Day 37: Intercom, Evening

"And I believe it's time to start wrapping up the day," was what the Head Doctor said after the intercom's initial jingle. "Now that everyone's all cleaned up, I think it's time for some... that's right, dinner!

"Tonight, we're serving some scrumptuous rotisserie herb chicken, seasoned with rosemary, lemon juice, and other delicious seasonings. On the side, we have cooked asparagus with bits of grilled onion, as well as small roasted potatoes with garlic and butter; for dessert, we'll be serving vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup on top. Our normal assorted drinks and specialized diet alternatives are available.

"Some of you might find that you have new roommates since your old ones were fortunate enough to recover and leave us. Hopefully, you'll be able to see them again the next time we have visitors if you wish, but in the meantime please treat your new bunkmates kindly.

"I believe that's all for now. I hope you had a wonderful day and that you have a delicious dinner! ...Well, you'll definitely be having a delicious dinner, but there's nothing surprising about that, is there? Hahaha..."

With a seemingly good-natured chuckle, the Head Doctor turned off his mic.

With a shriek of anger, the wolf-girl lost all sense of reason and raked her fingers towards the other girl's face.

The nurse was already coming down the hall - Miss Blenn was going to be having some private treatment tonight - but she heard the commotion, and quickly motioned for orderlies to follow.

"Miss Pearson! We understand that you must be disoriented, waking up in Landel's Institute so late in the day. But I'm sure Miss Blenn was just being friendly. There was no reason to attack her!" Her words were soothing, but stern. As she spoke, the nurse prepared a syringe full of sedatives. Once the syringe was ready, she nodded to the orderlies. They took San by the arms, carefully prying her fingers away from Yukari's face, and once she was safely restrained, the nurse injected the sedatives into her arm.

After San had been dealt with, the nurse turned to Yukari. "Are you all right, Kara?" She moved close, checking for injuries. It looked as if they had arrived just in time, and the girl didn't seem seriously injured.

"All right. It's time to go, Kara. You're being taken for Special Counseling. Are you ready?"

[Sorry for name fail! It was late when I posted. And this is Jen.]

And just in the nick of time, some nurse heard the noise, busted in and pried the other girl away before anything more could happen. Yukari would swear this was some ridiculous game between the nurses: would they interfere, or no? If so, how long would they wait? The bigger question was why were they deciding to do this to her again?

Yukari was still visibly shaken up by the time the nurse turned to her, asking about her well being. It was one thing walking into a room knowing you might (well, would, in her previous cases) be attacked-- it was another when you weren't expecting it. It took her a moment to respond as she tried to regain her composure and her breath, but eventually Yukari managed a tiny, half-hearted nod, staring ahead at the scene before her.

She didn't jerk her head back up until another pause, this time with a series of confused expressions on her face. Did she just say...?

Realization hit, and suddenly Yukari slid backwards some on the bed, her eyes becoming wide again. Special Counseling... Ohhhh no, no, no; she'd heard about it enough-- and witnessed a moment or so-- and she knew exactly what this meant. As if it would help any she answered anyway, "I- I think I'm fine. I'd rather stay here."

Before San even had a chance to realize what was happening, her attack was yielded by more humans rushing at her. Being handled and repressed by the strangers, she let out a scream, as the new woman addressing her came at her with a strange looking weapon. San felt a sharp sting, and words, anger, and panic all swirled and blended together before a heaviness covered her mind and everything faded away.

The nurse motioned for the orderlies to put San on her bed. She could sleep off the sedatives, and would hopefully be calmer when she woke. That matter settled, she turned her attention back to Yukari again.

"Kara. It's time to go. This time, I'm not asking nicely." The nurse prepared a second syringe, this time one of short-acting sedatives, just enough to calm her down a tiny bit. "I don't want to have to use this - you're a good girl. But we can't have you fighting this..."

With that, she injected the sedatives into the girl's arm, and gently led her out of the room.

"No, I--"

She couldn't finish, though, not before she felt a tiny prick on her arm. It was enough to cut her off as she gasped some, but before Yukari could try to resist or anything, suddenly she was feeling her body fall into a tired slump.

Yukari had seen what the sedatives do, although she never expected to get them herself. Now she could say they really were terrible, at least when she knew she hadn't even done anything wrong... Of course, that didn't matter. Now she was as helpless as ever, and resistance was definitely a futile attempt.
