Castiel
13 April 2013 @ 01:04 pm
Castiel certainly hadn't expected to encounter someone who was already dead and forced back into life on his bus ride into Doyleton. It was a reminder that there was more going on here than he could easily determine, and that the power this place wielded was an unknown even now. There seemed to be a common pattern here of taking beings and forcing them out of their normal forms -- between him, Skulduggery, and Aigis, among others.

As the bus parked and they were ordered outside, Castiel nodded a farewell to Skulduggery. He had to admit that it was odd even speaking to him, as if there was some kind of cardinal law being broken. The dead should not speak. Then again, the dead should not come back to life either, and Castiel had done that once or twice himself.

With the coupon book and one of those credit cards in hand, Castiel placed both into the pocket of his pants and then looked over the rest of the exiting patients. He still didn't quite know what to do with himself in this place, beyond wander in search of something intriguing. In the end, it was his fellow patients who held more interest for him, rather than the material goods this town offered.

It had been nice to chat with Anise on the way into town and make their plans for the day, and Guy headed off the bus a few feet behind her, collecting his coupons and currency in the process. Which was difficult to do since he had to make sure that his hand didn't brush against the nurse's, but he managed it without any episodes.

He said goodbye to his friend as the two of them split up in search of Luke. It would be best if they could find him as soon as possible so that he was filled in on what would be happening. The problem was, Guy had to work out where he would go if he was Luke. The inn? Not likely. Maybe the pet store, probably not the book store, but the toy store was a possibility...

It was hard to be sure, and so Guy ended up wandering his way down the main street, keeping an eye out for what should have been a very obvious head of red hair. Luke wasn't usually that hard to find. He wasn't exactly a quiet person most of the time.

He just hoped his friend hadn't stayed behind for some reason. They didn't even have the bulletin to rely on at this point. There was one in the grocery store, but most people didn't bother to check it and he didn't even know if Luke was aware of it.

Guy was pretty persistent, though, and so he didn't plan to let up until he found his friend.

Kyousuke was tense as he left the bus, enervated before the day had even begun, yet fueled by a spark of anger and determination. He couldn't say why this was happening again, but that didn't matter so much as putting a stop to it. ... He had to save them. The weight of that pulled at him, but there was nothing he could do about it yet, so he'd just have to bear with it for now. Frustration wasn't going to help anyone right now.

Knowing that, he'd just have to find some way to relax and put it out of mind, however impossible that seemed. Being here helped, a little. It was new, and they were being allowed to wander around instead of suffering the staff's institution farce in the silence of pointless, monotonous activities. Being so far away removed the knowledge that what they needed could be close by, just waiting to be found.

For now, the boy decided to linger in the park for a while. It was nice there, if a bit vacant in the early morning, and he had all day to explore anyway. They called it a "town," but it was really more of a small village from where he was standing, so he doubted there were many sights to be seen to begin with. Maybe he'd just go sit on a swing for a little while and finish his breakfast; he'd been so absorbed in his conversation with Lloyd that he had yet to touch anything.

Rita Mordio

For today's field trip, Rita’s nurse had decided to bring her a button-up dress that looked like it was made of the same material dishcloths were. The bluish plaid pattern was an eyesore. What was worse, it only came down to just around the knees, leaving the burns on the outer side of her left leg clearly visible. At least she could walk much better than yesterday, but the large blotch of discolored skin and scabbing was unsightly, and it made her feel more vulnerable than she liked.

At least some of the other patients had worse outfits picked for them. She'd just have to deal with it and get on with her day.

There was still so much Rita wanted to learn last night, about IRIS, about the third floor, and about the institute itself, but it looked like their time had been cut short. Still, interacting with IRIS had made Rita even more curious about this world's technology than before. Maybe she could kill time by familiarizing herself with some common devices.

And so, Rita decided to visit the electronics store. She entered and started looking around, picking up a few products, reading their descriptions, and putting them back.

Her eyes were soon drawn to some devices with large screens... 'televisions,' the label said. There were a couple displaying footage, presumably to show the display's quality to customers. Rita had seen something similar in the institute before, but now that she could examine it up close... it really was stunning, how clear the images were. How were they produced? The mage drew closer and closer, then reached out her fingers to touch.
