Day 27: Library

Libraries, he'd found, were rarely as dull as people made them out to be.  Though he felt no magic in these tomes, they were still full of useful information.  Maybe some of them could tell him a little bit more about this world he'd landed himself in.

For that matter, why hadn't he run into any of the others yet?  They'd all been fairly close together when they'd left Rekord, but he hadn't seen a trace of any of them.  He was able to communicate easily with the people here though, which led him to believe Mokona was within a mile or so.  Unless the ones running this little game had some other way to let all these other-worldly people communicate amongst themselves.  In which case, the others could be very far away indeed.

The library had that wonderful smell of old books, and Fai traced his fingers along the shelves, skimming titles and pulling books that struck his fancy.  Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz, The War of the Worlds, and with a smile, he found Bram Stoker's Dracula as well.  Raven had been telling the truth then, in spite of his own lies.  Ought to be a good start.  He sat leisurely at one of the tables and began flipping through his selections.

TK turned when he heard someone coming up behind them. The conversation with Faust hadn't done much to improve his current social abilities, but he was slightly less on edge than he had been before, and managed to at least hide the immediate reaction of assessing the newcommer as a potential threat. Too much time dealing with an insurgency...

He inclined his head slightly, unsure of how to really give a polite greeting when there was no rank structure. "Sergeant TK-622. What do you want to discus?"

Faust blinked at the sudden apperance of a young woman, but politely backed up a bit to allow the two to speak. He wasn't much on being rude and butting in to a conversation that he wasn't invited into.

Claire's eyes turned to the other young man briefly in a silent apology for interrupting their conversation, but this couldn't wait.

"I think that you might be in danger. There's a good chance RC didn't just go missing like people here do sometimes - I think he might have been killed." She bit her lip, but kept going. "There's a patient who gets some sick pleasure out of maiming the others. He always brags about it on the bulletin afterwards."

She took a breath before she went on. "I don't know if RC got killed because he was just in the wrong place or fought with this guy, but I think you should be careful in case he catches sight of you and wants to...finish the job."

It just figured that the prisoners would be dangerous too, wouldn't it? This really wasn't helping 622's paranoia.

His face went from the slightly perplexed look he usually had when dealing with something new involving civilians to a completely stone-cold serious stare. "Do you know what he looks like?" He wouldn't know why someone would be after clones here. Maybe he was a rebel. Maybe he was just a complete psychopath.

...Probably both.

Faust frowned slightly, managing to look both worried and interested at the same time. Of course it stood to reason that there would be other mad men here. This place was pretending to be an asylum after all.

Faust couldn't be the only one here who thought ... badly from time to time.

Claire shook her head. "Aside from evidence of his...work, and his taunts on the board, he keeps a low profile during the day. He seems to have an ally, though. Or at least someone else who gets a kick out of attacking us during the night."

[identity profile] loyal-soldier.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
TK frowned. Well, it was a given that he was going to be on guard at night here, he'd just have to add other prisoners onto the list of possible hostiles after nightfall. "Thank you for the information."

And there was his orders from the Captain... "Do you have others to team up with for the night, or do you need a group?"

Faust was curious to see how people in a group interacted with one another here, but he was hesitant to join up with others.

He had a hard time getting along sometimes... Of course, he had offered medical aid to TK-622 and his group. Did that count? Faust wasn't sure.

He paid attention though, to whatever this young woman's answer would be.

Claire considered for a moment. From the bulletin, it looked like Wesker had plans that didn't involve her. No, she had no one else right now.

"The person I usually travel with has plans...so I'm all alone tonight."

TK nodded. "Very well. I was in a temporary cell when I woke up, and I don't think it has a number. I'll be heading to M30 as soon as I can. Will you be able to meet us there, or should we come and find you?"

Faust smiled at the offer and looked back at the young lady. He hoped she would accept. Traveling about alone at night was not safe.

Though, aside from a few small things, Faust had yet to actually see any major dangers...

Claire smiled back at the two men. "I know where M30 is, I can meet you there. Thanks."

She counted herself lucky she'd managed to avoid some of the worse things in Landel's, but Claire really wasn't keen on pushing her luck.
