Day 36: Intercom, Evening

The intercom's jingle rang out and the somewhat uninhibited movement that was going on between the main activity rooms halted as the Head Doctor made one of his usual announcements.

"Good evening everyone, and I'm very pleased to see so many of you in such high spirits after meeting with your loved ones! However, like with all good things, it can't last forever, so I ask now for nurses to escort our patients in the waiting rooms and in the main areas back to their rooms, where they will be treated with a special Sunday... steak! That's right: today, we'll be serving juicy, delicious steak with fries and cooked vegetables on the side – simple enough for everyone to like and good enough for everyone to thoroughly enjoy! (Our patients with specialized diets will receive their alternate meals, of course.) Our usual beverages are available, and for dessert, we'll be serving warm slices of apple pie.

"After all, patients, t's always wonderful to see all of you cooperating with the staff even when given so much freedom, so I'd like to personally thank and congratulate all of you for helping us, your family, and more importantly, yourselves. Hopefully, we can help you to a speedy recovery so that you can see your loved ones more often, but first... dinner! I hope to speak with you all again soon."

The intercom clicked off.

[ All room threads go in response to this post; please post your character's room number as the subject line of the initial post. Thank you!

On an added note, just wanted to clarify to players of characters who are canonly vegetarians and the like that you get to decide (within reasonable and realistic limits) what kind of diet your character gets from the staff. :3 ]

Leon didn't particularly care what Clark thought of him--it wasn't so much that he'd put their fight behind him as that he tended to fight with a lot of people he still needed to work with, so he was accustomed to just working around it.

"I have to collect metal for a sword." Leon held up his mangled right hand and smiled ruefully. "But as you can see, I'm in a bit of a pinch if a monster comes while I'm carrying it--I've only got one strong hand."

"So you want me to help carry your stuff," Clark said.

Well, at least he was forward about it. Thinking about it, Clark couldn't see a reason why he should say no - just because he had one fight with his roomie didn't mean it was the end of the world and since he was here, he'd rather get along with him than be arguing with him. Maybe helping him out would smooth things between them? Clark shrugged.

"Okay, sure, I guess."

"I appreciate it." Which wasn't quite a thank you, but it was still progress for Leon, who was much more accustomed to giving orders than asking favours. But to finally get a sword? He would even say 'please' if it had come to that. A sword would make up for a lot. "Hopefully we won't run into anything, but I'd rather be more cautious in this hellhole."

Clark hoped so too. It wasn't like he was entirely defenseless, but his powers weren't very reliable and could be as dangerous to them as to any monsters.

"Me too. Do you know where we're going to get this stuff?" Clark asked. He was glad they weren't fighting, even if Leon was still not exactly friendly.

Leon was as well-armed as one could be without actually seeing any of the "cooks" yet--he had a knife and a makeshift spear, which were not weapons he was fully trained in but they were a great deal better than bare hands, especially when one was not exactly built like a labourer. Still, a battle avoided was the best option of all, and he could only hope that his recent luck would hold until he finally had a sword.

"The pipes in the bathrooms are the usual collection spot, I gather. There and the upstairs storage rooms, but those are usually picked over fairly quickly." At least in Leon's experience.

[I guess we'll move the thread to nightshift now?]

"The bathrooms are probably safer since they're closer," Clark said, thinking it over. He didn't exactly have a good experience with going upstairs and wasn't too keen on getting a repeat - he'd lucked out somehow with the Chapel and whatever healed him, but he couldn't count on it happening twice. Clark tried not to sound too nervous.
