Day 27: Lunch

Renji wasn't so certain what this grilled cheese thing was all about, but he liked the sound of some soup. Even if it was strange western soup, well... there wasn't anything bad people could do to soup, in his experience. His good mood was starting to fray at the edges, a little, from the strain of dealing with the Ichimaru issue, and even more from what had been on the bulletin board earlier.

He'd never had difficulty simply writing something before. But...

He shook his head as he entered the line. He didn't want to think about it. He wanted to hold on to the tenuous equilibrium he'd managed to find.

Renji got himself a large bowl of soup, water, and even one of those sandwiches, just to try it. Old habit, recently awakened, had him over to one side of the cafeteria, where the fewest people possible would have the chance to pass behind him. He sat there with his back toward the wall and started eating.

William could honestly see none of the problems Krauser was having with the plans Wesker had presented. Neither virus was airborne, contact had little to no effect (unless ingested and/or injected directly into the bloodstream) and despite William's hopes, the more possible result was that the viruses in their bloodstream were too diluted for use.

But William was going to hope for otherwise.

Regardless, at least Krauser had actually gone silent.

Wesker wanted to sigh or shake his head or do something to express the exasperation he currently felt.

Instead he opted for something that William would be able to sympathize with, muttering softly, "At least we don't have to deal with Doctor Marcus," Of course, Krauser probably wouldn't get the full reference behind that. There were only three people alive who knew about that little detail of the outbreak in Raccoon city, and two of them were sitting at this table.

Wesker pulled off his sunglasses and rubbed at his eyes before replacing them, careful not to let anyone see his eyes while he had his sunglasses off.

Krauser let them talk. Right. His plaga was active; best to assume at least one virus was.

And just. . . wait and see. Something would come up, or he'd see a chance to make some new options.

Wesker's mutterings were not lost on William and, in an uncharacteristic religious moment, he replied with an "Amen!" because if there was anything to praise a higher being for, it was that. Though it could have been done a lot quicker...

"Let's hope it stays that way."

"Very well, I believe that is everything that needs to be discussed right now, this meeting is over," And just in time, too, he could spot a trio of nurses heading in their direction.
