Nightshift 31: M1-10 Hallway
[From here.]
[Specifically outside M1]
Nope, no one here either.
Axel sighed loudly. It wasn’t like he wanted to frolic around with two dozen or so people scrambling about, but he didn’t want to become bait for anything that was hiding in the corners either. He didn’t have much of a choice in the matter, but someone was bound to crawl out of their rooms at some point.
It didn’t take long to reach the end of the hall, but he made no move to knock at Roy’s door. It looked like the guy was expecting a few visitors and he was pretty sure that he wasn’t one of them. Nah, all he had to do was wait for the rest of his teammates to arrive, drop off whatever they gathered up and off they’d go.
Leaning his weapon against the wall, Axel followed suit and nestled back against the hard surface.

And as much as he’d like to, Ren knew better than to get pulled in too many directions. The "emergency" announcement coupled with the Head Doctor's later message was curious, but with such limited abilities, his capacity for superhuman multitasking was at an all time low… which was something he didn’t exactly want to get used to. Better to meet up with Ojou first and see what she had to say.

M6
He secured his knives on himself, picked up the books, and slipped out into the hallway.

Re: M6
Fortunately, Ashton's room wasn't all that far from where they needed to be, so it was only a minute's walk from one room to the other, with little opportunity for anything to attack them. And a man - presumably the Hughes they were meant to meet - was waiting at the door.
"You're Hughes?" Dias inquired, without preamble. It seemed logical enough; he'd seen the man before, usually around the colonel, and that made it all the more likely he was someone involved in Roy's plans. If they'd ever been introduced, however, it had been long enough ago - even a week previous seemed like a lifetime - that Dias had forgotten.

He kept his flashlight off as he bolted to the end of the hallway.

M2
He'd made no concrete plans for this night, but he was tired of getting nothing accomplished. He would find his brother, and then their father. He was feeling impatient and restless tonight, and the anticipation showed in his hurried pace.

Thoroughly ignoring his roommate now that nightshift had begun, Kadaj went around his half of the room collecting what he needed for the night (radio, flashlight, and sword) before going straight for the door. He decided to leave the things he'd gathered last night behind, having no interest in delivering those stupid books to that stupid blond and not feeling particularly enthusiastic about hauling an umbrella around, either. Why had he thought it was a good idea to steal it again? Oh well. He'd find some use for it sooner or later.
Adjusting the gladius's position on his back slightly, he stepped outside, shut the door behind him and began stalking down the hall. Where, oh, where should he go tonight? He wasn't sure. Perhaps he would just make things up as he went. He didn't think Mother would have approved of that method, but he was sure that if he met someone along the way and got along with them like she'd told him to, it would be perfectly all right. Better than staying with just one group, too, right? Mother had to agree.

Still, if he was right, did that mean that something was going on with the corpse he had seen? Maybe someone was trying to steal it away? That was kind of gross, but maybe there was someone out there who didn't want the radio man's body held in this place he had been trying to take down.
As the announcement continued and the head doctor showed his true colors, Sora tried to follow along. While he didn't know who the man was addressing, it definitely sounded like someone had gone after that corpse.
But when the intercoms switched off, Sora knew that he couldn't delay. Zuko was quick to leave and Sora followed suit, grabbing his flashlight as he headed into the hall. He didn't turn the light on just yet, figuring he could navigate the block hallways by other patients' lights rather than wasting batteries. Without hesitation, Sora headed down the hall.

M1
"Anise" would be coming by to drop something off for him, "II" was going to be around at some point to have the bow and arrow made, and then Jade was apparently going to drop by to get some starter alchemy lessons. The man hadn't actually responded to his post, but then again, Roy had written it up rather late in the shift. Hopefully the man had caught it, since Roy wouldn't be pleased if he ended up staying in his room all night for no reason.
Knives managed to sleep through the loud announcement that came on, and the head doctor was rambling at usual. It sounded like things had gone wrong for the man yet again, though Roy didn't know who this Jill woman he was referring to was. It all seemed to get more and more complicated, and Roy didn't seem if there was much point to keeping up with it.
He sighed when the announcement ended, sitting on his bed as he waited for the first visitor to arrive.
Re: M1
As much as he wanted to approach Ion and see him through the usual set of questions, Jade knew there was a time and place for everything. Fortunately, he saw no need to crowd around the Colonel's room instead of just inviting himself inside. Watching Anise skip over to the group in question he walked up to the latter's door and gave a brisk knock.
"Roy? It's Jade, and I've brought Anise with me."
Re: M1
Shrugging to himself, the alchemist drew up from the bed and headed over to the door, sending the other colonel a professionally friendly smile. "Glad to see you got my message. Please, come in," he said, drawing back to make room for the man to enter.

Outside M1
Ion moved quickly, stepping once again into his familiar robe, grabbing a light and carefully taking the case off of his pillow to place the maps in. And the Colonel's room was M1 - which should be right outside!
When Ion poked his head out of his already empty room, he looked both ways through the gloom, hoping to check for any danger. Nothing, from what his flimsy torch showed. Ion moved to his left, counting down the doors until he arrived at M1, quietly nestled in the corner. A man was standing outside the door, clothed in a curious-looking coat.
"Hello!" he said brightly to the red-haired man, moving to smile in front of him. "You don't happen to be Axel, by any chance?"
Re: Outside M1
People sure liked to take their time, didn't they?
Axel sighed for what felt like the nineteenth time within the past 5 minutes, too caught up inside his own mental woes to notice the figure in white approach him until the latter spoke up. He blinked once before gazing down at the other patient, taking the time to study the latter's duds before grinning.
"You betcha." Axel replied, letting his hands rest on his hips. He sure hit it lucky with a cute girl!
"And you're Anise, right?"
Re: Outside M1
It figured that the room they were trying to get to would be the one farthest from the block entrance. Eager to be rid of the excess baggage, Anise skipped ahead of the Colonel, down towards the end of the hall.
When she spotted the Fon Master from about halfway, she raised her right arm and gave a slightly awkward - but enthusiastic as ever! - wave with the pipe. "Ion!" she called.
It looked like he was with some shady-looking guy, who was probably their third member for the night. Axel, was it? Weird name, though she'd definitely heard weirder by now. Once she caught up, she gave them both a friendly smile. No matter who the guy was, it was always important to make a good first impression! "You didn't wait long, did you?" she asked.

M3
Mello set the radio to the frequency L had assigned him, grumbling a low profanity as he did so. He positioned it beside him and leaned back on his thin mattress, pushing his feet against the wall behind the headboard and folding his arms behind his head. He'd never modified a radio like this before, but he refused to consider the possibility that he might have made a mistake. After taking a few seconds to clear his thoughts, he moved one arm from beneath his head and jammed his thumb onto the power switch.
"Anyone there?" he asked the black speaker.
Re: M3
"No problem," Mello said in a tone that radiated indifference, though he was glad L didn't realize how long it had taken him to modify the radio. For an instant, a very uncharacteristic sense of self-doubt washed over him. How could he have a conversation like this, after so many years? Where could he begin?
And although he understood that L's comment on the message board had been information disguised as a rebuke, he predicted he'd still end up being lectured for his bulletin board spat with Artemis. Fantastic.
Mello gnawed on his fingertips as he stared at the bland ceiling over his bed. "Did you make it to the file room last night?" he asked. Hopefully, a conversation about the institute would steel him for the inevitable questions about what occurred after L's death, and for pragmatic reasons, he needed to know what the doctors believed about him before he was pulled in for therapy.
Re: M3
Mello frowned as he continued to focus on the dark shadows that made up the ceiling. There wasn't much that L couldn't do...at least, that was what he'd grown up believing. Something bad must have happened. "Did you run into monsters?" he asked. L had seemed fine earlier in the day, but he hadn't seen much of Misora or any of L's sword-or-knife-or-whatever roommate.
“You seemed to have had success. I was quite surprised, considering the amount of time we had left last night. How did you manage?”
"It wasn't pretty," Mello admitted. Normally, he might have hidden his methods, but L's difficulty made it hard for him to resist the urge to brag. "Most of the rooms were useless, and the one that might have been useful was...well, filled with people who didn't want me there. People trying to make explosives and chemical weapons. Luckily, I knew more about the shit than they did. I think I'll work with them."
Mello took a deep breath and closed his eyes as a self-satisfied grin spread over his face. "I couldn't ask them for anything, since they already figured I was a thief, so I tried the clinic next. You wouldn't believe how incompetent those people are." Talking so much was a rarity for the young man, but it wasn't often that he'd rather impress someone than use them. "After that, enough people owed me favors that no one was upset about me pocketing a pair of scissors." It was a slight exaggeration, but even if L didn't believe it, he'd expect a bit of embellishment from Mello. "I'll probably head there again tonight. Seems like the best way to start off."
He still wasn't sure what his end goal would be, but he knew he'd need to be as indispensable as possible.

Quietly, the Jackal slipped out the door to meet with his companions.

M10
Had he...had he fucking overslept?!
Oh, brilliant.
Within one minute, he'd grabbed his pillowcase of stolen goods and darted out into the halls. He had no idea what time it was, but he knew that it wasn't nearly enough for what he wanted to do.
