The art of power walking had its pluses. One: mid-level management flunkies were very impressed. Two: it was possible to do it while drinking something carbonated without spillage or disturbing the flotilla of breadcrumbs at the bottom. Three: S.T. looked like a complete dick doing it, and he knew it.
Racing down the hall to the designated meeting spot, Shiina almost tripped as she stumbled along. Her fever was growing worse, and a small cough was threatening at the back of her throat. Fighting back against the tickling urge, Shiina forced herself along, intent on arriving on time.
While that healing stop hadn’t taken too long, it had delayed Rita for a few minutes. The old man was probably waiting for her. If not, then he was going to need to give a damn good reason for being late.
Her improved condition allowed Rita to move quickly and smoothly through the hallways, with minimal pain in her chest. It wasn’t long before she reached the main hallway.
Nobody recognizable here, which was just as well; Soma didn't really want to get into an argument about whether or not she should be in bed sleeping. Because she should, and she knew it--but really, with the chance of a cure that close by...
She just had to hurry. Landel had to know, and he'd probably try and set something up to guard it as soon as he could.
Only the usual ambient noises in the next hall, the quiet indicators of the night's progression. Sasuke moved with his usual silence, voice low enough for only Aidou to hear. "There was no cure last time. It just stopped."
“You know as well as I that they’re not entirely truthful,” mused the vampire. “But there’s probably something there. Who knows if it’d be useful, though? That‘s the question.”
Almost there. As they walked, Aidou was watching, straining his senses to see if he could catch even a trace of Aigis’ presence. It was hard with his natural abilities dampened and the cacophony of scents that tangled in the air--some from other prisoners, some from the walls themselves, always as if old and congealed blood had been smeared along the inside of the walls.
As for the infection… “The difference this time is that Landel seems intent on a true physical transformation. Yours didn’t progress, but ugh, can you imagine what it’ll be like if it gets to that point?” The first image that rose in Aidou’s mind was that of an ex-human. A creature so out of control that it couldn’t discern friend from foe was the very definition of a nuisance.
Definitely good neither of them were displaying symptoms so far…
The blackness spread out before her, thick and unyielding. She wasn't afraid of running headlong into it; weeks of using the dark to her advantage had lent it a certain amount of familiarity.
She whipped around the corner, heading for the entrance to the cell block, but her footfalls produced no sound. Assassin's training had been one of the Nakatsukasas' specialties, and she... she would always be a Nakatsukasa, no matter what.
Even knowing a little bit more about where she was now, and realizing that she wasn't as long as she had seemed the night before, Nina was still uncertain and on her guard. There was no telling what kind of dangers lurked around any corner, and any noise was apt to send the beam of Nina's flashlight swinging towards it.
But it wouldn't do to be so jumpy. Alertness was one thing. No matter what good reasons she might have to feel uneasy, jumping at every noise wasn't going to be helpful, to her or anyone she was with.

Mike paused before he went to the main hall. He only spent a moment to breathe in and out.
