DAY 26: Men's Showers (Second Shift)

Gluttony didn't want to leave his Lust, not after he'd just found her!  But the mean tasty nurses said he had to.  "You can't join her in the women's showers" was a bad excuse.  He didn't like the mean tasty nurses.  Maybe Lust would let him eat them later.  Still, he knew he would see his Lust again, and that was good.  He liked Lust.  She was good and beautiful and smart and kind.  Why did they have to take him away from his Lust?

Still, he would see her again.  And she would tell him it was okay to eat the tasty nurses, and that would be good.  His new friend liked eating people, too.  That made him happy to find a friend who shared a love for eating people.  Today was a very good day.

As he entered the showers, he stood under a shower head and opened his mouth wide to drink up the water.  It wasn't as good as eating people, or eating waffles that didn't scream when he bit into them so weren't nearly as good as eating people, but it was still swallowing something, and that made him feel better.

"Yes. Normally my skin is dark gray, and my eyes are even less human-like." But then, they were easier to control. He supposed the glow would give him away at night, but he so wanted to be able to function in light without pain. "There also should be eight limbs growing from my back. This place took them without a trace." There were scars on his back, but from before the change. Where the limbs had been, there was only smooth, pale, human skin.

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, it's hard to give up the other limbs. I still miss the wings," Sparda studied his human hands for a moment. Without his demonic abilities this place would be even more difficult to take down. But giving those up had been necessary.

"Are there many others here who aren't human?"

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Some. There is the Shinto goddess Amaterasu, among others. Most seem human, and only partially able to fight and take advantage of what little they have." It was pathetic. "Many had metahuman powers before arrival."

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-09 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sparda was not particularly familiar with the eastern religions, but the name was somewhat familiar.

"So this place is full of powerful beings who would otherwise be able to level this building within seconds?" He wondered who, or what, could truly be behind something like this.

Obviously it was a powerful being, whatever it was.

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes. Some retain a small amount of power. I have not. But they seem to underestimate what can be done with the materials available here." No matter how petulant both the head doctor and the radio announcer might have been last night about the idiocy of the prisoners, quite a lot could get done, as long as people worked efficiently.

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
"I am unsure as to my current capabilities. I will be sure to determine how much I have retained before venturing out," He wondered if he would still heal as quickly, or move as fast, or if he would perhaps have some of his inhuman strength.

"So you are getting by without your power?"

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Do so. The overconfident are quickly shown how vulnerable they are here." Like Jack had. That had been so satisfying, although he almost wished he could have killed the man... useful as he might be through simple manipulation, he was an annoyance.

"Yes. I am making blades, explosives and chemical weapons." It was so incredibly far from ideal, but much better than what the rest of the patients here could say.

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
"I am quite partial to blades myself, though I do know how to use my fists," Sparda once more studied his human hands.

"A pity humans don't get more in the way of natural weapons."

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
"I might be able to make you a sword, if you're interested." If the man was willing to work for him, that is. "Apart from that, there will be a flashlight with some weight to it beneath your pillow in your cell. That is the only real makeshift weapon that is provided that is useful here, although I have seen several who were stabbing at monsters with plastic pens." It was so easy to make a sharp edge on anything sturdy enough to become a weapon. Why was it so difficult for people to manage that? They could at least try to break the furniture, or something similar...

"Yes. The night time creatures have an advantage in that regard. But most of them are quite easy to kill, as long as you are not unarmed."

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am interested, but what do you want in return?" That was the case with most beings, they never wanted to just give anything away. While he could understand that such arrangements made the human world go around these days, he hoped that such would not be the case in a situation like this.

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"That we work together. I am not interested in having to fight both this institution and those trapped by it." Although there were sometimes where he would love to, if he was given enough of an excuse...

"I can make anything up to a longsword. No guard, unfortunately. I don't have the materials. But a blade, as sharp as I can make it." And he was a perfectionist when it came to keeping blades sharp.

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am not opposed to a little cooperation. Very well, I will work with you. And a longsword would be fine. I can use just about any type of weaponry, but I do prefer swords," Sparda smiled at Tartaros, pleased that he wasn't asked for anything unreasonable.

In fact, Sparda would have agreed to help him even if he hadn't offered to provide a weapon for him.

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"I will have it made as soon as possible. Time without supervision from the staff here is limited." He opened his eyes again, making a slight hiss as the light immediately started trying to drill holes in his skull. He wanted the dark and quiet of the nightshift. "And how has this place changed you? You mentioned the loss of wings, but as something from before all of this."

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes... I gave up my wings a couple thousand years ago. I had two sets, and a nice pair of hard, protective wing-covers," He was looking at his human shadow again.

"I also had horns, and claws... and my skin was no where near this soft of colorless... but, I've been in this body for the past two-thousand years of my life. The only sign that remained that I wasn't human was my shadow. Even after I took this form it always held the shape of my true form," but it had been worth it, giving all of that up. He now had a wife and children and the humans were safe.

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why did you give that up?" Recluse would never give up the changes to his body willingly. Unless it was for something better. He filed away all the information for reference, regardless. The more he knew about an individual, the more easily he could determine how best to control them.

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"I had too. I couldn't remain in that form in the human world, and sealing the connection to my world reduced my powers greatly," He certainly was asking a lot of strange questions. As a half demon, shouldn't Tartaros have already known this information?

"I was still the single most powerful being on Earth, even with my powers reduced," unfortunately he wasn't strong enough to avoid being overwhelmed by a massive swarm of weaker demons.

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
One thing that was said reminded Recluse of another point about the facility that should be explained. "Ah. I think I should mention that we are in all likelihood, not from the same dimension." No one from his world would have missed the description of his normal self.

"This place has taken individuals from many different realms, and different time periods." With no real logical pattern behind the choices. There were certainly some who wrote on the message board who were an utter waste of time.

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"That would explain quite a bit," So there was no telling exactly what this Tartaros was, if he was from a different reality. Perhaps he was dealing with Tartaros himself, and not someone simply claiming that name, but from a different dimension.

"Certainly, it would make sense for me to be weaker away from the world, and dimension, of my origin."

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not necessarily. Dimensional travel does not mean weakening, unless your powers are tied to something of that world." He had enough personal experience with the subject.

"The weakness is therefore entirely due to some aspect of this facility, for most." He was going to find out exactly how it all worked, before he left. However long from now that would be. He didn't care. He could wait.

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Tartaros said he had lost all of his power in this place, but he was likely a very powerful being where he was from.

"For me, it does, unfortunately." However this facility could also play a part in it, certainly, the changes in his shadow should not have occurred.

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
More information to be filed away. Recluse said nothing more for a moment. Conversation was not his strong point. He was much better at giving orders. "What is your room number? It is generally easiest and safest to meet others in the cells. I have never heard of an attack within them." By the creatures, at least.

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am in the M80 hallway, I am afraid I did not pay much attention to the number of the room, merely the location," Sparda had not considered it of much importance, having operated under the assumption that he was in a regular human hospital when he awoke.

He was certain he could retrace his steps to the room, though that would be unnecessary as the nurses would probably escort him there.

[identity profile] tartaros-avatar.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can find you after nightfall, as long as you wait outside your room or the cell block." As long as he was sensible enough to not stand there with one of those blasted flashlights turned on, it should be reasonably safe. "I have other allies that may also be there." Allies, employees, minions, followers… whatever you wanted to call them.

[identity profile] sword-and-demon.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Very well, I shall wait for you at the entrance to the cell block," That was simple enough, and he would have time to test out the extent of his current powers.

Recluse made a vaguely affirmative noise, having nothing else to say. He shut his eyes, putting a hand to one of his temples. The lights bouncing off the white walls were making his constant headache even harder to ignore than was usual. He still had to keep his mind partially focused on maintaining his mental shields, however. After what had happened during the last shift, he was not in the mood for more mental intrusions from anyone nearby.

It also contributed to the headache. Wonderful.
