeling as she had back at that dead end, so she didn't think there was anything down that hallway.

Seeing some very faint light to the left, the hunter headed that way. Once she found light, she could get her bearings.

TK stepped out into the hallway, checking the surrounding area quickly for hostiles before moving on, following the map he'd memorized.

The next hallway was, as near as he could tell, largely empty. It was much easier passing through it now with a light than it had been earlier, though the beam of the light picked out the occasional smears and splatters of his blood from that frantic escape. Brainiac 5 swallowed and looked away, instead choosing to focus on Clark's erratic progress ahead of him.

Thus far the Kryptonian had been having obvious difficulties controlling his powers and Brainiac 5 was beginning to worry that he might have asked the hero to do too much in making this run. But, judging from the occasional drips of fresh blood from Kvothe, they had little other choice.

He would just have to continue to observe Clark and hope that he didn't end up causing his closest friend to injure himself as well.

Angel peered briefly up the stairwell before continuing up them. He was about to tell Anya that he really didn't think there were any hidden messages in those articles, but decided that since she was so enthusiastic about looking, it wouldn't hurt to let her do so. He was quickly discovering that Anya needed to be occupied one way or another.

"I managed to speak to one woman in the bookstore," he said. "She wasn't too forthcoming with anything useful, but it'd be a good idea to try again." He glanced over his shoulder at the both of them. "Did either you find anything while you were there?"

It still smelled of blood and recent battle, but the boy who'd been hurt wasn't there any longer. She could only hope that was because his friends had made it to him in time. The stairs weren't much further either. She glanced back at Jiraiya, noticing Naruto had finally passed out. The rest would probably do him some good, though she didn't like the thought of things having been done to him, especially things she couldn't undo.

There were people here, and the smell of blood was heavy on the air. The bestial, primeval youkai within Yukari, the one that had briefly awakened during the earlier fight stirred at the scent, but in all honesty, Yukari was too tired to care.

There were some other patients in the hall, but they seemed busy with other things, so Yukari assumed whatever danger had caused the smell had since passed. Or gone somewhere else, judging by the sounds of struggle coming from one of the other hallways. Luckily, it wasn't the way they were going.

"Umm, it's down thataway," said Yukari, projecting her hand and the bent parasol in it a yard down the hall to point towards the far, far wall. "To the other side of the building and the last left. Then the end there." She paused to yawn again. "Or something like that."

She drew her arm back out of the gap, waiting to make sure Eva was still with her - and hadn't, say, wandered off somewhere else or was sneaking up to stab her in the back for fun - and see if she cared to take point. Leading was tiring. Walking was tiring. For a moment, Yukari rode the divide between conscious and unconscious, but it just wasn't the same. She couldn't feel the edge except with disturbingly human senses. And of course she couldn't manipulate it.

What a bother.

Evangeline hadn't shifted back to her older, more survival-oriented modes of behavior as easily as Yukari and turned her back to the woman without hesitation. Thought more like a child in her old age than she had in her youth... and right now, she was feeling impatient. Yukari was probably contributing to that, though.

"You're still coming," Evangeline said. The words had gone where a question would, and there was even a hint of a question in how she'd said them, but in the end they didn't really make any room for the possibility of refusal.

The girl bustled on ahead, down the long hall across the building.

As he spoke, Obi-Wan was careful not to lose focus on the task at hand (so far it seemed the hallways were lacking in monsters, thankfully enough), but he felt the situation was urgent enough to say something. He couldn't stay silent in good conscience, especially when Artemis was in such a condition.

"Healing isn't my specialty," he added, "but I may be able to use the Force to relax him and ease some of his wounds to a degree."

Bah. The Jedi seemed intent on sucking the fun out of everything--not that much about this situation was fun, but the prospect of some whiskey was at least pleasant--but Farfarello didn't feel like arguing about it. Shrugging, he mostly ignored the people behind him in favour of keeping alert for any attack. He did note Schuldig's comment, of course, but it wasn't like he had been going to say anything about the goody-two-shoes Captain anyway. "Whatever."

Schuldig rolled his eyes. "Well, since no one else has the balls to actually say what they're thinking, I'll do it. Farfie, your rare good intentions are noted, but I suspect Arty's going to wake up to more than enough problems tomorrow morning without adding a hangover - assuming he'd wake up at all, which wouldn't exactly be a safe bet when you throw alcohol on drugs and magic. I'm not even sure I'd trust painkillers, in retrospect. Obi-Wan's probably the best bet."
