Day 37: Intercom, Evening

"And I believe it's time to start wrapping up the day," was what the Head Doctor said after the intercom's initial jingle. "Now that everyone's all cleaned up, I think it's time for some... that's right, dinner!

"Tonight, we're serving some scrumptuous rotisserie herb chicken, seasoned with rosemary, lemon juice, and other delicious seasonings. On the side, we have cooked asparagus with bits of grilled onion, as well as small roasted potatoes with garlic and butter; for dessert, we'll be serving vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup on top. Our normal assorted drinks and specialized diet alternatives are available.

"Some of you might find that you have new roommates since your old ones were fortunate enough to recover and leave us. Hopefully, you'll be able to see them again the next time we have visitors if you wish, but in the meantime please treat your new bunkmates kindly.

"I believe that's all for now. I hope you had a wonderful day and that you have a delicious dinner! ...Well, you'll definitely be having a delicious dinner, but there's nothing surprising about that, is there? Hahaha..."

With a seemingly good-natured chuckle, the Head Doctor turned off his mic.

"Haha, I guess he is sometimes," Yuuhi admitted, taking another bite of his food. The green veggies smelled a little bit funny, but they tasted okay. "But he looks out for everyone, even if he'd never admit to it."

"That's okay, me either," he shrugged. Earth seemed like an alright place. He knew little to nothing about the actual geography, just that Tokyo was a part of it somewhere.

He sounded a little like Lockon in the looking after people part, although Lockon was open enough about that. He was their field leader after all, and seemed to have set himself up as big brother to all of them, Setsuna in particular.

"Where do you come from originally?" Allelujah asked curiously. "I've been to Earth, but I spend most of my time in space."

"Mm, well I don't know if you'd have heard of it," Yuuhi shrugged. He didn't like talking about his own world, avoided it whenever he could. Tonight was no different, though one couldn't tell simply by his expressions or body language. For the first time in a while he looked more or less at ease.

"I spend most of my time traveling though, so it's hard to really pin it down to just one place," he added, hoping that was enough to sate Allie's curiosity.

"Probably not," Allelujah admitted with a wry smile. "I only know about my world. There isn't any kind of travel like you've said that you've done." And even with only one world, people still wouldn't take care of what they had. He dreaded to think of the wars which could occur if people could travel freely to other worlds.

"That sounds like fun," he replied. "Must be nice to see lots of places. I'm usually cooped up on the Ptolemaios."

"Traveling can be fun," Yuuhi agreed. "It depends on who you go with too I think." While he'd known about the journey long before it happened, it was still enjoyable most of the time, which was what made it difficult. Separating himself from the group as much as he could was a trick to be sure.

He finished up his meal and set it aside, wondering if he really needed anything for the night. Oh! Pillowcase would be good. Usually he just carried as much as he could, but that might not be enough for Homura.

However, he was quite surprised when he threw back the sheets to find something aside from the pillows, folded neatly on his bed.

"Haha-" he let out a short, somewhat nervous laugh. The clothing he'd first worn on his journey, the clothing from Celes was just sitting there on his bed, leaving him to scratch his head and wonder how it'd gotten there. The last world they'd been to, Rekord, hadn't had these clothes. He'd traded them quite a while ago to fit in with some of the other worlds. So how exactly had someone tracked them down, and why had they put them here?

"Yes, I guess so," Allelujah agreed with a slight smile. "I liked it when I was on earth with my... the people I worked with. We spent a lot of time on an island in the tropics." He still wasn't sure if he could count them as friends sometimes. Could you be friends with someone who's real name and past you didn't even know?

We don't need anyone else.

He scowled briefly at Hallelujah's words but ignored him, looking over at Fai again when the man gave a short laugh.

"Is something wrong?" He stood up, crossing over to Fai's side of the room and spotting the clothing. "Those are..." Clothing, and not the Institute's either. But... that meant that someone had been in their room during the day.

Yuuhi was baffled by the clothing. Was it a trick? Or a gift? Or something else entirely? He'd seen some of the other patients walking around in other costumes at night, but he hadn't really thought much of it.

"Ah... this is one of the outfits I used to wear before I got here," Yuuhi explained, not sure if it would make any sense. "But I don't have a clue how it got here, or why. Your guess is as good as mine." He picked up the white tailored shirt with long embroidered coat-tails.

Allelujah shifted uncomfortably, glancing towards the door warily. After a moment, he walked over to his bed and peered beneath it. No, all of the chemicals and glassware and even the scalpels were still there. How strange.

He turned back to Fai, going to look at the clothing again. "It couldn't be a nurse," he said. "They never seem to check anything being hidden anyway." Which was confusing, like they wanted people to be able to fight. It was odd clothing though, very different to what Allelujah had seen before. "You came from a cold place?"

"Hnn," he said in quiet agreement. It didn't follow any kind of logic, and he could tell it made his roommate uncomfortable. Maybe it was some kind of reward for good behavior? Maybe the time witch had sent it? There were so many maybes and so few answers.

"I... yes. It... it always snowed there." He tried not to look as bothered as he felt, and put on a smile. "Maybe they're just being nice? Did you get your clothes back too Allie?"

Snow huh? "I've never seen snow," Allelujah said with a shrug. "I can see why you'd need the coat though." It looked very warm after all and would probably blend in with the surroundings a little.

Nice? He raised an eyebrow at that. The idea of someone who worked here being ncie was very strange to him, but he went over to the closet and opened it, then checked the drawers. "No. There's nothing of mine here," he replied. He didn't own very much in the way of clothing to be honest. "Maybe you have a friend here."
