The Town

The Head Doctor certainly hadn't lied about the weather. As the three buses pulled into town, parking themselves on Germaine Street like always, the sun shone brightly down on the streets of the town. Things were quiet this morning, as they always were at the start of a day like Sunday, but there were at least a few townspeople running their morning errands or setting up shop.

It seemed to be the start of a clear, hopefully fruitful day. As each patient exited their bus, a nurse standing by the exit doors handed over a book of coupons and a specially made credit card that held exactly twenty-five dollars on it. With those items in hand, there was a world of opportunity for those looking for it.

Like always, the nurses lurked all around the town to keep an eye on their charges, but at least there was no bad weather to compete with on this particular trip. And the patients might find that far at the other end of town, there was a brand new store that had opened and was ready for business, even from those who might be called mentally unwell. Not all the people in the town were so friendly, but there were some sympathetic people to be found here and there.
