Day 30: Cafeteria, Dinner

The cafeteria was all but empty when Zelnick got there. He was a little disappointed; he had gotten the impression that patients usually ate dinner in their rooms, so he hadn't arranged to meet anyone, and there really wasn't anyone to sit by and engage in conversation yet.

Quietly, he collected dinner and a big glass of orange juice, and chose a seat near the food-serving counters. Talking for so long had made him thirsty... and, well, fruit juice was a luxury he had missed.

While Anise might have preferred to dine with a good-looking man instead, she didn't exactly object to the company of the girl who was seated across from her. With a friendly grin, she replied, "Not at all! It's pretty boring to eat alone, anyway." Anise was a social butterfly, after all. She couldn't stand the thought of having too much quiet and solitude in a day. And right before the start of the night, a chat was always good to keep the tension from building too high.

Relena herself would have preferred to dine with a familiar face, but Quatre was already engaged, and Duo and Heero had yet to make an appearance today. But she was determined to make the most of her latest companion. "I suppose any company is better than no company at all."

She poked at her food more than she actually ate, but she had to remind herself that she would need the energy later on that night.

Did that mean cute little Anise's company was only marginally better than none at all? Boooo.

"Today sure has been hectic, huh? With that riot and all," she commented, trying to make conversation while keeping that bit of spite to herself. It was possible that the stranger didn't mean anything by it, and even if she did, it was best to stay friendly and avoid any conflicts before nightfall.
