Day 32: Intercom, Evening

The intercom clicked on and the Head Doctor spoke with his usual fervor.

"Good evening, patients and staff! I am pleased to announce that the arrival of nearly all of our new patients will conclude this shift. In addition, we have a very delicious dinner in store for you: carved Turkey with a side of mashed potatoes and steamed, seasoned vegetables. For drinks, we have our usual assortment available, and as a dessert included with your dinner, we will be serving a slice of warm apple pie with each meal.

"I trust that those of you enjoying the company of new roommates will give them a warm Landel's welcome, and I also hope that those of you who participated in therapy today were able to find a productive time with their doctors.

"That's all for now! Enjoy dinner, everyone!"

The intercom clicked off again.

[ Please respond to this post with all dinner shift threads between roommate, putting your character's respective room in the subject line. While we have none scheduled for this shift at this time: all introduction posts for this shift's group of new characters should be made in response to this post; the introduction may then continue on to be a regular roommate thread. ]

Meeting with Subaru had been helpful. Now he knew what to look for and had an option for just where to look. He'd have to decide what to do concerning that after he managed to find the Princess's room though.

Sitting down to eat, he expected another quiet night since that "Seishirou" hadn't appeared during the day either. Just where he'd disappeared to, he didn't know, but the Shinobi could only think "good riddance" for it.

Ugh, he was glad that the shift had ended. It meant no more dealing with Kratos (unless he met him during the night, but he really hoped that wouldn't happen) so he was happy to follow his nurse to his room. He took note of the number before the nurse lightly pushed him in. He looked to the other bed and saw that he had a roommate (and oh woe! he was a guy), who looked sort of like the serious type.

Well, if they were gonna have to be stuck with each other like this, then it would do to antagonize him too much.

"Yo~ I'm Zelos. Looks like we're roomies, eh?"

Kurogane stopped fighting with the fork (that he was gradually getting better at using) the moment the door moved open and another was pushed in. There went his quiet evening alone again. But at least this one didn't look like anyone who'd tried to kill members of his group before. That counted for something.

"Ah," he said simply, red eyes watching the other for any traces of hostility. Just because they were "roomies" as the other had said did not make them instant allies. Kurogane never trusted someone he'd just met; he even had problems trusting some of those in his own group still. And besides that, he could sense something about this one that kept him on his guard. "Kurogane," he said after a while as an introduction.

Uh...okay. He felt the guy eying him and after a bit, he finally introduced himself. Zelos felt a bit uneasy, but kept his strides confident and walked over to his side of the room, where there was a tray of food sitting around. He sat down and started eating in silence.

Awkward.

Think of something to say.......

"...So uh, you from Mizuho or something?"

Well, it was better than nothing, anyways.

Kurogane kept his guard up through watching Zelos enter, sit down and eat his own food. Roommate or not, Kurogane did not care for someone unfamiliar and refused to leave himself open as a result of that mistrust.

"Never heard of it," he said simply, then went back to eating as well. He didn't need to watch constantly. If Zelos did anything, he'd know.

...

Maybe he shouldn't have bothered at all. At first Zelos was tempted to try and annoy the other guy, but it would be crappy to get beat up on his first day just because he was bored. He quickly finished his dinner and flopped down on the bed.

...Ow.

Feeling the lump under his pillow, Zelos pulled out the flashlight. Find the switch, he flicked it on and off experimentally before shrugging and stuffing it back under the pillow. He lay down with his back facing Kurogane.

"G'night."

Hopefully he'd get in a good nap.

Kurogane looked up when the other laid down. Pretty laid back considering that he was in the same situation of not knowing who he was rooming with. He snorted an acknowledgment of the words, then continued eating. He liked the silence even if he was forced to be with someone. If he'd been stuck with Fai, there would have been no silence to speak of.
