Day 27: Library
Libraries, he'd found, were rarely as dull as people made them out to be. Though he felt no magic in these tomes, they were still full of useful information. Maybe some of them could tell him a little bit more about this world he'd landed himself in.
For that matter, why hadn't he run into any of the others yet? They'd all been fairly close together when they'd left Rekord, but he hadn't seen a trace of any of them. He was able to communicate easily with the people here though, which led him to believe Mokona was within a mile or so. Unless the ones running this little game had some other way to let all these other-worldly people communicate amongst themselves. In which case, the others could be very far away indeed.
The library had that wonderful smell of old books, and Fai traced his fingers along the shelves, skimming titles and pulling books that struck his fancy. Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz, The War of the Worlds, and with a smile, he found Bram Stoker's Dracula as well. Raven had been telling the truth then, in spite of his own lies. Ought to be a good start. He sat leisurely at one of the tables and began flipping through his selections.

He didn't like the idea of a man so content with death.

"That is incredible," Faust managed, once he was able to speak again. The idea of cloning wasn't new to him, but seeing (and being able to examine him)... Really, it took more self-control than Faust though he had to simply not jump the poor man here and now.
In a purely scientific way of course. He was married after all.

The implications, the possible break-throughs that could be made from this one encounter.... Faust was dizzy with it all.

"Doesn't seem right to me though... setting you up as merely cannon fodder," he shook his head as he spoke. "You are still a living being, right? Your feelings and self deserve some consideration."
That was the crux of the whole 'clone' issue back home.

He looked around the room once more. "Aside from the 'Star Wars' mess, did you have any other questions about this place?"

He frowned. He hadn't seen one simple system. It was ... odd for a supposedly state-of-the-art facility.

She touched her hair gingerly still, although the nurses had been kind enough to smooth out the ends and ask no questions.
Her meeting now was more important. RC went missing the same time that awful note had been written - if someone tried to had killed him, they might come after TK.
Straightening, she walked slowly over to the clone (who was currently in conversation with someone she didn't recognize), a bit unnerved to see him. Silently she reminded herself he wasn't RC before clearing her throat and making herself known.
"Excuse me," she said, looking from one man to the other. "I'm Claire." Her eyes focused on TK. "I told you I wanted to talk to you."

He inclined his head slightly, unsure of how to really give a polite greeting when there was no rank structure. "Sergeant TK-622. What do you want to discus?"

"I think that you might be in danger. There's a good chance RC didn't just go missing like people here do sometimes - I think he might have been killed." She bit her lip, but kept going. "There's a patient who gets some sick pleasure out of maiming the others. He always brags about it on the bulletin afterwards."
She took a breath before she went on. "I don't know if RC got killed because he was just in the wrong place or fought with this guy, but I think you should be careful in case he catches sight of you and wants to...finish the job."
no subject
His face went from the slightly perplexed look he usually had when dealing with something new involving civilians to a completely stone-cold serious stare. "Do you know what he looks like?" He wouldn't know why someone would be after clones here. Maybe he was a rebel. Maybe he was just a complete psychopath.
...Probably both.

Faust couldn't be the only one here who thought ... badly from time to time.

And there was his orders from the Captain... "Do you have others to team up with for the night, or do you need a group?"
no subject
He had a hard time getting along sometimes... Of course, he had offered medical aid to TK-622 and his group. Did that count? Faust wasn't sure.
He paid attention though, to whatever this young woman's answer would be.

"The person I usually travel with has plans...so I'm all alone tonight."
