Day 30: Cafeteria, Dinner

The cafeteria was all but empty when Zelnick got there. He was a little disappointed; he had gotten the impression that patients usually ate dinner in their rooms, so he hadn't arranged to meet anyone, and there really wasn't anyone to sit by and engage in conversation yet.

Quietly, he collected dinner and a big glass of orange juice, and chose a seat near the food-serving counters. Talking for so long had made him thirsty... and, well, fruit juice was a luxury he had missed.

[Stalk away, my dearest Admiral. <3 ]

The shift had ended before Leon had gotten the chance to ask Gin what his room number was. That was no good. He'd have to find the man again and get it from him if he was going to be able to help him with his radio issues.

He sighed, flopping down with his dinner. It didn't look all that appealing except for the corn, so he started on that. The good thing was he didn't have any of those hulking orderlies around his table. He didn't know how he'd be able to stand eating with those men watching over his shoulder.

This place thrived on confusion, Fayt decided as he was led through the food line. That had to be what gave 'Martin Landel' so much power on top of whatever he had to begin with--and the place was thriving, to say the least. Fayt frowned, allowing his nurse to lead him to a table as he thought through what Albel had tried to explain. He would have to find Albel again...

"Oh, I'm sorry," he said, seeing a young boy sitting at the table his nurse had chosen. "Do you mind if I sit here?"

"Not at all!" Leon answered, quickly brightening his expression for the sake of his visitor. The boy had blue hair like he did. Not that this was too out of the ordinary in this place, but it was still less common than he was used to.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance," he nodded briefly. "Are you new?" He may have seen him around before, but he wasn't sure.

There was no way to explain how relieved Fayt was to actually find someone who wasn't scowling just at the sight of him. He had been beginning to think there was some other force embedded into him, maybe something that immediately put everyone within proximity into a bad mood.

It was nice to be proven wrong occasionally.

"Yeah, I just arrived this morning," Fayt replied. "My name's Fayt Leingod."

"Leon Geeste," the young mage replied with a grin. "How's that spelled? Is it really 'fate' as in destiny? It's nice either way." A new patient, was it? Leon just hoped a lot of the young man's questions had been answered already so that he wouldn't have to go over them.

"I hope you've allied with someone for this evening. Have you?" It would be wrong not to check, after all. No one should wander the Institute alone.

"F-a-y-t," he replied back. "And I guess you can consider it that way, my parents were really into symbolism, I guess." That was the only reasoning Fayt could come up with because Maria and Sophia at least got lucky enough to have normal names. Unless 'Maria' or 'Sophia' referred to something he didn't know of.

"Are you worried about the monsters?" Fayt asked. The kid was nice, better than Roger was when they first met. In fact, there really was no comparison. "I think I have someone, he might have other plans, though." He would have to find Albel again...

"You should always be worried about the monsters," Leon pointed out (literally, as he had one index finger aimed in Fayt's direction), "because you never know what sort you're going to find, and everyone's abilities are all but removed here." The boy himself had a small group of friends to fall back on, but he knew there were many others not in such a nice situation.

"If he does have other plans, you should stick with me. There are others from my world here." Well, some alternate versions of his world, but that wasn't worth getting into right now. He felt a bit important being the one to invite someone for a change. He was sure the others wouldn't mind. (At least he hoped they wouldn't.)
