Nightshift 35: West Wing, South Hall 1-A

[Coming from here]

So they still had to deal with one of the brainwashed patients tonight; the rest were being carted off for experimentation. Something had changed in the routine. There'd been a pattern earlier, one night to those "trials", the others for the brain-washed patients. But tonight was different for some reason.

So what made it change?

Sanzo was suspicious of sudden change, mostly because it always signaled something was up.

Was it because of that "Jill" pissing Landel off? Or just pure whim?

Whatever the reason, it wouldn't do the patients any favors.

"I'm fine," Hikaru told Kaoru irritably, kneeling next to his brother. "You're the one who looks like he's about to decorate the hall with his dinner." Damn it. He thought they'd gotten beyond this! He thought Kaoru would actually eat and get better now.

Before he had time to chastise him any further, though, their mysterious benefactor came running to meet them. "We're okay. Thanks." He really meant it, for once. Maybe they'd tease this guy later, but for right now he was genuinely grateful.

"Yeah, same. Don't blame you--hey. You're that guy from the showers. The one that was going all submissive slaveboy on the other kid."

WHat was with the attitude all of a sudden?

"Oh geez, dinner. Don't bring that up right now, ok?" he pleaded, though he couldn't resist that one little joke.

Kaoru used his brother to get to his feet and rubbed his face. Great, now the rescuer was gonna think he was always this weak or somethi-

Kaoru snorted. And then laughed, unsure why it was so funny that the guy who had rescued them was the one from the showers.

"Thanks," he snickered, wiping away a tear. "Really. I wouldn't have taken you for the, er, valiant sort." He wasn't trying to be horrible. Every word he said was the truth. Guys who tried to wash other guys didn't generally rush in a place, throwing spells at rats and rescuing innocent people. Oh wait, the twins weren't innocent. But his reasoning still stood.

Shadow looked a bit confused, unsure of what they meant until he remembered how he'd knelt in front of Keman in the showers, the brainwashed servant trying to thoroughly clean his master. He laughed, shaking his head. "So you saw that, eh?" he snickered. "It's not exactly what you think, not that I wouldn't seduce someone in the showers that way but, it's a long story. I wasn't really myself that day and I was trying to clean my friend. I know, I know. It looked bad. But, I'm back to normal now. Promise. No more encounters in the shower... not unless that person truly wants it."

Shadow gave the two boys a wink before glancing over his shoulder. "Seems as though the cat has given up on us. At least there is that."

[identity profile] totallytheseme.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Hikaru's eyebrow was so high on his forehead that it almost hurt. "Trying to clean your friend," he repeated incredulously. "Right." But, for the most part, this guy wasn't that bad. He'd saved them from the scary monsters, and he even had the good sense to joke with them about what had happened in the shower. "Next time you try to go all bow chicka bow wow on us, do it when you're alone, 'kay?" What did he mean that he hadn't been himself, anyway? Maybe he'd just been really horny that day?

Hikaru leaned against Kaoru, letting his brother use him for support while he laughed himself silly. "There is that," he agreed, only a little sarcastically. "So...guess introductions are probably in order. I'm Hikaru. My clone's name is Kaoru."

[identity profile] hangenki.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Kaoru's expression was, well, the double of Hikaru's. He turned it to his brother slightly, portraying the thought that there were a lot of perverts at Landels. As though they were completely innocent.

But the guy seemed nice enough. And magical, which was beginning to sink in, finally.

Kaoru smiled and waved as he was introduced. "Not bad for a scientific experiment, am I?" He wondered how many people he could fool by telling them Hikaru was some sort of child genius (which was wasn't THAT far from being, he was just surrounded by other smart kids) who had created a clone.

"What are you, exactly?"

[identity profile] valyns-shadow.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Shadow didn't know what they meant by 'clone' but he figured it might be another word for twin. He had seen twins before. There had been a pair in Lord Dyran's harem who were very talented though thinking about them made Shadow remember Dyran and that was a bad thought.

"I'm a halfblood," Shadow said. "Which means my father was an elf and my mother was human. As for my name you can call me Shadow. Everyone does."

[identity profile] totallytheseme.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"I grew him in third grade," Hikaru added knowledgeably. Going with the clone thing would be fun. But...this guy wasn't really going for it.

And then he dropped the bomb.

"An elf." This guy claimed to be half elf. Well, his ears were kind of pointy, but...what the hell? "...Well then. Nice to meet you, Legolas."

[identity profile] hangenki.livejournal.com 2008-09-29 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Warts and all," Kaoru continued, even if the guy didn't get it. They might as well practice their new routine on him.

If Kaoru hadn't seen the great ball of fire, or whatever it was, he'd have probably doubted the guy even more. Although he did, very obviously, tilt to the side and take a look at the guys ears.

"Elen sila lumenn omentilmo," he grinned, elbowing his brother should he dare pipe up. Kaoru had wanted, a long time ago, for the twins to speak only in Elven languages. It was a good plan and would have kept people out, but Hikaru had grown bored of learning them long before Kaoru had.

[It means "A star shall shine on the hour of our meeting", apparently (http://www.grey-company.org/Circle/language/phrase.htm)...]

[identity profile] valyns-shadow.livejournal.com 2008-10-07 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Shadow gave them both a strange look, not at all understanding what they were talking about. "I... don't know who this Legolas is. If he's claiming to be an elf I don't know what sort of House he's from."

He paused, glancing between the twins as he struggled to figure out what it was that he was missing. "Do... do humans grow other humans in your world?"

[identity profile] totallytheseme.livejournal.com 2008-10-07 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
"I think he's a wood elf. That's what the movie said, anyway." Hikaru was decidedly less nerdy than his brother. He also had no idea what a House was, but it was probably something pseudo-fantasyish that this guy had deluded himself into believing. Hikaru had seen some crazy shit here, but elves? Kind of took the cake.

"Maybe they do. Maybe Kaoru sprung fully formed from my rib."

[identity profile] hangenki.livejournal.com 2008-10-07 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Probably Gryffindor," Kaoru added, helpfully. How many different sorts of Elves were there in the worlds of Literature, crazy and...what else did Landel's have? Manga. Wow. Wait. What did that make THEM? Sane, hopefully.

Kaoru stuck a finger in his mouth and made a 'pop' as he pulled it out. "Just like that."

He looked up the coriddor, nervously for a moment. He couldn't hear the cats. Or anything else nearby.

[identity profile] valyns-shadow.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Shadow knew when his leg was being pulled and these two were definitely on their way to yanking it off. "Alright, alright," Shadow laughed, holding his hands up. "Enough. I'm not sure what you both are doing but as long as you're amusing yourselves at my expense, then have at it. In the meantime, we should probably move to a room. Where were you two headed before I ran into you?"

[identity profile] totallytheseme.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Hikaru raised an eyebrow. "We still don't know that you're not some sort of psycho stalker pervert with a twin fetish," he pointed out sagely. "So why should we tell you?" Barring the fact that Shadow could apparently do magic and save them from ravenous cat monsters, of course. As far as Hikaru could tell, the other boy had basically earned their trust. The teasing now was just a formality.

But it was sure as hell a fun one.

"You did try to 'clean' your friend."
